[Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission]

[00:00:05]

SORRY TO BE LATE.

NATHAN.

YOU READY? OKAY, GOOD.

OKAY.

GOOD AFTERNOON.

IT IS MAY 25TH, 2021 AT 3:03 PM.

AND THIS IS A MEETING OF THE INDEPENDENT CITIZENS REDISTRICTING COMMISSION.

I'M NOT DOING IT WITH THE CITY'S HOUSING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT.

I'VE GOT LISA RODRIGUEZ ON AND THEN NATHAN ON TECH.

UH, SO LET'S DO THIS.

DO A ATTENDANCE CALL REAL QUICK.

UH, IF YOU COULD JUST SAY HERE, TURN YOUR MICROPHONE ON AND SAY HERE, AND THEN ALSO RAISE YOUR HAND AT ALL.

THAT'LL HELP.

OKAY.

LET'S SEE.

CANON HERE, MORRIS HERE.

HARDEN.

A HEART IS NOT HERE.

HE HAD A FAMILY EMERGENCY, A SCHNEIDER HERE.

DEMPSEY GONZALEZ HERE, LANDS LEE HERE.

KAMBO HERE.

I KNOW IT'S CALLED THEIR OWN HERE.

YAY.

HERE, HERE.

AND THEN FINCH.

UH, SHE LET ME KNOW, SHE'S NOT GONNA GO TO THE MAKEUP, BUT IF WE NEEDED HER FOR A VOTE, WE COULD CALL HER AND SHE WOULD, SHE WOULD LOG IN, SO, OKAY.

COMMISSIONER DEMPSEY SAID SHE WOULD JOIN LATE.

ALRIGHT.

OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

UH, LET ME PULL UP THE AGENDA.

WE'LL WALK THROUGH IT AND THEN, UM, NOW WE CAN GET GOING.

YEAH.

OKAY.

SO HERE WE GO.

UH, SO WE'VE GOT CITIZEN COMMUNICATION.

UH, WE'VE GOT ONE PERSON SIGNED UP MR. PECK YOUNG.

UH, WE'LL DO THE MINUTES.

UH, WE'VE GOT SOME OLD BUSINESS ITEMS, UM, DISCUSS THE COMMISSION'S MISSION AND PURPOSE SELECTION OF REMAINING COMMISSIONER, UH, SELECT AN INTERIM CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR, AND THEN SOME HOUSEKEEPING MATTERS.

UM, AND FOR NEW BUSINESS AGENDA, ITEM THREE, TEXTS OUT MEETINGS, ACT, PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT, AND THE CITY CHARTER, NO CONTACT PERIOD, AND THEN ESTABLISH A WORKING GROUP TO CONSIDER AND RECOMMEND HIRING STAFF AND THEN FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. UM, CAROLINE WEST WITH A LOT DEPARTMENT HAD A CONFLICT, SO SHE'S GOING TO JOIN US AT FOUR TO DO HER PART.

SO, UM, I MIGHT TAKE SOME OF THIS STUFF OUT OF ORDER.

UM, UH, HOPEFULLY THAT'S OKAY.

BUT, UM, WHEN I WAS, YEAH, SO THAT'S WHAT OUR AGENDA IS LOOKING LIKE FOR TODAY AND OKAY.

SO CAN WE BRING IN THE COLOR FOR CITIZEN COMMUNICATION? OH, REALLY? OKAY.

LET ME, UM, LET ME EMAIL HIM AND THEN WE'LL, UH, SEE IF WE CAN GET GOING WITH THAT.

AND THEN IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S GO AHEAD AND DO THE MEETING MINUTES FROM OUR LAST TWO, UM, MEETINGS.

UM, SO I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW THE MEETING MINUTES FROM OUR LAST FEW MEETINGS AND IF HAD ANY CHANGES TO THEM.

UM, OKAY.

UH, IS EVERYONE ON I ASKED FOR, UM, PICKS FROM EXPERIENCE IT'S BEST TO TAKE UP THE MINUTES ONE AT A TIME TO AVOID CONFUSION AND SO EMOTION FOR A SEPARATE MOTION FOR EACH SET OF MINUTES IS WHAT I RECOMMEND.

OKAY.

I MOTION TO APPROVE THE APRIL 9TH MINUTES AS PRESENTED A MOOT.

OKAY.

ALL IN FAVOR.

RAISE YOUR HAND AND SAY AYE.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

OKAY.

SO THAT'S UNANIMOUS.

AND THEN IS THERE A MOTION FOR THE OTHER SET OF MINUTES? WHAT DATE WAS THAT? APRIL 23RD.

UH, I MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE APRIL 23RD MEETING.

SECOND, THE MOTION ALL IN FAVOR, SAY AYE.

RAISE YOUR HAND.

AYE.

AYE.

THAT'S UNANIMOUS AS WELL.

OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

SO THOSE MEDIUMS PASS.

UH, OKAY.

LET'S HOLD ON HERE.

[00:05:22]

MINUTES.

UM, THAT'S JUST FINISHED SO THAT OKAY.

NO, THAT'S THE GUY THAT WANTED TO SPEAK AT CITIZEN COMMUNICATION.

YEAH.

SO HE'S GOING TO CALL IN.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO WE'RE TRYING TO GET THAT.

THEY'RE TRYING TO GET MR. PECK YOUNG ON HE'S HAVING A HARD TIME LOGGING ON.

UM, OKAY.

SO THEN, UM, IF IT'S OKAY.

I WANT TO MAYBE GO TO FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. UH, FIRST, UM, TWO OF Y'ALL HAD SENT SOMETHING TO ME SEND UP THE REST OF EVERYBODY.

I THINK IT WAS PROBABLY .

AND THEN CHRISTINA, UM, JUST KINDA WANTED TO MAKE SOME SPACE, MAYBE TALK ABOUT THAT BRIEFLY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MEETING.

AND NOW WE CAN ALSO, UH, TALK ABOUT IT.

UM, UH, WE CAN TALK ABOUT DO FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS TOWARD THE END OF THE MEETING, BUT, UM, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S PROBABLY WHEN CHRISTINA WANTED TO TAKE A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO JUST KIND OF MAYBE SUMMARIZE WHAT YOU HAD SENT OUT TO THE, TO THE COMMISSION.

YEAH, SURE.

UM, OH, GO AHEAD.

NO, GO AHEAD, CHRISTINA.

THAT'S FINE.

I CAN WAIT, GO GONE.

THANK YOU.

UM, SO I SHARED SOME RESOURCES ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, UM, AND I THINK IT WOULD BE REALLY AWESOME IF WE COULD KIND OF GET ON THOSE KIND OF LIKE A BASELINE UNDER LIKE SAME UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE CITY'S HISTORY IS AND, UH, HOW THAT IS RELEVANT TO THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING ON THE COMMISSION.

UM, SECOND, I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS INCLUDED IN THE EMAIL, BUT IT WAS SOMETHING TIED TO, UM, COMMISSIONER ECONOMICS, UM, EMAIL.

AND IT'S JUST THAT I THINK THAT WE SHOULD, UM, I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO DO SOMETHING BEYOND WHAT WE DO HERE ON, UM, ONLINE VIRTUALLY, BUT TO MEET EACH OTHER AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER A LITTLE MORE PERSONALLY, BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S GOING TO BE REALLY IMPORTANT FOR, UM, FOR US TO COME TOGETHER AS A GROUP AND DO THIS CRITICAL WORK.

THANKS, CHRISTINA.

UM, I THINK WE'RE ALL TRYING TO DO THE SAME THING AND I THINK THAT'S THE WINDOW FOR EMAIL.

I'D SENT OUT TO SAY THAT I THINK WE'VE ALL COME FROM VARIOUS DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS.

AND I THINK I DO AGREE THAT, UH, WE SHOULD TRY AND DO SOME KIND OF VIRTUAL ACTIVITY TO KIND OF HELP BUILD A COMMON LANGUAGE AND TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER.

SO WE ALL KNOW WHAT WE'RE SAYING AND HOW WE'RE REPRESENTING EACH OTHER.

I THINK, UH, WHEN WE HAD THE FIRST DATE, WE DID HAVE SOME BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS AND I LIKED THAT CHRISTINA SENT OUT SOME TO, UH, I THINK, UH, IN MY FIRST EMAIL I'D SENT OUT ONE FOR THE COLOR OF LAW WAS ONE OF THE BOOKS THAT IT WAS A RECOMMENDED READ WHEN I WAS COMING ON TO THE COMMISSION TOO.

SO I THINK WE CAN ALL PILE IN SOME BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS AND THAT MIGHT BE VERY INTERESTING FOR US.

AND I, I W I WOULD SAY, I DON'T KNOW, I'D LOVE TO UNDERSTAND, UH, THE LOGISTICS OF IF WE COULD MEET AS A, NOT AS A COMMISSION, BUT AS A GROUP OF PEOPLE TO DO AN EXERCISE, UH, TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER.

UH, AND I'M HAPPY TO, TO VOLUNTEER TO FACILITATOR OR SOMEONE ELSE, OR ALL OF US CAN CO-FACILITATE THE GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW LEGAL IT WOULD BE FOR US TO DO.

UH, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? LIKE THAT'S SOMETHING TO THROW OUT THERE AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT LATER TODAY IF WE HAVE THE TIME FOR IT.

BUT, UH, I AGREE.

I THINK IT WOULD BE USEFUL FOR US TO GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER BETTER.

SO THAT'S ALL I HAD.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

UM, YEAH, THANKS FOR THAT.

I CAN, UM, I CAN CHECK WITH THE CLERK'S OFFICE.

I KNOW RIGHT NOW ALL THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS MEETINGS ARE REMOTE.

UM, BUT I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW IF WE, BUT YEAH, LET ME CHECK ON TO SEE IF THERE COULD BE A PHYSICAL, IF THERE COULD BE A PHYSICAL MEETING.

UM, AND I GUESS IT WOULD ALSO DEPEND ON IT KIND OF BE UP TO EVERYBODY'S, UM, COMFORT LEVEL WITH, UM, WITH MEETING IN PERSON AT THIS TIME.

BUT, UM, I'LL FIND THAT OUT.

UM, UH, AND I, YOU KNOW, WE'RE KIND OF GOING MONTH TO MONTH BASED ON THE GOVERNORS, UM, WAVING THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT REQUIREMENTS SO THAT WE CAN DO SOME OF THESE MEETINGS REMOTE AND WHAT'S.

SO FOR, FOR, UM, MAY WE'RE STILL REMOTE AND WE'LL, WE'LL BE WAITING TO HEAR IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO WHAT, WHAT JUNE'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE AS WELL, AND MATTHEW SEVEN, THIS ACTIVITY COULD ALSO BE DONE VIRTUALLY.

I THINK, YOU KNOW, IT MIGHT BE INTERESTING TO BE IN PERSON, BUT I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT THE PANDEMIC AND VACCINATION SCHEDULES AND CAN HELP PEOPLE ARE COMFORTABLE.

THEY MAY NOT

[00:10:01]

BE ABLE TO DO IT IN PERSON, BUT EVEN A REMOTE SESSION WOULD BE VALUABLE.

OKAY.

EITHER ARE.

OKAY.

THAT SOUNDS GOOD.

SO WE'LL DEFINITELY PUT SOMETHING ON YOUR AGENDA FOR YOUR NEXT MEETING TO DO, UH, TO GO THROUGH SOME SORT OF, UM, UH, SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

SO, OKAY.

THAT SOUNDS GOOD.

UM, IN MY EXPERIENCE, THAT WOULD BE A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING AND YOU COULD TITLE IT A RETREAT, YOU KNOW, IT'S MORE OF A TEAM BUILDING TYPE OF MEETING WHERE YOU'RE, YOU, EVERYONE KNOWS THE PUBLIC KNOWS THAT YOU'RE NOT TAKING ACTION OF ANY KIND.

YEP.

YEP.

