[2A. Presentation and Discussion regarding wheelchair accessible restrooms at Waterloo Park by Melissa Ayala, Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, Community Engagement and Government Relations Director and Lisa Storer Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) Project Manager. ]

UM, ACCESSIBLE RESTROOMS AT WATERLOO PARK.

UM, MELISSA, EXCUSE ME, MELISSA.

Y'ALL ARE YOU HERE? YEAH, I'M HERE.

ALL RIGHT, SO WHERE'S YOURS.

WELL, THANK YOU FOR HAVING US.

I'M ALSO JOINED BY OUR DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND DESIGN JOHN RIGDON, UM, WHO WILL BE CO-PRESENTING WITH ME TODAY.

UM, AND WE'RE ALSO JOINED BY OUR COLLEAGUE LISA STORE FROM THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT WHO WILL HELP US ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS AT THE END OF OUR PRESENTATION.

MY NAME IS MELISSA ALLAH AND I'M WITH THE WATERLOO GREENWAY CONSERVANCY.

AND WE'RE SO THANKFUL TO BE CHATTING WITH YOU ALL TODAY AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT THE WATERLOO GREENWAY PROJECT.

UM, SO IF WE COULD LOAD OUR SLIDES, I CAN GO AHEAD AND START TALKING THROUGH A PROJECT UPDATE FOR YOU ALL.

ALL RIGHT.

THE SLIDES ARE UP.

THANK YOU.

SO WATER THE GREENWAY.

UM, AND WE CAN ACTUALLY GO TO THE SECOND SLIDE.

OKAY.

W WHAT ARE THE GREENWAY PROJECT IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF AUSTIN AND, UH, SPECIFICALLY OUR SPONSORING DEPARTMENTS ARE THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND THE WATERSHED PROTECTION DEPARTMENT.

UM, AND WHAT ARE THE GREENWAY IS A NONPROFIT, UM, AND WE ARE WORKING COLLABORATIVELY TO EXECUTE ON OUR PROJECT, UH, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.

UM, SO WE CAN NOW GO TO THE THIRD SLIDE.

SO JUST TO TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT THE MISSION OF THE CONSERVANCY, UM, WE HAVE A FEW DIFFERENT, UM, KEY COMPONENTS OF OUR PROJECT, WHICH INCLUDE, UH, RENEWING THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE WALNUT CREEK AREA, BUT THEN ALSO CREATING SPACES FOR COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER AND ENJOY THROUGH ACTIVE PROGRAMMING THAT INCLUDES HEALTH AND WELLNESS OPPORTUNITIES, EDUCATION, UM, BUT ALSO CREATING A CONNECTED TRAIL THROUGHOUT OUR PARK SYSTEM.

UM, BUT A KEY, A KEY GOAL FOR US IS TO CREATE PARKS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL, INCLUDING PEOPLE OF ALL ABILITIES, OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS.

UM, AND WE, WE REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING A BIT MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT WITH YOU.

SO WE CAN GO AHEAD TO THE NEXT SLIDE.

LIKE I MENTIONED, UM, WELL, WALLER CREEK ITSELF IS A BIG PART OF OUR PROJECT THAT RUNS THROUGH THE WATERLOO GREENWAY AREA, UH, FROM 15TH STREET TO LADYBIRD LAKE, AND ACTUALLY CONTINUES FURTHER UP NORTH.

THIS IS OUR AREA, OUR PROJECT AREA, UM, THAT YOU SEE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE BLUE LINE ON THE MAP.

[00:05:02]

AND WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE SLIDE FIVE, IN ADDITION TO RESTORING THE CREEK AND OUR ECOLOGY AND REBUILDING HABITAT.

WE'RE ALSO LOOKING TO CREATE NEW TRAILS THAT CAN CONNECT TO THE EXISTING HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL AT LADY BIRD LAKE.

UM, AND SO THE ORANGE LINES THAT YOU SEE ON THE MAP, UM, REPRESENT THAT TRAIL SYSTEM AND THOSE NEW CONNECTIONS THAT WE WILL BE INCORPORATING INTO OUR PARKS PROJECT.

UM, IT'S, UH, ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF OF TRAILS WITHIN WATERLOO PARK, UM, IN A MILE AND A HALF LENGTH TO THE LAKE.

UM, AND SO THIS IS, UH, THIS WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION TO AUSTIN TRAIL SYSTEMS. SO WE CAN GO TO SLIDE SIX.

NOW OUR PROJECT IS DESIGNED IN PHASES.

UM, WE ARE CURRENTLY WELL UNDERWAY IN OUR FIRST PHASE AT WATERLOO PARK.

UM, AND THAT'S WHAT YOU SEE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE FOLDED ORANGE LINE ON THE FAR RIGHT OF THAT MAP.

WE ARE ANTICIPATING TO OPEN LATER THIS SPRING, WE REALLY EXCITED TO HAVE MADE A SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS ON THE PARK AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SAFELY CONTINUE OUR CONSTRUCTION, EVEN DURING THE PANDEMIC.

UM, WE ARE ALSO LOOKING TO BEGIN THE SECOND PHASE OF OUR PROJECT, WHICH IS A PHASE TWO IN THE YELLOW LINE ON THE MAP.

AND THEN WE, WE WILL COMPLETE OUR PROJECTS, UM, WITH THE THIRD PHASE TO BRING THOSE TWO PIECES TOGETHER AND FINISH THAT CONNECTION IN THE BLUE SECTION ON THE MAP.

AND WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE.

SO THE AREA THAT YOU SEE IN GREEN ON YOUR MAP, UM, IT WAS JUST TO HELP ORIENT EVERYONE AS TO WHERE WATERLOO GREENWAY IS IN DOWNTOWN AUSTIN.

IT'S LOCATED ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF DOWNTOWN, UM, BUT REALLY REPRESENTS AN OPPORTUNITY, UM, BECAUSE OF OUR LOCATION TO REALLY BRING TOGETHER EAST AUSTIN AND WEST AUSTIN AND OUR GEOGRAPHY, BUT ALSO THROUGH OUR CULTURAL PROGRAMMING AND REALLY REPRESENTING THE DIFFERENT, UM, AUDIENCES IN OUR COMMUNITY.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE ON SLIDE A, UM, WE HAVE A PICTURE OF OUR CONSTRUCTION FROM DECEMBER, 2019.

UM, YOU CAN SEE, UM, SOME OF OUR, SOME OF OUR INITIAL PROGRESS, UM, WE'VE REBUILT A LOT OF THE PARK.

UM, THE PARK HAD, UM, HAS A LONG HISTORY IN OUR COMMUNITY, UH, WAS THE PARK FOR ABOUT 30 YEARS.

UM, AND WE ARE LOOKING TO CONTINUE ITS FUTURE WITH SOME NEW COMMUNITY AMENITIES.

UM, AND YOU KNOW, WE WANT TO CONTINUE THAT, UM, RECOGNIZING THE HISTORY THROUGH OUR PROGRAMMING, THROUGH A HISTORY PROJECT THAT WE'VE DONE.

UM, AND SO IF WE GO TO SLIDE NINE, YOU CAN SEE A PICTURE TAKEN VERY RECENTLY TO COMPARE, UH, WHERE WE WERE, UM, ABOUT A YEAR AGO TO, UH, LAST MONTH.

UM, AND THAT SHOWS YOU HOW WE HAVE COMPLETED A LOT OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE PARK, BUT THEN WE HAVE ALSO COMPLETED A LOT OF OUR LANDSCAPING, WHICH IS REALLY BRINGING THE PARK TO LIFE, UM, AND KIND OF, UH, SHOWING YOU ALL THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY SPACE.

UM, AND HERE, YOU KNOW, WE JUST WANT TO EMPHASIZE HOW WE ARE LOOKING TO ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE AND EXCEED AND MONEY IN MANY CASES, THE STANDARDS FOR ACCESSIBLE DESIGN AND ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS.

AND THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED TO JUST CALL THAT OUT HERE.

IN ADDITION, IT'S, IT'S, UM, WORTH NOTING THAT OUR PROJECT IS A COUNCIL APPROVED, UM, HAS A COUNCIL APPROVED A DESIGN PLAN, UM, BUT WAS ALSO, UH, IT ALSO CAME TO LIFE THROUGH AN INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION IN 2011, THAT INCLUDED GOALS FOR UNIVERSAL ACCESS AND, UM, THAT OUR PROJECT WAS AWARDED TO OUR DESIGN TEAM IN 2012.

UM, AND SINCE THEN WE'VE BEEN WORKING HARD TO TRY TO BRING THAT VISION TO LIFE.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

ON SLIDE 11, YOU CAN SEE A RENDERING OF ONE OF, YOU KNOW, SORT OF A, A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT AN OPEN PARK EXPERIENCE COULD BE LIKE WITH AN ACTIVATION IN, UM, THE, THE CENTRAL FEATURE OF OUR PARK, WHICH IS A MOODY AMPHITHEATER, AND YOU CAN SEE IT IN IT.

AND THEN EVENT MODE, THERE WAS THE STAGE LIT UP AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS, UM, IN THAT CENTRAL LAWN AREA.

AND WE KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE PARK IS TO HOST FESTIVALS AND EVENTS THAT WE WANT TO CONTINUE THAT IN THE FUTURE.

UH, SLIDE 11, PLEASE.

AND THIS SLIDE, THIS IS A PICTURE OF WHAT THE AMPHITHEATER LOOKS LIKE TODAY WITH SOME OF OUR LIGHTING TURNED ON.

UM, IT'S REALLY EXCITING TO BE ABLE TO START SEEING SOME OF THAT VISION COME TO LIFE.

SLIDE 12, PLEASE.

THIS IS ANOTHER RENDERING TO SHOW YOU, UM, SORT OF YOUR AVERAGE DAY AT THE PARK WHERE FOLKS CAN JUST COME ENJOY, YOU KNOW, BRINGING THEIR DOGS OUT, BRINGING THEIR FAMILIES TO JUST HANG OUT ON THE LAWN, BUT ALSO EXPERIENCE THE STAGE.

[00:10:01]

SO WHEN WE'RE IN REGULAR PARK TIME, FOLKS WILL ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO GO UP ON STAGE, HAVE THEIR LUNCH, REALLY ENJOY IT AS A NEW COMMUNITY SPACE FOR OUR CITY SLIDE 13.

UH, THIS IS A PICTURE AGAIN OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE NOW, A BIT CLOSER TO THE STAGE TO GIVE YOU A PERSPECTIVE OF, OF WHAT THAT AREA LOOKS LIKE WITH OUR, OUR NEW, UM, LAWN IN PLACE.

UM, YOU CAN SEE SEVERAL OF OUR WALKWAYS ARE NOW BUILT, UM, AND YOU CAN REALLY LOOK ONTO THE STAGE TO SEE, TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE, UM, WHILE YOU'RE LOOKING STRAIGHT AT IT.

NEXT SLIDE, THESE PICTURES, UM, SHOW YOU A FEW DIFFERENT ANGLES.

UM, LOOKING AT THE STAGE AREA IN THE AMPHITHEATER, UM, IT'S IN A REALLY UNIQUE, UH, PLACE OF, UH, THE PARK BECAUSE WE HAVE TRINITY STREET, WHICH WOULD BE TO THE RIGHT OF THESE PICTURES.

UM, AND THAT'S COMING IN AT A HIGHER ELEVATION OF THE STAGE.

UM, AND SO WE HAVE THIS REALLY UNIQUE DESIGN THAT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF BOTH ELEVATIONS.

SO YOU COULD COME IN OFF OF TRINITY STREET TO THE ROOFTOP LEVEL OF THE AMPHITHEATER, BUT THEN YOU CAN ALSO COME AROUND TO THE PARK LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE THE STAGE.

UM, AND THOSE ARE THE STAIRS AND THE ELEVATOR ACCESS THAT YOU SEE IN THAT BOTTOM BOTTOM RIGHT PICTURE.

