UM, [00:00:01] ROLE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE REACH QUORUM. I'M JONATHAN FRANK'S, CHAIR. ELIZABETH MEYER. ELIZABETH MEYER, CO-CHAIR, DONNA BETTS. AND IF ALSO COULD YOU, UH, FOR PEOPLE WHO THERE'RE VIRTUALLY, IF YOU CAN MAKE SURE YOUR CAMERA'S ON AND MIKE IS ON. SO I'LL CALL AGAIN FOR DONNA BETTS. UH, MICHAEL HERE. UH, UH, COMMISSIONER MICHAEL. UM, YOU SAID YOU, YOU HAD A PREFERRED NAME. WAS IT MICHAEL OR DO YOU WANNA BE CALLED SOMETHING DIFFERENT? I APOLOGIZE. MICKEY. MICKEY. OKAY. IF WE COULD, UH, MAKE A NOTE IN THAT, UM, LEO RAMIREZ. HERE. PETE SALAZAR PRESENT. KRISTIN CHRISTIAN VALO. I'VE ONLY COUNTED FIVE. SO A CALL FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DID NOT RESPOND. CHRISTIAN VALO. DONNA BETTS. UH, JACQUELINE, WHICH COMMISSIONER IS HERE BUT HAS NOT RESPONDED SINCE YOU JUST SAID WE HAD FOUR. VIRTUALLY. JENNIFER POWELL AND LIRA. OH, I DIDN'T SEE JENNIFER'S NAME ON HERE. I'M SORRY. THAT'S OKAY. JENNIFER POWELL. OH, THERE SHE ARE. I'M HERE. SORRY. YOU LIKE PETER, SKIPPED YOUR NAME. I APOLOGIZE. . ALRIGHT. WE DO HAVE, THAT'S OKAY. WE DO [CALL TO ORDER] HAVE QUORUM THAT I CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER. SO WE, JACQUELINE DID WE DO, WE DO HAVE PUBLIC COMMUNICATION. OKAY. UH, THEY'RE OKAY. UM, WE DO NOT, THAT INDIVIDUAL WHO WANTED TO SPEAK IS [1. Approval of the minutes from the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities July 14, 2023, regular meeting.] NOT HERE. SO WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ORDER ON THE AGENDA. UH, APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES, UH, FROM THE JULY 14TH MEETING. WERE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THOSE MINUTES? MOTION TO APPROVE. ALL RIGHT. HAS BEEN MOTION. AND THERE A SECOND. I SECOND THE MOTION. AYE. HAS MOVED AND SECONDED. ALL IS IN FAVOR, PLEASE SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? HEARING NONE WHEN THIS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT. UM, [2. Discussion and updates on the Joint Inclusion Committee (JIC). (Jeremy Garza)] THE NEXT TOPIC IS DISCUSSION ON THE JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE. JENNIFER POWELL. COMMISSIONER POWELL POWELL. COMMISSIONER POWELL. SORRY I WAS MUTED. NO WORRIES. . JEREMY GARZA IS NOT HERE TO, TO SPEAK TODAY, IS THAT RIGHT? UH, AS FAR AS I KNOW. OKAY. OH, HE'S ONLINE. IF, IF YOU WANTED I'M, I'M HERE. HEY, JEREMY, EVERYBODY. HI. OKAY. OH, HEY. I JUST, I SAW YOUR NAME ON THE AGENDA AND I DIDN'T KNOW IF YOU WERE HERE OR NOT, BUT WE DO HAVE A, A BUDGET MEETING. I'M GOING TOMORROW. UM, 'CAUSE I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ANYTHING LIKE THIS, AND IT SOUNDS REALLY COOL. THERE'S A CATERED LUNCH TO, UH, I THINK LIKE, AS LONG AS WE DON'T HAVE A QUORUM, EVERYBODY, UH, IS INVITED. IF, YOU KNOW, IF WE GOT A FEW PEOPLE, IT'D BE COOL. UM, SO THIS IS, UH, YOU KNOW, OUR A S L THING FOR, UH, FIRST RESPONDERS. MM-HMM. THAT WAS APPROVED ON LAST YEAR'S BUDGET. AND THIS IS KIND OF HOW THIS DECISION MAKING PROCESS HAPPENS. SO THIS IS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THAT. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY, LIKE, PET PROJECTS THAT YOU WANT THE CITY TO APPROVE ON THE BUDGET OR ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT PRO UH, THAT PROCESS, THIS WOULD BE THE TIME TO, UH, TO DO THAT. SO, UH, I WAS TRYING TO REACH OUT TO ELIZABETH, ESPECIALLY IF, UH, IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO COME, BECAUSE SHE'S THE ALTERNATE ON, UH, THE JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE. IF I CAN'T SHOW UP TO A MEETING, UM, I UNDERSTAND THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE A VIRTUAL, UH, COMPONENT TO IT. IT'S IN PERSON. SO THAT CAN BE DIFFICULT FOR SOME OF US ON THIS, UH, MAYOR'S COMMISSION FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. BUT I ENCOURAGE ANYBODY, IT STARTS AT 11 TOMORROW, AND I'LL HAND IT OVER TO JEREMY. [00:05:02] THANK YOU SO MUCH, JENNIFER. UH, YOU GAVE A PERFECT SUMMARY, UM, OF THE EVENT. UM, IT'S GONNA BE AT THE PERMITTING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN NORTH AUSTIN, WHICH IS NEAR THE A C C HIGHLAND MALL. UM, WE'RE GONNA HAVE A CATERED LUNCH, AS JENNIFER SAID, IT'S GONNA RUN FROM 11:00 AM TO 1:00 PM SO IT'S NOT THAT LONG. IT'S ONLY ABOUT TWO HOURS. UM, BUT IT'S REALLY BIG AND, UM, AND REALLY, UM, A GOOD OPPORTUNITY, UM, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO LEARNING ABOUT THE CITY, UH, HOW THE CITY FUNCTIONS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO HOW EVERY CITY DEPARTMENT DEVELOPS THEIR BUDGET. AND THEN HOW, YOU KNOW, THE, THE CITY MANAGER HIMSELF, UM, COMES UP WITH THE, UH, THE, UH, THE CITYWIDE BUDGET EVERY YEAR, WHICH GETS RELEASED EVERY YEAR IN JULY. UM, AND I KNOW THAT, UM, IN YEARS PAST MANY COMMISSIONERS AS WELL, STAFF MEMBERS HAVE SAID HOW MUCH THEY'VE LEARNED, UM, FROM THE PROCESS. AND THE WHOLE REASON WHY WE DO THIS IS TO TRY TO CREATE A CULTURE OF INCLUSION, UM, SPECIFICALLY FOR Y'ALL'S COMMISSIONS, UM, TO MAKE SURE THAT Y'ALL'S VOICES AND THE NEEDS THAT Y'ALL ARE ARTICULATING FOR THE COMMUNITIES THAT YOU REPRESENT, UM, THAT WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE CONCERNS AND FOR THOSE NEEDS TO BE HEARD, ESPECIALLY IN THE BUDGET PROCESS AND VERY, VERY EARLY ON. UM, AND THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF, OF THE WORKSHOP. UM, SO, UM, THERE'S GONNA BE A, IT'S GONNA START WITH A SMALL PRESENTATION FROM THE BUDGET OFFICE, KIND OF RE RECAPPING THE FISCAL YEAR 24 BUDGET, WHICH WE'LL START OCTOBER 1ST. UM, THEN THEY'RE GONNA GIVE A LITTLE PRESENTATION ABOUT, YOU KNOW, NEXT YEAR'S FY 20 FIVES, BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS, AND REMIND EVERYBODY THAT BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS ARE DUE THIS UPCOMING MARCH, MARCH 30TH. UM, AND THEN, UM, WE'RE ALSO GONNA BRIEFLY TALK ABOUT THE TOWN HALLS THAT WE'RE GONNA BE ORGANIZING ON Y'ALL'S BEHALF. JUST LIKE IN YEARS PAST, WE'RE GONNA BE HOSTING BUDGET TOWN HALLS FOR ALL OF THE 10 J I C COMMISSIONS, INCLUDING THE MAYOR'S COMMITTEE. MM-HMM. . UM, AND THAT'LL BE HOSTED IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER OF THIS YEAR. SO WE'LL OVERVIEW THAT. AND THEN THE MEAT AND POTATOES OF THE WORKSHOP IS REALLY IN BREAKOUT ROOMS. SO AFTER THOSE TWO SHORT PRESENTATIONS, WE'RE GONNA HAVE BREAKOUT ROOMS. THERE'S GONNA BE 10 CITY DEPARTMENTS, THERE ARE DIRECTORS AND THEIR STAFF PRESENT. AND EACH OF THE BREAKOUT ROOMS IS GONNA BE A DIFFERENT CITY DEPARTMENT SUCH AS AUSTIN TRANSPORTATION, AUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE AUSTIN PUBLIC LIBRARY, THE AUSTIN HEALTH, AUSTIN PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, THE COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE, JUST TO NAME A FEW. AND THOSE TEAMS WILL BE IN THERE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FOR ANY OF Y'ALL WHO WILL BE ATTENDING. UM, ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE FOR THEM, UM, ABOUT ANY PROJECT, LIKE, YOU KNOW, JENNIFER, UM, HAD SAID, ANY PET PROJECT OR ANY TYPE OF ADVOCACY THAT YOU MAY WANT, UM, OR ANY QUESTION THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT THE PROGRAMS OR SERVICES, UM, THAT THAT CITY DEPARTMENT MAY PROVIDE TO THE COMMUNITIES Y'ALL REPRESENT, ESPECIALLY DISABLED COMMUNITIES HERE IN AUSTIN. THIS IS THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP, UM, WITH THOSE CITY LEADERSHIP. UM, AND THAT'S REALLY THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP, IS THAT IT GIVES YOU ALL THE OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY KIND OF CONNECT WITH THE DIRECTORS, WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF SOME OF THESE CITY DEPARTMENTS AND REALLY GET TO ASK THEM QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW THEIR PROCESSES WORK AND HOW Y ALL CAN WORK TOGETHER TO TRY TO AUTHOR BETTER BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS UPCOMING YEAR TOO. BECAUSE AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT LIKE Y'ALL GET TRAINING IN TERMS OF HOW TO WRITE A BUDGET RECOMMENDATION OR GET TRAINING IN TERMS OF HOW THE CITY WORKS OR GET TRAINING IN TERMS OF HOW, WHEN THE DEADLINES ARE AND HOW EVERYTHING WORKS. AND SO THIS IS WHAT THIS WORKSHOP TRIES TO DO, UM, IS TRY TO TRY TO PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THE CITY FUNCTIONS AND HOW, SO THAT Y'ALL CAN BE BETTER INFORMED AND, UM, TO DO THE TASKS THAT Y'ALL HAVE, WHICH IS ADVISING CITY COUNCIL ABOUT ISSUES THAT, UM, IMPACT, UM, THE DISABLED COMMUNITY IN AUSTIN. SO WE'RE JUST TRYING TO CREATE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES FOR