IN TERMS OF THE TALENT.

YEAH.

THANKS, LISA.

I THINK THAT'S A GREAT SUBSECTION.

YEAH.

OKAY.

ANYTHING ELSE ALONG THOSE LINES? OKAY.

OKAY.

SO THEN, UM, THAT SOUNDS GOOD.

SO FOUR ARMS OF THE LAW DEPARTMENT, UM, WE'LL HOLD THOSE OFF, BUT WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT ITEM.

IT SHOULD BE TO, UM, BE CRD.

SO TO BE HIS SELECTION OF REMAINING COMMISSIONER, UM, WE CAN TAKE THAT UP.

UM, I'D SEND OUT THE UPDATED SPREADSHEET WITH THE, UM, WITH FOLKS TOP SIX, UM, CANDIDATES.

UM, AND I CAN PULL THAT UP AS WELL.

UM, OR IF SOMEBODY ELSE WANTS TO SHARE THE SCREEN, LIKE WE CAN DO THAT AS WELL.

UM, UH, BUT YEAH.

UM, HOW DID Y'ALL WANNA, UM, HOW DID Y'ALL WANNA APPROACH SELECTING THE REMAINING COMMISSIONER? SO WE'VE GOT JANE.

HI, I HAVE A QUESTION LETTER THAT WE GOT FROM THE EARLIER COMMISSIONER STATED THAT DISTRICT EIGHT HAS NO REPRESENTATIVE ON OUR GROUP.

IS HE CORRECT? UH, YES.

UM, SO IT WAS, I BELIEVE, IS IT, UM, BJ, I THINK WHEN YOU APPLIED WAS IN DISTRICT EIGHT AND THEN HAS SINCE MOVED TO DISTRICT THREE, IS THAT CORRECT? WELL, IN THAT CASE, I THINK HE HAS AN EXTREMELY VALID POINT.

UM, I SEE ANOTHER PERSON FROM DISTRICT EIGHT.

IS THAT NOT TRUE IN THE CURRENT 13? UM, I, I, I THOUGHT IT WAS ME.

UM, IS THERE ALSO SOMEONE ELSE? YEAH, I DON'T, I'VE ALWAYS BEEN IN THE DISTRICT THREE, UH, SINCE I APPLIED.

SO I THINK SO WHEN I LOOK AT THIS LIST IN THE CURRENT 13, UM, MATTY THAT YOU SENT OUT YES.

UM, I SEE, ROLL NUMBER FIVE.

I CAN ONLY SEE THE UNIQUE IDENTITY, UH, AND IT'S NOT BJ.

I THINK IT'S, UH, SORRY.

YEP.

THAT'S ME MY MISTAKE.

YEAH.

SORRY ABOUT THAT.

UM, SO ONE SECOND.

I CAN SHOW IT REAL QUICK.

AND I DID CHECK WITH THE LAW DEPARTMENT ON THAT, UM, UM, WHEN THAT CAME IN.

OKAY.

YEAH.

SO THAT SECTION OF THE CHARTER, UH, THREE L NINE, THE COMMISSIONERS SHALL ENSURE THAT AT LEAST ONE COMMISSION MEMBER RESIDES IN EACH OF THE, THEN CURRENT COUNCIL DISTRICTS, WHICH ARE THE 10 WE HAVE NOW TO THE EXTENT FEASIBLE WITH THE REMAINING SIX OPEN SEATS.

UM, SO YEAH, SO I GUESS IT'S NOT ABSOLUTE THAT, UH, THAT ALL TEXAS 10 DISTRICTS HAVE TO BE REPRESENTED, BUT I THINK IT WOULD, YOU KNOW, THE INTENTION OF THAT IS TO HAVE GEO GEOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION FOR ALL 10 DISTRICTS.

AND, AND, UH, YEAH, I WOULD ENCOURAGE, ENCOURAGE YOU GUYS TO FULFILL THAT IF, IF POSSIBLE.

UM, HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, IF WE CAN'T GET 10 DISTRICTS, I'LL REPRESENT IT, IT DOESN'T INVALIDATE THE MAKEUP OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE ICRC, BUT, UM, BUT YEAH, I AGREE WITH THEM THAT WITHIN THE SPIRIT OF THE CHARTER, TO THE EXTENT FEASIBLE, UM, Y'ALL DO THAT AND I CAN PULL UP THE, I CAN PULL UP THE CURRENT LIST.

SO, UM, UH, AND JUST KIND OF WALK THROUGH AND SEE HOW SO WE'VE GOT, UM, CANON ISN'T FIVE MORRIS, ISN'T THREE LEE, WASN'T EIGHT NOW'S ON THREE HARDENS AND ONE LANDS FOR KAMBO NINE POINT HAS SEVEN ON HIS CALDERON TO DEMPSEY 10 CONSOLIDATES, 10 FINCH TO SCHNEIDER SIX AND YEAR ONE.

[00:15:03]

SO THEN WE DON'T HAVE ANYONE FROM DISTRICT GATE IS, IS WHAT WE'RE SAYING, RIGHT? THAT'S CORRECT.

UM, WELL, I MEAN, I READ THE LETTER, UM, I THOUGHT THAT, UM, I WENT THROUGH AND I LOOKED AT THE DROPBOX AND I MADE A RECOMMENDATION.

I THINK WE CAN LOOK AT THE FOLKS FROM DISTRICT EIGHT, PICK ONE OF THOSE FOLKS AND MOVE TO INCLUDE THEM.

UH, THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN TO ME.

UM, I KNOW I HAVE MY RECOMMENDATION.

I'M HAPPY TO TALK ABOUT THAT.

UM, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANOTHER WAY THEY'D LIKE TO PROCEED.

I THINK YOUR WAY IS GOOD.

COOL.

SO I BELIEVE, UH, JOSHUA, OOH, I MIGHT NEED TO KNOW.

OKAY.

JOSHUA, JEEZ.

I WROTE HIS NAME DOWN SOMEWHERE.

HOLD ON.

UH, JOSHUA BLINK, DR.

BLANK.

YEAH.

WAS THE PERSON THAT I PICKED.

UM, IT LOOKED LIKE HE HAD KIND OF LIKE A INTERESTING, UH, QUALITATIVE QUANTITATIVE POLICY BACKGROUND, UM, THAT I THOUGHT MIGHT CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORK THAT WE'RE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH HERE.

UM, I DON'T KNOW IF ANYBODY ELSE, UH, YOU KNOW, IF ANYBODY ELSE WANTED TO SHARE ONE OF THEIR CANDIDATES OR TALK ABOUT, UH, THAT KIND OF IN PARTICULAR AS WELL.

I REMEMBER THAT THE APPLICANT AND I, I THINK THAT THAT'S A GREAT PICK.

HOWEVER, WE TAKE A QUICK, DO A QUICK FILTER AND SORT HERE AND SEE WHO ALL'S IN DISTRICT EIGHT.

UH, SURE.

I LET'S SEE.

I THINK I JUST DOWNLOADED THIS.

LET ME SEE IF I CAN DO IT.

I DON'T HAVE RIGHTS TO SHARE.

IF NOT, I HAVE THE LIST PULLED UP.

THERE'S FIVE OF THEM OR SIX, ACTUALLY FIVE TECHNICALLY WHAT FOR YOU TO MOVE? UH, UH, OKAY.

UM, WE'LL WAIT FOR HIM.

HEY NATHAN, CAN YOU GIVE, UH, LET PRABHU SHARE HIS SCREEN.

OKAY.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHARE YOUR SCREEN NOW.

YEAH.

CAN YOU GUYS, UH, CAN EVERYONE SEE IT TURN TO ZOOM IN JUST A LITTLE BIT? YEAH.

HERE WILL BE.

IS THAT BETTER? YEAH, THAT'S GOOD.

RIGHT.

I'M JUST GOING TO GO IN HERE AND, AND REMOVE ONE NAME.

CAUSE I LIKE HE'S ALREADY ON THE COMMISSION AND NOT PART OF EIGHT ANYWAY.

SO, UM, DO YOU SERVE THE FIVE REMAINING IN DISTRICT EIGHT? DON'T MEAN TO PUT ANYONE ON THE SPOT, BUT IT ALSO SEEMS LIKE JOSHUA BLANK RECEIVED THREE VOTES FROM, UH, NEWEST FIVE COMMISSIONERS.

UM, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM THOSE THREE WHO TO SELECT A JOSHUA, UH, UM, WHY HE MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE COMMISSION.

ALSO, I AGREE WITH COMMISSIONER SCHNEIDER AND MATT, THAT I BELIEVE THAT HAVING REPRESENTATION FROM DISTRICT EIGHT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

UM, SO I, I I'M CURRENTLY LEANING TOWARDS JOSHUA BLANK JUST BECAUSE HE KIND OF FITS OUR NEEDS ON THE COMMISSION RIGHT NOW.

I DO, I CAN SPEAK TO THAT.

UM, I ALSO MADE HIM MY TOP CHOICE FOR DISTRICT EIGHT.

UM, AND I AGREE WITH THE OTHERS THAT WE SHOULD HAVE ONE, UM, COMMISSIONER FROM EACH DISTRICT.

UM, SO I SELECTED JOSHUA BLANK BECAUSE HE SEEMS TO HAVE THE EXPERTISE THAT WE REALLY NEED, UM, HAVING, I THINK HE'S THE DIRECTOR OR SOME KIND OF DIRECTOR FOR THE TEXAS POLITICS PROJECT AND, AND THEY, UM, SO THEY HAVE LIKE A POLICY RACK AROUND A DEMOGRAPHICS BACKGROUND.

UM, AND I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE A HUGE ASSET TO, TO OUR WORK.

AND WE ARE IN NEED OF MORE CONDITIONERS WITH THAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE.

JUST, I DIDN'T, UH, ADD JOSHUA BLANK TO MY LIST, BUT I SERIOUSLY LIKE HE WAS, I THINK HE'S A GREAT CANDIDATE, SO I WOULD BE FINE WITH THAT.

I DO REMEMBER, LIKE, IT WAS JUST SO HARD TO NARROW THIS DOWN BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY ALL THE CANDIDATES ARE GREAT, BUT I DO REMEMBER THERE BEING A GOOD ONE, BUT I THINK OVERALL LOOKING AT EVERYONE'S LIST, MOST PEOPLE ARE ONBOARD WITH JOSHUA BLANK.

YEAH.

I THINK MY ONLY THING WAS I WAS LOOKING AT THE OVERALL SCORE.

AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT, UM,

[00:20:03]

WE HAVE LAST NAME PLAZA THAT RIGHT.

OR TRL, BOTH HAVE HIGHER SCORES OVERALL.

SO SOMETHING TO CONSIDER TOO.

UH, IF WE WANT TO LOOK AT THIS IMPARTIALLY, BUT I THINK WE'VE DELIBERATED OFTEN.

AND IF WE HAVE ENOUGH SUPPORT FOR ONE OF THE OTHERS, IN TERMS OF JUST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES IN WHAT THEY'VE DONE, I THINK THERE ISN'T LIKE A SHORT SHORTLIST HERE.

UM, BUT, UH, HE DID SCORE ABOUT LOWER THAN THE REST OF THEM, BUT YOU KNOW, THE NUMBERS SOMETIMES DON'T MEAN MUCH.

UH, THAT'S WHAT I'LL SAY.

I THINK YOU HAVE TWO IN DISTRICT EIGHT THAT F SCORE ANALYTICAL SKILLS SLIGHTLY HIGHER, THEN BLANK.

YEAH.

NOT GOING TO OUT MYSELF AT ALL.

LIKE PROBABLY WHY I DON'T HAVE THE GREATEST SCORE AND I'M GRATEFUL TO BE.

I DON'T CONSIDER IT HIGH SCORES.