UM, THE STAGE ITSELF, UM, IS, UH, COVERED BY THIS ROOF INTERESTING ROOF STRUCTURE THAT WE HAVE, THAT'S MADE UP OF STEEL I-BEAMS THAT ARE LAYERED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER TO MAKE A BEAUTIFUL DESIGN AND REALLY BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURAL FEATURE FOR THE PARK.

BUT IT'S ALSO FUNCTIONAL TO BE ABLE TO GIVE US SOME WEATHER PROTECTION, UM, TO ENABLE US TO HAVE THOSE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PERFORMANCES ON STAGE.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

UH, THIS MAP VIEW GIVES YOU, UM, JUST, JUST SOME INTERESTING COMPONENTS OF THE PARK.

UM, IT'S FUNCTIONAL IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS, INCLUDING, UM, TO ACHIEVE SOME OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY GOALS.

UM, WE HAVE ALSO INCORPORATED A CISTERN INTO THE LAWN AND VENUE INFRASTRUCTURE.

THAT'S HELPING US TO CAPTURE STORM WATER AND FILTER THAT THROUGH A SERIES OF RAIN GARDENS THAT WE HAVE IN THE PARK TO REUSE IT FOR IRRIGATION.

AND HOWEVER WE NEED, UM, ON THE NEXT SLIDE, WE CAN FLIP OVER TO THAT.

YOU CAN SEE A PHOTO OF ONE OF THOSE RAIN GARDENS.

SO WE HAVE THREE IN THE PARK.

UM, AND, YOU KNOW, AS, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IS A HUGE COMPONENT OF OUR PROJECT.

AND WE JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU GUYS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT TOO, IN THIS PRESENTATION.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

WOW.

CHANGING SLIDES.

IF WE COULD PAUSE A MOMENT FOR THE INTERPRETERS TO SWITCH AND MAKE SURE THAT OUR, UH, CONSUMER IS ABLE TO SEE THE NEW INTERPRETER.

GREAT.

OKAY.

I THINK WE'RE READY.

PERFECT.

THANK YOU.

UM, SO HERE ON SLIDE 17, WE HAVE A PHOTO OF A BEAUTIFUL TREE, UM, AS A PART OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT GOALS.

UM, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PRESERVE AND RELOCATE MANY TREES, UH, TO THE PARK.

UM, WE HAVE RELOCATED FOUR SIGNIFICANT TREES FROM OUTSIDE OF THE PARK TO THE PARK, UM, TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SOME REALLY INCREDIBLE SHADE AS SOON AS THE PARK OPENS.

UH, WE RELOCATED A FEW FROM THE UT CAMPUS, THE CAPITOL, UM, AND AN ADJACENT PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

ON THE NEXT SLIDE, WE HAVE A PICTURE OF WALLER CREEK.

UM, WE HAVE A GREAT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WATERSHED PROTECTION DEPARTMENT, UM, TO WORK ON SOME CREEK, UH, BANK RESTORATION WORK.

UM, SO TOGETHER WE'RE WORKING TO REBUILD SOME CREEK SLOPES THAT HAVE BEEN ERODED AND WASHED OUT OVER TIME BECAUSE OF THE HISTORIC FLOODING ALONG WALLER CREEK.

UM, BECAUSE THE WALNUT CREEK TUNNEL IS NOW IN PLACE AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

UH, WE'RE ABLE TO REBUILD SOME OF THAT, UM, AND PUT IN NEW INFRASTRUCTURE WITH THE PARK AND OUR TRAIL.

AND SO WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS OUR WORK TO INCORPORATE NATURAL MATERIALS, TO RESTABILIZE THOSE THINGS.

AND THIS IS SOME REALLY UNIQUE WORK THAT WATERSHED PROTECTION IS LEADING WITH US.

NEXT SLIDE.

AND SO NOW I'LL PASS IT OVER TO MY COLLEAGUE, JOHN RIPTON.

THANKS, MELISSA.

UM, CAN YOU ALL HEAR ME OKAY? YES.

GREAT.

WELL, I'M GOING TO START TALKING A LITTLE BIT ABOUT PLAYSCAPES AND WALK THROUGH SOME ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS OF THE PARK.

UM, SO, YOU KNOW, MELISSA HIGHLIGHTED THE FACT THAT WE HAVE THIS GREAT, UH, AMPHITHEATER IN THE MIDDLE, WHICH WILL HOST EVENTS AND ACTIVATIONS GATHERING, BUT WE ALSO HAVE A SMALLER SPACES FOR FAMILY PLAY GATHERING, AND REALLY IT'S INTENDED TO BE A PARK FOR FOLKS OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES TO USE THIS AT ALL TIMES OF THE DAY IN

[00:15:01]

THE YEAR.

SO HAVING A REALLY CORE PLAY COMPONENT, UH, IS IMPORTANT TO THAT.

UM, HERE'S A RENDERING THAT SHOWS WHAT THOSE PLAYSCAPES WILL ULTIMATELY LOOK LIKE.

AND I'LL SHOW YOU SOME PHOTOS, UM, THAT PRETTY MUCH MIRROR THIS AS WE'VE JUST RECENTLY FINISHED BUILDING THEM.

SO YOU CAN JUMP FORWARD TO SLIDE 20.

UM, THIS SHOWS AN IMAGE VERY RECENTLY TAKEN, UH, UH, THAT PLACE GAVE, WE JUST LOOKED AT AND THE RENDERING, UH, WITH SOME OF THOSE CORE PLAY ELEMENTS.

UM, SOME THINGS TO HIGHLIGHT HERE AS THE APPROACH WE TOOK TO PLAY IN THE PARK IS TO GO WITH NATURE-BASED PLAY, WHICH REALLY INCORPORATES A LOT OF NATURAL ELEMENTS.

SO YOU CAN SEE THE WOODS, UM, NATURAL MATERIALS THAT ARE FROM THE REGIONS SUCH AS THE STONES WERE USING, AND ALSO INTEGRATES THOSE PLAY FEATURES INTO THE NATURAL LANDSCAPE.

UM, YOU KNOW, THIS SERVES SERVES TWO PURPOSES.

I THINK, YOU KNOW, ONE, IT CREATES A MUCH DEEPER AND MORE ENGAGING PLAY FOR CHILDREN, AND THERE'S A LOT OF SCIENCE THAT BACKS THAT UP.

THE OTHER IS WE REALLY WANTED TO WORK WITH THE NATURAL FEATURES OF THE SITE, UH, TO NOT ONLY MAKE THE PLAY FEATURES MORE ATTRACTIVE AND ENGAGING, BUT ALSO MORE ACCESSIBLE.

UM, AND I'LL TALK ABOUT THAT WHEN WE SEE SOME IMAGES OF THE SLIDE IN A MOMENT.

UH, SO NEXT SLIDE PLEASE.

SO ONE OF OUR, OUR BIG, YES, GO AHEAD.

UM, JUST, UH, I DON'T, I APOLOGIZE FOR INTERJECTING, UM, IF Y'ALL DURING YOUR PRESENTATION BECAUSE I AM BLIND.

AND SO IF Y'ALL COULD BE A LITTLE MORE SPECIFIC ON MAYBE DESCRIBING HOW YOU'VE MADE, UH, LIKE YOUR PLACE GAVE SOME OTHER EXAMPLES IN THE PARK, MORE UNIVERSALLY ACCESSIBLE BECAUSE, UH, FOR ME, JUST THE PHOTO ISN'T GOING TO WORK, SO WE COULD JUST MAYBE MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE INCLUSIVE.

I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

YEAH, NO PROBLEM.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW.

UM, SO ONE OF WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT NOW, UM, IS A PHOTO OF A STONE SLIDE THAT WAS MILLED OUT OF 10, LARGE PIECES OF STONE, AND IT'S SORT OF NESTLED INTO THE HILLSIDE AROUND, UH, ONE OF THOSE GREAT HERITAGE OAK TREES THAT, UM, MELISSA MENTIONED EARLIER.

AND ONE OF THE WAYS THAT WE TRIED TO BUILD THIS PLAYGROUND WAS TO WORK AROUND THOSE NATURAL FEATURES LIKE THE HILLSIDES, UM, AND, UH, THE, THE TREES, SO THAT IN THIS CASE, WE COULD CREATE A GREAT SHADED SPACE FOR THE SLIDE, USE THAT STONE MATERIAL, WHICH DOESN'T GET AS HOT AS A METAL OR A PLASTIC, UH, AND JUST SORT OF LOOKS BETTER.

IT LOOKS MORE INCORPORATED INTO THOSE NATURAL TEXTURES AND MATERIALS OF THE PARK.

UM, AND IT DOESN'T HAVE, UM, LADDERS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

SO THE, THE SIDE STARTS AT, UH, YOU KNOW, OFF OF THE TOP OF THE HILL, WHICH ISN'T ACCESSIBLE THROUGH AN ACCESSIBLE PATHWAY, AND THEN GOES DOWN UNDERNEATH THE TREE, UH, TO MEET AND SORT OF LAND IN THE PLAYGROUND AREA BELOW ADDITIONALLY, UM, THEIR TRANSFER PLATFORMS ALONG THE SIDE OF THE SLIDE FOR, TO BE ABLE TO MOVE BACK UP THAT WAY, IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK AROUND, KIND OF ON THE ACCESSIBLE PATHWAY.

SO SOME ACCESSIBLE FEATURES THAT REALLY WORK WITH THE EXISTING HILLSIDE.

UM, AND SIMILARLY, WE'VE DONE THAT BY CREATING SOME SMALLER HILLS FOR FOLKS TO CHILDREN TO PLAY ON AROUND HERE AS WELL.

SO WE KIND OF HAVE THIS ROLLING HILL LANDSCAPE.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE SLIDE 22.

UM, NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT A STRUCTURE THAT WE CALL THE LOG JAM.

UH, IT'S KIND OF A FUN NAME, WE'VE GIVEN IT, BUT IT'S A, IT'S A CLIMBER STRUCTURE AND IT'S MADE FROM NATURAL WOOD MATERIALS.

SO IT'S KIND OF A SERIES OF LOGS, WHICH ARE ATTACHED TOGETHER TO CREATE MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS OF, UH, SORT OF CLIMBER PLAY STRUCTURE.

SO ONE OF THE IDEAS, AGAIN, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS MADE OF THOSE NATURAL MATERIALS, BUT ALSO HAS, UM, DIFFERENT HEIGHTS AND LEVELS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLAY, WHETHER THAT BE AGE OR ABILITY, OR JUST A GENERAL COMFORT WITH A LEVEL OF A FEAR OF BEING A PIE.

UM, SO PEOPLE CAN CLIMB ON A DIFFERENT LEVELS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHALLENGES.

IT ALSO HAS A NATURAL, UH, FALL SURFACE OF ENGINEERED WOOD FIBER BELOW, WHICH IS LIKE A MULCH.

SO THAT'S A SAFE LANDING SURFACE FOR ANYONE WHO'S CLIMBING ON THIS, BUT IT ALSO DOESN'T HAVE SORT OF THAT, YOU KNOW, FEEL OF, OF RUBBER THAT OFTEN DOESN'T FEEL SO NATURAL, WHICH YOU FIND UNDER PLAY AREA.

UH, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

THIS FEATURE IT'S REALLY A TODDLER PLAY FEATURE IT'S CALLED MEGA GRAPH ON, IT'S BASICALLY A LARGE, UH, GREEN PAINTED, UH, WOODEN POSTS THAT MIMIC KIND OF A GRASS, UM, AND YOUNGER CHILDREN ARE ABLE TO KIND OF HIDE WITHIN IT AND RUN THROUGH IT, RUN THROUGH THE DIFFERENT BLADES OF GRASS, SO TO SPEAK AND CLIMB ON THEM, UM, AND JUST ADDS KIND OF TO THAT NATURAL PLAY EXPERIENCE.

AND AGAIN, THESE FEATURES REALLY HIGHLIGHT THE ABILITY FOR ALL AGES AND ABILITIES TO INTERACT IN ONE SPACE AND HAVE AREAS WHERE THEY CAN PLAY, UM, SLIDE 24, PLEASE.