Y'ALL TO LEARN. GO AHEAD, SAMANTHA. WHAT IS THIS? WHEN IS IT? IT'S TOMORROW. IT'S TOMORROW. OH, OKAY. DO YOU HAVE TO OR CAN YOU JUST SHOW UP TOMORROW? YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP TOMORROW. I'VE SENT EMAIL, SO IF EVERYBODY CHECKS THEIR BC UH, EMAIL, YOU'LL SEE AN EMAIL THAT CAME FROM ME TODAY. YOU'LL SEE AN EMAIL THAT CAME FROM ME TWO WEEKS AGO, ANOTHER ONE THAT CAME A MONTH AGO, UH, TALKING ABOUT THIS EVENT. YOU SHOULD ALSO SEE IT IN YOUR OUTLOOK CALENDAR THAT'S ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR BC EMAILS. IT'S ALL THERE. UM, BUT IT'S AT THE PERMITTING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER, WHICH, WHICH IS AT 6 3 1 0 WILHELMINA DELCO DRIVE, WHICH IS IN NORTH AUSTIN, RIGHT NEXT TO THE A C HIGHLAND CAMPUS WHERE THE OLD AC UM, THE OLD HIGHLAND MALL USED TO BE. UM, I WAS JUST GONNA SAY, I, I THINK IT'S, I THINK IT'S WORTH IT, UM, FOR ANYBODY WHO'S INTERESTED, UM, TO GO, UH, IT SEEMS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME. I JUST, I STILL FEEL, EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN ON THE COMMISSION ON THE MAYOR'S COMMISSION FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, I STILL FEEL LIKE I, I, I KNOW NOTHING. SO I'M EXCITED. UH, IT'S A NEAT OPPORTUNITY ALSO FOR US TO INTERACT WITH THE, ALL OF THE OTHER EQUITY COMMITTEES AND EVERYTHING THAT THE JOINT INCLUSION COMMITTEE. 'CAUSE WE REALLY, UH, WE REALLY DO GET TO ADVOCATE, UH, AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT, UH, THE COMMUNITY THAT WE'RE ADVOCATING FOR. SO IT'S, IT'S SUPER, ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO GO, I REALLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO, BUT I WILL, UH, I'M GOING AND I'LL BRING BACK AS MUCH INFORMATION AS I CAN TO Y'ALL. OKAY. THANK YOU. AND I KNOW C COMMISSIONER [00:10:01] RAMIREZ HAS ALSO INDICATED THAT, UH, SHE WANTS TO GO, I BELIEVE AS LONG AS WE DON'T BREAK QUORUM, WE SHOULD BE OKAY. SO NO MORE THAN FIVE. SO, UM, DEFINITELY, SINCE MANY OF YOU ARE NEW, I WOULD EN IF YOU'RE ABLE TO GO, I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO, UM, BECAUSE THE, WITH THE BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS, UM, WE'LL TALK ABOUT THAT LATER ON TOWARDS THE TIME THAT IT COMES UP. BUT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO GET OUR VOICES HEARD TO CITY COUNCIL TO SPEAK ON DISABILITY RELATED ISSUES THAT FOR THE CITY TO ALLOCATE FUNDS TOWARDS. UM, WE'VE HAD SEVERAL, SOME THINGS SUCH AS, UM, EQUITABLE RESTROOMS FOR, LIKE, THOSE WITH DISABILITY, LIKE CHANGING STATIONS THAT, UM, LIKE Z PARK IS FOR EXAMPLE. OR WE'VE TRIED ADVOCATING FOR BRAILLE SIGNAGE IN CITY HALL, JUST DIFFERENT ISSUES THAT WOULD AFFECT, UM, MULTIPLE POPULATIONS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY. SO IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO, I WOULD DEFINITELY ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO. IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY. UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN'T 'CAUSE I'M MOVING TOMORROW, BUT, UM, WHAT IS THE, WHAT IS THE EMAIL THAT WAS SENT JEREMY YESTERDAY OR TODAY? YEAH, IT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BC INBOX. UM, IT SHOULD BE LABELED, UH, SATURDAY, UH, SEPTEMBER 9TH. UM, JOINT INCLUSION BUDGET WORKSHOP IS THE, IS THE TITLE, UM, OF THE EMAIL. I SENT THAT, UH, AROUND 12:30 PM TODAY, I THINK. MM-HMM. , UM, UH, TO EVERY, UH, TO ALL OF THE COMMISSIONS, UM, AS WELL AS THERE SHOULD BE IN YOUR OUTLOOK CALENDAR. I SENT A REMINDER OUT LAST WEEK AND THEN THE INITIAL EMAIL LETTING EVERYBODY KNOW ABOUT A MONTH AGO. YEAH, JUST LOOK FOR AN EMAIL FROM JEREMY GARZA. OKAY. MM-HMM. . AND THEN YOU'LL FIND IT. DID ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR JEREMY OR JENNIFER? I DON'T HAVE A QUESTION, BUT I DID WANNA SAY THAT I APPRECIATE THAT Y'ALL ARE TRYING TO HELP ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT COMMITTEES, UM, BUILD CAPACITY AND INCREASE OUR ABILITY TO, UM, PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCESS. AND I JUST WANNA SAY I APPRECIATE THAT. I, I CAN'T GO TOMORROW. I HAVE SOME FAMILY BUSINESS TO TAKE CARE OF, BUT I DO APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS. YEAH, THANKS ELIZABETH. WE, WE WILL MISS YOU, BUT, UM, WE'LL BRING BACK ALL THE INFORMATION. WE CAN APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU. UH, COMMISSIONER POWELL, ANY OTHER FURTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? HEARING NONE, I JUST WANNA SAY IT IS DEFINITELY AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY. THE BUDGET TALENT HALL WORKSHOPS WILL DEFINITELY BE ANOTHER GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND AS WE HAVE, UH, SEVERAL OF THEM COMING UP IN THE NEAR FUTURE. SO IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT TOMORROW, THERE WILL BE OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO GET OUR VOICES HEARD. ALL RIGHT. UM, HEARING NO OTHER, UH, QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS CAN MOVE ON WITH THE AGENDA [3. Presentation from Yariel Diaz and Michele Lee on Cruise autonomous rideshare operations and the upcoming Origin Mobility Vehicle.] TO OUR, UM, OUR FRIENDS FROM CRUISE AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES FOR OUR PRESENTATION. GOOD AFTERNOON FOLKS. CAN YOU HEAR US? YES. AWESOME. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND THANK YOU FOR HAVING US. JUST GOING TO, OKAY. I'M GETTING WORD THAT YOU HAVE OUR PRESENTATION, SO IT'S KIND, THERE IT IS. OKAY. AND IF, UH, JUST BEFORE YOU GET STARTED, SIR, UM, IF THERE'S ANY KIND OF PICTURES OR ANYTHING, IF YOU DON'T MIND JUST DESCRIBING THEM, I AM BLIND MYSELF, SO JUST GET A, A SENSE OF INCLUSION FROM YOUR PRESENTATION. WE DEFINITELY WOULD APPRECIATE THAT. DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY. SO I'LL START WITH THAT AND THANK YOU FOR THAT, FOR THAT, UH, GUIDEPOST. SO MY NAME IS YADI DIAZ. I AM THE, UM, MY PRONOUNS ARE E HIM. I AM A 35 YEAR OLD WHITE LATINO MALE, UM, BROWN HAIR, BROWN EYES, WEARING A, UH, CHECKERED PATTERNS BLUE SHIRT. AND WITH ME TODAY IS MICHELLE LEE. ALLOW MICHELLE TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF. MICHELLE, YOU MIGHT BE ON MUTE. APOLOGIES, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. I'M NOT, UH, VERY VERSED IN WEBEX, SO HELLO. WAS LOOKING FOR THE, UH, BUTTON THERE. SO, UH, MY NAME IS MICHELLE LEE. I USE SHE HER PRONOUNS, AND I AM FOR A QUICK VISUAL DESCRIPTION. UH, I'M AN ASIAN WOMAN OF SOUTH OR EAST ASIAN DESCENT, AND I HAVE MY DARK HAIR PULLED UP. I'M WEARING A STRIPED T-SHIRT SITTING WITH A BACKGROUND IN MY HOME OFFICE. OH, OKAY. YOU CAN SEE LIKE A, A LAMP BEHIND ME, BUT NICE TO BE HERE. VERY GLAD, UM, TO, TO BE PRESENTING TODAY. GREAT. AND ALSO IN THE ROOM WITH US IS HANNAH. HANNAH, DO YOU WANNA INTRODUCE YOURSELF? YEAH. HI, I'M HANNAH GARCIA. I WORK WITH BINGHAM GROUP AND WE WORK WITH CREW HERE IN AUSTIN. UM, AND I AM A MID-HIGH GIRL BROWN HAIR AND A PONYTAIL WEARING A COOL LITTLE [00:15:01] PINK SWEATER TODAY. ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU. THANK YOU HANNAH. AND THANK YOU FOLKS FOR, FOR TAKING THE TIME TO, UH, HEAR US AND TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CRUZ AND THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING IN AUSTIN. ON THE SCREEN RIGHT NOW IS THE FIRST PAGE OF OUR PRESENTATION, WHICH IS JUST THE INTRODUCTION, MY NAME AND MICHELLE'S NAME, AND OUR TITLES. SO IF WE COULD MOVE ON TO THE NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. OKAY. SO THIS SLIDE IS OUR MEETING AGENDA. SO IT HAS ON A INTRODUCTION WHO IS CRUZ, CRUZ AND AUSTIN NEEDS AND A Q AND A PERIOD. THE PRESENTATION THAT I, THAT I'M GONNA GO THROUGH RIGHT NOW IS, UM, DESIGNED TO ANSWER MOST OF THE QUESTIONS THAT FOLKS MIGHT HAVE AS IT RELATES TO OUR SERVICE. SO, UH, IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS IN, IN PROCESS OR IF THERE ARE THINGS THAT I'M NOT EXPANDING PROPERLY OR MAYBE REQUIRE MORE OF A VISUAL DESCRIPTION, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO JUMP IN AND LET US KNOW. WE ARE, WE'RE HERE TO ADDRESS WHATEVER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE. SO JUST, UM, PUTTING THAT OUT THERE. ALSO ON THIS SLIDE IS A PICTURE OF OUR CAR. OUR CAR IS A CHEVY BOLT. IT IS AN ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLE. UH, IT HAS THE, A, A SENSOR SUITE ATTACHED TO THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE, AND A, AN ORANGE, UM, AN ORANGE, UH, WHAT WOULD YOU CALL THAT, MICHELLE? UH, YEAH, LIKE PRESIDIO, RIGHT? LIKE ISN'T THAT PRESIDIO? YES. AN ORANGE PRESIDIO, PRE AN ORANGE MARKING ACROSS THE SIDE THAT