AREN'T REALLY, I DON'T THINK A GREAT OVERALL INDICATOR, BUT DOES ANYONE ELSE WANT TO TALK ABOUT ANOTHER, UM, CANDIDATE? UM, CAUSE IF NOT, I'M HAPPY TO MAKE A MOTION, UM, THAT WE TAKE A VOTE ON, UM, MR. BLANK, OR DO WE WANT TO LOOK, DO WE WANT TO PUT ON THE SCREEN, HIS APPLICATION OR SOMEONE ELSE'S APPLICATION I'M COMFORTABLE WITH IT IF YOU ARE SARAH.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

UM, I MOTION THAT WE VOTE TO ADD, UH, JOSHUA BLINK AS A NEXT, UH, MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION AND PROVOKED, CAN YOU, UH, TAKE YOUR SCREEN DOWN PLEASE? YEAH.

AND THEN IS THERE A SECOND FOR THE MOTION AND THEN I CAN VOTE.

UM, SO YEAH, LET'S JUST GO THROUGH, WE'LL DO, UM, ONE MORE TIME.

SO LEE, I LANDS, I THINK YOUR MICROPHONE'S OFF.

WAIT ONE MORE TIME.

I STILL CAN'T HEAR YOU.

UM, MAYBE IF YOU'RE YES.

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE NO.

YEP.

OKAY.

THERE WE GO.

OH YEAH.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

KAMBO YES.

YAY.

YES.

.

HI SCHNEIDER.

HI CANNON.

HI GONZALEZ.

ALRIGHT, MORRIS.

I, AND I KNOW CALDERON.

HI, THANK YOU.

OKAY, SO THAT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

ALL RIGHT.

VERY GOOD.

WELL, WE'LL CONTACT JOSHUA BLANK THIS AFTERNOON AND LET HIM KNOW.

OKAY.

AND LET'S SEE.

NOW IF WE CAN GO TO A CITIZEN COMMUNICATION.

OKAY.

YEAH.

BUT 30TH MEMBER ONLY TOOK US THREE TIES OR HERE I WASN'T GOING TO SAY ANYTHING.

I'M SO HAPPY.

SO HAPPY.

ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT, MORRIS.

OKAY.

SO MR. PECK YOUNG, ARE YOU THERE? I CERTAINLY, I AM.

OKAY.

UH, GO AHEAD.

THANK YOU FOR CALLING IN.

OKAY.

YEAH.

I'M SORRY.

I GOT THE WRONG CODE NUMBER.

I APOLOGIZE.

UM, IF YOU'LL GIVE ME JUST A HALF A SECOND TO, EXCUSE ME.

UM, MR. UH, YOUNG, UM, IT SOUNDS LIKE WE'RE GETTING A LITTLE BIT OF FEEDBACK FROM THE BROADCAST THAT MIGHT BE ON IN THE BACKGROUND, IF YOU COULD MOMENTARILY LOWER THE VOLUME A LITTLE BIT.

SO THAT WAY IT DOESN'T FEED THROUGH THE MICROPHONES.

IS THAT OKAY? YES.

THAT HELPS.

THANKS SO MUCH.

YEAH, I'M WATCHING Y'ALL ON TELEVISION AND MY TV MIKE WAS OFF.

ALL RIGHT.

UM, WE, UM, I KNOW I'VE GOT THREE MINUTES AND I'LL BE BRIEF, UH, UH, THE COALITION THAT I REPRESENT,

[00:25:01]

WHICH IS HEADED BY THE NAACP.

WE WANT TO MAKE JUST THREE QUICK POINTS.

UH, ONE WE'RE HOPING THAT THIS MEETING, OR WILL YOU ALL WILL BE ABLE TO WRAP UP, UH, MEMBERSHIP AND GET YOUR OFFICERS IN PLACE.

TECHNICALLY, UH, THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BEEN DONE BY THE END OF MARCH EARLY APRIL, AND WE UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS WITH COVID, BUT WE'RE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR SCHEDULE AND ABOUT GETTING THIS THING DONE SO THAT YOU'RE ABLE TO MEET YOUR NOVEMBER DEADLINE.

WE LOOK FORWARD AND WE REQUESTED THAT WE BE ABLE TO MAKE A MAJOR PRESENTATION, UH, TO THE FULL COMMISSION ONCE YOUR OFFICERS ARE DONE, UH, ON WHAT IS COMING UP, UH, IN, AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING THAT HOPEFULLY IN PERSON.

UM, SO WE THINK IT'S CRITICAL, UH, THAT WE'D BE ABLE GENERALLY TO BE ABLE TO DO THESE SAYINGS, UH, AND BE ABLE TO YOU ALL TO HAVE HEARINGS THAT ARE NOT JUST VIRTUAL.

WE'VE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE.

UH, THE LANGUAGE OF THE CHARTER AMENDMENT TALKS ABOUT, UH, MAXIMUM CITIZEN INPUT.

AND WE MENTIONED TO YOU THAT WE BELIEVE, UH, ESPECIALLY AMONG SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT WE REPRESENT, WHAT YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT IN MINORITY DISTRICTS, THAT YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THEIR FULL PARTICIPATION BY DOING IT THROUGH COMPUTERS.

A LOT OF THEM ARE NOT COMFORTABLE THAT WAY.

AND SOME OF THEM JUST SIMPLY DON'T HAVE THE CAPACITY.

AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU'RE CONTROLLED TO SOME EXTENT STILL BY GUIDELINES THAT ARE NOT WITHIN YOUR CAPACITY DATE TO EFFECT, BUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, WE URGE YOU TO GET THIS INTO A WAY IN WHICH WE CAN HAVE A SOCIALLY DISTANCE, UH, PERSONAL MEETINGS IN THE COMMUNITY WHERE FOLKS ARE SIMPLY ARE NEVER GOING TO PARTICIPATE, UH, BY THESE KIND OF MEETINGS.

UH, THESE KINDS OF ELECTRONIC MEETINGS CAN BE PART OF THIS PROCESS AND CAN GIVE THEIR INPUT.

UH, AND WE'RE HOPING THAT THAT WILL BE, UH, AS EARLY AS NEXT MONTH, BECAUSE WE'RE VERY, WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

AND WE ALSO FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO THESE KINDS OF THINGS, THAT WE BEGIN TO GET SOMETHING WHERE THERE'S ZOOM INVOLVED, SO THAT THEY'RE, YOU CAN AT LEAST SEE YOU.

WE ARE.

UM, WE ALSO, SINCE I'VE BEEN FROM ONE OF OUR, UH, COALITION MEMBERS WHO WAS ONE OF THE TWO GENTLEMEN WHO DRAFTED THE ORIGINAL ORDINANCE, UH, THAT TALKED ABOUT REVISIONS, WHICH WE'LL SHARE MORE IN DETAIL WITH YOU WHEN WE MEET WITH YOU AND THE MAJOR PRESENTATION, BUT WE WANT TO STRESS, WE WILL ASK THE STAFF TO SHARE HIS COMMENTS.

WE WANT TO STRESS THAT WHEN WE SAY INDEPENDENT, WE MEAN THAT THE ORG, THE CHARTER AMENDMENT MEANT INDEPENDENT AT SOME POINT, AND WE'RE NOT UPSET WITH THE STAFF.

WE THINK MATT AND HIS TEAM HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB, BUT YOU ALL NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU NEED VERY MUCH, VERY QUICKLY TO ACQUIRE A STAFF WHICH WORKS STRICTLY FOR YOU AND IS NOT CITY STAFF.

ANYBODY WORKING FOR THE CITY HAS AN INHERENT, NOT PERSONAL, BUT AN INHERENT CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

YOU NEED YOUR OWN COUNSEL.

YOU NEED CONSULTANTS, WHICH EVENTUALLY WILL DO YOUR REDISTRICTING.

AND YOU NEED YOUR OWN EXECUTIVE PEOPLE, BECAUSE ANYBODY THAT IS TIED TO THE CITY GOVERNMENT BY DEFINITION IN THIS PROCESS HAS, HAS A BUILT IN CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT WE WROTE THAT INTO THE CHARTER, UH, AMENDMENT, AND THAT YOU NEED TO ACT ON THAT AND GET YOURSELF IN A POSITION WHERE YOU HAVE PEOPLE THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE ONLY TO YOU.

ALSO, YOU DO THOSE HIRES AND WE ALL, WE WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE CHARTER MAKES IT CLEAR THAT THE HEARING PROCESS, WHICH IS EXTENSIVE, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A HEARING IN EACH DISTRICT AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SERIES OF HEARINGS AFTER YOUR, BEFORE AND AFTER YOU FORM A PLANT IS ALL UNDER YOUR CONTROL AND YOUR STAFF AND THE STAFF THAT IT RESPONDS TO YOU, YOU CONTROL THEM.

AND WE WANT TO EMPHASIZE THAT TO YOU.

AND WE'LL TALK ABOUT THAT MORE IN DETAIL WHEN WE CAN APPEAR, UH, WE WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

I KNOW THIS IS NOT AN EASY JOB, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU LITERALLY SEEING YOU IN PERSON IN NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE.

AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU, SIR.

THANK YOU.

OKAY, SO LET'S, UM, LET'S TAKE UP ITEM C.

YOU HAVE TO SEE SELECTION OF INTERIM CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR.

AND THAT WAS LIKE TWO D HOUSEKEEPING MATTERS.

WE COULD ALSO TALK ABOUT, UM, SO IF YOU ARE, UM, PUT THIS ON HERE FOR, TO SEE SELECT AN INTERIM CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR, UM, AND SO I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD KINDA HELP FACILITATE THINGS, UM, UH, WITH THE, WITH THE COMMISSION, UM, AND KIND OF, UH, MAYBE A TWO-STEP PROCESS WHERE THEY'RE INTERIM AT FIRST AND THEN TAKE THIS UP AT A FUTURE

[00:30:01]

MEETING AS WELL TO, TO MAKE THAT, UH, UH, TO MAKE IT PERMANENT.

UM, UM, BUT YEAH, BUT ANYWAYS, I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL, IF Y'ALL HAD THOUGHTS ON SELECTING AN INTERIM CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR, I WANT TO NOMINATE COMMISSIONER, NESTE CALLED IT ON FOR, UM, THE INTERIM CHAIR.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE COMMISSIONER GONZALEZ FOR INTERIM VICE CHAIR.

I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE CHRISTINA PUENTE'S FOR CHAIR.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE TWO POSITIONS BEING ONE MALE AND ONE FEMALE.

SHE WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO NOMINATE ME AS VICE CHAIR.

I WOULD ALSO NOMINATE CHRISTINA POINTERS AS CHAIR OF THE COMMISSION.

AND I AGREE WITH COMMISSIONER SCHNEIDER, I WOULD LIKE A FEMALE AND A MALE TO REPRESENT THE COMMISSION.

I THINK I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE SHANA TO THE CHAIR, UH, AND I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE, UH, COMMISSIONER GONZALEZ TO THE VICE CHAIR.

UM, I APPRECIATE THAT, UH, COMMISSIONER KINDA ON, UM, HOWEVER, I'M NOT LOOKING FOR THIS RESPONSIBILITY RIGHT NOW.

UM, SO I WOULD LIKE THE REMAINING CANDIDATES, UM, TO IF THERE'S SOMEBODY ELSE WHO WANTS TO BE NOMINATED, UM, HOPEFULLY THEY CAN SPEAK FOR IT AS WELL.

WHEN THAT CASE I'VE DRILLED OVER.

I'D SAY THAT I'D LIKE TO NOMINATE SELENA TO BE THE CHAIR.

DO I NEED TO SAY ANYTHING? I AM FLATTERED.

THANK YOU.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER THOUGHTS? WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP MAT IS A TIME FOR EMOTION.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU GUYS TO DISCUSS AND FOR THE NOMINEES TO, UH, SORT OF SPEAK TO THEIR WILLINGNESS OR DESIRE OR QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE.

IF YOU LIKE BEFORE VOTING.

I WANT TO SAY THAT I'M IMPRESSED WITH EVERYONE'S PARTICIPATION.