SO MOVING ON TO WHAT WE CALL THE FAMILY PAVILION, THIS AREA IS A

[00:20:01]

SPACE FOR FOOD AND ALSO RESTROOMS, AND ALSO HAS AN INTERESTING STORY OF OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROCESS BEHIND IT.

UM, WE'RE LOOKING AT A RENDERING NOW, IT SHOWS TWO KIND OF SILVER AIRSTREAM TRAILERS, WHICH WILL BE FOOD TRUCKS, JUST A RENDERING OF WHAT THOSE MIGHT LOOK LIKE.

AND IT ALSO SHOWS A CONCRETE RESTROOM BUILDING AND STORAGE BUILDING.

ORIGINALLY, WE HAD STARTED A PROCESS TO DESIGN A, A CAFE IN THE SPACE.

SO MORE OF A SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT, UM, MAYBE WITH FULL SERVICE, SOMETHING A MUCH LARGER BUILDING.

UH, WHEN WE ARE ENGAGING WITH THE COMMUNITY DURING OUR DESIGN PROCESS, WE GOT A LOT OF FEEDBACK THAT THAT WAS NOT REALLY THE RIGHT FIT FOR AUSTIN AND FOR THIS PARK IN GENERAL.

SO WE SHIFTED COURSE, UM, AND WORKING WITH OUR DESIGN TEAM, WE MODIFIED OUR APPROACH TO, UH, AN OUTDOOR DINING AREA SHADED BY THESE GREAT, UH, HERITAGE LIVE OAK TREES WITH FLEXIBLE SEATING AND THEN SPACE FOR TWO FOOD TRUCKS, WHICH WOULD HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY POWER HOOKUPS AND STORAGE SPACES, AND THEN A STANDALONE RESTAURANT BUILDING, WHICH WOULD SERVE DINERS, BUT ALSO FOLKS IN THE PARK.

UM, AND, UH, AND THE PLAY AREA ADJACENT.

SO IF YOU WANT TO JUMP TO THE NEXT SLIDE, SLIDE 25, UM, I'M SORRY, THIS IS COMMISSIONER LANDSCAPE.

THIS IS COMMISSIONER RELAPSED.

I FEEL THAT THE RESTAURANT CHEF FULL-SIZE CHANGING TABLES, UH, FOR FAMILIES, UM, WHO HAVE, UH, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WHO, UM, THE FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ADULT SIZE.

IT'S NOT JUST KIDS.

UM, WELL, THE KIDS ARE ADULT SIZED.

UM, YOU FULL-SIZE CHANGING TABLES IN THE RESTROOMS. SO RIGHT NOW WE DID NOT HAVE, UH, WE, WE HAVE A CHANGING TABLE IN OUR RESTROOMS, BUT NOT SO THAT COULD SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF AN ADULT, BUT, UM, WE HAVE RECEIVED THIS COMMENT FROM SOME OF OUR VIRTUAL TOURS AS WELL.

AND IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE'RE LOOKING INTO WITH OUR PARTNERS IN THE PARKS DEPARTMENT AND I'LL START DESIGN TEAM.

AND, UM, YOU KNOW, IF IT'S INTEGRATED INTO OUR CURRENT PLANS FOR THIS PARK, WE CERTAINLY ARE INSTALLING OTHER RESTROOMS AND WANT TO EXPLORE THAT OPTION GOING FORWARD WITH OUR DESIGNERS SO THAT WE COULD INCORPORATE THOSE FEATURES.

AND, UH, LISA, I DON'T KNOW IF, UH, IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD TO THAT FROM THE PARKS DEPARTMENT'S PERSPECTIVE.

YEAH.

I THINK THAT, UM, HARD SYSTEM-WIDE IS DOING, UH, AN EVALUATION, UH, TO TRY AND INCORPORATE THESE FEATURES.

THE COMMENT IS WELL RECEIVED AND DEFINITELY HEARD.

UM, AND IN PARTICULAR, WITHIN THE WATERLOO GREENWAY, YOU KNOW, WE ALSO HAVE PALM PARK COMING UP.

IT IS PART OF OUR PHASE THREE, I THINK, IN THE DIAGRAMS THAT YOU ALL LOOKED AT EARLIER, BUT, UH, THE INTENTION IS TO ALSO HAVE A RESTROOM FACILITY THERE.

SO CERTAINLY THIS IS SOMETHING THAT, UH, CAN BE DESIGNED IN, UH, AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

THANKS.

YEAH.

THANK YOU FOR THAT COMMENT.

UM, AND I'LL SHOW SOME MORE IMAGES UP CLOSE TO THE RESTROOM AND SOME COMING SLIDES, BUT BEFORE WE GET TO THOSE, I JUST, WE HAVE AN IMAGE UP NOW OF TWO GREAT HERITAGE LIVE OAKS THAT ARE ONSITE.

THESE ARE PROBABLY THE TWO OLDEST TREES ON SITE, UM, AND THEY'RE VERY LARGE AND PROVIDE A LOT OF SHADE AND AROUND THE DECK BELOW.

SO WE HAVE A WOODEN DECK BELOW, WHICH WILL BE A SEATING AREA, UM, THAT WILL BE SUPPORT SUPPORTIVE OF THOSE FOOD TRUCKS.

SO THEY'LL BE ABLE TO GRAB SOME FOOD AND THEN COME SIT ON MO MOVABLE TABLES.

WE WILL HAVE UNDER THIS SHADE SHADED TREE AREA, UM, FOR DINING OR JUST HANGING OUT.

UH, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

HERE ARE SOME UP-CLOSE IMAGES OF THE RESTROOM WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT, AND I'LL HIGHLIGHT A FEW, A FEW FEATURES HERE OF THE RESTROOM.

UM, THE RESTAURANT BUILDING ITSELF IS, UH, CONCRETE, UM, AND IT'S VERY OPEN AND IT HAS THREE, UM, UNISEX RESTROOM STALLS, UH, AND AN ADA STALL THERE.

UM, AND ONE OF THE THINGS YOU'LL NOTICE FROM THESE IMAGES AS WE'VE PULLED THE SINK OUT OF THE RESTROOMS AND PUT IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS LARGE OPEN VESTIBULES, THAT'S KIND OF OPEN AIR VESTIBULE AND WORKING WITH, YOU KNOW, FEEDBACK FROM THE PARKS DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY, AND ALSO SOME OF OUR PARTNERS AND OTHER PARKS AROUND THE REGION AND THE COUNTRY.

A LOT OF THE FEEDBACK THAT WE HEARD WAS OFTENTIMES YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR HANDS A LOT MORE THAN YOU MIGHT NEED THE RESTROOM WHEN YOU'RE AT THE PARK WITH KIDS IN PARTICULAR.

AND I MEAN, EVEN MORE SO NOW, UM, YOU KNOW, WITH COVID INCREASED HAND-WASHING.

SO, YOU KNOW, WE PULLED THAT SINK OUT AND THE SINK WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO FOLKS, EVEN IF THE RESTROOMS ARE IN USE.

UM, AND WE HAVE THIS COOL DESIGN FEATURE AS WELL, THIS CONCRETE THINK, WHICH KIND OF SITS IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS OPEN AIRSPACE.

UM, ALSO ON THE SINK ITSELF ARE DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT'S ACCESSIBLE

[00:25:01]

FROM BOTH SIDES, INCLUDING TWO WHEELCHAIRS, UM, BECAUSE IT'S OPEN UNDERNEATH AND CAN, YOU KNOW, IT HAS THE CLEARANCE IS UNDER THERE.

UM, ADDITIONALLY I THINK YOU'LL NOTE HERE, UM, IN ORDER TO THIS WILL BE OPEN DURING ALL PARK HOURS AND WE'LL BE ABLE TO CLOSE IT IN THE EVENINGS WHEN THE PARK IS CLOSED WITH THAT LARGE GATE, YOU SEE THERE ON THE RIGHT, IF YOU CAN SEE THAT INTO LARGE METAL GATE ON WHICH CLOSES OFF THAT KIND OF OPEN VESTIBULE SPACE.

UM, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE.

UM, A COUPLE OTHER FEATURES OF THE RESTROOM BUILDING, JUST TO CALL YOUR ATTENTION TO, UM, ON THE, ON THE LEFT, YOU CAN SEE OUR DRINKING FOUNTAINS.

WE'VE GOT DRINKING FOUNTAINS THROUGHOUT THE PARK, UH, AS WELL AS BOTTLE FILLERS AND THOSE ARE ACCESSIBLE.

UM, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLES AND FILL UP AND STAY HYDRATED IN THE PARK.

AND THIS ONE IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE RESTROOM, AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE PARK.

ADDITIONALLY, ON THE RIGHT, THERE'S AN IMAGE OF ONE OF OUR CONCRETE WALLS, AND YOU CAN SEE SOME PLANTS THAT ARE STAKED AT THE BOTTOM.

UM, WE ARE GROWING VINES UP THESE WALLS TO KIND OF HELP GREEN UP, UH, THE CONCRETE ON THIS ALSO EXISTS IN THAT VESTIBULE SPACE INSIDE OF THE RESTAURANT BUILDING.

SO THERE'LL BE OPEN AIR AND ALSO WILL BE PLANTED WITH SOME NICE PLANTS TO MAKE IT FEEL MORE, UH, WELCOMING AN AREA IN THERE, UH, AS A SPACE.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

UH, HERE'S AN IMAGE OF THAT.

THINK THAT I MENTIONED EARLIER, THIS IS JUST SORT OF A LOOK DOWN THAT CONCRETE, THINK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VESTIBULE AND SHOWS THOSE FAUCETS AND HOW YOU CAN ACCESS IT FROM BOTH SIDES.

UM, I'M MORE INTERESTED IN THE, THE SIDE VIEW, LIKE WILL A WHEELCHAIR IT UNDER THERE WITHOUT KNEES KIND OF KNOCKING MOVE ON.

YES, YES.

IT WILL.

IT CAN FIT UNDER THERE FROM BOTH SIDES.

I, I DON'T KNOW THE, THE HEIGHT OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD.

WE COULD CERTAINLY FOLLOW UP WITH THAT INFORMATION, BUT IT'S ACCESSIBLE FROM BOTH SIDES FOR A WHEELCHAIR.

OKAY.

AND IF YOU COULD GO BACK TO WHAT THE RESTROOM, THE ACCESSIBLE RESTROOM IS OR WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN TIME WHEN THE DEMENTIA, IF YOU JUMP BACK TO SLIDE 26, UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE ANY IMAGES IN HERE OF THE INSIDE OF THE RESTROOM, BUT IT IS THE RESTROOM ON THE FURTHEST, RIGHT.

UM, AND THE, AND THE PHOTO OF THE THREE DOORS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT HERE.

YEAH.

WE CAN ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH PHOTOS SHOWING THE INSIDE OF THAT WITH ANY DIMENSIONS OR MEASUREMENTS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE.

YEAH, YEAH, NO PROBLEM.

UM, IF WE WANT TO JUMP BACK AHEAD TO SLIDE 29, UH, LABELED SKYWALK, UM, ONE OTHER THING I'LL NOTE IS WE'RE TRANSITIONING SLIDES ABOUT THE, THE RESTROOM BUILDING.

IS IT ALSO SERVES A CRITICAL STORAGE NEED, UH, FOR THE PARK, A LOT OF OUR PROGRAM MATERIALS TO PUT ON EVENTS CLASSES, GATHERINGS WILL BE STORED IN THERE, RIGHT ON SITE, AS WELL AS CLEANING MATERIALS AND OTHER THINGS ESSENTIAL TO KEEPING KIND OF THE CLEAN, SAFE AND PROGRAMS PARK.

SO IT SERVES THAT FUNCTION AS WELL.

ON THE SKYWALK IMAGE YOU SEE HERE SHOWED AN ELEVATED WALKWAY, WHICH SORT OF REACHES OUT LIKE A BRIDGE ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE AND THE PARK.

UM, THIS FEATURE, UH, SORT OF NAVIGATES A COUPLE OF CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SITE.

ONE OF THEM IS THAT THERE'S ALMOST A 50 FOOT GRADE CHANGE FROM THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE PARK, KIND OF NEAR TRINITY STREET AND 12TH STREET, UM, TO THE, UH, EASTERN SIDE OF THE PARK.