SAYS CRUISE ON IT. UH, AND ABOVE IT IT SAYS, IT SAYS, BUILDING THE WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES. AND THAT'S WHO WE ARE. WE ARE A COMPANY THAT IS BUILDING THE WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES. IF WE COULD PLEASE MOVE TO THE NEXT SLIDE. THANK YOU. SO THIS SLIDE HAS FOUR OF OUR GUIDING STARS THAT I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT EACH ONE OF THEM, UH, SELF-DRIVING ACCESSIBILITY, THE SHARED NATURE OF OUR VEHICLES, AND THE ZERO EMISSIONS, UM, UH, GUIDING POST. IT ALSO HAS A PICTURE OF A NEXT LEVEL OF AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE, OUR CRUISE ORIGIN. AND THAT IS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE, UM, SLIDE. IT IS A SORT OF BUS LOOKING VAN THAT CAN FIT ABOUT SIX FOLKS. MICHELLE, WOULD YOU LIKE TO DESCRIBE THAT A LITTLE BETTER? YEAH, I ALWAYS KIND OF, UH, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. DO A VISUAL DESCRIPTION OF LIKE, THE CAR AS LIKE SUBWAY STYLE DOORS, IMAGINING THEM OPENING, YOU KNOW, LIKE A SUBWAY, LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, HORIZONTALLY. AND IT, I KIND OF JOKE THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A TOASTER ON WHEELS . SO IMAGINING LIKE A, A MOVING A SHUTTLE THAT MOVES PEOPLE. YEAH. LIKE, BUT THE SIZE OF A A VAN, I WOULD SAY, YEAH. THANK YOU. AND IF, AND IF I DIDN'T SAY THAT BY WAY OF AN INTRODUCTION BEFORE I HANDLE C UH, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS. SO MY JOB IS TO DEAL DIRECTLY WITH GOVERNMENTS AND MUNICIPALITIES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS AND STAKEHOLDERS AND SUCH, UH, MICHELLE, OUR ACCESSIBILITY WORK. AND SHE'S REALLY, UH, THE BOSS WHEN IT COMES TO THESE CONVERSATIONS. SO I'M VERY EXCITED THAT SHE COULD JOIN ME. 'CAUSE USUALLY I, I DO THESE CONVERSATIONS ON MY OWN. SO TO START WITH, WITH WHO WE ARE, OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD THE WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES TO SAFELY CONNECT PEOPLE TO THE PLACES THINGS AND EXPERIENCES THAT THEY CARE ABOUT. SAFETY IS OUR TOP AND NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. IT'S OUR, OUR OUR REALLY NUMBER ONE THING THAT WE FOCUS ON WHEREVER WE OPERATE AND WHATEVER WE DO, BECAUSE WE REALLY THINK THAT WE ARE CREATING SOMETHING SAFER THAN A HUMAN DRIVER. AND WE REALLY STICK TO THAT. AND I'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THAT AS I TALK ABOUT WHY WE THINK THAT IS THE CASE. NUMBER TWO, AND NOT NUMBER TWO IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER, JUST BECAUSE THIS IS HOW IT'S LAID OUT ON THIS SLIDE, IS ACCESSIBILITY. AND THAT'S ONE THING THAT MICHELLE'S GONNA TALK ABOUT, ABOUT, UH, ALL OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING ON THE ACCESSIBILITY FRONT WHEN WE GET TO THAT SLIDE AND A COUPLE OF SLIDES IN. UM, ALSO THE FACT THAT THESE ARE MEANT TO BE SHARED. SO THE VEHICLES, BOTH THE CHEVY BOLT THAT IS ON THE ROADS RIGHT NOW IN AUSTIN, AND THE CRUISE ORIGIN, WHICH HOPEFULLY WILL BE ON THE ROAD SOON, ARE MEANT TO BE SHARED. UM, IT IS A RIDE SHARE RIDE HAIL PROGRAM, JUST LIKE THE, UM, LIKE OTHER FOLKS MIGHT BE USED TO UBER OR LYFT OR OTHER COMPANIES. UH, WE ARE ALSO ZERO EMISSIONS. WE ARE ALL ELECTRIC. SO ALL OF OUR FLEET, BOTH THE BOLTS AND THE ORIGIN ARE, ARE AND ALL ELECTRIC FLEET. SO ZERO TAILPIPE EMISSIONS. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. SO THIS SLIDE HAS SOME TEXT ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AND PICTURES OF OUR BOLT ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE IN SAN FRANCISCO. UH, ON THE TOP SIDE THERE IS JUST A CAR IN FRONT OF OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORTATION, LIKE A TRAIN AND A BRIDGE ON THE BOTTOM SIDE. THE PICTURE IS OUR BOLT BEING LOADED UP WITH GOODS, AND WE'LL TALK ABOUT THAT, UH, IN A MINUTE. BUT ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE IS THE, THE TEXT THAT SAYS, PARTNERING WITH PEOPLE TO DRIVE LIFE IN CITIES FORWARD. SO WHAT WE'RE OUR GUIDING STAR, OTHER THAN SAFETY, IS WE REALIZE THAT IN BRINGING THESE VEHICLES TO CITIES, IT WILL, IT WILL CHANGE THE WAY THAT FOLKS ARE INTERACTING WITH PUBLIC AND MASS TRANSIT. SO WE THINK ABOUT WILL THIS BE A SOLUTION THAT IS REALLY GONNA DRIVE CITIES FORWARD? IS THIS GOING TO SAVE MILLIONS OF LIVES? BECAUSE EVERY YEAR OVER 40,000 PEOPLE DIE IN CAR CRASHES. AND WE REALLY THINK THAT THE MAJORITY OF THOSE CAR CRASHES COULD BE, UH, SOLVED NOT JUST WITH OUR TECHNOLOGY, BUT WITH A SERIES OF LEGISLATION THAT WE WORK ON, UH, WITH, UH, VISION ZERO NETWORK FOLKS. WE [00:20:01] ALSO THINK THAT BECAUSE OF OUR VEHICLES, IT WILL RESHAPE THE WAY THAT FOLKS SEE, UM, MASS AND PUBLIC TRANSIT, WHETHER IT'S LAST MILE, WHETHER IT'S LONGER DISTANCES, OR WHETHER IT'S JUST SOMETHING THAT THEY DO LATE AT NIGHT TO GET HOME WHEN THEY'RE GONNA GO OUT FOR A DRINK OR TWO. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, WE ALSO THINK THAT IT'S, THERE'S GONNA BE A, A LARGER EMPHASIS ON ACCESSIBILITY, UH, AS IT RELATES TO NOT JUST OUR TRANSPORTATION, BUT OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORTATION. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. SO THIS SLIDE IS OUR JOURNEY. IT'S A HISTORY STARTING FROM THE LEFT HAND SIDE, UH, IN 2013. CRUISE WAS FOUNDED IN 2013, UH, BY OUR FOUNDERS, KYLE AND DAN IN SAN FRANCISCO. IT IS STILL WHERE CRUZ IS BASED TODAY, ALTHOUGH I AM BASED IN MIAMI AND MICHELLE IS BASED IN CHICAGO. OUR COMPANY IS STILL BASED IN, IN SAN FRANCISCO, UM, THREE YEARS IN, IN 2016, GENERAL MOTORS PURCHASE CREWS BRINGING MORE THAN A CENTURY'S WORTH OF EXPERIENCE AND DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING INTO OUR FLEET. THAT'S WHAT HAS ALLOWED US TO MOVE AS QUICKLY AS WE HAVE. THE REALITY IS THAT WE ARE THE ONLY AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE COMPANY THAT IS OWNED BY A VEHICLE MANUFACTURER. THE OTHER FOLKS DOING WORK IN THIS SPACE ARE OWNED BY TECH COMPANIES. AND I THINK THAT REALLY SETS US APART AND EXPLAINS WHY SAFETY IS OUR GUIDING STAR BECAUSE OUR PARENT COMPANY ALSO HAS SAFETY AS THEIR GUIDING STAR. IN 2018, CRUISE RECEIVED ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT FROM GENERAL MOTORS AND SOFTBANK AS WELL AS HONDA. AND WE ARE WORKING WITH HONDA RIGHT NOW ON BRINGING AUTONOMOUS RIDE HAIL TO JAPAN. SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT'S ONGOING. UH, IN 2020, BRUCE UNVEILED THE ORIGIN, WHICH IS THAT PURPOSE-BUILT VEHICLE, ALL ELECTRIC. AND REALLY DURING THE PANDEMIC, NOT A LOT OF EXTERNAL WORK WAS DONE ON IT, MOSTLY INTERNAL IN-HOUSE. UH, BUT IN 2021 WE PARTNERED WITH MICROSOFT AND WALMART FOR A JOINT INVESTMENT ON THE DELIVERY SIDE. WE PARTNERED ON AN, AN AV DELIVERY PILOT IN ARIZONA. WE SECURED OVER $5 BILLION IN LOAN FUNDING TO COMMERCIALIZE, TO GO COMMERCIAL, MEANING FOR PUBLIC RIDE HAIL TO CHARGE FAIRS. AND WE BEGAN THAT PROCESS TO TRY TO GET THERE. WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO GET THERE LAST YEAR, THE CALIFORNIA D M V AND PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION APPROVED CRUISE'S, RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO CHARGE A FAIR ON THE ROADS. UH, AND WE START AND WE'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT AS WE GO FORWARD. UM, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. AND WE'RE GONNA TALK NEXT ABOUT OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. SO ON THE SCREEN RIGHT NOW IS OUR VEHICLE. IT'S THE VEHICLE THAT'S ON THE ROAD. IT'S A CHEVY BOLT, AGAIN WITH THAT, UH, ORANGE MARKING ALONG THE SIDE. AND THE WORDS CRUISE ON IT, A SENSOR SUITE ON TOP. NORMALLY THIS IS, YOU WOULD SEE THIS IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE, IF YOU'RE ABLE TO SEE THE SLIDE, YOU WOULD SEE THIS AS THE, UH, G AND IT WOULD BE MOVING TO SHOW YOU WHAT THE TECHNOLOGY THAT WE HAVE INTEGRATED INTO IT. I DON'T SEE THAT ON MY END, SO IT MAY NOT BE WORKING THAT WAY, BUT THE PRESENTATION IS SHARED WITH YOU, DOES HAVE IT THAT WAY. UM, SO IF FOLKS ARE ABLE TO, TO SEE THAT PRESENTATION, TAKE A LOOK AT IT WHEN YOU CAN. AND IT WILL SEE THAT, UM, THE SENSOR SUITE. THE POINT OF THIS SLIDE IS TO SHOW YOU HOW WELL INTEGRATED THE TECHNOLOGY IS INTO THE CAR. UM, AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS VEHICLE AND THE NEXT ONE IS THAT LEVEL OF INTEGRATION. THIS VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH IT IS FULLY INTEGRATED AND MEANT TO BE AUTONOMOUS, IT IS STILL DESIGNED INITIALLY FOR A HUMAN DRIVER. THERE IS STILL STEERING WHEEL, THERE ARE STILL SIDE VIEW MIRRORS, THERE ARE STILL WINDSHIELD WIPERS, ALL THINGS REQUIRED FOR HUMAN DRIVERS, WHICH IS WHAT MAKES THIS VEHICLE A LEVEL FOUR, UH, VEHICLE, WHICH IS THE, THE TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY HAVE, UM, RIGHT BEFORE THE FULLY, FULLY AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE. THE ORIGIN THAT WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT IN A BIT. UH, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE ON RIGHT NOW IS JUST A LOT OF TEXT WITH MORE ANOTHER GRAPH OF OUR VEHICLE AND THE SENSOR SUITE. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, IT SAYS, SAFELY NAVIGATING STREETS SAFE, DR UH, SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES NEVER GET TIRED, DISTRACTED OR DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE, MAKING OUR RIDE SAFER FOR EVERYONE. A CRUISE VEHICLE USES MULTIPLE SENSORS, AND WE DO, WE USE LIDAR, RADAR CAMERA AND ACOUSTIC SENSORS, ALL OF WHICH, UH, BRING THE INFORMATION INTO THE AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SYSTEMS COMPUTER. THAT AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SYSTEMS COMPUTER IS MAKING DECISIONS 10 TIMES PER SECOND TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE CITY. IT IS, UM, DOING THIS AND GETTING INFORMATION DOWN TO THE CENTIMETER AND HAS A FULL 360 DEGREE VISION OF WHAT'S GOING ON. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE SLIDE, THERE ARE THREE POINTS. NUMBER ONE SAYS, HOW DOES CREW SEE THE WORLD? WE HAVE OVER 40 PLUS STATE-OF-THE-ART SENSORS ON OUR VEHICLES. I MENTIONED ALREADY, LIDAR, CAMERA AND RADAR, BUT THEY'RE NOT JUST ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THE ROUTE. AND THESE VEHICLE, THESE SENSORS HELP, UM, CREATE THAT THREE D MAP. SO THAT'S THE SECOND POINT WHICH SAYS, HOW DOES CREWS KNOW WHERE IT IS? WE CREATE A THREE D RICH MAP, WE TAKE LIVE SNAPSHOTS OF WHERE WE ARE IN THE WORLD, AND WE MATCH THAT WITH A THREE D MAP THAT WE CONSTANTLY ARE CREATING AND UPDATING. SO A QUESTION THAT WE SOMETIMES GET FROM CITIES IS, WHAT DO YOU NEED FROM US? WHAT DO YOU NEED US TO BE ABLE TO DO? [00:25:01] THANKFULLY, IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, LEGISLATION WAS PASSED IN 2017 AT THE STATE LEVEL, CREATING A STATEWIDE FRAMEWORK FOR US TO BE ABLE TO OPERATE. THAT FRAMEWORK ALREADY EXISTS, SO WE CAN ALREADY OPERATE TODAY ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE. WHAT, UH, WE STILL NEED TO DO IS THIS MAPPING STAGE WHERE WE GO TO THE CITIES BEFORE WE ARE EVER LIVE FOR ANY HUMANS TO GET IN OUR VEHICLES. AND WE MAP AND WE MAP AND WE MAP AND WE MAP SO THAT WE CAN GET CERTAINTY OF EVERY SINGLE STREET, EVERY DEAD END, EVERY ONE WAY, SO THAT WE KNOW BEFORE WE'RE EVER LIVE FOR A PERSON TO GET IN OUR CAR THAT IT'S DRIVING THE WAY IT SHOULD. THE THIRD BULLET SAYS, HOW DOES CRUZ MAKE DECISIONS? THE AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SYSTEMS COMPUTER THAT LITERALLY IS THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT TAKES DATA FROM THE MULTIPLE SENSORS AND CONVERTS IT INTO DECISIONS SO THAT THE VEHICLE CAN NAVIGATE SAFELY. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE IS ABOUT THE SENSOR TECHNOLOGY. SO ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND, AGAIN, IT'S OUR VEHICLE HIGHLIGHTING THE SENSORS, RADAR, LIDAR, AND UM, CAMERAS. AND THEN ON THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE SLIDE, IT DENOTES EACH ONE OF THESE SENSOR TYPES. IT HAS CAMERA, LIDAR, AND, AND RADAR. AND IT SAYS ON THEIR CAMERA, CAMERAS HELP TO CLASSIFY AND TRACK OBJECTS TO MAKE THEM CONFIDENT, REAL TIME DECISIONS. SO THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE WE'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES ON THE ROAD. WE NEED TO SEE, SEE EVERYTHING AROUND US SO THAT WE CAN MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON, ON WHAT WE, UH, WHAT WE'RE SEEING. BUT WE CAN'T JUST DEPEND ON THAT SITE. WE ALSO HAVE TO DEPEND ON THE LIDAR, LIDAR MEASURES DISTANCE BETWEEN THOSE OBJECTS DOWN TO THE CENTIMETER. SO IT'S HELPING TO CREATE THAT ADDITIONAL, UH, BUFFER BETWEEN WHAT WE SEE, HOW CLOSE IT IS TO US. AND THEN MOVING ON TO THE RADAR PORTION OF THE, OF THE CONVERSATION, WHICH IS A, THE RADIO WAVES HELP TO QUICKLY MEASURE THE TRAJECTORY AND THE SPEED OF THOSE OBJECTS ON THE ROAD. IT'S NOT JUST ANOTHER CAR NEXT TO US, IT ALSO IS A CYCLIST. IT IS A PEDESTRIAN, IT IS A PERSON CROSSING, UH, CROSSWALK OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET SOMETIMES A PERSON ON THE SCOOTER. SO WE NEED TO KNOW WHERE ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE SO THAT WE CAN ACT IN A WAY THAT'S ACCORDINGLY. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE SAYS, SAFELY NAVIGATING COMMUNITIES. ON THE RIGHT HAND, THERE'S A PICTURE OF ONE OF OUR VEHICLES STOPPED AT A CROSSWALK AS CHILDREN CROSS THE CROSSWALK. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, THERE'S TEXT THAT SAYS CRUISES APPROACH TO SAFETY. UM, UM, THE BULLETS ON THIS PAGE ARE TESTING, PARTNERING WITH FIRST RESPONDERS, PARTNERING WITH ROAD SAFETY EXPERTS, AND DATA REPLAY AND REGRESSION TESTING. THE FIRST BULLET OF TESTING IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO NOT JUST ON THE FRONT END, BUT CONTINUOUSLY THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS. WE DO MONTHS AND MONTHS OF TESTING BEFORE WE'RE EVER LIVE IN THE MARKET. UM, 24 HOUR TESTING IN DAYTIME AND IN NIGHTTIME WITH A HUMAN DRIVER TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GETTING ALL OF THE DATA THAT WE NEED BEFORE WE'RE EVER LIVE. WE PARTNER WITH FIRST RESPONDERS TO DO TRAINING TO TEACH THEM HOW TO INTERACT WITH OUR VEHICLES, TO LET THEM KNOW HOW OUR VEHICLES OPERATE IN THE REAL WORLD AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. AND BASED ON THEIR FEEDBACK, WE ALSO CHANGE THE WAY OUR VEHICLES, UH, OPERATE. AS AN EXAMPLE, I'VE DONE PERSONALLY DONE TRAINING WITH A P D ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO, AND WE HAVE ANOTHER TRAINING COMING UP IN TWO WEEKS WITH A P D, WITH A F D, AND WITH E M S. SO WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING THESE TRAININGS AND WE ALSO JUST ONBOARDED A COUPLE OF FOLKS TO DO TRAINING, UM, REGULARLY SO THAT AS NEW FOLKS ARE COMING IN, THEY'RE GETTING THIS ADDITIONAL TRAINING. THE THIRD BULLET SAYS, ROAD SAFETY EXPERTS PARTNERING WITH ROAD SAFETY EXPERTS. WE ARE HAVE JOINED THE VISION ZERO NETWORK AND WITH MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVERS, WE, THEY ADVISE US ON WAYS THAT OUR VEHICLE SHOULD BE OPERATING AND WE WORK WITH THEM ON LEGISLATION AS NEEDED, AS AN EXAMPLE. UM, A LEGISLATION IN CALIFORNIA TO ALLOW FOR CITIES TO REDUCE SPEED LIMITS. THE LAST BULLET IS DATA RELAY AND REGRESSION TESTING. AND WE ARE CONSTANTLY USING, UH, DATA-DRIVEN IMPROVEMENTS AS, UM, WE UPDATE OUR SOFTWARE EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE IS PUTTING, UM, A BOOKEND ON OUR CONVERSATION OF SAFETY BEFORE WE CONTINUE A AS TO WHERE WE ARE TODAY. ON THIS SLIDE, ON THE LEFT, IT SAYS, SAFETY IS THE CORE OF EVERYTHING WE DO. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE IS A PICTURE OF OUR VEHICLE AND TWO PERSONS STANDING IN FRONT OF IT, AND IT SAYS, MAKING OUR CITY SAFER. BELOW THAT, IT, THERE ARE THREE BULLETS. THE FIRST ONE SAYS DEDICATED SAFETY WEBSITE PAGE. WE HAVE A DEDICATED PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE@GETCRUISE.COM SLASH SAFETY, WHERE YOU CAN READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE. AS WELL AS THE SECOND BULLET. OUR CREW SAFETY REPORT IS ALSO ON OUR WEBSITE. AND THE THIRD BULLET SAYS, EXTERNALLY AUDITED SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. WE ARE EXTERNALLY AUDITED BY THE SAME FOLKS THAT DO AUDITING FOR AVIATION AND ENERGY SECTORS. NEXT SLIDE. CRUISE. TODAY IS WHAT THIS SLIDE SAYS. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. SO THIS SLIDE IS ABOUT RIDE HAIL IN SAN FRANCISCO. AS I MENTIONED, WE ARE BASED IN SAN FRANCISCO. [00:30:01] THAT'S WHERE THE COMPANY STARTED. SO THAT IS WHERE OUR FIRST RIDE HAIL, UM, STARTED AND IT STARTED JUNE OF LAST YEAR. THIS SLIDE HAS A PICTURE OF SOMEONE GETTING INTO OUR VEHICLE AT NIGHTTIME. ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE SLIDE AND ABOVE IT, IT SAYS A COMMERCIAL AV RIDE. HAIL SERVICE IS THREE THINGS DRIVERLESS, PUBLIC AND FARED. LAST FALL, C E O KYLE VAUGHT TOOK THE FIRST DRIVERLESS RIDE IN SAN FRANCISCO. UM, DRIVER SLIDE IN FEBRUARY, WE BEGAN WELCOMING MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO EXPERIENCE OUR SERVICE AND ARE NOW GOING COMMERCIAL. COMMERCIAL IS WHAT WE'RE REALLY TALKING ABOUT TODAY. IT'S WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW IN AUSTIN AND IT'S WHERE WE HOPE TO BE IN ALL OF THE MARKETS THAT WE'VE ANNOUNCED. WE'VE ANNOUNCED NOW 15 MARKETS THAT WE HOPE TO BE LIVE IN SOON. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE, THERE ARE FOUR BULLETS. THE FIRST ONE SAYS, CREWS RECEIVED THE FIRST EVER DRIVERLESS DEPLOYMENT PERMIT GRANTED BY THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION, C P U C. THE SECOND BULLET SAYS THE PERMIT MAY MEANS THAT CRUISE CAN OFFER FULLY DRIVERLESS RIDES TO THE PUBLIC AND CHARGE FAIR. WE ACTUALLY RECENTLY RECEIVED APPROVAL TO DO THIS 24 HOURS. SO WE NOW HAVE THAT ABILITY. WE HAVE, WE'VE HAD THAT ABILITY IN TEXAS, BUT WE NOW JUST GOT THAT ABILITY IN CALIFORNIA, WE'RE CONTINUING TO GROW OUR FLEET IN SAN FRANCISCO AND THROUGHOUT THE US IN SAN FRANCISCO ALONE, WE'VE COMPLETED OVER 4 MILLION DRIVERLESS MILES. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. OH, FOR CONTEXT BEFORE WE CONTINUE, SINCE I GAVE YOU A NUMBER FOR SAN FRANCISCO IN AUSTIN, SINCE WE LAUNCHED IN NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR, UH, WE HAVE ALREADY DRIVEN OVER 600,000 DRIVERLESS MILES IN AUSTIN, WHICH IS PRETTY STAGGERING WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT, UH, THAT IT'S BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR ALREADY. THE SLIDE BEFORE US RIGHT NOW ON THE TOP SAYS RIDE HAIL EXPANSION. IT'S A MAP OF OUR EXPANSION MARKET THAT SAYS THAT HAS A PLOT FOR PHOENIX, ARIZONA AND A DOT FOR AUSTIN, TEXAS. AND IT SAYS, WE'RE HITTING THE ROAD. SEE YOU SOON. ON THE STREETS OF AUSTIN AND PHOENIX, ON THE RIGHT HAND, TWO BULLETS. IT'S A CRUISE LAUNCHED RIDE HAIL SERVICE IN AUSTIN AND PHOENIX, Q FOUR OF 2022. AND THE SERVICE WILL EXPAND NEXT YEAR. THIS YEAR, SORRY. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE IS ABOUT OUR DELIVERY SIDE OF THE BUSINESS. SO ON TOP OF THE FACT OF OUR RIDE HAIL, WHICH IS WHERE WE BEGIN EVERY SERVICE IN EVERY MARKET, EVENTUALLY WE ARE LOOKING TO BRING DELIVERY TO EACH OF THESE MARKETS AS WELL. SO THIS SLIDE TALKS ABOUT THE DELIVERY PILOT THAT WE HAVE IN ARIZONA. ON THE TOP IT SAYS ARIZONA DELIVERY, AND THEN SAYS CRUISE EXPANDS WALMART AUTONOMOUS DELIVERY PILOT IN ARIZONA. BELOW THAT, THERE'S A PICTURE OF ONE OF OUR VEHICLES WITH THE BACK DOOR OPEN AND, AND A UH, PERSON WITH A WALMART BAG PLACING THE BAG INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. THREE BULLETS, THAT'S A LAST MILE DELIVERY PARTNERSHIP WITH WALMART IN ARIZONA COMPLETED OVER 30,000 DELIVERIES, EXPANDED FROM ONE TO EIGHT STORES WITH MORE TO COME IN 2023. SO I ALWAYS HIGHLIGHT THIS BECAUSE WE REALLY DO HOPE TO DO THIS IN EVERY MARKET THAT WE'RE IN. AND AUSTIN IS, IT WILL BE COMING SOON. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. I, SO THIS IS, THIS SLIDE IS ABOUT AUSTIN RIDE. HA. ON THE TOP IT SAID AUSTIN RIDE HA LAUNCHED. BELOW THAT, THERE'S A PICTURE OF, UH, ONE OF OUR VEHICLES CROSSING A BRIDGE IN DOWNTOWN AUSTIN. UM, I WILL LET HANNAH CORRECT ME ON THE EXACT LOCATION 'CAUSE I STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED ALL THE BRIDGES IN AUSTIN, EVEN THOUGH I'M THERE ALMOST EVERY OTHER WEEK. BUT IT, THIS SLIDE TALKS ABOUT, GO AHEAD HANNAH. YEAH. IS THIS ON? OKAY. YEAH, THAT'S THE ONE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CENTRAL LIBRARY, UM, CROSSING, UM, OVER, I BELIEVE IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY. IT'S THE ONE WITH, UM, I CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT IT'S CALLED, BUT IT'S RIGHT NEXT TO THE LIBRARY. SORRY ABOUT THAT. WE'LL CONFIRM. NO WORRIES. BUT JUST TO CON CONCLUDE THAT VISUAL DESCRIPTION ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THIS SLIDE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ALL OF THE WORK THAT WE TAKE BEFORE WE ARE EVER LIVE IN YOUR MARKET, WHICH I THINK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND. UM, THE FOUR BULLETS HERE ARE MAPPING OUR INITIAL SERVICE AREA, DEVELOPING SITES FOR LAUNCHING AND SERVICING AS WELL AS CHARGING VEHICLES. THE THIRD BULLET IS COLLECTING ON-ROAD DATA AND AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES STAFFED BY TEST OPERATORS AND PREPARING TO FULLY TO BEGIN FULLY DRIVERLESS SERVICES. WAY, WAY, WAY BEFORE WE EVER WENT LIVE IN A MARKET, WE STARTED TO LOOK AT WHERE WE WERE GONNA OPERATE. THAT'S BASED ON OUR INTERNAL RESTRICTIONS. LIKE AS AN EXAMPLE, WHEN WE STARTED IN AUSTIN, WE WERE DRIVING A MAXIMUM OF 25 MILES PER HOUR. WE ARE NOW AT 30 MILES PER HOUR, BUT THAT IS ALMOST A YEAR LATER. THAT JUST BEGAN ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO. BUT BECAUSE OF THAT, THAT MEANS WE'RE NOT DRIVING HIGHWAYS. WE'RE NOT A MOPAC, WE'RE NOT, UH, HEADING TO THE AIRPORT. WE'RE NOT CROSSING DRAWBRIDGES. UH, UP UNTIL VERY RECENTLY WE WERE NOT CROSSING LADY BIRD LAKE. SO JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT SOME OF THOSE LIMITATIONS HAVE BEEN WITH THE INITIAL MAP. AND YOU'LL SEE A PICTURE, UH, UH, OF A MAP. AND I'LL DESCRIBE IT IN A COUPLE OF SLIDES. UM, ONCE WE HAVE THAT INITIAL MAP, WE DO THAT. THAT'S THE NEXT SLIDE. YES. ONCE WE HAVE THAT INITIAL MAP, WE DO, UM, WHAT WE CALL MILEAGE ACCUMULATION, WHERE WE ADD MORE AND MORE AND MORE AND MORE MILES HERE BECAUSE IT'S [00:35:01] VERY IMPORTANT FOR US TO HAVE THAT SAFETY USE CASE BEFORE WE EVER LET ANYONE INTO OUR CARS. THEN WE GO INTO VALIDATION. SO WE HAVE THIS THREE D MAP, WE HAVE A VIRTUAL VERSION OF OUR VEHICLE, AND WE RUN THAT VEHICLE THROUGH THE THREE D MAP TO TEST IT TO SEE HOW SURE WE ARE THAT IT'S GONNA OPERATE THE WAY WE THINK IT IS. AND WE RUN SCENARIOS THERE, LIKE A PERSON CROSSING THE STREET, A UH, A PERSON ON A BIKE, A PERSON ON A MOUNTED POLICE PATROL. ALL OF THESE THINGS THAT WE, WE THINK WE'RE GONNA ENCOUNTER AND WE'VE SEEN IN THIS MARKET TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE, WE, WE HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS THAT WE'RE GONNA GET. NEXT SLIDE. SO HERE ON THIS SLIDE, WHAT WE HAVE IS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, THE AUSTIN OPERATIONAL DESIGN DOMAIN. WHAT THAT MEANS IS THE GEO-FENCED AREA WITHIN WHICH WE OPERATE. SO WHEN I SAID THAT WE ARE LIMITED BY OUR OPERATIONS, THAT'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST LIMITS THAT WE HAVE. WE ONLY OPERATE WITHIN A GEO-FENCED AREA, ONLY WITHIN, UH, IN A CERTAIN AREA. YOUR EN YOUR BEGINNING OF THE RIDE AND THE END OF THE RIDE ALL HAVE TO BE THERE. SO ON THIS, ON THE, UM, MAP ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE SCREEN IS DOWNTOWN AUSTIN, THE UT WEST CAMPUS AREA, HYDE PARK, HANCOCK, BRYER WOODS, CLARKVILLE, UM, AND A LITTLE BIT OF, UM, AROUND THE CITY HALL AREA AND THE CAPITAL AREA AS WELL. SO IT, IT COVERS THESE NEIGHBORHOODS, UM, I AND SOME SURROUNDING RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS. THE OPERATIONAL HOURS ARE FROM 7:00 PM TO ABOUT 6:00 AM SO NIGHTTIME, WE ALL HAVE NOW STARTED TO SHIFT SOME TESTING INTO DAYTIME 'CAUSE WE WANNA BE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR SERVICE INTO THE DAYTIME. UM, BUT THAT'S WHERE WE ARE NOW. WE HAVE THREE FACILITIES IN AUSTIN THAT ARE VERY VISIBLE. WE CAN'T, IT'S NOT, WE DON'T HIDE THEM. THERE ARE A COUPLE BLOCKS FROM APDS HEADQUARTERS AND THEY ARE ONE BLOCK FROM SIXTH STREET. SO HIGHLY, HIGHLY VISIBLE. THE THREE ADDRESSES ARE 7 0 1 TRINITY STREET, EIGHT 11 TRINITY STREET, AND SEVEN 10 TRINITY STREET. WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE PERMANENT LOCATIONS. AS WE EXPAND THIS MAP. WE WILL NEED MORE LOCATIONS TO BE ABLE TO SERVICE THEM PROPERLY. OUR INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS ARE SECURE LOCATIONS. WE OPERATE THESE SITES 24 7 AND THERE ARE EMPLOYEES THERE 24 7. WE NOW HAVE OVER A HUNDRED EMPLOYEES LOCALLY IN AUSTIN. UM, WE NEED MULTIPLE POINTS TO ENTER AND EXIT THE SITE. EGRESS AND INGRESS, WE NEED CHARGING CAPABILITIES, LIGHTING FIVE G, INTERNET AND SPACE FOR TEAM FACILITIES. SO THAT IS WHAT WE ARE WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW WITH THE MAP. THIS MAP IS EXPANDING INTO EAST AUSTIN, NORTH INTO MORE NEIGHBORHOODS AND SOUTH OF LADY BIRD LAKE. WE ARE TESTING THAT RIGHT NOW, BUT WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO, UH, GET TO THE POINT WHERE WE'RE OFFERING THAT GENERAL PUBLIC AND THE NEXT COMING WEEKS. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. SO THIS SLIDE SAYS NOVEL VEHICLE DESIGN AND HERE'S WHERE THINGS ARE REALLY GONNA GET COOL. UM, THE NEXT VEHICLE THAT WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT IS THE ORIGIN, THE ORIGIN, THE, THE SLIDE RIGHT NOW HAS A PICTURE OF OUR ORIGIN ON THE RIGHT HAND SLIDE SIDE WITH THE SUBWAY STYLE DOORS OPEN. AND YOU CAN SEE INSIDE THE, THE CABIN, IT'S EMPTY. THE LIGHTS ARE SHINING IN. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE IT SAYS ORIGIN, UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE, THERE ARE THREE PORTIONS. ONE SAYS PURPOSE-BUILT, ONE SAYS AMERICAN MADE. THE OTHER ONE SAYS SHARED. AND UNDER EACH, THERE'S TEXT PURPOSE-BUILT, UH, ORIGIN IS BUILT, IS PURPOSE-BUILT AS AN AV TO OFFER SELF-DRIVING SERVICES TO SERVE MORE PEOPLE SAFELY AND SUSTAINABLY. AND IT REALLY WILL CHANGE THE WAY TRANSPORTATION AND FOLKS EXPERIENCE IT. AMERICAN MADE, IT'S MADE IN FACTORY ZERO WHERE GENERAL MOTORS MAKES ALL OF THEIR ELECTRIC VEHICLES. AND WE'RE, IT'S MEANT TO BE SHARED. YOU CAN SIT IN A CAMPFIRE STYLE SITTING, UH, FACING EACH OTHER. THAT REALLY WILL ALLOW US TO, TO DO A LOT MORE WITH THIS SPACE. FOR, FOR CONTEXT, I'M FIVE SIX. I'M NOT VERY TALL PERSON. AND I CAN SIT IN HERE AND I CAN STRETCH MY LEGS OUT AND I DON'T REACH THE OTHER SIDE. SO IT, IT, THERE'S A LOT OF SPACE HERE. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THIS SLIDE ON THE TOP SAYS CRUISE ORIGIN. IT HAS ANOTHER PICTURE OF OUR ORIGIN AND IT HAS DESCRIPTIONS AROUND IT. ON THE TOP LEFT IT SAYS LIDAR, RADAR CAMERAS, ACOUSTIC SENSORS IN CORNER PODS AND ROOFTOP MODULE. THIS SHOWS YOU WHERE THE SENSORS ARE. IT ALSO SAYS IN THE MIDDLE, MANUFACTURED BY GM AT FACTOR ZERO IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE, IT TALKS ABOUT THE DIMENSIONS OF THE VEHICLE IN MILLIMETERS. SO IF WE MOVE IT UP TO METERS, IT'S UM, UH, WE HAVE, UH, 4.659, UH, METERS BY 2.032 METERS AND 2.032 METERS. THAT'S LENGTH, WIDTH, AND HEIGHT. IT IS ON GM'S ALTIUM BATTERY PACK, WHICH ARE MADE IN AMERICA, AND IT'S AN ALL ELECTRIC DESIGN. NEXT SLIDE. SO I'LL KICK IT OVER TO MICHELLE. THANK YOU. HI, SO THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. UH, I FORGOT TO MENTION EARLIER. SO I, I, YOU KNOW, MY, I'M ARIEL SAID THAT MY TITLE IS ON THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS [00:40:01] TEAM AND LEADING ACCESSIBILITY. AND IT'S, IT REALLY IS A LOT MORE THAN THAT. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I, I PERSONALLY HAVE A DISABILITY MYSELF AND I, UH, USE A POWER WHEELCHAIR. AND I'VE HAD DONE SO FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE, THE REAL BURDEN AND HASSLE THAT LIKE CURRENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, LIKE OFFER PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND JUST PEOPLE IN GENERAL. UM, AND REALLY EXCITED TO BE HERE DOING THIS WORK BECAUSE I REALLY DO SEE THE POTENTIAL OF, OF SELF-DRIVING TECHNOLOGY TO REALLY, YOU KNOW, SUPPORT AND EMPOWER AND REALLY UNLOCK A LOT OF INDEPENDENCE FOR SO MANY PEOPLE WHO DON'T DRIVE, INCLUDING MYSELF. SO I DON'T DRIVE. UM, SO I WORK CLOSELY WITH A LOT OF THE TEAMS AND ON THIS SLIDE IT TALKS ABOUT THE CURRENT ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES. AND IT HAS LIKE FOUR GRAPHICS OF, UH, SCREENSHOTS OF WHAT OUR APP LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU WOULD SIGN UP AND YOU, YOU CAN, YOU KNOW, TURN ON THESE ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES THAT OUR, UH, SOFTWARE ENGINEERS HAVE DESIGNED. AND WE'RE CONSTANTLY ADDING MORE. AND THESE ARE, ARE JUST FOUR OF OF THEM. AND I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU AFTER THIS TO DOWNLOAD THE APP, CHECK IT OUT AND, AND SEE HOW YOU, WHAT YOU THINK AND GIVE US FEEDBACK. BUT, UM, ON THE SLIDE WE HAVE R T T SUPPORT, AUDIO VISUAL WALKING DI DIRECTIONS, UM, AND USER INITIATED HORN HONK AND AUDIBLE VISUAL END OF RIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS. SO BASICALLY IN THE GRAPHIC KIND OF, UH, DESCRIBES, YOU KNOW, TURNING IT ON AND HOW IT LOOKS. BUT BASICALLY WE HAVE, UH, WE'VE IN OUR CURRENT VEHICLES THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE LIKE A HATCHBACK STYLE VEHICLE, WE'VE THOUGHT ABOUT ACCESSIBILITY AND, AND WE'VE ALWAYS TRIED TO INCORPORATE IT WHERE WE CAN. SO WE, WE HAVE, YOU KNOW, DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING SUPPORT IN THE R T T T UM, FEATURE. WE DO HAVE AUDIBLE AND VISUAL WALKING DIRECTIONS THAT KIND OF INTEGRATE WITH YOUR PHONE'S TECHNOLOGY TO, UH, TO WORK WITH VOICEOVER TECHNOLOGY TO GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS WHEN TO FIND THE CAR, UM, AND BE IN THE, THE HORN HONKING FEATURE CAN OBVIOUSLY HELP YOU, YOU KNOW, HONK THE HORN AND, AND HERE WHERE THE VEHICLE IS. 'CAUSE MAYBE THERE'S A, A BUNCH OF THE CRUISE CARS IN THE LINE AND YOU'RE LIKE, WHICH ONE IS IT? WHICH ONE DO I WANNA GET INTO? SO IT HELPS WITH FINDING WAY, FINDING THE CAR AND HAVING, UM, AUDIBLE AND VISUAL END OF OF RIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS IN THE VEHICLE. JUST SO YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING, WHERE, WHERE, WHEN YOU ARRIVE, THESE KIND OF THINGS ARE IMPORTANT. UH, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. AND SO THAT, THAT THOSE BE THOSE FEATURES THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, THOSE EXIST NOW. BUT WE'RE ALSO THINKING, OKAY, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, YOU KNOW, ARE NOT JUST BLIND DEAF AND, AND THOSE KIND OF FOLKS. LIKE THERE'S FOLKS WHO WITH MOBILITY DISABILITIES, AND HOW ARE WE GONNA ACCOMMODATE THOSE FOLKS? AND UM, THIS SLIDE HAS IS TALKING ABOUT THE CRUISE WAVE OR THE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE. AND ON THE, THE RIGHT SIDE, THERE'S TWO LIKE PHOTOS. UH, ONE OF ME AND A PERSON SITTING IN FRONT OF THE, UH, CRUISE ORIGIN VEHICLE WITH THE RAMP OUT. AND THEN BELOW IT, IT SHOULD BE A, A GIF OR GIF, HOWEVER YOU SAY IT, BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING WITH THE RAMP EXTENDS OF THE SAME VEHICLE, LITTLE ANIMATED ONE. UM, BUT REALLY, YOU KNOW, ON THE SLIDE THERE'S TEXT ON, IT SAYS SAYING THAT LIKE, ORIGIN WITH THE CRUISE WAVE WILL REALLY TRANSFORM PEOPLE'S LIVES. AND I, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT AS A WHEELCHAIR USER, I CAN'T GET A RIDE ALL THE TIME WHENEVER I WANT WITH, WITH UBER, TAXI, LYFT, ALL THE THINGS THAT EXIST IN PARATRANSIT. AND THIS IS REALLY GOING TO, UM, YOU KNOW, CHANGE LIVES AND, AND OPEN UP DOORS FOR, FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. AND WE REALLY DO SEE A FUTURE WHERE SELF-DRIVING CAN MAKE IT EASIER FOR EVERYONE AND REALLY EMPOWER PEOPLE'S INDEPENDENCE. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. WELL, I DO HAVE A VIDEO. UH, I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS IN THIS SLIDE. , I CAN BRING IT UP. HOLD ON. OH, MAYBE NOT THIS ONE. NO. SO MICHELLE, IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A PRESENTATION FROM BEFORE YOU ADDED THE VIDEO. OH, LET ME, IS IT OKAY IF I SHARE THE VIDEO LIVE HERE? I CAN, YOU KNOW, UM, SHARE THE SCREEN 'CAUSE I THINK THE VIDEO SAYS MORE THAN I CAN SAY. UH, AND THEN WE'LL, WE'LL . HEY MICHELLE, DO YOU WANNA, BEFORE YOU PLAY THE VIDEO, TALK ABOUT THE ACCESSIBILITY COUNCIL? SURE. YEAH, THAT'S A GREAT, THAT'S A GREAT FLAG. SO WE ARE, WE ARE BUILDING THIS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE, BUT WE ARE NOT DOING THIS IN A VACUUM. AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES REALLY NEED TO BE INCLUDED FROM THE BEGINNING AND FROM THE DESIGN. AND THAT'S WHY LIKE I WORK HERE AND, YOU KNOW, THEY HIRED ME. BUT ALSO, YOU KNOW, WE'RE, WE'RE TRYING TO, TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VOICES OF THE COMMUNITY AND AND THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY ARE HEARD AT THE BEGINNING IN THE DESIGN. SO, UM, WE'VE LAUNCHED THE CRUISE ACCESSIBILITY COUNCIL, WHICH IS A CROSS DISABILITY GROUP THAT INFORMS AND REALLY LIKE, TAKES A LOOK AT AND HOLDS US ACCOUNTABLE TO ALL THE THINGS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON. AND, UH, YOU KNOW, WE, WE MEET QUARTERLY AND WE'RE, IT'S, IT'S A GREAT GROUP OF FOLKS. WE JUST HAD CONGRESSMAN LANGEVIN JOIN. HE IS A FORMER CONGRESSMAN AND I THINK THE ONLY QUADRIPLEGIC TO SERVE IN CONGRESS FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS, WHICH IS PRETTY COOL. SO HE, HE JUST JOINED US, BUT WE HAVE A GOOD GROUP OF FOLKS THAT ARE, YOU KNOW, CONTINUALLY LOOKING ALL AT ALL OF OUR PRODUCTS, THE SERVICES AND ALSO LIKE THE FEATURES THAT WE'RE DESIGNING AND WORK CLOSELY WITH ALL THE ENGINEERS TO MAKE SURE THAT, YOU KNOW, WHAT WE'RE DOING ISN'T JUST AT COMMUNITIES BUT WITH COMMUNITIES. AND, UM, WITH THAT, I WILL PAUSE FOR A SECOND AND LOOK FOR [00:45:01] THE VIDEO. MAYBE ANYONE HAS QUESTIONS FOR ARIEL? GIMME A SECOND. I'LL FIND THE, I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. UH, PLEASE TELL US , UM, ON THE COMMISSION. UM, I KNOW I WORK DOWNTOWN SOMETIMES BY THE BOB BULLOCK. AND DEPENDING ON THE CONSTRUCTION THAT HAPPENS IN THAT AREA, YOU KNOW, DEPENDING ON THE UBER I GET, YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S