I AM PARTICULARLY IMPRESSED WITH CHRISTINA'S PRESENTATION.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM SO FLATTERED TO NOMINATED PRABHU, UM, AND I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE ON ANY ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

I'D BE HAPPY TO DO THAT, BUT I ALSO, UH, AGREE, UM, WITH, WITH GREG THAT CHRISTINA SEEMS TO HAVE PUT A LOT OF WORK AND, AND IS A GREAT PRESENTERS.

UM, THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

I MUST AGREE.

I KNOW, I KNOW I JUST NOMINATED HER, BUT CHRISTINA COMES AT THIS WITH PASSION AND WITH FULL ATTENTION, WE ALL DO.

UM, BUT I THINK ESPECIALLY BEING ONE OF THE NEWER FIVE MEMBERS, UM, I WOULD, I WOULD HAPPILY, UM, NOW I HAPPILY NOMINATE AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE CHRISTINA AS CHAIR.

UM, I THINK IF WE WANT TO CONTINUE THROWING OUT NAMES, UH, RIGHT NOW THERE ARE TWO FOLKS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY NOMINATED CHRISTINA.

UM, I THINK WE CAN MAKE A MOTION, UM, FOR THE CHAIR POSITION.

YES.

IS THAT ANOTHER ONE WE WANT TO DO SEPARATELY? CAUSE I WAS ALSO GOING TO NOMINATE CHRISTINA AND LOUISE, CHRISTINA FOR CHAIR AND LUIS FOR VICE-CHAIR.

SO I'M HAPPY TO MAKE A MOTION FOR A, TO VOTE ON CHRISTINA AS CHAIR OR ANDY AND ALSO LOUISE, BUT WE COULD DO ONE FOR THE OTHER, I DON'T KNOW.

BUT CHRISTINA, ANY COMMENT, I'LL DO IT AS Y'ALL HAVE ME.

I HONORED.

THANK

[00:35:01]

YOU, LUIS.

ANY COMMENTS? I AM EXTREMELY HONORED AS WELL.

THANK YOU EVERYONE.

I JUST KNOW IF YOU KNOW, IF I DO SERVE IN THE VICE-CHAIR I, I I'M, I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS.

I WILL GIVE IT MY ALL.

UM, AND AGAIN, THANK YOU.

ANYBODY ELSE? ANY COMMENTS I WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH LUIS AND, UH, ALONGSIDE ALL OF YOU.

I THINK, I THINK WE WOULD BE TEAM EIGHT, ECHO THAT CHRISTINA AND I, AND JUST, UH, WITH COMMISSIONER CALDERON'S, UH, THOUGHT, UH, JUST TO LET'S THROW IT ON THESE SEPARATELY.

UM, JUST SO THERE'S NO CONFUSION AS WITH THE MINUTES, LET'S DO A MOTION FOR THE CHAIR AND A MOTION FOR THE VICE CHAIR.

AND AGAIN, THANK YOU.

COOL.

THEN I MOTION TO A VOTE TO MAKE, UH, CHRISTINA CHAIR.

IS THERE A SECOND? I WOULD SECOND IT OKAY.

ALL IN FAVOR.

RAISE YOUR HAND.

OKAY.

AYE.

AYE.

THAT'S UNANIMOUS.

ALL RIGHT, SO I'M PUSHING TO MAKE LUIS VICE-CHAIR.

IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND? OKAY.

ALL IN FAVOR.

THAT'S UNANIMOUS AS WELL.

ALL RIGHT.

COOL.

OKAY, GOOD.

SO, UM, COMMISSIONER CHRISTINA POINT HAS BEEN NOMINATED AND VOTED TO BE CHAIR AND THEN COMMISSIONER LUIS GONZALEZ HAS BEEN NOMINATED AND VOTED ON TO BE VICE CHAIR.

OKAY.

THAT WAS AWESOME.

REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THAT.

UM, OKAY.

SO NEXT THING ON THE AGENDA, UH, WE TO TALK ABOUT, UM, 2D, HOUSEKEEPING MATTERS, UM, UH, THAT'S SENT THAT OUT FOR EVERYBODY TO GET A CITY EMAIL ADDRESS.

UM, UM, AND I'LL SEND THAT TO THE NEWEST COMMISSIONER AS WELL.

UM, JOSHUA BLANK.

UM, AND THEN ONCE WE GET THOSE SET UP, WE'LL CREATE A PAGE ON THE, ON THE WEBSITE.

AND, UM, LET ME JUST SHOW THAT REAL QUICK.

UM, OH, HEY NATHAN, CAN YOU LET ME SHARE AGAIN, PLEASE? UM, SO THERE'LL BE LIKE A WEB FORM WHERE RESIDENTS, UM, CAN GO ONTO THE WEBSITE FOR THE COMMISSION.

UH, OKAY.

YEAH.

SO THIS IS Y'ALL'S OFFICIAL BOARD AND COMMISSION WEBPAGE.

LET ME SCROLL DOWN.

IT'S GOT CHARTER LANGUAGE, UM, CLICK ON HERE FOR ALL THE MEETING, AGENDAS MINUTES AND BACKUP INFORMATION.

UM, EVERYBODY'S NAME SO FAR.

AND THEN RIGHT NOW, IF SOMEBODY WANTS TO CONTACT Y'ALL THEY SEND SOMETHING TO ME AND THEN I SENT IT TO Y'ALL.

SO WE'LL, ONCE WE GET THOSE EMAIL ADDRESSES SET UP, THIS'LL BE THEY'LL CLICK ON THIS AND IT'LL GO DIRECTLY TO, UM, TO ALL 14 COMMISSIONERS.

UM, SO THAT'LL BE NICE.

UM, THE OTHER HOUSEKEEPING MATTER I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT WAS THE, UM, I WANT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, UH, WAS A TIMELINE.

THERE'S SOMETHING WE'VE TALKED ABOUT BEFORE, BUT THIS IS A TIGHT, UM, SO THIS IS ON THE REGISTRATION WEBSITE.

LET ME SHOW HER AT HERE.

UH, SO WE'RE IN THIS PHASE MARCH 1ST AND NOVEMBER 1ST, 2021, ALSO 14 MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION GATHERED PUBLIC INPUT AND ADOPT A FINAL PLAN FOR THE DISTRICT BOUNDARIES.

UM, UH, YOU KNOW, THIS YEAR'S A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT BECAUSE THE CENSUS RESULTS HAVE NOT BEEN DELIVERED.

THOSE ARE SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE SEPTEMBER 30TH.

UM, SO AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, AND THEN, UM, UH, AND THEN YOUR WORK BY CITY CHARTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE BY A NUMBER OF FIRST 2021.

SO THAT GIVES ABOUT 31 DAYS TO DO THAT.

SO I BELIEVE THAT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO MEET THAT DEADLINE.

SO JUST NEED TO MAKE SURE WE'RE KEEPING IN, UH, IN SPIRIT WITH THE CHARTER.

UM, BUT THAT IT'S GOING TO BE A TIGHT, A TIGHT TIMELINE AND A LOT OF WORK ONCE THE, ONCE THE CENSUS RESULTS COME IN.

UM, AND I'VE TALKED WITH, UH, FOLKS AT TRAVIS COUNTY TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE, WHAT IS THE ABSOLUTE LATEST DEADLINE THAT WE NEED TO GET THE BOUNDARIES OVER TO THEM FOR THE NOVEMBER 20, 22 ELECTION.

UM, AND SO WE'RE WORKING ON THAT AND WE'LL GET THAT DAY TO YOU AS SOON AS, AS SOON AS WE HAVE IT.

UM, WHEN IT WAS, YEAH, IT'S GOING TO BE, IT'S A TIGHT TIMELINE.

CAN I ASK A QUESTION REAL QUICK? UM, I'M JUST TRYING TO, LIKE IN MY HEAD, GET A, TO DO LIST OF THINGS THAT NEED TO HAPPEN.

SO, CAUSE

[00:40:01]

IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT.

SO IF I'M UNDERSTANDING CORRECTLY, WE NEED TO HIRE COUNSEL, WE NEED TO HIRE ADMINISTRATORS, WE NEED TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE.

UH, AND THEN WE NEED TO ALSO SCHEDULE AT LEAST 10 INPUT SESSIONS, ONE IN EACH DISTRICT.

RIGHT.

AND THAT'S PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE COORDINATING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL OFFICES, I WOULD IMAGINE, UM, JUST FOR LOCATION SAKE AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

UM, AND THEN OTHER STUFF HAS LIKE, IS WHAT OTHER, WHAT ARE OTHER THINGS THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN? UM, CAUSE THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT ALREADY.

YEAH.

TH THAT IS A LOT.

AND THEN JUST ONE CORRECTION, WE PROBABLY WILL NOT WORK WITH THE CITY COUNCIL OFFICES TO SCHEDULE THOSE MEETINGS BECAUSE AGAIN, YOU GUYS ARE INDEPENDENT.

UM, SO, UM, SO CERTAINLY STAFF, WE CAN HELP WITH THAT.

UM, BUT THAT'LL BE, UH, THAT'LL BE SOMETHING Y'ALL WILL WE'LL DECIDE ON, UM, YOU KNOW, BOTH WHERE TO MEET AND HOW TO APPROACH THOSE, THOSE PUBLIC HEARINGS AS WELL.

BUT, UM, BUT YEAH, KIND OF THE, THE BIG, UH, THE BIG STEPS ARE, UM, HIRING YOUR STAFF, UM, UH, LAWYER MAPPING PERSON AND, UM, AN ADMINISTRATOR, IF, UH, THOSE ARE THE, THOSE ARE THE FOLKS YOU WANT TO HIRE TO DO THE WORK.

UM, UH, IT SOUNDS LIKE, WELL, SYNERGY CAN KIND OF DO SOME TEAM BUILDING.

UH, WE'LL GET YOU ALL, SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON, ON HOW THINGS STAND NOW.

UM, AND THEN ONCE THOSE RESULTS FROM THE 20, 20 CENSUS COME IN, UM, THEN YOU GUYS WITH YOUR, WITH YOUR STAFF CAN GET REALLY GET GOING ON THOSE, ON THOSE MAPS ON THOSE DISTRICT BOUNDARIES.

UM, AND THEN ONCE Y'ALL HAVE, UM, AND, YOU KNOW, TO, TO BE ABLE TO DO, THERE'LL BE A NUMBER OF, UM, PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, PUBLIC INPUT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THAT PROCESS TO COME UP WITH A DRAFT, UM, PRELIMINARY MAP.

UM, AND THEN ONCE YOU HAVE THAT DRAFT PRELIMINARY MAP, THEN YES, I'LL HAVE TO BE, UH, UH, A PUBLIC HEARING IN EACH DISTRICT.

UM, AND I THINK THE NEXT PART OF THAT, THEN THERE'S A, THERE'S A FINAL MAP AND THEN THERE'S, UH, MORE PUBLIC HEARINGS.

I THINK THERE'S ONE IN EACH OF THE FOUR TRAVIS COUNTY PRECINCTS.

UM, AND THEN I THINK THERE'S, UH, ANOTHER TWO, ONE NORTH OF THE RIVER, ONE SOUTH OF THE RIVER AS WELL.

UM, SO YEAH, THAT'S A LOT OF, A LOT OF PUBLIC HEARINGS, UM, A LOT OF INPUT, UM, UH, YEAH, THAT'S, THAT'S KINDA HOW THINGS ARE GONNA GO HIRE STAFF, UM, GET SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION, GET THE RESULTS FROM THE 20, 20 CENSUS AND, UH, AND GET GOING ON THOSE ON THOSE MAPS.

THANK YOU, MR. DOUGAN.

SO IT SOUNDS LIKE PUBLIC HEARINGS ARE OF INTEREST TO THE PUBLIC.