AND THERE ARE A LOT OF REALLY GREAT EXISTING HERITAGE OAK TREES ON KIND OF SOME OF THOSE ROCKY SURFACES IN THAT CORNER.

SO WE WANTED TO MAINTAIN AS MUCH OF THE LANDSCAPE, THE BEAUTIFUL TREES AS WE COULD, BUT PROVIDE AN ACCESSIBLE CONNECTION INTO THE PARK WITHOUT UTILIZING LOTS OF SWITCHBACK RAMPS OR LIFTS.

AND THAT WAS KIND OF ONE OF OUR OVERALL UNIVERSAL EXTENSIBILITY GOALS.

SO IF YOU JUMP TO SLIDE 30, UM, THE PRODUCT OF THIS IS WHAT WE CALL THE SKYLARK, WHICH IS THIS ELEVATED SLOPED WALKWAY, WHICH NAVIGATES THAT GRADE AND PROVIDE THESE BEAUTIFUL VIEWS INTO THE PARK.

SO FROM THIS IMAGE, YOU CAN SEE, YOU KNOW, A 12 FOOT WIDE CONCRETE PATHWAY WITH A HANDRAIL ON EITHER SIDE.

THOSE HANDRAILS ALSO HAVE INTEGRATED LIGHTING FOR SAFETY, AND THAT WALKWAY MOVES OVER TOP OF GARDENS BELOW.

AND THEN THROUGH THE CANOPY OF LIVE OAK TREES, WHICH YOU CAN SEE IN THIS IMAGE.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE, HERE'S JUST A BETTER SHOT SHOWING SOME OF THE GARDENS BELOW IN THIS IMAGE.

YOU CAN SEE PLANTS GOING INTO GARDENS,

[00:30:01]

WHICH GO ADJACENT TO, AND UNDERNEATH THIS ELEVATED CONCRETE WALKWAY, UM, AND FOLKS, OUR FOLKS ARE WORKING ON PLANTING THAT IN THIS IMAGE.

THEY'RE PRETTY MUCH IN NOW.

UM, ALSO YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS IMAGE, WE WANTED THIS, UH, ELEVATED BRIDGE, ELEVATED WALKWAY TO, YOU KNOW, BE AS THIN AS POSSIBLE.

SO IT REALLY COULD FEEL LIKE IT'S FLOATING THROUGH THE LANDSCAPE.

SO THE PROFILE OF THIS OF THIS BRIDGE IS VERY NARROW FROM THE SIDE.

IT ALMOST HAS A BOAT BIKE SHAPE ON THE BOTTOM, AND THEN IT HAS BEEN, UM, DARK PAINTED COLUMNS, WHICH KIND OF LAND IN THE LANDSCAPE AND BLEND IN WITH THE TREES AND PLANTING.

SO NOT ONLY WILL THIS NAVIGATE THE GRADES AND PROVIDE THIS GREAT ACCESSIBLE, SHARED USE CONNECTION, UM, IT WILL ALSO PROVIDE, UH, GREAT VIEWS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO BE UP IN THE TREE CANOPY.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE SLIDE 32.

ONE OF THE AREAS THAT THIS ELEVATED SKYWAY IN CIRCLES IS THE COMMUNITY PLAZA WE CALL IT, WHICH IS THIS SMALL GATHERING SPACE NESTLED INSIDE OF ONE OF THE CURVES OF THAT, UH, S SHAPED WALKWAY AND SURROUNDED BY PLANTINGS ON ONE SIDE AND SORT OF THE BACK OF THIS IMAGE.

YOU CAN SEE SOME LIMESTONE SEATING AND AN OPEN FLAT SPACE FOR ADDITIONAL SEATING.

WE ENVISION THE SPACE AS SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU COULD HAVE, YOU KNOW, BUSKING OR OTHER SORT OF IMPROMPTU PERFORMANCE, BUT ALSO IT MIGHT BE A GOOD PLACE TO HAVE SMALLER GATHERING, SMALLER EVENTS, UH, CHILDREN'S PERFORMANCES, AND THE SPACE HAS THE POWER HOOKUPS, WATER, UM, AND LIGHTING TO SUPPORT THOSE TYPES OF EVENTS EASILY WITHOUT A LOT OF DISRUPTION TO THE OTHER PARK USES.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, SLIDE 33, PLEASE.

UM, IMAGE LABELED HILL COUNTRY GARDEN REALLY HIGHLIGHTS THE SKYWALK AND THE, AND THE GRADES THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER.

AND SO IF YOU'D TAKEN FROM A DRONE LOOKING DOWN ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE PARK AND SHOWING THE WAY THE SKYWAY AND THE PATHWAYS SORT OF SNAKE THROUGH THAT LANDSCAPE AND THOSE EXISTING HERITAGE TREES, YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE CIRCULAR PLAZA THAT I JUST SHOWED YOU A PHOTO OF SURROUNDED BY THAT WALKWAY.

SO I THINK THIS KIND OF GIVES YOU A SENSE OF HOW WE'RE ABLE TO MAKE THIS WALKWAY SORT OF SPIRAL THROUGH THE PARK EXCESSIVELY, AND THEN CONNECT TO THOSE KEY LOCATIONS.

YOU CAN ALSO SEE THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ACCESSIBLE PATHWAYS.

SO WITHIN THIS, YOU CAN SEE A PATHWAY WHICH MOVES ITS WAY THROUGH THE GARDEN AND HAS A DIFFERENT SEATING AREAS, WHICH WE'LL SHOW YOU IN A MOMENT.

UM, AND ANOTHER WAY TO MOVE YOUR THROUGH THE PARK, UH, ACCESSIBLY AND CONNECT TO THOSE SPACES.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

AND SLIDE 34, JUST A, ANOTHER IMAGE OF SOME OF THE BEAUTIFUL GARDENS.

UM, WE HAD A REAL FOCUS OF WORKING WITH THE EXISTING HERITAGE OAK TREES AND THE SHADE THAT THEY CREATE, AND THIS IMAGE SHOWS ONE OF THOSE HERITAGE OAKS AND THEN THE SHADED AREA UNDERNEATH IT.

UM, WITH PLANTINGS THAT WE PUT IN THE FOCUS IS ON NATIVE PLANTINGS, UM, THAT REALLY KIND OF IMITATE OUR SORT OF LOCAL HILL COUNTRY LANDSCAPE, BUT KIND OF PUMP IT UP, YOU KNOW, IT'S, IT'S THAT, THAT ARE REALLY HIGH AND FOCUSED AND ELEVATED LEVEL.

SO IT CREATES THIS, UH, GARDEN EXPERIENCE.

UH, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE ON SLIDE 35, UH, WE'RE SHOWING A RENDERING OF THE HILL COUNTRY GARDEN, WHICH SHOWS SHADE UNDERNEATH THESE HERITAGE, OAK TREES, UM, KIDS RUNNING THROUGH THESE SUCCESSFUL PATHWAYS AND THEN SEATING AREAS, WHICH ARE KIND OF NESTLED INTO ELBOWS OF THE PATH BENEATH THE TREES.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

THIS IS A SLIGHTLY OUTDATED IMAGE CAUSE WE HAVE THE PLANTS AND, BUT IT DOES A GOOD JOB OF SHOWING THESE BENCHES THAT ARE INTEGRATED INTO THE ACCESSIBLE PATHWAYS HERE UNDERNEATH THE TREES.

THIS AREA HAS SINCE BEEN PLANTED RIGHT NOW IN THIS IMAGE, IT SHOWS A BUNCH OF SORT OF RAW DIRT THAT HAD NOT YET BEEN, UH, PUT TOP SOIL PUT ON IT AND PLANTED, BUT NOW IT'S FULLY PLANTED AND YOU CAN SEE IN THIS IMAGE, UM, ONE OF THE THINGS BEING SHOWN HERE IS, UH, THERE'S A LOT OF SHADE COVERING THOSE SEATING AREAS.

SO, YOU KNOW, IF YOU'RE, IF YOU'RE MOVING THROUGH THE PARK AND MAYBE IN A LITTLE BIT OF A HURRY, YOU CAN USE THE WIDER ELEVATED PATHWAY TO MOVE, UH, TO YOUR LOCATION.

BUT IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO JUST SIT DOWN AND ENJOY SOME NICE, COOL SHADE AND EXPERIENCE A GARDEN, YOU CAN MOVE THROUGH THESE PATHWAYS A LITTLE BIT SLOWER AND TAKE A SEAT AND SOME OF THE BENCHES ON NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

ONE MORE IMAGE THAT SHOWS, UM, THE SKYWAY, UH, COMING OUT OF THE HILLSIDE, UM, AND PLANTING A LOT OF THOSE LOW GROUND COVER PLANTS.

YOU CAN SEE THE CAPITOL IN THE BACKGROUND AND THEN THOSE EXISTING HERITAGE, OAK TREES PROVIDING SHADE ON SITE.

AND I THINK THIS JUST KIND OF GIVES YOU A SENSE OF THIS MULTILAYERED, UH, NATIVE LANDSCAPE WITH PLANTS OF DIFFERENT

[00:35:01]

SIZES, REALLY DENSELY PLANTED TO CREATE THIS ROBUST GARDEN.

UM, NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE CONDITIONER TURNS OUT THE, WOW, IT LOOKS LIKE A, LIKE A LUNG STONE PATH THAT'S GOING THROUGH THE GARDENS.

IT LOOKS LIKE THOSE ARE STEPS, RIGHT? SO THAT'S NOT A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE PATH, CORRECT.

THIS IS AN INFORMAL PATH THAT WE CALL A SCRAMBLE, WHICH MOVES THROUGH SOME AREAS OF THE GARDEN, JUST OFF SCREEN TO THE BOTTOM.

THERE'S THOSE ACCESSIBLE PATHWAYS KIND OF THROUGH AND AROUND THOSE PATHWAYS AS WELL.

SO WE KIND OF HAVE THREE DIFFERENT PATHS, WHICH ARE INTERCHANGING.

TWO OF THOSE ARE FULLY ACCESSIBLE IN THIS INFORMAL SCRAMBLED PATHWAY IS NOT, IT DOES HAVE, IT DOES HAVE STEPS.

I'M ON SLIDE 38 LABELED TRINITY STREET.

UM, JUST WANTING TO HIGHLIGHT, YOU KNOW, ONE, YOU CAN SEE THE, THE ARCHITECTURE IN THIS IMAGE IN THE, IN THE BACKGROUND, YOU CAN SEE THE CANOPY, WHICH IS A WHITE STEEL STRUCTURE.

UH, YOU KNOW, AS MOST, UH, POINTED OUT IT'S ACTUALLY MADE OF FIVE MILES OF STEEL IBN.

SO A LOT OF STEEL UP IN THERE PROVIDING THAT SHADE AND SORT OF AN ARCHITECTURAL SCULPTURAL OBJECT IN THE PARK, UM, AND THE STAGE AND PLAZA BELOW IN THE FOREGROUND, YOU CAN SEE THE SIDEWALK ON TRENDY STREET, WHICH WAS JUST REBUILT.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE DONE HERE AND ON ALMOST ALL OF THE SIDE, THREE OF THE SIDES OF THE PARK IS REPLACE AND EXPAND THE WIDTH OF THE SIDEWALKS.

UM, AND ON THIS STREET PUT IN NEW GREAT STREET FEATURES LIKE SHADE TREES AND BENCHES AS WELL.

SO, YOU KNOW, OUTSIDE OF THE PARK, ALSO, THIS PROJECT HAS TAKEN ON REBUILDING AND IMPROVING A LOT OF THE EXISTING SIDEWALKS, UH, WITH MANY OF WHICH WERE NOT IN GOOD SHAPE.

UM, AND THEN NEXT SLIDE, THAT'S THOSE, THE SLIDES WE HAVE WITH, UH, IMAGES AND, YOU KNOW, AT THIS POINT WHERE WE'RE HAPPY TO TAKE ANY, ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE, AND THANKS FOR LETTING US, UH, GIVE YOU THIS PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN THAT TIME FOR MAYBE ONE OR TWO QUESTIONS.