AND I'M WONDERING FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE, IF IT MAKES SENSE FOR US SINCE THAT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING THAT WE COULD TACKLE KIND OF, I DON'T WANT TO SAY IMMEDIATELY, YOU KNOW, TO BUILD A SCHEDULE, DO YOU ADVISE, UH, CREATING A SCHEDULE ALL AT ONCE OR IN THE PAST, HAVE THESE PUBLIC HEARINGS BEEN SCHEDULED MORE? UM, LIKE ALONG THE WAY? YES, I THINK I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BOTH.

SO I THINK IT'LL BE A SET OF MEETINGS.

IT GETS SCHEDULED JUST FOR PUBLIC INPUT SESSIONS TO GET INPUT FROM, FROM RESIDENTS.

UM, AND THEN ONCE YOU'RE AT A, AT A SPOT WHERE THERE'S A PRELIMINARY, UH, DRAFT PLAN DRAFTED MAP, UM, THEN TAKE THAT OUT TO OFFICIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS, UM, AND EACH OF THE 10 DISTRICTS.

SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT, YOU KNOW, UH, PUBLIC HEARINGS, YOU KNOW, VERY KIND OF OFFICIAL TYPE RECORD.

UM, BUT THE, THE PUBLIC INPUT MEETINGS WOULD BE, UM, YOU KNOW, THEY'D ALSO BE OFFICIAL, BUT MAYBE A LITTLE LESS FORMAL, UM, MORE KIND OF BACK AND FORTH COMMUNICATIVE BETWEEN, UH, BETWEEN COMMISSION MEMBERS AND, AND RESIDENTS, UM, TO GET THEIR, TO GET THEIR INPUT AND TO GET THEIR FEEDBACK.

HI, I JUST WANTED TO SAY I'M HERE AND I APOLOGIZE FOR BEING LATE.

YEAH.

CAN I ASK WHAT HAPPENED REALLY QUICKLY? I FEEL LIKE WE DID SOME OFFICER'S.

DID WE PICK THE LAST COMMITTEE MEMBER? YEAH.

SO QUICK RECAP IS, UM, UH, JOSHUA BLANK WAS SELECTED AS A, AS A 14TH COMMISSION MEMBER.

GREAT.

FROM DISTRICT EIGHT.

UM, SO ALL 10 DISTRICTS ARE REPRESENTED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS AND THEN THE, THEN THE NEXT ITEM WAS, UH, SELECTING, UH, CHRISTINA MONTEZ AS CHAIR AND LUIS GONZALEZ AS VICE-CHAIR.

OH, OKAY.

GREAT.

CONGRATS GUYS.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

UM, OKAY, SO, SO WAIT FOR CAROLINE TO GET HERE.

SO LET'S, UM, ONE OF THE, WE THOUGHT MIGHT BE HELPFUL FOR YOU ALL WITH THE HIRING STAFF WAS, UH, THIS IDEA TO CREATE A, UH, ESTABLISH A WORKING GROUP, WHICH IS ITEM THREE B ESTABLISH A WORKING GROUP TO CONSIDER AND RECOMMEND HIRING STAFF.

UM, I SENT OUT THAT DEFINITION OF WHAT A WORKING GROUP IS.

UM, BUT BASICALLY IT WOULD BE, UM, LESS THAN A QUORUM, SO EIGHT FOLKS OR LESS.

UM, AND THEN THOSE, THOSE FOLKS WHO GET TOGETHER, UM, DISCUSS MATE, UH, COME UP WITH IDEAS, FIGURE STUFF OUT, AND THEN BRING THAT BACK TO THE WHOLE 14 MEMBER COMMISSION,

[00:45:01]

UH, FOR THE WHOLE 14 MEMBER COMMISSION TO TAKE ACTION.

UM, SO IF THAT WAS SOMETHING YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN DOING, WE COULD, UH, WE COULD DO THAT.

UM, BUT WE JUST THOUGHT THAT THAT MIGHT BE HELPFUL.

CAUSE Y'ALL, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT, THAT, THAT WORKING GROUP COULD DO IN BETWEEN THE, THE, THE MEETINGS OF THE FULL COMMISSION.

SO MATT, IS THIS JUST ONE WORKING GROUP TO, UM, FIND THE COUNCIL AND ADMINISTRATOR OR ART? CAN WE BREAK THAT UP INTO SEPARATE WORKING GROUPS? UH LET'S YEAH, WE CAN BREAK THAT UP INTO MULTIPLE WORKING GROUPS JUST TO CLARIFY MR. DOUGAN, UH, IT, IT SAYS ONLY EMAIL THAT WE CAN HAVE, UH, NOT A NON-MEMBER OR NON-MEMBERS.

UM, DOES THAT MEAN SOMEBODY OUTSIDE OF THE COMMISSION COULD COME IN AND IN THAT EVENT WOULD BE, BE CHOOSING SOMEBODY FROM THE LIST OF QUALIFIED MEMBERS, FOR INSTANCE, THAT'S CORRECT.

IF Y'ALL WANT IT TOO, YOU COULD ADD SOMEBODY TO THE WORKING GROUP.

THAT'S NOT ACTUALLY ON THE ICRC.

THAT'S NEAT.

UM, AND WHAT KISHA CAMBA IS THAT I THINK THAT LIST OF ICRC APPLICANTS WOULD BE A GOOD RESOURCES, OR IF WE WANT TO WORK OUTSIDE FOR ANY NON-MEMBERS.

HOW ABOUT PREVIOUS, UM, PREVIOUS COMMISSIONERS AS WELL? YEAH, AND I THINK MAYBE FIRST START WITH THE LIST OF PEOPLE.

WE, WE SHOULD PROBABLY HIRE, MAYBE WE SHOULD ALIGN ON THAT AND THEN WE CAN FIND PEOPLE THAT CAN HELP BASED ON WHAT ROLES WE HAVE TO HIRE MIGHT BE A GOOD STARTING POINT TO BE LIKE, SO DO WE JUST DECIDE WHAT WE WANT TO HIRE? I KNOW WE HAVE TO HIRE A COUNSEL LEGAL COUNSEL.

NOW WE HAVE TO HIRE AND EXECUTIVE SOMETHING.

I CAN'T TELL IS THERE, COULD YOU HELP US BY TELLING US WHAT THE PREVIOUS COMMISSIONS HAVE HIRED MAYBE, AND WE CAN START WITH THAT LIST AND THEN WE CAN DECIDE IF THAT'S WHO WE WANT TO HIRE, OR IF WE CAN ADD MORE PEOPLE TO MAYBE POTENTIALLY SURE.

YEAH.

SO THE 2013 ICRC THAT HIRED A LAWYER, UH, THEY HIRED A MAPPING CONSULTANT AND THEY HIRED, I BELIEVE IT WAS AN EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR, UM, UH, TYPE PERSON, THOSE THREE, THOSE THREE STAFF MEMBERS.

AND, UM, JUST TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND.

AND ONCE WE DO HIRE THESE FOLKS, UM, THEY'RE GOING, YOU'RE STILL GOING TO CONTINUE TO BE, WE'RE STILL GOING TO BE IN COMMUNICATION WITH YOU AND LISA OR LIKE YOU AND SOMEONE AT THE CITY.

IS THAT HOW THAT ALL, YES.

YEAH, AT LEAST IN OUR HAIR FOR THE, FOR THE LONG, FOR THE LONG HAUL.

OKAY.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

UM, OKAY.

YEAH, I MEAN, I'M, YOU KNOW WHAT, OUR NEXT STEPS TO CREATE THIS WORKING GROUP? DO WE JUST NEED VOLUNTEERS? YEAH.

IT'D BE SOMEBODY MAKING A MOTION TO CREATE THE WORKING GROUP WOULD VOTE ON THAT AND THEN WE'D VOTE ON APPOINTING MEMBERS, UM, UH, LESS THAN A QUORUM.

SO, UM, EIGHT OR LESS FOLKS.

WELL, DID WE WANT TO, UM, SEE LAWYER MAPPING CONSULTANT AND EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR? UH, SINCE WE'RE SO FEW, IT SEEMS LIKE THREE WORKING GROUPS WOULD BE A LOT, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS.

DO WE WANT TO JUST LIKE HAVE ONE WORKING GROUP COME UP WITH, UM, THOSE NAMES, UH, AND THEN WE CAN KIND OF DISCUSS IT AS A GROUP OR LIKE, I DUNNO, WHAT OTHER STRATEGIES MIGHT, UM, BE USEFUL TO THAT END TO COME UP WITH THIS LIKE RECOMMENDATIONS LIST? WELL, ACTUALLY, OH, SORRY.

YEAH.

I WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO ASK YOU WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS WERE BECAUSE YOU HAD CREATING WORK, WORKING GROUPS.

YES, I, AND UM, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR DID, UM, IN THEIR ROLE LAST TIME AND WHETHER WE ACTUALLY NEED ONE OR IF THAT CAN BE FULFILLED BY SOMETHING LIKE THE CHAIR AND THE VICE CHAIR.

UM, SO MATT, COULD YOU MAYBE GIVE THE BRIEF BULLET POINT LIST OF, OF THEIR POSITION LAST TIME? UM, UNFORTUNATELY I COULDN'T, THAT'S A REALLY GOOD QUESTION.

UM, BUT I COULD, I COULD PUT YOU ALL IN TOUCH WITH THE CHAIR AND THE VICE CHAIR FROM THE PREVIOUS ICRC AND, UM, AND, UH, AND TALK WITH THEM ABOUT, ABOUT WHAT THE, WHAT THAT PERSON'S ROLE WAS AND WHAT THEY, WHAT THEY DID FOR THAT, FOR THAT ICRC COMMISSION.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

I WOULDN'T NECESSARILY WANT TO SPEND ENERGY ON LOOKING FOR ONE BEFORE WE KNOW WHAT THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES WOULD BE.

GOTCHA.

THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO ME.

I HAVE NO BACKGROUND AS TO WHAT THE PREVIOUS COMMISSION DID OR HOW THEY ORGANIZED.

THEY DID PRODUCE A REPORT.

UM,

[00:50:01]

IF WE, IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT YET, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

AND IT, YOU, YOU KIND OF GET A SENSE FOR, UM, HOW THEY WORKED AS A GROUP AND ALSO, UM, YOU KNOW, HOW THEY ACCOMPLISHED WHAT THEY DID.

UM, BUT I DON'T REMEMBER SEEING ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT THESE, UM, HIREES DID SPECIFICALLY.

SO I WOULD LOVE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CHAIR AND THE VICE CHAIR, PREVIOUS ONES.

I DID SEE THE REPORT HAD CONFESS THAT I DIDN'T READ IT YET.

IT'S 43 PAGES.

YEAH.

THE BUDGET IS FOR HIRING THESE FOLKS.

YEAH, WE DO.

WE DO HAVE A BUDGET.

UM, FOR THAT, I WANT TO SAY IT'S $75,000 OR ROLE OR OVERALL.

I KNOW THAT'S THE TOTAL BUDGET.

AND IS THAT, IS THAT FOR THE REST OF 2021 OR LIKE UNTIL WHEN, UH, IT WAS BEFORE THE, THE BUDGET WOULD BE FOR THE LENGTH OF WHEN THE COMMISSION IS IN, UM, UH, WORKING ON THE, ON THE, ON THE DRAFT MAP.

OKAY.

WELL, IF, IF WE GET EVERYTHING DONE BY NUMBER FIRST, BUT, UM, UH, AND THE OTHER THING I'LL SAY WITH THE BUDGET IS IF, IF YOU READING THE CHARTER, IT JUST SAYS THE CITY WILL PROVIDE A BUDGET FOR THE ICRC MEMBERS.

UM, BUT IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY, I DON'T THINK IT ESTABLISHES A DOLLAR AMOUNT OR, UH, UH, I THINK THE TIMEFRAME IS, IS AS LONG AS THE ICRC IS, IS, IS NEEDED TO DO THEIR, TO DO THEIR JOB.