WE'LL HAVE TO MOVE ON.

OH, IT'S FINISHED.

YOUR CURRENT GOES TO A WHILE.

SO, UM, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR COMING.

I THINK I WAS THE PERSON ON ONE OF THOSE PUBLIC, UM, UM, UH, WEBEX MEETINGS.

AND I HAD ASKED ABOUT THE ACCESS OF THE BATHROOMS. UM, YOU HAD MENTIONED EARLIER THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER SPOT THAT YOU COULD POTENTIALLY PUT AN ACCESSIBLE BATHROOM THAT HAS AN ADULT SIZE AND TAKING TABLE.

IS THAT WITHIN THE PARK OR IS IT SOMEWHERE ELSE? THAT'S, THAT'S WITHIN THE GREENWAY.

UM, BUT IT IS, UM, A LITTLE FURTHER SOUTH IT'S IT'S HISTORIC PALM PARK, AND THAT IS ONE OF THE NEXT PHASES OF DESIGN THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET BACK INTO SHORTLY HERE.

SO WE WILL BE DOING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AROUND THAT AND RESTARTING THE DESIGN.

SO THAT WILL BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THIS.

OKAY.

AND WILL WE BE ABLE TO SHARE YOUR CONTACT INFO WITH DAVID OR JUDY? SO WE CAN, UM, I SENT AN EMAIL WITH SOME INFORMATION ABOUT ADULT SIZED TABLES.

SO I HAPPY TO BOARD THAT IF YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE THAT.

THANK YOU.

YEAH, WE WILL BE HAPPY TO OUR EMAILS HERE IN THIS INFORMATION AND PLEASE, UH, DAVID, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE IT WITH ANY COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

UM, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE THAT INFO.

THIS IS CHAIRMAN FRANK KIND OF PROJECTED, UM, FINALIZED COMPLETION DATE THAT Y'ALL ARE KIND OF FORECASTING.

YEAH, THANKS.

SO THAT'S A, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION, OBVIOUSLY.

UM, YOU KNOW, THE PANDEMIC HAS EVERYBODY IN A DIFFERENT STATE THESE DAYS, UM, BUT WE'RE STILL WORKING AWAY TO TRY TO OPEN THIS SPRING.

UM, AND WE WANNA CONTINUE TRACKING COVID TO MAKE SURE THAT WE OPEN IN A SAFE TIME.

UM, SO WE DON'T HAVE A SPECIFIC DATE YET, BUT WE'RE HAPPY TO UPDATE YOU ALL ONCE WE DO HAVE THAT AVAILABLE.

ANY OTHER QUICK QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT.

WELL, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR COMING IN AND PRESENTING TO US, BUT I NOTICED IT MEANS A LOT TO THE COMMISSIONER OFFICER WHILE SHE, THIS IS A TERM, ESPECIALLY FOR HER PERSONAL SITUATION FOR HER SON.

SO I DEFINITELY APPRECIATE Y'ALL TAKING THE TIME TO COME TO SPEAK INTO OUR COMMISSION.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU ALL.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

ALL RIGHT.

AFTER LOOKING OVER THE AGENDA, JUST REALLY BRIEFLY, UM, WE DO HAVE ANOTHER PRESENTATION, SO I WOULD LIKE TO MOVE THAT UP TO THE NEXT SLOT, UNLESS ANYONE HAS ANY OBJECTIONS

[00:40:05]

HEARING NONE.

THEN WE HAVE A PRESENTATION FROM THE OFFICE OF

[2F. Presentation and Discussion Austin Transportation Department (ATD) Smart Mobility, Hannah Barron, ATD Public Information Specialist Sr. ]

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT ABOUT SMART MOBILITY, HANNAH, HANNAH BARON.

I PRONOUNCE YOUR LAST NAME CORRECTLY.

PROPOSERS.

YES, YOU DID.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

UM, THIS IS HANNAH BARRON FROM THE AUSTIN TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT.

I WORK IN, UM, SMART MOBILITY AND ACTUALLY THIS IS JUST GOING TO BE MORE OF A, A BRIEF INTRODUCTION.

I THINK WE'LL BE BACK IN FEBRUARY WITH A FULL, UM, A FULL PRESENTATION.

UM, BUT, UM, I BEEN IN SOME CONVERSATIONS WITH DAVID, UM, AND, UM, JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND.

UM, LAST YEAR, THE CITY OF AUSTIN, UM, ENGAGED IN AN INITIATIVE, UM, WITH FORD MOBILITY TO INCREASE ACCESS TO HEALTHY LIVING, UM, SPECIFICALLY IN THE EASTERN CRESCENT AND OVER ABOUT AN EIGHT MONTH PROCESS.

UM, WE WENT THROUGH SEVERAL DIFFERENT PHASES WHERE WE DID SOME COMMUNITY OUTREACH, UM, WHICH WE CALLED AN EXPLORE PHASE.

UM, WE THEN WENT THROUGH, UM, DURING THE EXPLORE PHASE, WE MET WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT COMMUNITY GROUPS, UM, SUCH AS SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, UM, AND TALK TO EACH ONE OF THEM AND JUST GOT A GENERAL SENSE OF KIND OF MAIN PAIN POINTS IN, IN, UM, ACCESSING HEALTHY LIVING.

UH, FROM THERE, WE TOOK ALL OF THAT AND COMPILED IT INTO A BIG REPORT AND WE SHARED THAT REPORT WITH THE PUBLIC AND OPENED IT UP TO KIND OF ANYONE AND EVERYONE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL.

SO, UM, THROUGH THAT PROCESS, WE RECEIVED 150 PROPOSALS, UM, BOTH LOCAL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL.

UM, AND THROUGH A SERIES THAT WE WORKED WITH A STEERING COMMITTEE, UM, MADE UP OF A BUNCH OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS THROUGH THAT PROCESS.

WE NARROWED THAT DOWN TO 12, 12 FINALISTS.

UM, AND THEN THE 12 FINALISTS WENT THROUGH A REFINED PERIOD WHERE WE HAVE THEM LOOK AT, UM, YOU KNOW, GET VERY FAMILIAR WITH AUSTIN, UM, GO THROUGH SOME LIKE RACIAL EQUITY TRAININGS OF WHAT WE'RE, WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO.

UM, AND THEN THEY WERE RESUBMITTED THAT WAS PROPOSED PROPOSALS.

SO OUT OF 150, WE DROPPED TO 12.

AND THEN WE, UM, LAST DECEMBER ACTUALLY, UM, NARROWED IT DOWN TO TWO FINALISTS.

SO ONE OF THE FINALISTS WAS, UM, GOOD APPLE, WHICH, UM, THROUGH THE PANDEMIC, WE WORKED WITH THEM, UM, AND LAUNCH THE STAY HOME, STAY HEALTHY PROGRAM.

UM, AND NOW WE ARE IN THE PILOT STAGE FOR TAPPY GUIDE AND, UM, UNFORTUNATELY JOHN WHO WAS GOING TO TALK ABOUT HEAVY GUIDE IT, UM, JUMP OFF, BUT WE'LL BE BACK IN JANUARY.

ALL RIGHT.

UM, SO JOHN, GO AHEAD.

UM, YEAH, YOU CAN TALK ABOUT TABBY GUIDE A LITTLE BIT AND WE'LL, UM, GET, GO AHEAD.

THANK YOU, ANNA.

AND THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK, UH, JOHN PETROS BORN AND RAISED IN DETROIT, SPENT ABOUT 12 YEARS IN AUTOMOTIVE AS AN ENGINEER.

UM, I DO HAVE SOME PERSONAL BACKGROUND.

UH, BROTHER'S SISTER AND TWO COUSINS WHO WERE BORN VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO IS WHEN I DECIDED TO, TO LAUNCH TAPI GUIDE.

ESSENTIALLY WHAT WE DO IS WE HELP CITIES AND TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS BECOME SMARTER FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.

A LOT OF TIMES WHEN PEOPLE SPEAK OF TRANSPORTATION, IT'S GETTING FROM POINT A TO POINT B A TEMPE GUIDE IS A SOLUTION THAT HELPS IDENTIFY POINT A AND ACTUALLY HELPS, UH, NAVIGATE USERS AFTER POINT B.

ESSENTIALLY WHAT WE DO IS PROVIDE BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR NAVIGATION FOR OUR USERS.

UM, IT'S A QUICK, UH, JUST A QUICK DESCRIPTION.

WE SET UP A CALL CENTER WHERE OUR USERS DIAL INTO OUR CALL CENTER AND, UM, OUR AGENTS RECEIVE TWO LIVE DATA FEEDS FROM OUR USERS.

THE FIRST LIVE DATA FEED THAT OUR, OUR AGENTS RECEIVE AS A LIVE CELL PHONE VIEW, SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND A REAL-TIME ENVIRONMENT.

AND THE SECOND DATA FEED THAT WE RECEIVE FROM OUR USERS IS THEIR GPS LOCATION ON A GOOGLE MAP, TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY ARE ON A MAP AND USING BOTH PIECES OF DATA, WE CAN HELP, UH, BASICALLY GUIDE AND NAVIGATE OUR USERS TO WHERE THEY WANT TO GO.

SO, AS AN EXAMPLE, IF A BLIND PERSON NEEDS TO LOCATE A BUS STOP, IF THEY NEED TO LOCATE A FRONT DOOR TO A BUILDING, OR WE CAN EVEN TAKE IT ONE STEP FURTHER AND PROVIDE INDOOR NAVIGATION.

SO IF SOMEONE'S LOOKING FOR A RESTROOM IN A GROCERY STORE OR LOOKING FOR A HELP DESK IN A CITY BUILDING, WE CAN HELP THEM WITH THAT.

I'M ALSO HELPING THE, UH, THOSE WHO HAVE A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS.

WE CAN HELP THEM LOCATE PARKING STRUCTURES, PARKING SPOTS, UH, ANY SPACES THAT ARE AVAILABLE.

AND THEN FOR THE DEAF COMMUNITY, WE CAN HELP THEM COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER INDIVIDUALS AS BEING THE, UH, THE THIRD PARTY.

UM, SO WE PARTNERED UP WITH, WITH FORD AND THE CITY OF AUSTIN, UH, WE'RE CURRENTLY LOOKING TO WORK AND ESTABLISH RESOURCES AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF AUSTIN.

[00:45:02]

AND WE'RE, WE HAVE, UH, YOU KNOW, WE'RE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP TEST, AND THEN WE DO ALSO HAVE SOME PAID POSITIONS AS WELL TO HELP, UH, TEST AS WELL.

SO THAT'S, UH, THAT'S PRETTY MUCH TAPPED AGAIN, IN A NUTSHELL, AS, AS HANNAH MENTIONED, UH, NEXT MONTH, WE'LL BE ABLE TO PUT ON A LITTLE BIT MORE OF A MORE IN DEPTH AND, AND SHOW A PRESENTATION AND GETTING A MORE DETAIL ON HOW IT WORKS.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, JOHN.

AND YEAH, IF, IF, UM, IN THE MEANTIME FROM NOW TO THEN IF THERE'S, UM, SPECIFIC, SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, UM, OR IF SOMEBODY WANTS TO BE INVOLVED OR KNOW MORE, UM, DAVID P PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE MY CONTACT OR I'M HAPPY TO EMAIL THE GROUP OR HOWEVER WOULD, UM, BEST FACILITATE THAT.

WE'LL DO.

THANK YOU, HANNAH.

ALL RIGHT.

THIS IS MR. BROWN.

UM, I JUST HAD A QUICK QUESTION WHO AS WELL, 64.

WHAT'S YOUR GUESS, SIR.

COMMISSIONER SCHROCK.

OKAY.

SORRY ABOUT THAT.

IF, UH, UH, MY END IS KINDA GONE, THE FEEDBACK IS GOING IN AND OUT ON THIS, THE QUESTION IS FOR JOHN, AS, UH, AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, I'M A BLIND INDIVIDUAL LIVING IN AUSTIN.

UM, THERE ARE DIFFERENT SERVICES ALREADY OUT THERE SUCH AS IRA AND MY THAT ARE DOING THE SIMILAR THING.

SO BASICALLY MY QUESTION IS, IS THERE A COST GOING TO BE ASSOCIATED LIKE A SUFFICIENT SUBSCRIPTION COSTS, UH, TO UTILIZE CAMPY GUIDE, OR IS IT MORE OF A VOLUNTEER BASIS OR WHAT KIND OF, WHAT KIND OF FINANCIAL COSTS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THESE DIGITALIZING, YOUR SERVICE? GREAT QUESTION.

SO FOR OUR USERS, IT'S FREE, UH, BUT FOR, UH, COMPANIES WHO WANT TO MAKE, YOU KNOW, THEIR, THEIR LARGE BUILDINGS MORE ACCESSIBLE, THE CHARGE GOES TO THEM.

UM, AND WHAT KIND OF SEPARATES US FROM BE MY EYES AND IRA IS NOT ONLY THAT WE ARE FREE OF CHARGE, BUT WE ALSO, UH, MORE NOT JUST FOR THE VISION IMPAIRED AND BLIND COMMUNITY, RIGHT.

WE HELP THE DEAF AND EVERYONE ELSE.

SO THAT'S KIND OF WHAT SETS US ASIDE FROM EVERYONE ELSE, BUT FOR, FOR ALL OF OUR USERS, IT'S A FREE, FREE OF COST.

GREAT.

I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT INFORMATION LAST YEAR INSURANCE.

YEAH.

SO I, UH, HAVE BEEN LOOKING OVER THE TAPI GUIDE WEBSITE AND I WOULD JUST RECOMMEND THAT YOU LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT CURRENT BEST PRACTICES AND RESPECTFUL LANGUAGE TO TALK ABOUT DISABILITY.

UM, CAUSE A LOT OF THE TERMS THAT YOU HAVE LISTED ON YOUR WEBSITE ARE NOT, UM, IN LINE WITH THE PREFERRED LANGUAGE RELATED TO DISABILITY.

YEAH.

GREAT POINT.

SO CURRENTLY WE'LL WORK, WE ARE WORKING WITH, UH, THE TEXAS SCHOOL OF THE BLIND AND OTHER DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS AND THEY ARE, UH, WE HAVE OUTSOURCED FOR THEM TO CREATE SENSITIVITY MATERIAL, UM, AND SENSITIVITY TRAINING MATERIAL AND, UH, VERBIAGE FOR US TO, TO BRING THAT UP TO, TO, UH, TO CODE BASICALLY.

BUT THAT'S DEFINITELY WORK IN PROGRESS.

GREAT.

I'LL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THOSE UPDATES.

YEAH.

GREAT.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO DO THAT.

UH, ANY OTHER QUICK QUESTIONS ON THE COMMISSION, MR. , UM, UH, QUESTION FLESH, A STATEMENT, UM, I WILL BE INTERESTED AND I'M KNOWING IS MORE VALUABLE AS A WHOLE AND THE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL.

SO, UM, YOU CAN SHARE THAT INFORMATION, UM, WITH EVERYONE OR JUST ONLINE, UH, EMAIL TOO.

UM, I WOULD LOVE TO HELP WITH SOMETHING LIKE THAT, UM, VOLUNTEER OR PAID A POSITION.

ABSOLUTELY.

UM, I WILL DEFINITELY FOLLOW UP WITH DAVID, UM, SO THAT WE CAN GET YOU THAT INFORMATION.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT.

ANY OTHER FINAL QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT.

HEARING NONE.

THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING IN.

WE DEFINITELY LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING Y'ALL COME BACK IN A SEAT NEAR FUTURE.

OKAY.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU, ANTHONY.

THANKS EVERYONE.

ALL RIGHT, MOVING DOWN THE AGENDA.

NEXT UP IS DISCUSSION ABOUT NOMINATIONS FOR DISABILITY, EMPLOYMENT AWARDS, VICE CHAIR,

[2B. Update from Disability Employment Awards working group regarding the receipt of nominations for the 2020/2021 Disability Employment Awards – Commissioners Shryock and Trejo ]

SHREK AND COMMISSIONER TRAIL, OR IS YOURS.

BUT AT THIS POINT I DON'T BELIEVE WE EVER RECEIVED ANY NOMINATIONS.

UM, WE'VE BEEN PROMOTING THESE SINCE NOVEMBER, SO MY RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE SINCE WE PRETTY MUCH MISSED OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE ANYONE FOR 2020, MY RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE THAT WE WOULD KIND OF SKIP THAT YEAR, UM, KIND OF STOP NOMINATIONS AND THEN RESUME AND GET BACK ON OUR,

[00:50:01]

UH, MORE REGULAR SCHEDULE IN THE FALL SO WE CAN KIND OF GET BACK ON TRACK WITH THAT.

OKAY.

YEAH.

I THINK AT THAT POINT IS AT THIS POINT, THAT MIGHT BE, UM, PROBABLY THE BEST THING TO DO.

UM, UH, THIS IS TOM.

I HAVE MY HAND UP.

YEAH, GO AHEAD.

GREAT.

I'D LIKE TO RECOMMEND KEEPING IT OPEN, ONGOING TO SEE MAYBE DURING THE SPRING, IF WE HAVE BETTER NOMINATIONS THAT ARE KIND OF ADDED TO SPRINGTIME BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT PRIORITIES RIGHT NOW, YOU KNOW, CONCERNING COVID AND OTHER SITUATIONS THEY'RE EXPERIENCING.

SO IT'S A LITTLE MORE MATH, SO MAYBE IF WE COULD JUST FOCUS BETTER ON THE NOMINATIONS, IF WE JUST LEAVE IT OPEN, JUST KEEP IT OPEN DURING MAYBE TWO OR THREE MORE MONTHS AND SEE WHAT KIND OF TURNS OUT.

THAT'S MY SUGGESTION.

THIS IS, THIS IS COMMISSIONER .

UM, I THINK THAT'S A GREAT SUGGESTION TO JUST LEAVE IT OPEN.

UM, IN OTHER WORDS, DO THE SAME, DO BOTH WHAT EMILY SAID AND WHAT THE COMMISSIONER BERT SAID.

SO IF WE COULD MAKE SURE THAT THE TEXT ON THE WEBSITE IS EDITED, THAT DOESN'T STAY THE DEADLINE, BUT THAT SAYS, YOU KNOW, HERE'S HOW YOU SUBMIT NOMINATIONS.

AND THEN IF WE GET ANY WE'LL KNOW, AND IN OCTOBER OR TWO, I KNOW WHEN WE'LL START IN AUGUST, MAYBE WE'LL SAY, OH, WE HAVE ONE OR WHATEVER WE HAVE NONE STILL.

YEAH.

YEAH.

SOUNDS GOOD.

THIS IS COMMISSIONER BURKE.

I AGREE.

UH, THIS IS CHAIR PRANKS ALSO THING.

WHAT WILL BE GREAT IS, UM, MAYBE AT THIS POINT, IF WE'RE NOT RECEIVING, UM, NOMINATIONS OR AT LEAST MEET QUARTERLY OR EVERY OTHER MONTH, JUST TO KIND OF MAYBE GAME PLAN, MAYBE THIS, I MEAN, I UNDERSTAND THAT WITH THE PANDEMIC, UH, THIS MAY NOT BE AS FEASIBLE AS IN YEARS PAST, BUT LEAST GAME PLAN.

MAYBE THE STRATEGIES THAT DIDN'T WORK LET'S, LET'S TRY ANOTHER OUTREACH STRATEGY AND, UM, JUST KEEP REACHING OUT TO OUR DISABILITY COMMUNITY CONTACTS, UM, TRYING TO DO OUR BEST AS WE CAN TO PROMOTE THESE, UH, THESE AWARDS SO THAT, YOU KNOW, THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE REC PROPERLY RECOGNIZED.

SO THE WORK THAT THEY DO FOR THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THIS SUBJECT? ALL RIGHT.

HEARING NONE.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT SUBJECT OR AGENDA TOPIC.

UM, NEXT IS THE

[2C. Update from 2021 Quality of Life Budget working group – Commissioners Gidseg, Orlowski and Brooks ]

UPDATE ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE BUDGET, UH, WORKING GROUP FROM THE CHEMISTRY GETS IT, OUR LAST GAME BOOKS, LOOK, THIS BOOK'S NOT HERE UNLESS YOU SHOWED UP WHERE'S YOURS.

HELLO? OKAY.

THIS YEAR WE HAD SOME CHANGES BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC.

UM, WE HAVE, UH, SOME SPECIFIC DATES.

UH, THEY WERE SENT OUT IN THE, UM, IN THE EMAIL, WHICH DAVID HAD FORWARDED, UM, WE'RE TO HAVE THREE DATES, THREE ONLINE DATES, UH, WHERE WE CAN, UM, DO THE BUDGET MEETING, UM, C UH, AND, UM, WE THREE DATES WHEN WE CAN DO THE BEDROOM MEETING ARE, UH, UH, THEY ARE, UH, FEBRUARY 9TH, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH, AT 6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM.

UH, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH AT 6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH AT 6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM.

UM, EACH FORM WILL COVER ONE OF THREE, UH, AREAS, SAFETY, HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, UH, CULTURE AND AFFORDABILITY.

UH, THESE WERE VOTED ON AT THE BUDGET MEETING, UM, ATTENDED, UH, THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION IS GOING TO FORWARD A SURVEY MODEL.

THEY HAD WORKED ON LAST YEAR, UH, WHICH WERE GOING EVERY QUALITY OF LIFE.

COMMISSION HAS BEEN OURS IS GOING TO, I'VE BEEN

[00:55:01]

POSTING BY, AT THE END OF THE, UH, FORUMS. AND, UM, IT'S NOT GOING TO BE FEASIBLE FOR EACH COMMISSION TO RUN ITS OWN LITTLE SEPARATE BUDGET FORUM, UM, BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE OUR SEPARATE BUDGETS, BUT I, THE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE SEPARATE EVENTS.

THE CITY CAN'T DO THAT BECAUSE THEN SPACE BECAUSE THE TIMING CONSIDERATIONS, JUST BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC, THAT THAT'S WHAT MAKES SENSE.

WE'RE GOING AFTER THE WORK TOGETHER AND THEN PANDEMIC SITUATION.

UM, BUT YES, WE'RE ALL GOING TO ATTEND EACH OTHER'S FORUMS AND OFFER CONSTRUCTIVE COLLABORATION.

YES.

CAUSE THERE ARE WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES.

THERE ARE AFRICAN AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES.

UH, THERE ARE GAYS AND LESBIANS WITH DISABILITIES.

THERE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS IS DISABILITIES OR ARE IMMIGRANTS WITH DISABILITIES.

SO WE'RE ALL GOOD BUDDY SYSTEM AND BE SMART, A STRONGER CITY BECAUSE OF IT.

UM, AND THAT'S WHAT THAT BUDGET FORUM, UM, JUSTIN, UM, AND SHE DID PROVIDE A CONTACT INFORMATION FOR ANY OF THAT.

I, FOR ANY CLARIFICATION, UH, WE DO NEED TO GET TO WORK ON THAT BECAUSE, UH, LET'S SEE.

UM, LET'S SEE, THE DEADLINE IS GOING TO COME UP VERY SHORTLY.

UM, WE HAVE A VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME TO WORK ON THAT.

UM, WE HAVE TO HAVE THE BUDGET IN BY, I BELIEVE COMMISSIONER LASKEY.

I HAVE THAT INFORMATION IF YOU'D LIKE ME TO SHARE IT.

SURE.

IT'S APRIL 9TH.

WE NEED TO TURN IN OUR RECOMMENDATIONS BY THANK YOU SO MUCH.

INVITE APRIL 24 MINUTES.

SO IF WE WANT TO, UM, KIND OF TRY TO START TO TRANSITION INTO THE, UM, SOME OF THE AGENDA TOPIC, JUST A LITTLE BIT TO THE NEXT PART, TALKING ABOUT WHEN

[2E. Discussion and action to select a date to hold budget town hall meeting. Chair Franks and full committee ]

WE WANT TO HAVE THE OPEN, UM, TOWN HALL MEETING REGARDING THE BUDGET FOR THE COMMUNITY.