SO IS THERE A GUESSTIMATE OF HOW MANY HOURS PER WEEK THESE PEOPLE MIGHT BE EXPECTED TO EXPAND ON OUR BEHALF? I KNOW THAT'S ANOTHER GOOD QUESTION.

I DON'T, I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO, OKAY, WELL THEN, SO SHOULD WE TRY TO, WELL, WE GOTTA GET, WE GOTTA GET GOING RIGHT ON DOING SOMETHING.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN DO IN BETWEEN MEETINGS? CAUSE, UM, I AGREE THAT THERE'S A LOT OF QUESTION MARKS HERE, BUT PERHAPS, UH, CHRISTINA AND OR LUIS COULD GET TOGETHER, UH, WITH THE FORMER CHAIRS RIGHT.

IN BETWEEN OUR MEETINGS, EMAIL, MATT, AND KIND OF, UH, GET, WE COULD GET THOSE, THE INFORMATION.

UM, BUT IN THE INTERIM I FEEL LIKE THERE'S STUFF WE COULD BE DOING ON A WORKING GROUP AND, OR, UH, OTHERWISE, RIGHT.

LIKE IT JUST SEEMS LIKE TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE HERE.

SO DO WE WANT TO DO A WORKING GROUP JUST TO TRY TO FIND AN ATTORNEY AND MAPPING CONSULTANTS? AND THEN ONCE WE GET INFORMATION, THEN WE CAN LIKE PULL IN THE EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR OR IS THERE SOME OTHER ALTERNATE PLAN THAT WE COULD, SOME OTHER ALTERNATE THING WE COULD WORK ON IN THE INTERIM BETWEEN NOW AND OUR NEXT WEEK OF IDEA? YEAH.

MAYBE WINE GROUP FOR THE LEGAL, UH, PERSON IN ONE GROUP FOR THE MAPPING PERSON.

WE ACTUALLY STARTED A LIST, UH, AT THE BEGINNING FOR GETTING REFERRALS FOR THE LEGAL COUNSEL.

UH, SO WE COULD SHARE IT WITH ALL OF YOU.

WE STARTED TO PUT TOGETHER A CRITERIA BECAUSE I THINK THAT WAS ONE OF THE, UM, COMMENTS FROM, FROM THE PUBLIC THAT THE, HOW THE COMMISSION HIRED PEOPLE, WHAT WASN'T.

SO WE WERE TRYING TO, UH, NAILED ON CRITERIA AND THERE'S A, UH, AN ONLINE SHEET THAT I'D CREATED.

I CAN SHARE WITH BOTH, UH, UM, CHRISTINA AND LOUIS AND YOU GUYS CAN TAKE IT FROM THERE.

AND, UH, IF YOU WANT TO, OR ONE, WE SHOULD ESTABLISH THOSE WORKING GROUPS NOW.

SO THAT LEAVES, WE CAN START THE WORK ON THAT FOR THE NEXT MEETING.

I'D SAY, MATTHEW, YOU HAVE THAT LIST WE CREATED, RIGHT.

FOR THE LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE.

I THINK WE SHARED THAT WITH EVERYONE.

MAYBE YOU COULD RESURFACE THAT.

THAT MIGHT BE USEFUL.

OKAY.

YEAH, I'LL DIG THAT UP AND PLEASE AROUND EVERYBODY.

AWESOME.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

IT SEEMS LIKE TOO, THAT IF WE HAVE A LIST OF ATTORNEYS, THEY MAY HAVE, UH, REFERRALS FOR, UM, PEOPLE, UH, THE MAP, UH, CON CONSULTANTS OR WHATEVER THEY'VE WORKED TOGETHER BEFORE.

UM, AND THEN I ALSO SEE THE OVERLAPPING OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.

CAUSE I JUST WONDER IF THE ATTORNEY WOULD HAVE ONE OR THE CONSULTANT THAT WOULD, OH, SORRY ABOUT THAT.

UM, WOULD BE WILLING TO CROSS OVER ON THAT, BUT I GUESS WE WOULD JUST HAVE TO ASK MORE QUESTIONS.

THAT'S OKAY.

POINT ERIN ACTUALLY, UH, INTERVIEWED A COUPLE OF, UH, REDISTRICTING, UH, YOU KNOW, EXPERTS IN LIKE MAPPING PEOPLE WHEN I WAS A JOURNALIST.

I KNOW A COUPLE OF THEM IN SAN ANTONIO WHEN I'M ASSUMING THAT THEY'RE HERE AS WELL.

SO THERE ARE LIKE ACADEMICS AND STUFF WE COULD REACH OUT TO JUST FOR LIKE

[00:55:01]

INFORMAL INTERVIEWS THAT I'M SURE WE'D BE HAPPY TO RECOMMEND FOLKS.

YEAH.

YEAH, DEFINITELY.

AND I THINK THAT COULD BE SOMEONE THAT COULD ALSO COME AND TALK TO US AS A, AS A VISITING EXPERT, YOU KNOW, TO HELP INFORM THIS TEAM AND FOR US TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SUBJECT TOO, IF HE KNOWS SOMEONE THAT'D BE GREAT CARVE SOME 15, 20 MINUTES OUT SO THAT WE CAN ALL KIND OF ESTABLISH SOME KIND OF BASELINE UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT, WHAT REDISTRICTING FROM A MAPPING STANDPOINT LOOKS LIKE, SORRY TO INTERRUPT, BUT I HAVE TO DROP, I'LL SEE ALL AT THE NEXT MEETING.

OKAY.

THANKS BJ.

SO THEN SHOULD WE MAKE A MOTION TO CREATE A WORKING GROUP THAT WILL, UM, GATHER INFORMATION PUT TOGETHER, UH, REQUIREMENTS, UH, OR, YOU KNOW, DRAFT OR DRAFT KIND OF DRAFT REQUIREMENTS, DRAFT LISTS, AND DRAFT EXPERTS FOR THE ATTORNEY AND MAPPING CONSULTANTS, UM, IN PREPARATION FOR OUR NEXT MEETING.

UM, AND, AND OR ONCE WE HEAR BACK WITH MORE INFORMATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE ADMIN OR FOR AARON'S POINT, UM, GET, YOU KNOW, RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE FOLKS WHO ARE ALREADY TALKING THEM, UM, DOES THAT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING THAT WE WANT TO DO BECAUSE IF SO, I'M HAPPY TO MAKE A MOTION AND WE CAN MOVE FORWARD ON THAT, UM, OR NOT.

YES.

DO IT, DO IT OPEN.

I MAKE A MOTION TO CREATE A WORKING GROUP TO BEGIN TO WORK ON BEING CONSULTANT AND ATTORNEY HIRING, UH, PROCESS FOR THE COMMISSION, UM, THAT WILL INCLUDE, YOU KNOW, SETTING REQUIREMENTS AND, UH, BEGINNING OF SEARCH, UM, AND YOU KNOW, TO PRESENT THE INFORMATION AT THE NEXT MEETING.

IS THERE A SECOND? WAIT A SECOND.

OKAY.

ALL IN FAVOR.

UM, ALL RIGHT.

THAT'S UNANIMOUS.

OKAY.

SO NOW WE HAVE, UH, ESTABLISH A WORKING GROUP TO CONSIDER AND RECOMMEND HIRING STAFF.

UM, SO ON WHEN YOU FIGURE OUT WHO WE WANT TO APPOINT TO THAT, UM, WORKING GROUP, SO IT COULD BE EIGHT FOLKS OR LESS.

DO WE JUST VOLUNTEER A QUICK QUESTION HERE? I'M SORRY, TALKING OVER YOU.

GO AHEAD.

I'M SORRY.

I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT IT.

I THINK IT'S LESS THAN A KNOT.

YOU CAN'T HAVE EIGHT, EIGHT IS THE MAJORITY CORRECT? YEAH.

YEAH.

UM, I DON'T WANT IT.

MY UNDERSTANDING IS IT HAS TO BE LESS THAN A FORUM AND A QUORUM IS A NINE FOR THE ICRC.

OKAY.

OKAY.

MY MISTAKES.

THANK YOU.

UH, I'M SORRY.

I JUST HAVE A QUICK QUESTION.

SO WE ARE DOING ONE WORKING GROUP OR WE'RE DOING TWO WORKING GROUPS.

MY UNDERSTANDING IS ONE.

OKAY.

AND THEN THEY WERE, WE WERE GOING TO HAVE, UH, LOUISE AND CHRISTINA DO THE, UH, REACHING OUT TO THE PREVIOUS COMMISSION.

OH, OKAY.

I UNDERSTAND.

THANKS.

OKAY.

SO LET'S JUST GO THROUGH IT, UM, AND SEE IF THERE'S VOLUNTEERS THAT WANT TO BE ON THE WORKING GROUP.

OKAY.

SO SARAH THERE'S LIKE THERE'S TOO MANY PEOPLE TO DO.

WE NEED MORE PEOPLE.

LET'S SEE.

I SAW SARAH ERIN, CHRISTINA, SELENA LOUISE.

WAS THAT IT? OKAY, SO THAT'S ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE.

SO IT'S FIVE.

WE DON'T WANT TOO MANY COOKS IN THE KITCHEN.

FOUR OR FIVE.

I THINK THAT'S GOOD.

YEAH.

SARAH, ERIN.

YEAH.

FIVE IS, I THINK FIVE IS GOOD IF ANYBODY'S GOING TO BE ON IT THOUGH.

LET ME KNOW.

AND YEAH.

OKAY.

SO RIGHT NOW IT'S SARAH, ERIN, CHRISTINA, SELENA, AND LUIS.

OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

OKAY.

SO FOR THOSE ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, YEAH.

FOR THOSE FIVE MEMBERS Y'ALL CAN, UM, GET TOGETHER AND START COMMUNICATING, FIGURE STUFF OUT.

AND THEN, UM, UH, CAN WE DO THAT? UM, I DID THE EMAIL.

I'M SORRY.

I INTERRUPTED, I DID THE EMAIL, UH, WHATEVER VIDEO AND I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY RESPONSES TO HOW TO CREATE MY EMAIL ADDRESS.

SO ARE WE ALLOWED TO DISCUSS ON OUR OWN PRIVATE EMAILS? UM, LET ME, UM, LET I'LL CHECK ON THAT AND GET BACK TO YOU AND I'LL

[01:00:01]

CHECK ON, UM, UH, GETTING THOSE CITY EMAIL ACCOUNTS SET UP AS WELL.

YEAH.

I SHOULD BE IN THE, IN THE QUEUE, SO.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

PLUS ONE.

THAT WAS MY EXACT QUESTION.

UH, I THINK WE ALL SIGNED UP.

I DON'T THINK WE'VE GOTTEN NERVOUS AT FIRST.

I THOUGHT I'D LIKE IT WAS IN MY JUNK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

I DON'T THINK WE HAVE A RESPONSE BACK FROM THE CITY.

IT'S BEEN A FEW WEEKS.

OKAY.

I RESPONDED AND GOT NO RESPONSE BACK YET.

OKAY.

SORRY TO HEAR THAT.

I'LL FOLLOW UP ON THAT THIS AFTERNOON AND SEE WHAT'S GOING ON.

OKAY.

HEY MATT.

I KNOW THAT WE SAID THAT ONCE, OR MAYBE WE SHOULD WAIT FOR BLANK TO JOIN US TOO, BEFORE WE SET CADENCE AND ESTABLISHED THE NEXT FEW SESSIONS.

CAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT'S AD HOC AT THE MOMENT AND I'D RATHER SCHEDULE THESE, IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO GIVEN THAT WE HAVE A FAIRLY TIGHT SCHEDULE.

I FEEL LIKE WE MIGHT WANT TO MEET LIKE EVERY THREE WEEKS OR SO.

I MEAN, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHEN, BUT LIKE SOONER RATHER THAN LATER AND THEN PUT THOSE ON THE BOOKS.

OKAY.

YEAH.