I WANT TO SEE, UH, GATHER WHERE WE ALL THINK WE SHOULD HAVE THIS.

UM, HMM.

UM, THAT'S KIND OF THE NEXT THING WE HAVE TO HAVE IT AT ONE OF THE DATES THAT I JUST MENTIONED.

UM, THIS IS COMMISSIONER , RIGHT.

I SPOKE WITH AMANDA, UH, TODAY AND SHE WAS SAYING THAT THE CITY CLERK DOES SUGGEST THAT EACH COMMISSION OR COMMITTEE HAS THEIR OWN EVENTS SEPARATELY FROM THE THREE THAT ARE THE AGENDA FOR THE JOINT, UM, THE JOINT MEETINGS, BUT BE FACILITATED BY ANYBODY.

SO WE WOULD BE ON FOR THAT.

AND THAT'S ALL RIGHT, BECAUSE WE CAN HAVE IT SEPARATE, BUT WE CAN'T VOTE ON ANYTHING IF WE HAVE IT.

WELL, THE POINT OF THE FORUM IS TO GET TO GATHER FEEDBACK FROM THE COMMUNITY.

SO THERE'S NOTHING WE COULD REALLY, I MEAN, VOTE ON THAT, THAT NEEDED.

YEAH.

RIGHT.

TRADITIONALLY WE'VE HAD

[01:00:01]

A MEETING WE'VE HAD GATHERED FEEDBACK AS PART OF A REGULAR MEETING WHERE WE VOTED, UM, WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT.

UM, WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO VOTE ON ANYTHING.

UM, AND WE WEREN'T HAVING A WELL TO THAT POINT ON THIS AGENDA DOES SAY DISCUSSION AND ASK THEM TO VOTE ON A NEW DATE SO WE CAN VOTE ON IT, THIS MEETING, RIGHT.

IF IT WERE INFORMAL.

SO WHEN I KIND OF GATHERED THE PULSE OF THE COMMISSION, UM, WHEN Y'ALL THINK WE PUT IN, SHOULD HAVE THIS, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE PUBLIC, THE PUBLIC, UH, COMMENT, MEANING, BUT COMMENT ON YES.

SO FOR COMMERCIAL BROADWATER, SINCE YOU'RE NEW, UM, TYPICALLY EVERY YEAR WE HOLD IN, WHAT'S CALLED AN OPEN TOWN HALL MEETING FOR THE DISABILITY POPULATION OR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO SPEAK ON DISABILITY ISSUES THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON THE ANNUAL BUDGET PLAN.

WE RECOMMEND TUESDAY THE COUNCIL.

SO WE TYPICALLY IN THE PAST IT WOULD BE PERSON.

WE FELT, YOU KNOW, IT'S KIND OF LIKE FINGER FOODS AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

AND THEN THE COMMITTEE, UH, PEOPLE FROM THE COMMITTEE, UH, COMMUNITY COME IN AND SPEAK ON DIFFERENT ISSUES.

UM, THIS YEAR WE CAN'T DO THAT.

THERE'LL BE VIRTUAL, BUT BASICALLY THE SAME PRINT, THE SAME INTENSE, OKAY.

WE NEED COMMUNITY USER INPUT, CHAIR FRANCS.

THIS IS DAVID ON-DECK, THE STAFF LIAISON.

AND I JUST WANTED TO MENTION TO THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS THAT, UM, THE, UH, OPEN FORUM DOES NOT NECESSARILY HAVE TO BE ON A REGULAR MEETING DAY.

UM, THE, UH, COMMITTEE COULD DECIDE TO HOLD THE OPEN FORUM ON MARCH 1ST OR MARCH 20TH.

UM, NOW I DO WANT TO MENTION THAT SINCE THE RECOMMENDED RECOMMENDATIONS ARE DUE, UH, TO THE BUDGET OFFICE ON APRIL 9TH, I'M NOT SURE WHAT DATE THE APRIL MEETING THE, UH, REGULAR MEETING IS OF THE MAYOR'S COMMITTEE IN APRIL, BUT THE, THE, THE FORUM WOULD HAVE TO BE EARLY ENOUGH ON THAT THE COMMITTEE COULD VOTE ON THE RESOLUTION OR ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS, UH, BECAUSE THOSE DO HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY THE ENTIRE COMMITTEE.

BUT I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT, UH, THE COMMITTEE IS NOT, UH, BOUND BY THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE.

UH, YOU COULD, UH, THEY COULD VOTE TO, UH, CALL A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING THAT COULD BE DEFINED AS THIS OPEN COMMUNITY FORUM AS COMMISSIONER.

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A COMMENT I'M A LITTLE BIT ON THE BORDERLINE ABOUT THAT.

DAVID, DO YOU FEEL THAT OUR COMMITTEE SHOULD HAVE A, HAVE A FORUM? DO YOU THINK THAT WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE FORUM? THE BUDGET OFFICE RECOMMENDS THE FORUM TO ALLOW, UH, EACH QUALITY OF LIFE COMMISSION TO RECEIVE, UH, FEEDBACK FROM THEIR CONSTITUENTS, UH, IN, IN THIS CASE, UH, CITIZENS OR RESIDENTS WITH, UH, DISABILITIES.

UM, UH, ANOTHER METHOD OF GETTING THAT DONE WOULD BE TO ADVERTISE IT, UH, IN TERMS OF AT THE REGULAR MEETINGS TO ALLOW CITIZEN COMMUNICATION, UH, FROM PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO, UH, COMMENT ON, UH, ISSUES THAT THEY SEE MIGHT BE RELEVANT TO THE BUDGET.

GOOD IDEA.

THIS IS COMMISSIONER BURKE.

I LIKED THAT IDEA, DAVID.

[01:05:04]

SO IT WOULD BE BEST IF WE COULD SCHEDULE THIS BEFORE, UM, THE ACTUAL MEETING BEFORE THE MARCH MEETING.

SO WE HAVE TIME TO VOTE ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS AT THE MARCH MEETING TO SUNDAY.

I DON'T HAVE A CALENDAR IN FRONT OF ME WHEN SOMEONE, BECAUSE THE, THE SECOND FRIDAY IN APRIL, WHAT THE DATA IS THIS CONDITIONAL OR LASKY, OUR APRIL MEETING IS APRIL MINE.

UM, I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE TYING IT REALLY CLOSE.

UM, I, I CONCUR.

SO, UM, AND THE OTHER QUESTION, I, YES, UH, SINCE THE OTHER QUALITY OF LIFE COMMISSIONS ARE CONDUCTING OUTREACH TO THEIR CONSTITUENCIES REGARDING, UH, WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE FUNDED, UM, WHAT THEY NEED FUNDED, WHAT THEY WANT COUNCIL TO ADDRESS WHAT THEY WANT CITY DEPARTMENTS TO ADDRESS, UH, IT WOULD BE, WE NEED TO DO THE SAME.

UM, THEY WOULD EXPECT US TO DO THE SAME.

UM, THIS IS A, THIS IS EQUITY FOR US TO ADDRESS, TO TREAT OUR CONSTITUENCIES THE SAME.

UM, YOU GAVE ME TO COMMISSIONER BIRD.

I COMPLETELY AGREE.

COMMISSIONER WE'RE ALASKAN.

GO AHEAD.

SO DOES IT SEEM LIKE WE WOULD WANT TO HOLD A FORUM THE END OF FEBRUARY OR EARLY MARCH? THAT WAY WE WOULD HAVE THE MARCH MEETING TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS AND VOTE ON ANYTHING SINCE IT SEEMS LIKE THE APRIL MEETING WOULD BE TOO LATE? YEAH, I THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA.

DO WE NEED TO PICK A DATE AND TIME FOR THAT NOW, OR IS THAT AS MUCH GUIDANCE AS WE NEED TO GIVE YOU ALL FOR NOW? WOULD IT JUST BE A DATE DAVIDSON? UM, JUST BECAUSE OF OPEN SLOTS, WE WOULD HAVE TO ASK STEPHANIE, WHAT WOULD GIVE AVAILABILITY BE IT FOR THAT DATE, OR WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? UH, I TELL YOU WHAT I WILL SAY THAT IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, UH, THE END OF FEBRUARY, UM, YOU WOULD, UH, YOU WOULD HAVE THE FEBRUARY MEETING TO FINALIZE THE DATE.

IN THE MEANTIME, I COULD REACH OUT TO THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE AND ASK STEPHANIE WHAT THE AVAILABILITY IS.

AND SO AT THE NEXT MEETING, UH, THE FEBRUARY MEETING, I COULD PRESENT A SLATE OF POTENTIAL DATES THAT, THAT Y'ALL COULD DECIDE ON.

HOW ABOUT WE DO EITHER THE LAST FRIDAY IN FEBRUARY OR THE FIRST FRIDAY IN MARCH.

AND THIS IS COMMISSIONER BIRD.

I LIKE DAVID'S PROPOSAL OF WHAT HE'S RECOMMENDING THOSE SLATE OF DATES FROM THE CORK.

EXCELLENT.

I WILL, I WILL DO THAT.

OKAY.

SO DID YOU WANT US TO JUST GIVE YOU SOME DATES, DAVID, OR YOU JUST KIND OF WANT TO PLAY AROUND WITH SOME DAY? UH, I, I THINK WHAT, UH, I THINK WHAT YOU'VE SAID IS, UH, END OF, END OF FEBRUARY 1ST WEEK OF MARCH, LET ME RUN THAT BY STEPHANIE AND FIND OUT WHAT TYPE OF, UH, AVAILABILITY THERE IS.

AND, UM, I CAN COMMUNICATE THAT TO EVERYBODY VIA EMAIL AND, UH, THAT WAY EVERYBODY'S GOT A, AT LEAST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, UH, BEFORE THE, BEFORE THE FEBRUARY MEETING.

OKAY.

THAT'LL WORK.

ALL RIGHT.

OKAY.

SO VEGGIE DOES NO NEED TO VOTE ON ANYTHING.

YOU'RE JUST GOING TO GO AHEAD AND WRITE THOSE DATES TO STEPHANIE AND GET SOME FEEDBACK.

YES, SIR.

CORRECT.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT, MOVING ON TO THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM OR RESOLUTION FOCUSING ON

[2D. Resolution to replace TTY with Relay Services in City Services, Commissioner Robin Orlowski and Taurean Burt; ]

REPLACING T T Y WITH VIDEO RELAYS IN CITY SERVICES, COMMISSIONER BURKE AND COMMISSIONER LLC CAN Y'ALL STILL HEAR ME, OR YOU DON'T NEED THEM.

WE CAN HEAR YOU CHEER FRANKS, BUT WE CAN NOT HEAR I DIDN'T UNMUTE, SORRY.

[01:10:01]

MINUS SIX.

UH, WE FELT, WE WROTE, WE CO-WROTE THIS RESOLUTION BECAUSE WE FOUND THAT THE CITY OF AUSTIN, UM, STILL WAS MAKING REFERENCE TO T T Y.

UM, EVEN THOUGH I, THE DEAF COMMUNITY NOW USES, UH, VRS VIDEO RELAY SERVICES.

AND, UH, THE CITY OF AUSTIN HAS A VERY LARGE DEAF COMMUNITY.

UM, SO HERE IS THE TACTICAL RESOLUTION BECAUSE TELE TIE PARTNERS ARE AN OUTDATED AND RARELY USED MEANS OF COMMUNICATION WITHIN THE DEAF COMMUNITY.

AND BECAUSE THE CITY OF AUSTIN BEING HOME TO THE TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF HAVE A LARGE LOCAL, VIBRANT, AND VERY ENGAGED DEAF COMMUNITY.