UM, HEY LISA, DO YOU HAVE THE LIST OF THE, THE NEXT SET OF MEETING DATES WE HAVE WITH THE CLERK'S OFFICE TO SCHEDULE MEETINGS? YEAH.

WHAT I HAVE ON MY CALENDAR IS THE JUNE 2ND AND THE JUNE 16TH DATES.

IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE REFERRING TO? UM, YEAH.

AND THEN I THINK WE GOT A FEW MORE, LET ME, LET ME CHECK ON THOSE BECAUSE I CAN LET EVERYBODY KNOW WHAT, WHAT THE DATES ARE THAT WE HAVE, UM, THAT WE ALREADY HAVE GOTTEN A CUE.

UM, SO OUR NEXT TWO MEETINGS ARE JUNE 2ND AND JUNE 16TH.

IS THAT RIGHT? THAT WHEN WE'RE MEETING, YES, THOSE ARE THE DATES THAT HAVE BEEN, UH, SECURED.

YEAH.

IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, WE WERE SHOOTING FOR THE THREE TO FIVE SLOT AGAIN, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO DISCUSS THAT WHILE YOU'RE TOGETHER NOW.

YEAH.

SO THE NEXT MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2ND.

AND IT LOOKED LIKE, I THINK 3:00 PM WORKED FOR MOST FOLKS.

UM, AND THEN AFTER THAT, YEAH.

UM, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16TH IN THE AFTERNOON, UM, ANYTIME BETWEEN ONE AND 5:00 PM, ARE THOSE BOTH AVAILABLE SLOTS OR THOSE ARE BOTH SCHEDULED MEETINGS.

OH, SO THOSE ARE AVAILABLE AND WE CAN SCHEDULE MEETINGS FOR THOSE, FOR THOSE TWO DATES.

UM, IT'S YEAH, IT'S BEEN, IT'S BEEN DIFFICULT TO GET ON THE SCHEDULE, SO WE KIND OF MADE UP A PUSH TO SEE IF WE COULD, IF WE COULD.

YEAH.

WE TRIED TO GET, UM, WHAT WORKED BEST FOR MOST FOLKS WAS EVENINGS.

ONCE THE EVENING WAS A TIME THAT WORKED FOR MOST FOLKS.

UM, UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THAT.

AND THEN MONDAY EVENING WAS THE SECOND CHOICE WHEN WE WEREN'T, WE WEREN'T ABLE TO GET THAT EITHER.

SO WE KIND OF HAVE TO, UM, SO THAT, THOSE TWO MONTHS IN THE AFTERNOON, UM, WE'VE GOT THOSE TIMES SCHEDULED SO WE CAN, UM, SCHEDULE A COMMISSION MEETING FOR THOSE TWO TIMES, UM, AS WELL AS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30TH, UM, IN THE EVENING, STARTING AT 6:00 PM.

AND THEN, UM, OH, THERE'S ONE MORE.

I FOUND THE LIST IN MY EMAIL OF ALL THE DATES.

THIS IS AN EMAIL DATED MAY 12TH.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO READ THEM.

IT'S A PRETTY LONG LIST.

NO, AT LEAST AS WE WERE ALREADY ON THE CALENDAR FOR THOSE ONES I GAVE OUT.

SO HERE YOU ARE SCHEDULED FOR THE, THE SECOND AND THE 16TH ALREADY, CORRECT? YES, THAT'S CORRECT.

OH, OKAY.

WELL THEN, UM, IF IT'S STILL, UH, HASN'T BEEN FINALIZED, I DEFINITELY WOULD LIKE TO, UM, SUGGEST WOULD YOU THREE TO FIVE RATHER THAN BEGIN AT ONE, IF THAT'S ALL RIGHT WITH EVERYONE ELSE.

SURE.

OKAY.

THAT LOOKS GOOD.

IMPRESSED TO SEE THAT LIST OF AVAILABLE DATES.

UM, YEAH, WE, WE CAN, WE CAN GET THAT TO YOU FOR THE NEXT SET OF NEXT SET OF ONES.

UM, SO RIGHT NOW, WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2ND, 3:00 PM.

UM, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16TH, 3:00 PM.

AND THEN WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30TH, 6:00 PM.

SO THOSE ARE THE NEXT THREE MEETINGS WE HAVE ON THE, ON THE SCHEDULE AND ON THE CALENDAR.

OKAY.

AND MATT YOU'LL SEND OUT INVITES, RIGHT.

JUST SO THAT IT'S BLOCKED OFF AND WE HAVE IT.

YES, PLEASE.

[01:05:02]

OKAY.

AWESOME.

THANK YOU SIR.

THOSE SOME TIMES I'LL WORK FOR ME.

OKAY, GOOD.

OKAY.

SO THEN TO, UM, UH, ERRANDS EARLIER POINT, WE CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH OUR PERSONAL EMAILS FOR THE WORKING GROUP OR WE CAN CAUSE IT'S NOT, OR, UM, I'LL, I'LL CHECK ON THAT.

AND WHEN, UM, WHEN CAROLINE GETS HERE, WE'LL, WE'LL ASK HER THAT AS WELL, UM, TO GET THAT, THAT OFFICIAL ANSWER.

SO WHEN WE WERE DOING THAT, UM, TO SIGN UP FOR THE CITY EMAIL, IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT IF YOU USE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL AND FORWARD THAT TO YOUR CITY EMAIL.

SO IT SEEMS LIKE YOU CAN USE YOUR PERSONAL, UM, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF ONCE OUR CITY EMAILS ARE CREATED, IF AT THAT TIME WE'LL BE FORWARDING ALL OF THESE OLDER EMAILS OR IF IT'S JUST SO THAT ACTUALLY, IT WAS MY QUESTION.

OKAY.

OKAY.

UM, YEAH, I'LL CHECK, I'LL CHECK ON THAT.

OKAY.

SO MATTHEW, IF WE'RE USING OUR PERSONAL EMAIL NOW TO COMMUNICATE AS A TEAM QANTAS SUB CAN A WORKING GROUP JUST CC BOTH YOU AND LISA AND CONTINUE TO WORK THAT WAY WITH THEIR PERSONAL EMAILS UNTIL THE CITY EMAIL'S DONE.

RIGHT.

AS LONG AS THEY KEEP YOU.

YEAH.

BECAUSE WE CAN'T, WE CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CITY EMAILS TO GET DONE.

SO, UM, THAT'S A GOOD POINT.

YEAH.

OKAY.

MAYBE THAT'S A WORKAROUND AND LIKE THE PEOPLE IN THE WORKING GROUP, WE JUST USE THEIR PERSONAL EMAIL AND JUST KIND OF ADD SOME EXTRA, YOU KNOW, WORK TO YOU AND LISA, I GUESS, I DON'T KNOW, THAT'S NOT THE BEST USE OF YOUR TIME, BUT, UH, AT LEAST TO GET GOING.

YEAH.

THAT'S, THAT'S FINE.

BECAUSE THE THING WE JUST WANNA MAKE SURE WE DON'T IS WE DON'T GET INTO THE TROUBLE OF HAVING THE WALKING QUORUM, WHICH WOULD BE, UM, NINE OR MORE PEOPLE ON THE SAME EMAIL CHAIN GOING AROUND.

SORRY.

IF I COULD ADD ONE, ONE THOUGHT, UM, THE CITY EMAIL ACCOUNT IS CONSIDERED A FAIR GAME FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS.

SO ANY BUSINESS THAT YOU'RE DOING ON YOUR CITY EMAIL COULD BE, UM, REQUESTED, UM, FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION RECORDS.

SO SIMILARLY, IF YOU'RE DOING CITY BUSINESS ON YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL, YOU MAY BECOME LIABLE FOR, YOU KNOW, OH, WE WANT THAT.

WE WANT A PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST AND IT'S ON YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL.

SO THEN YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL COULD BE SUBJECT TO A PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST.

SO THAT'S JUST A CAVEAT THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO BE AWARE OF.

UM, AND THAT'S WHAT I'LL SAY ABOUT THAT.

YES, I'VE WORKED IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE, UM, WE OBSERVED IS NOT USING PERSONAL EMAILS TO CUT FROM THAT GOVERNMENT BUSINESS FOR THAT VERY REASON.

WELL, THEN IT SOUNDS LIKE, UH, WE REALLY NEED TO GET ON THIS EMAIL SITUATION.

I'D RATHER NOT HAVE MY PERSONAL EMAILS, LIKE, UH, REQUESTED FOR LIKE A LAWSUIT OR SOMETHING, BUT WE ALREADY HAVE OUR PERSONAL EMAIL AS PART OF THE CITY BUSINESS.

ALRIGHTY.

SO I FEEL LIKE WE'VE ALREADY CROSSED THAT LINE, JUST THROWING IT OUT THERE.

WE USED IT TODAY.

WE'VE ALREADY CROSSED THE LINE.

SO I DON'T KNOW IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

OKAY.

JUST SORRY, I'M JUST THROWING IT OUT THERE.

YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? YEAH.

IT'S MORE ABOUT MITIGATING A RISK OF AN ANY, AND ALL REQUESTS GOING FORWARD AS TO TRY TO TRANSITION AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

WE ALL, SOME OF US HERE WORK IN TECH AND IT'S ALL UP TO THE, UM, LIKE I'M ON MY WORK COMPUTER, SO MY COMPANY HAS ACCESS TO THIS.

IT'S JUST INTERESTING.

SO PERSONAL OR OTHERWISE? NO.

OKAY.

YEAH.

I'LL, I'LL, I'LL, WE'LL DEFINITELY GET AN ANSWER ON THOSE, UM, CD MAIL ADDRESSES GETTING SET UP AND I'M SORRY THAT, THAT HASN'T, THAT HASN'T HAPPENED YET.

OKAY.

SO, UM, LET'S SEE.

OKAY.

YEAH.

SO THAT'S, UM, THE, THE REST OF STUFF ON THE AGENDA, WE'RE UM, THE STUFF FOR CAROLINE.

UM, I JUST GOT AN EMAIL BACK FROM HER THAT SHE IS STILL, UM, SHE SAW NOT ABLE TO WRAP UP, MAYBE NOT EVEN UNTIL FOUR 30.

UM, SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO RESCHEDULE HER PRESENTATION.

UM, OKAY.

UM, LET'S SEE, FOUR, 13 DOWN.

OKAY.

SO LET'S JUST, UM,

[01:10:02]

SO KNOWING THAT THAT CAROLINE MIGHT NOT MAKE IT TODAY, MAYBE LET'S JUST WALK THROUGH THE STUFF WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT FOR THE, FOR THE NEXT MEETING, UM, TO GET ON Y'ALL'S AGENDA.

AND THE OTHER THING IS GREAT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TODAY IS NOW THAT WE'VE GOT, UM, UH, A COMMISSIONER'S POINT TO US AND QUESTIONNAIRES CONSOLIDATE IS THEY CAN, UM, UH, THEY CAN RUN THE MEETING AND I CAN JUST KIND OF HELP THEM RUN THE MEETINGS, UM, FROM NOW ON IS, IS, UH, MOVING FORWARD, UM, AS INTERIM CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR.

UM, BUT THE THINGS I WAS HEARING TODAY WERE, UM, FOR NEXT MEETING IS, UM, FIGURED OUT SOME SORT OF WAY, SOME SORT OF LIKE TEAM-BUILDING OR BASELINE INFORMATION OR HISTORY TO GET ON THE SAME, UH, SOME, SOME SORT OF ACTIVITY OR EXERCISE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT FOR, FOR FOLKS TO DO, UM, COULD BE AT A REGULAR MEETING, COULD BE AT A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING.

UM, THE OTHER ONE, OR, UH, UM, HEARING BACK FROM THE WORKING GROUP ON, ON HIRING STAFF, UM, SEVEN, NOT WORKING GROUP, GET TOGETHER, FIGURE STUFF OUT AND BRING THAT BACK TO THE FULL FULL COMMISSION.

UM, AND THAT ALSO KIND OF START TAKING A LOOK AT KIND OF THE SCHEDULE, THE OUTRAGE, THE PUBLIC INPUT AND ENGAGEMENT, UM, UH, THOSE THINGS.

UM, UH, ONE THING I SAY TO THEM THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST IS, UM, YEAH, SINCE THERE WAS THAT REPORT BY THE FORMER, UH, 2013 ICRC COMMISSION, UH, WE COULD ASK THEM TO, UM, TO COME AND TALK ABOUT THAT IF THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

UM, UH, AND THEN, UM, AND THEN KIND OF BUILDING ON WHAT, UM, MR. PECK YOUNG WAS TALKING ABOUT IS, UH, FIGURING OUT A WAY FOR, FOR GROUPS TO, UM, COME TO MEETINGS AND, AND, UM, AND TALK TO Y'ALL.

UM, UH, YOU KNOW, IN ADDITION TO JUST THE THREE MINUTES TO GET IT, CITIZENS' COMMUNICATION, LIKE FIGURING OUT A WAY FOR LIKE DIFFERENT GROUPS OR ORGANIZATIONS TO BE ABLE TO, UM, COME IN AND PRESENT OR DISCUSS, UH, DISCUSS THIS STUFF WITH Y'ALL.

UM, WHAT, WHAT ELSE WAS IT THAT WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT FOR, UM, FOR NEXT, FOR THE NEXT MEETING ON, ON JUNE 2ND? UM, I WOULD SAY IF, UH, UH, THE CO IF THE CHAIRS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONNECT WITH THE FORMER CHAIRS AND TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THE ADMIN PERSON'S, UH, JOB DESCRIPTION OR WHATEVER WAS, THAT'D BE HELPFUL FOR ME.

DEFINITELY.

UM, I'M ALREADY WORKING ON IT, SO YEAH, WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT THAT POSITION AND PROBABLY IN THE NEXT MEETING, UM, DECIDE WHETHER WE'RE GOING TO SEEK THAT ROLE.

I, AND I THINK ONE ITEM FOR ME IS I THINK, UH, BASED ON THE INITIAL, UH, GUEST SPEAKER THAT CAME IN AND TALKED TO US ABOUT ORGANIZING THE COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN EACH OF THE DISTRICTS, I THINK I CAN SEE HOW, UH, AN EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT WOULD BE USEFUL IN HELPING COORDINATE AND, AND RUNNING THROUGH SOME OF THAT TO KEEP THIS INDEPENDENT.

AND SO I THINK THAT COULD BE ANOTHER ONE THAT WE SHOULD PROBABLY GET ON AND SCHEDULE CAUSE THAT, THAT INVOLVES THE PUBLIC.

AND WE SHOULD PROBABLY THROW THAT ON THE SCHEDULE AND I KNOW THAT THE, THE NAACP OFFERED TO HELP US ORGANIZE SOME OF THAT.

SO THAT MIGHT BE A GREAT WAY TO LEVERAGE AN EXISTING, UM, ORGANIZATION THAT'S ABLE TO DO SOME OF THE MOBILIZING FOR US WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

CORRECT.

SO SOME TO, TO PUT ON THE BOOKS SOON, CAUSE WE HAVE LIKE 10 DIFFERENT DISTRICTS TO COVER IN LIKE A FEW, FEW MONTHS TO DO IT AND THEN SOME MINOR, BUT NOT MINOR IS JUST, WE WILL HAVE A NEW COMMISSIONER ON THE JUNE 6TH, THE SECOND MEETING.

SO I KNOW WE FEEL LIKE WE ALL KNOW EACH OTHER AGAIN, BUT JUST TIME AND THE CALENDAR.

I MEAN TIME ON THE AGENDA TO INTRODUCE OURSELVES, UH, TO COMMISSIONER BLANK, UM, AND, AND HEAR FROM HIM.

SO I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

THAT'D BE ON THE AGENDA FOR NEXT TIME.

YEAH.

AND I THINK IF WE CAN SCHEDULE THAT LIKE TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE WHEN COMMISSIONER BLANKS JOINING, I THINK THAT MIGHT HELP KIND OF A GOOD FORCING FUNCTION TO MOVE THIS ALONG.

SO, UM, JUST TO KIND OF GET SOME CLARIFICATION ON THE WORKING GROUPS GOALS BEFORE JUNE 2ND, IS IT TO HAVE OUTLINED ALL THE CRITERIA THAT WE, WE NEED TO HAVE FOR THE TWO POSITIONS, THE MAPPING POSITION, AS WELL AS THE LEGAL COUNCIL, OR IS IT TO ALREADY HAVE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EACH POSITION? IT SEEMS THAT IT MIGHT BE BOTH.

UM, I MEAN, I DON'T THINK THAT WE'RE GOING TO WALK IN HAVING ALREADY DETERMINED WHO, BUT I THINK THAT WE SHOULD LAY THE GROUNDWORK, UM, AND, AND HAVE SOME GOOD NAMES, UM, FOR CANDIDATES IN MIND.

UM, BUT WE SHOULD AGREE ON

[01:15:01]

WHAT THOSE JOB DESCRIPTIONS REQUIREMENTS ARE.

OKAY, COOL.

SO, UM, I GUESS, ARE Y'ALL COMFORTABLE DOING IT ON EMAIL OR DO Y'ALL WANT TO GET TOGETHER IN PERSON? HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO THIS? IF WE DON'T HAVE CITY EMAIL, DO WE TECH, I MEAN, IF WE TEXT EACH OTHER, THEN OUR TEXT MESSAGES ARE ALSO PUBLIC.

WELL, WE CAN HAVE AN INITIAL CALL, WHICH IS THE FIVE OF US AND KIND OF DIVIDE UP WHAT WE WANT TO DO.

DO YOU WANT TO DO THAT? I THINK THAT'S VERY FAIR.

YES.

EMAIL.

IT WILL BE A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH AND BACK AND FORTH IF WE JUST SAY, OKAY, ERIN, YOU GET THREE NAMES FOR THE MATH CONSULTANT OR WHATEVER.

YEAH.

SO WE CAN NAIL THAT DOWN IF, BUT HE HAS ANY PARTICULAR CONTEXT CONTACTS THEY CAN START WITH.

THEN WE CAN DISCUSS THAT.

UM, I LOVE THE IDEA OF MATT.

WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO SEND OUT AN EMAIL WITH OUR, UM, WITH OUR PHONE NUMBERS ON IT? DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A GOOD PLAN? AND THEN WE CAN JUST FIGURE OUT A TIME TO TALK OR IS THERE A BETTER WAY? YEAH, I CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT.

UM, UH, OR IF Y'ALL WANT TO FIGURE OUT NOW, LIKE WHAT A DAY AT A TIME THAT WOULD WORK FOR A FIRST SIGN OF A CONFERENCE CALL, IS THAT EASIER? Y'ALL WANT TO DO THAT INSTEAD.

OH YEAH.

WE CAN DO THAT.

I MEAN, DO YOU HAVE YOUR CALENDARS IN FRONT OF YOU GUYS? I GUESS.

ALL RIGHT.

UM, SO I THINK IF WE JUST KINDA JUST DELEGATE IT, SHOULDN'T TAKE VERY LONG, MAYBE 30 MINUTES DESIGNATE TO SET ASIDE.

THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT.

PICK THAT MONDAY EVENING THAT EVERYBODY WAS HOPING FOR MONDAYS ALWAYS WORK WELL FOR ME ACTUALLY.

SO THAT'S FINE FOR ME.

OKAY.

SO DO YOU WANT TO SAY, UM, GIVE EVERYONE A LITTLE TIME, LIKE MAYBE SIX 30 OR SIX, SIX OR SIX 30.

THIS IS MAY 24.

UH, YEAH.

YES, THAT WORKS FOR ME.

SIX, SIX 36, SIX, SIX, SIX.

IT IS.

SOUNDS GOOD.

PERFECT.

THANK YOU.

AND THIS WILL BE, UM, IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE COORDINATING SEPARATE OR THROUGH YOU NOT? UM, IT'D BE SEPARATE.

YOU GUYS WOULD DO THAT ON YOUR OWN.

IF YOU NEED ME, I CAN BE THERE.

UM, I HAPPY TO HELP.

UM, EITHER WAY, DOES ANYONE HAVE LIKE A ZOO? DO WE WANT TO DO A ZOOM OR DO WE WANT TO DO A PHONE, AN EMAIL US, IF THAT'S EASIEST, WHAT WAS THAT? SORRY, COULD YOU HEAR ME? YOU'RE JUST GOING TO EMAIL US.

IS THAT WHAT YOU SAID? I'LL EMAIL YOU AS ABLE TO THINK.

YES.

OH, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

I USED TO HAVE ZOOM BUT NOT ANYMORE.

SO THAT'D BE GREAT.

IT'S NEW.

ALL HER MICROSOFT SOFTWARE.

YOU MAY HAVE MICROSOFT TEAMS AVAILABLE TO YOU AS PART OF YOUR MICROSOFT OFFICE.

I DON'T, UM, I KNOW I'D LOVE TO JUST HANG OUT AND LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE TALK, BUT I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE COGNIZANT OF TIME.

IS THERE A BUSINESS THAT ALL OF US NEED TO BE HERE FOR, OR CAN BE SPLIT AS WORKING GROUPS AND YOU GUYS CAN WORK ON THAT? DO WE NEED TO BE HERE? IS THERE ANOTHER TOPIC OR AGENDA ITEM THAT WILL YOU NEED ALL OF US FOR? NO, AND I JUST CHECKED AGAIN.

UH CAROLINE'S SIGNUP TO MAKE IT SO, UM, SO THAT WAS IT FOR OUR, FOR OUR FULL COMMISSION AGENDA.

SO NOT THAT I DON'T LIKE ALL OF YOU, BUT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT SIZE, SO.

OKAY.

YEAH.

THAT'S UH, UM, YEAH, SO THAT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD FOR, UH, FOR OUR NEXT MEETING.

UM, WORKING GROUP, WE'LL GET TOGETHER IN BETWEEN THAT.

UM, I'LL GET SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED ON MY SIDE.

UM, AND THEN YOU HAVE FULL COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP, HAVE A CHAIR AND A VICE CHAIR.

SO, UM, YEAH, REALLY GOOD STUFF.

YEAH.

SO IF WE HAVE ANYTHING ELSE BEFORE, WELL, THANKS.

NO, I WAS JUST SAYING, THANKS EVERYONE.

AND I THINK I'M GLAD THAT WE GOT THROUGH ALL OF THIS AND I'M GLAD WE HAVE OUR COMMISSIONER CHAIR VICE-CHAIRS WE HAVE OUR LAST COMMISSIONER PICKED UP.

SO I'M KIND OF LOOKING FORWARD TO FULL STEAM AHEAD.

SO, SO SAME HERE.

I'M THRILLED.

YEAH, DEFINITELY.

AND, UM, JUST THE, THE TEACHER IN ME WANTS TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO, YOU KNOW, EVEN IF IT'S JUST WATCHING A THREE MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE CITY, UM, DO A LITTLE BIT OF THAT ON YOUR OWN, AND IT COULD REALLY

[01:20:01]

ENHANCE THE CONVERSATION NEXT TIME.

AND I WILL LOOK INTO HAVING SOME KIND GUESTS, UM, UH, YOU KNOW, WHO, WHO HAS SOME EXPERTISE IN, IN THE CITY'S HISTORY AND IN REDISTRICTING, LIKE YOU HAD SUGGESTED, UM, COMMISSIONER CANNON.

UM, AND SO EITHER FOR JUNE 2ND OR, UM, OR DEFINITELY BY JUNE 16TH, I'D LOVE TO HAVE THAT CONVERSATION TOO.

SOUNDS FANTASTIC.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

YEAH.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE.

HAPPY FRIDAY.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.

BYE.

THANK YOU.

SORRY.