AND BECAUSE THE CITY OF BOSTON PRIDES ITSELF ON BEING BOTH AWARE OF ALL CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES AND CONSTANTLY STRIVING TO ACHIEVE CULTURAL INCLUSION AND BECAUSE CULTURAL INCLUSION AND AWARENESS OF TECHNOLOGY MUST INCLUDE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES MUST INCLUDE THE DEAF COMMUNITY AND THE PREFERRED AND CURRENT MEANS OF COMMUNICATING WITH ALL CITY PERSONNEL AND FACILITIES, AND THEREFORE THE MAYOR'S COMMITTEE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RECOMMENDS IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN REPLACE CURRENTLY USE TTY DEVICES WITHIN THE CITY FACILITIES AND ALL REFERENCES TO TP Y WHICH ARE CURRENTLY PRINTED ON OFFICIAL CITY PUBLICATIONS WITH VIDEO RELAY SERVICES, WHICH ARE KNOWN AS VRS IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY FACILITATE APPROPRIATE AND EQUITABLE COMMUNICATIONS, AUSTIN, TEXAS DEAF COMMUNITY, AND ASKED A RESOLUTION.

AND WE WOULD LIKE THIS APPROVED BECAUSE DISABILITY IS A PART OF EQUITY.

UH, PARDON, DID WE RECEIVE A WRITTEN VERSION OF THIS? UM, I SENT ONE OUT, I DID NOT RECEIVE ONE.

AND SO I HAVE NOT SENT ONE OUT.

YOU COULD SEND THAT LANGUAGE TO DAVID SO HE CAN CIRCULATE AMONGST THE COMMISSION.

SO WE HAVE A CHANCE TO REVIEW IT, TO CHECK ANY, UM, YOU KNOW, JUST THE LANGUAGE GRAMMAR AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT.

AND THEN WE CAN JUST MOVE IT TO THE NEXT MEETING TOO, UM, IF YOU WANT PEOPLE TO ON IT.

OKAY.

AND THEN THIS IS COMMISSIONER, SHALL I ACT? SO I UNDERSTAND PART OF IT IS THE, JUST CHANGING THE LANGUAGE ON PUBLICATIONS, BUT THEN YOU ALSO SAID, IS THIS ALSO LIKE, IS THERE A PHYSICAL TTY WITHIN A PHYSICAL SPACE THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REPLACING WITH A VIDEO PHONE OR IS THAT NOT PART OF THIS RESOLUTION AND COMMISSIONER BIRD HAD SOME COMMENTS TO ADD, AND THIS IS, THIS IS COMMISSIONER BIRD.

UM, WE'RE RECOMMENDING THAT WE ACTUALLY CHANGED OUT.

UM, AND THEN WE'LL BE GOOD TO GO AND WE'LL, WE'LL SHOW IT TO YOU GUYS AND YOU CAN SEND IT OUT AND THEN NEXT MONTH, UM, WE COULD ALL LOOK IT OVER AND VOTE AND APPROVE IT.

AND, AND I THINK IT LOOKS GOOD.

WELL, DAVID CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT, UM, YOU SAID THAT THE CITY ACTUALLY DID CHANGE IT OUT ALREADY.

WE REACHED OUT TO THE, UH, CORPORATE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE AND POINTED OUT THE FACT THAT INDEED TTY IS, IS, UH, COMPLETELY OUTDATED.

UH, I WAS ACTUALLY PLANNING ON GOING BACK AND LOOKING AND MAKING SURE THAT THOSE CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE, BUT IT'S LIKELY THERE ARE LIKELY, UM, REMNANTS OF TTY LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT LETTERHEADS AND THIS AND THAT.

SO THIS RESOLUTION IS STILL GOING TO BE NECESSARY TO PUT THE CITY ON ALERT, UH, THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, THEY NEED TO, UH, BASICALLY CLEANSE THEIR, UH, THEIR DOCUMENTATION AND INDIVIDUAL, UH, DEPARTMENTAL SITES AND SUCH TO, UH, TO REMOVE THAT LANGUAGE AND REPLACE IT WITH, UH, VRS.

OKAY.

AND OUR RESOLUTION, WHAT DAVID SAID IS POINTING OUT THAT LANGUAGE IS A PART OF EQUITY AND DISABILITY IS A PART OF EQUITY.

YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT EQUITY CONVINCINGLY IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO INCLUDE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.

SO THIS IS NOT REQUESTING THE PURCHASE OF A VIDEO PHONE OR PHYSICAL TEACHER DEVICE.

IT'S ONLY THE LANGUAGE TO LANGUAGE.

RIGHT.

GREAT.

THANK

[01:15:01]

YOU FOR THAT CLARIFICATION.

I'LL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR RESOLUTION, RIGHT.

IT'S JUST SAYING, HEY, IF YOU'RE GOING TO ACTUALLY PROMOTE EQUITY, YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT LANGUAGE.

I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE, HOW YOU REFER TO A GREAT BIOLOGIC FOR ERIC, FOR INTERRUPTING YOUR REVENUE.

DO YOU HAVE ABOUT SEVEN MINUTES WHEN WE DO IT? BECAUSE WHAT I SEE IF ANYONE HAS ANY FEATURE, BUT I THINK WE ALL AGREE WITH WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO MAKE, FEATURE THE ITEMS. SPEAKING OF, UM, I WOULD LIKE ANOTHER, AN ADDITIONAL RESOLUTION ABOUT JOINING THE AUSTIN, TRAVIS COUNTY HATE CRIMES, TASK FORCE.

UM, I CAN GET A RESOLUTION ABOUT THAT.

SEND OUT TO DAVID TO LOOK OVER.

I KNOW WE HAD THIS SPEAKER, UH, AND WE FOUND OUT THE STATE OF TEXAS ALREADY DOES INCLUDE DISABILITY AND HATE CRIMES LEGISLATION.

AND I HAVE SOMETHING, ANOTHER ITEM, CAUSE I, I DID FIND OUT THAT THE CITY OF AUSTIN IS FORMING AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

WE ALREADY SIT, UM, ON, UM, YOU ALREADY SIT ON THE JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE, WHICH, UH, ADVISORS, THE EQUITY OFFICE, WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PART OF THE, UH, AUSTIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

UM, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE INVOLVED IN IMPROVING ECONOMIC AND IMPROVING EMPLOYMENT, IMPROVING EDUCATION FOR PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC.

AND, UM, THIS WOULD BE IMPORTANT FOR US TO BE INVOLVED IN TOO, BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT EMPLOYMENT, UM, EMPLOYMENT OR JOB TRAINING.

SO I DO FEEL THAT THEY DO NEED TO LOOK AT A RESOLUTION.

OKAY.

SAMPLE RESOLUTION FOR THAT.

THANK YOU, MR. CASEY, DID YOU WANT TO BRING UP WHAT YOU AND I TALKED ABOUT THE CONDITION? THOSE ARE.

YEAH.

AND I CAN ALSO EMAIL DAVID ABOUT IT, BUT IT'S, UM, THERE'S A COMMISSION.

I'M GETTING THE EXACT NAME OF WHAT IT'S CALLED ONE SECOND.

YEAH.

IT'S OKAY.

IT IS THE COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW COMMISSION AND THEY HAVE BEEN, UH, AND THEY WILL BE ALSO ON THE 11TH, UM, VOTING TO APPROVE ALL OF THESE POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APD ON DISABILITY AND MENTAL HEALTH.

AND I JUST THINK IT'S VERY ODD THAT THEY HAVE NOT COME BEFORE THIS COMMITTEE.

AND I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE A GOOD THING FOR US TO DISCUSS, UM, REPRESENTATION ON THAT COMMISSION OR FIGURING OUT WHERE THIS IS GOING, YOU KNOW, DOES IT GO DIRECTLY TO APD OR DOES IT HAVE A PLAN TO COME BEFORE THE COMMITTEE AT ALL? OR WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE? SO THAT'S, THAT'S THE ITEM.

OKAY.

ALSO, I STILL, UM, WANT TO DISCUSS, UM, IS THAT STILL HAPPENING FOR THE FUTURE? IS THAT A FUTURE ITEM ON THE AGENDA IT'S ALREADY THERE IS THAT RIGHT? IT'LL BE FOR NEXT MONTH.

OKAY.

AND I JUST WANTED TO ADD SOMETHING FOR A FUTURE ITEM AS WELL FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, UM, COPYING AND RECORDING, THAT'S HAPPENING FOR THIS VIDEO TO MAKE IT THE POST, THE MEETINGS, UM, FOR THE MINUTES, UM, IN THE FUTURE AS WELL.

IF WE CAN DISCUSS THAT DURING THE NEXT, UM, MEETING FOR AN ADDED ITEM.

OKAY.

ANYBODY ELSE? ALL RIGHT.

HEARING NONE.

IF

[01:20:01]

THERE ARE NO MORE FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS OR LAST MINUTE, UM, ANNOUNCEMENTS, I WILL ACCEPT A MOTION TO ADJOURN MEETING BRAVO.

OKAY.

SORRY.

I HAD MY COMPUTER MUTED.

UM, I HAD ISSUE, UH, OVER, UM, YOU KNOW, THE HOLIDAY WHERE I COULDN'T GET SOMETHING DELIVERED LIKE A PACKAGE BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO BE OUT OF, OUT OF TOWN.

I DIDN'T WANT TO BE, I DIDN'T WANT LEFT OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT DOOR.

SO I'M IT ON HOLD WITH UPS.

AND THEN THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T DELIVER IT, THAT I HAD TO GO ACROSS TOWN TO GO GET IT.

SO I DON'T KNOW IF WE CAN MAKE CORPORATIONS, YOU KNOW, CHANGE THE RULES, YOU KNOW, AND WE CAN THROUGH THE WHOLE COUNTRY, BUT IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN PAINTING TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT PEOPLE CAN'T JUST TUNE, GET PACKAGES AT THE POST OFFICE OR UPS.

I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S A THING YOU'RE ALLOWED TO LOOK INTO UNDER THE ADA LAWS.

UH, JUST TO QUICKLY, REALLY QUICKLY COMMENT ON THAT.

I ACTUALLY HAVE THAT KIND OF A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH UPS AND THERE'S A WAY TO SIGN UP FOR, UH, ONE OF THEIR LITTLE DEALS YOU SIGN UP IN THE ACCOUNT AND THEN YOU COULD, UM, PUT IN INFORMATION OF WHERE YOU WANT TO DO DROPPED OFF.

IF FOR EXAMPLE, YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT AS A PATIO, YOU CAN ASK FOR IT TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE PATIO INSTEAD OF YOUR FRONT DOOR.

OKAY.

I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE.

AND THEN I BROUGHT UP LAST TIME.

UM, BUT IT REMINDED ME WHEN THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THE PARK AND EVERYTHING.

I DO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE TALKED ABOUT, UM, TRANSPORTATION AS TIED TO THE PROPOSITIONS THAT JUST GOT PASSED THIS LAST YEAR A AND B SHOULD ALSO BE OUR TRANSPORTATION, UH, DISCUSSIONS AS WELL.

OKAY.

YEAH.

THAT'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING WE NEED TO HAVE TO DISCUSS ABOUT.

YEAH.

I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH PACKAGES TOO.

AND I FOUND AS LONG AS I HAVE SOMEBODY DROP SOMEBODY ABLE TO PICK THEM UP AND GIVE THEM TO ME.

IT'S NOT A BARRIER TO COURSE.

OF COURSE.

THAT'S NOT, I CAN DEFINITELY DISCUSS THIS AT A LATER MEETING SEVEN O'CLOCK.

SO WE DO NEED TO ADJOURN.

UM, BUT YEAH, WE CAN, WE NEED, DO WE WANT TO HAVE A FURTHER DISCUSSION? YOU CAN'T HAVE IT AS THE TEACHER CAN ITEM.

I'M FINE WITH THAT.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO I WILL ACCEPT THE MOTION.

ACCEPT THE MOTION TO ADJOURN, MR. BERG.

OKAY.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE.

AYE.

AYE.

THOSE OPPOSED.

ALL RIGHT.

Y'ALL HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND I'LL TALK TO Y'ALL NEXT MONTH.

STAY SAFE OUT THERE AND GET BACK TO EVERYONE IN THE GOOD WEEKEND.

THANK YOU.

GOODNIGHT.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