GONNA BE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO GET INTO A VEHICLE OR NOT. IT JUST DEPENDS ON THE MOMENT AND THE TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION. SO YOU SHOWED YOUR VEHICLE WITH A RAMP, BUT IS IT GONNA BE ABLE TO MAKE THOSE TYPE OF DECISIONS DEPENDING ON, YOU KNOW, VARIOUS FACTORS THAT MAY DIFFER FROM WEEK TO WEEK? THAT WAS ONE OF MY QUESTIONS, NOT THE INITIAL, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. I DIDN'T HEAR THE END OF THAT. WHAT WAS THE LAST PART OF THE QUESTION? ARIEL, DID YOU HEAR? I SAID, SO I'LL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE. I WORKED BY THE MOB BULLOCK MUSEUM RIGHT THERE, BUT THEY WERE DOING, UH, CAPITAL AREA RECONSTRUCTION. SO IT KIND OF CHANGED WHAT ACCESSIBILITY AREAS THAT I USUALLY GET ON OVER. AND DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION, I NEEDED THE DRIVER TO MOVE UP SOMEWHERE ELSE. SURE. THAT WAS NORMAL FOR MY AREA TO GET PICKED UP RATHER THAN THAT JUST DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION POINT. AND I KNOW YOU SHOWED A RAMP COMING OUT, BUT LIKE IN MY CASE, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT GONNA BE ACCESSIBLE FOR ME UNTIL I ACTUALLY WALKED UP INTO THE AREA IN WHICH I WAS ABLE TO MISS THE VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY I CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THE DRIVER AND WE WERE WERE ABLE TO TO, TO CORRECT THAT. BUT IF IT WAS AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE, WHAT KIND OF, HOW IS THOSE DECISIONS GONNA BE MADE AT THE POINT, SPECIFICALLY WITH THE PERSON WITH DISABILITIES? THIS IS, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION AND SOMETHING THAT WE ARE VERY MUCH CONSIDERING A LOT RIGHT NOW. LIKE THIS VEHICLE THAT WE ARE SHOWING WITH THE RAMP IS NOT ACTUALLY FEDERALLY ALLOWED TO BE ON THE ROADS, RIGHT? WE'RE WAITING FOR FEDERAL APPROVAL AND WE'RE, WE HAVEN'T, WE'RE NOT ALLOWED TO BUILD THEM YET, RIGHT? LIKE THIS IS, THIS IS, UH, THIS IS NEW DESIGN STUFF. AND SO, UH, OUR DESIGNERS AND OUR ENGINEERS ARE, ARE ACTIVELY THINKING ABOUT PICKUP AND DROP OFF. JUST LIKE HOW YOU SAID, WHAT ABOUT, YOU KNOW, WHAT IF THE PLACE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE, WE'RE, WE'RE THINKING ABOUT SENSORS AROUND THE RAMP, WE'RE THINKING ABOUT CAMERAS LIKE WE CAN SEE OUT THERE, RIGHT? AND WE CAN, WE CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO HAVE YOU COMMUNICATE WITH THE VEHICLE. BUT YES, THAT IS IN PROGRESS AND THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION THAT IS, UH, YOU KNOW, TOP OF MIND FOR A LOT OF FOLKS HERE ON OUR SIDE BECAUSE, UM, IT'S NOT GONNA BE THE SAME AS SOMEBODY WHO IS AMBULATORY CAN JUST HOP IN AND OUT OR WALK DOWN THE STREET OR HOP OVER THE CURB, RIGHT. IF IT'S UNDER CONSTRUCTION. SO, UM, THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION. I HAVE A VIDEO, I DON'T KNOW IF I'M ALLOWED TO SHARE IT IF I HAVE A PERMISSION. SO, OR DO YOU HAVE, SO ACTUALLY BEFORE GO AHEAD. GO AHEAD. JUST, JUST TO ADD ON TO THAT, THIS IS YYA SPEAKING. UM, ANOTHER POINT INTO THE CONVERSATION OF, UH, WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT CURBS AS IT RELATES TO THE RAMP. ALTHOUGH WE ARE REGULATED AT THE STATE LEVEL, THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH THE CITY BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE WILL NEED TO ENGAGE THE CITY TO DETERMINE PICK UP AND DROP OFF AREAS FOR OUR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WILL NEED A RAMP. IT WILL NOT JUST BE ABLE TO PULL UP ANYWHERE LIKE OUR CURRENT VEHICLE IS. SO WE WILL NEED TO ENGAGE THE CITY AT SOME POINT TO DETERMINE WHERE OUR PROPER PICKUP AND DROP OFF AREAS AND FOR THEM TO ADVISE US IF EVEN AFTER THEY'VE DETERMINED THE PROPER DROPOFF OR PICKUP AREA. UM, AND NOW THERE'S CONSTRUCTION THERE. NOW THAT AREA IS NOT A PROPER PICKUP AND DROP OFF AREA, RIGHT? SO THEREIN LIES THE GOOD RELATIONSHIP THAT WE NEED TO MAINTAIN WITH THE CITY SO THAT AS THESE VEHICLES COME TO THIS AREA, WE, WE KNOW WHERE WE CAN DEPLOY THEM, WHERE THEY CAN STOP 'EM WHERE THEY CANNOT. OKAY. THIS IS CHAIR, CHAIR PERSON. FRANKS, I, IT WAS KIND OF A FOLLOW UP QUESTION. YOU KIND OF ANSWERED IT. UM, AUSTIN IS AN EVER CHANGING CITY. UM, NOT ONLY THERE, CONSTRUCTION, NEW BUILDINGS, THERE'S, YOU KNOW, ESPECIALLY WE'RE A COLLEGE TOWN, SO WE HAVE FOOTBALL GAMES, THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS CAMPUS, WE HAVE MARATHONS, WE HAVE THIS AND THIS. SO, UH, KIND OF A QUESTION TO THAT IS HOW OFTEN DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH THE CITY TO UNDERSTAND, UM, WHAT IS GOING ON, UM, IN REGARDS TO CONSTANT CHANGES? AND THEN MY SECOND QUESTION IS MORE RELATED TO WHILE AN INDIVIDUAL IS IN THE VEHICLE, DURING THE TRANSPORTATION ASPECT OF THE TRIP, WHAT SAFETY COMPONENTS ARE THERE? LET'S SAY HYPOTHETICALLY IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE, THE CAR THAT YOU'RE IN, WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN THE VEHICLE? SO, UH, THIS IS YADI SPEAKING AS IT RELATES TO THE, UM, COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE CITY PART. LITERALLY MY JOB IS TO DO EXACTLY THAT, MAINTAIN COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE REGULARLY ENGAGED. I, ON A, ON A, PRETTY MUCH ON A WEEKLY BASIS, I'M HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH NOT JUST THE CITY OF AUSTIN THROUGH THE AV TASK FORCE THAT WAS CREATED MM-HMM , UM, RACHEL IN, IN THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, BUT WITH [00:50:01] T O AND D P S. SO WHETHER IT'S AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENS OR WHETHER IT'S AN UPGRADE TO OUR SOFTWARE OR WHETHER IT IS AN, AN INCREASE TO THE MAP OR TO THE FLEET SIZE OR TO THE HOURS OF OPERATIONS, ALL OF THAT GETS COMMUNICATED OUT. AND THEN THE OTHER WAY TOO, SO AS AN EXAMPLE, UH, WHEN I HAD THE LAST PRESIDENT, THE LAST TRAINING WITH A P D A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, UM, AT THAT TRAINING, ONE OF THE SERGEANTS FOR, UH, THE COMMANDER FOR DOWNTOWN TOLD US THAT, UM, THEIR, UH, CHILD WAS MOVING IN AT, AT UT'S WEST CAMPUS AND MOVE-IN DAYS WERE COMING UP AND WE NEEDED TO BE VERY WEARY OF THAT AREA OF TOWN. MM-HMM. MM-HMM . SO WE WORKED WITH A GENERAL MANAGER, THEY REDUCED THE FLEET SIZE FOR THAT DAY AND FOR THOSE COUPLE OF DAYS. AND THEY ALSO AVOIDED THAT AREA ENTIRELY. SO WHEN WE KNOW THERE'S GOING, LIKE AUSTIN PRIDE IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE. WHEN AUSTIN PRIDE HAPPENED DOWNTOWN, UM, WE AVOIDED THE AREA ENTIRELY. WE CREATED WHAT WE CALL AN AVOIDANCE AREA WHERE OUR VEHICLES DO NOT GO NEAR THERE. AND, UM, WE REDUCE OUR FLEET TO THE QUESTION OF SAFETY, UM, THESE ARE VEHICLES THAT HAVE TO PASS NATIONAL SAFETY, TRANSPORTATION, TRANSPORTATION SAFETY STANDARDS. MM-HMM. . SO THEY HAVE THE FULL, UM, SAFETY FEATURES THAT ANY CHEVY BOLT HAS AND THE ORIGIN WILL HAVE THEM AS WELL. UM, IT ALL, THEY ARE ALSO GM VEHICLES. SO THEY HAVE ONSTAR AND THEY HAVE OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE. SO IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THE VEHICLE, I'LL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE. UM, I RIDE THESE VEHICLES EVERY SINGLE TIME I'M IN MARKET TO SEE HOW THEY'RE, THEY'RE PERFORMING AND EVERY TIME I'M IMPRESSED WITH HOW MUCH BETTER THEY ARE THAN LAST TIME I WAS IN IT. LAST TIME I WAS IN AUSTIN FOR THAT TRAINING, I WAS TAKING A RIDE. I USUALLY FACETIME ONE OF MY FRIENDS BACK IN MIAMI TO SHOW THEM SO THAT THEY CAN SEE WHAT, WHAT, WHAT, UM, WHAT THEY'RE MISSING AND WHAT THEY'RE GONNA BE ABLE TO DO SOON, . AND AS WE'RE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THERE ARE THREE PEOPLE ON THIS CORNER, UH, TO MY RIGHT AND A FULL GROWN MAN. NOT, NOT A, UH, NOT A CHILD, NOT A COLLEGE STUDENT. LIKE SOMEONE IN THEIR FORTIES JUMPS IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND THEN JUMPS BACK INTO THE SIDEWALK AND HE'S LAUGHING, JOKING WITH THESE BUDDIES AND I'M LOOKING AT HIM LIKE, ARE YOU CRAZY ? LIKE YOU WOULD NEVER JUMP IN FRONT OF A HUMAN DRIVER, BUT THEY JUMP IN FRONT OF OUR CARS BECAUSE THEY'RE TESTING THE TECHNOLOGY 'CAUSE IT'S SOMETHING NEW AND IT'S NOVEL AND THEY'RE EXCITED ABOUT IT AND THEY KNOW THE CAR WILL STOP. 'CAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT DID. THE CAR STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE CAME ON AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID, HI, THIS IS SO-AND-SO FROM CRUISE CUSTOMER SERVICE, WE, WE SEE THERE'S BEEN AN INCIDENT. ARE YOU OKAY? ARE YOU SAFE? AND I SAID, YES, MY NAME IS YAEL. I WORK FOR CRUZ X JUST HAPPENED, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. AND THEY SAID, OKAY. AND THE CAR CONTINUED ON IN SPROUT. OKAY. I HAVE A QUICK FOLLOW UP AHEAD. WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS WITHIN THE CAR AS A PASSENGER? LIKE LET'S SAY I HAVE SEIZURES AND I'M PRONE TO SEIZURES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND I'M RIDING THE CAR AND I KNOW WE CAN PICK UP ANY KINDA HYPOTHETICAL, BUT IF AN EMERGENCY HAPPENS WHILE YOU'RE IN TRANSIT TO YOUR DESTINATION, HOW WOULD THAT CAR KNOW THAT THE PASSENGER NEEDS EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE IF THERE'S NO ONE THERE TO, TO RESPOND? THIS IS MICHELLE. OH, GO AHEAD. GO AHEAD. NO, GO AHEAD. I WAS GONNA SAY THAT THERE IS A, A HELP BUTTON IN THE VEHICLE. SO PHYSICALLY YOU CAN, YOU KNOW, PUSH HELP OR YOU CAN CANCEL YOUR RIDE AT ANY TIME IN CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE. ALSO, THERE IS HELP IN THE PHONE, RIGHT IN YOUR PHONE APP. YOU CAN, YOU KNOW, I UNDERSTAND IF YOU'RE HAVING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, THAT MIGHT BE DIFFICULT, BUT THERE IS HELP AVAILABLE. BUT SIMILARLY, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE CAMERAS ON IN THE CAR, RIGHT? WE'RE MONITORING WHAT'S HAPPENING SO WE CAN SEE IF SOMETHING'S GOING WRONG AND UH, YOU KNOW, WE WILL KNOW. SO THAT'S THE BEAUTY. I THINK, YOU KNOW, THE DRIVER, A DRI REGULAR UBER OR LYFT OR WHATEVER, THEY'RE FOOT FACING FORWARD, RIGHT? OUR CAMERAS ARE LOOKING AT YOU ALSO, RIGHT, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. SO I THINK THAT'S A, A NICE ADDED PERK. THIS IS YALA. I WOULD ADD TO THAT, THAT RECORDING OF AUDIO IS ONLY HAPPENING WHEN A CUSTOMER SERVICE, UM, INCIDENT HAS BEEN TRIGGERED. SO, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE CAMERAS AND AUDIO AT ALL TIMES, AUDIO IS ONLY TRIGGERED FOR RECORDING WHEN THERE IS A CUSTOMER SERVICE LINK HAPPENING, MEANING THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE COME ON. UM, SO THEY'RE NOT, UH, RECORDING YOUR CONVERSATIONS WHILE YOU'RE IN THE BACKSEAT OF THAT CAR. UM, I WOULD ALSO SAY TO THAT, UH, THAT ONE OF THE COMMON THINGS THAT WE'VE SEEN ARE PEOPLE FALLING ASLEEP IN THE BACK OF OUR CARS, RIGHT? MM-HMM. BECAUSE THEY'RE COMFORTABLE, THEY'RE LATE, IT'S LATE, THEY'VE BEEN DRINKING, AND THEY KIND OF JUST FALL ASLEEP TO HOW COMFORTABLE THE RIDE IS. , UM, ACROSS, AT THE END OF THE RIDE, IF THEY HAVEN'T GOTTEN OUT, OUR REMOTE ASSISTANTS WILL LOOK AROUND AND SAY, WHOA, WHAT'S GOING ON? AND THEY'LL POLITELY START TO TRY TO WAKE THAT PERSON UP THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. CAN I ASK A QUESTION ABOUT THAT PROCESS? GO AHEAD, COMMISSIONER POWELL. YEAH. UH, I WAS JUST WONDERING, LIKE, WHAT, WHAT IS THE PROCESS THERE? IF YOU DID HAVE SOMEBODY WHO HAD A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, FOR INSTANCE, A STROKE OR A HEART ATTACK, AND DID NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR WHEN THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO OR HAD A SEIZURE AND WAS NOT CONSCIOUS WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT [00:55:01] THEIR DESTINATION, WHAT IT DO YOU HAVE LIVE PEOPLE WATCHING 24 HOURS A DAY THAT MIGHT SEE THAT THE PERSON IS IN DISTRESS? AND IS THERE A PROTOCOL FOR CALLING E M S OR WHAT DO YOU DO? LIKE, SO I, I WOULD LIKE TO GET A BETTER RESPONSE FOR YOU. 'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SAY, I DON'T KNOW, AND JUST LEAVE IT AT THAT. LET ME GET A BETTER RESPONSE FOR YOU. WHAT I WILL SAY, FROM THE ONE EXPERIENCE THAT WE'VE HAD WHERE WE WERE INVOLVED IN A CAR CRASH IN ANOTHER CITY, NOT IN, UH, IN SAN FRANCISCO SPECIFICALLY, IT WAS IN THE NEWS, UM, IMMEDIATELY FIRE RESCUE OR E M SS, DEPENDING ON THE MARKET, IS CONTACTED FOR, FOR SOMEONE TO RESPOND. SO TO YOUR POINT OF MONITORING, THERE IS NOT SOMEONE 24 7 MONITORING EVERY SINGLE CAMERA ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. RIGHT? THOSE ARE USUALLY TRIGGERED BASED ON INSTANCES LIKE, YOU'VE ARRIVED AT YOUR DESTINATION, BUT YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN OUT. RIGHT? YEAH. SO LET ME GET MORE INFORMATION, AND I'LL FOLLOW UP WITH YOU. HANNAH'S TAKING NOTES. SO, UH, SHE'LL ADD THIS AS ONE OF THE THINGS FOR ME TO FOLLOW UP ON. AND I, I THINK THAT'S IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER. IT'S JUST, IT'S, UH, IT'S PROBABLY AN INEVITABILITY THAT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY HAPPENED. SO THANK YOU FOR TAKING IT INTO CONSIDERATION. YEAH, OF COURSE. THAT'S EXACTLY WHY WE WANNA HAVE THESE CONVERSATIONS. THIS IS Y Y SPEAKING AGAIN, BECAUSE EVERY TIME WE HAVE THESE CONVERSATIONS, WE LEARN SOMETHING THAT WE DIDN'T, I, I WAS AT A, A PANEL DISCUSSION IN LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND SOMEONE ASKED ME, UH, IF WE ARE CATEGORIZING MIGRATORY BIRDS SEPARATELY FROM JUST OBJECTS THAT WE'RE SEEING ON THE ROAD, BECAUSE OUR CITIES THAT WE'RE LAUNCHING ARE RIGHT ALONG THE PATH OF MIGRATORY BIRDS. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. INTERESTING. OH, THAT'S REALLY INTERESTING. YEAH. I, I KNOW WHO, WHO. WOW, THAT'S REALLY COOL. YEAH, I WAS GONNA ADD, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. WE, WE RECENTLY HAD A, A WHOLE A COMMUNITY EVENT INVITING A LOT OF FOLKS WITH DIFFERENT DISABILITIES, AND, YOU KNOW, THE S THE SERVICE ANIMAL TOPIC CAME UP LIKE, HOW ARE WE ALSO GONNA LIKE, SECURE THE SERVICE ANIMAL? NOT, WELL, YOU KNOW, YOU SEATBELT THE PERSON, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DOG? RIGHT? AND SO NOW OUR ENGINEERS ARE LIKE, HARD AT WORK ON LIKE, HOW TO SECURE THE SERVICE. IT'S, IT'S REALLY COOL. SO LIKE, WE REALLY DO ENJOY HAVING THESE CONVERSATIONS AND BRINGING, YOU KNOW, BRINGING ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES INTO THE MIX, BECAUSE WE ULTIMATELY WANNA HAVE A SERVICE THAT SERVES EVERYONE. UM, I AM READY WITH THE VIDEO IF Y'ALL HAVE A, HAVE A MOMENT. YES, I THINK WE HAVE. OKAY. LET'S WATCH THAT. TWO MORE QUESTIONS. MOVING ON. SHARE. I JUST HAVE A SHARE. I JUST HAVE A REALLY QUICK QUESTION. UM, FIRST OF ALL, I WANNA SAY THAT I'M REALLY, REALLY EXCITED AS A BLIND PERSON ABOUT THIS TECHNOLOGY. AND, UM, I'M HOPING THAT IT WILL REALLY CHANGE MY LIFE AND MY KIDS' LIVES. UM, IS THERE A WAY I'M WONDERING THAT IF THERE IS A WAY IN THE APP TO SELF-DISCLOSE A DISABILITY, SO SUCH AS IF A PERSON IS DEAF OR, UM, SOMETHING LIKE THAT, AND MAYBE THOSE CAN BE A LITTLE BIT MORE CLOSELY MONITORED, OR JUST SO THE PERSON, LIKE, SO THAT IT'S FLAGGED THAT IF THERE IS AN INCIDENT THAT IT AUTOMATICALLY POPS UP AS, HEY, THE PERSON IN THE CAR IS DEAF, OR THE PERSON IN THE CAR IS BLIND IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. SURE. SPEAKING. THANKS FOR THAT QUESTION. UM, CURRENTLY WE, WE'VE BEEN LIKE GOING BACK AND FORTH AND, AND ON THE INTERNAL SIDE OF LIKE, DO WE WANNA BE COLLECTING PEOPLE'S PRIVATE INFORMATION? BUT WE DO KNOW, WELL, IT WOULD JUST BE LIKE A SELF-DISCLOSED, LIKE, IF YOU WANNA EXACTLY. SO WE WERE THINKING ABOUT THAT, BUT ALSO CURRENTLY WHAT WE DO HAVE IS LIKE, YOU CAN TURN ON THE VOICEOVER TECHNOLOGY FEATURE. YOU CAN TURN ON THE R T T FEATURE OF YOUR DECK, OR HARD OF HEARING. SO WE DO KNOW LIKE, OKAY, THIS PROFILE HAS THESE FEATURES TURNED ON INDICATING OKAY, THAT THEY MIGHT NEED THESE ACCESS FEATURES, BUT WE'RE WORKING TOWARDS POTENTIALLY SELF-DISCLOSING. WE JUST, WE'RE NOT, WE'RE NOT THERE YET. BUT THAT IS, THAT'S A GREAT FLAG. YEAH. AND, UM, AND I ALSO WANTED TO COMMEND YOU FOR STARTING OUT WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES FROM THE GET GO AND JUST KIND OF TRYING TO, UM, ENCOMPASS THIS IDEA OF UNIVERSAL DESIGN. BECAUSE OFTEN PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE JUST LIKE, OKAY, WE DESIGNED THIS. OKAY, NOW, NOW WE'RE GONNA THINK ABOUT HOW WE'RE GONNA FIT YOU IN. AND YOU'RE JUST UNIVERSALLY DESIGNING YOUR, UM, YOUR CARS. AND I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. WELL, THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT. THIS, MICHELLE SPEAKING, THIS IS WHY I ACTUALLY WORK HERE, BECAUSE I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO MEET THE TEAM AND THE LEADERSHIP BEHIND THIS BECAUSE THEY, IT'S NOT JUST LIKE A CHECKING THE BOX THING. LIKE, I REALLY HONESTLY FEEL THAT, YOU KNOW, THE, ALL THE, THE TEAM MEMBERS WHO ARE BUILDING THE CARS AND BUILDING THE SOFTWARE AND EVERYTHING AND THE FEATURES, THEY, THEY'RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE FEEDBACK AND THEY REALLY DO TAKE THIS TO HEART. SO YEAH, DEFINITELY APPRECIATE THAT PART FOR MYSELF AS A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY. RIGHT. SO, UM, LET ME, LET ME PLAY THE VIDEO AND THEN WE CAN, WE CAN CHAT AFTER. UH, LEMME JUST, UH, ASK ONE REAL MORE QUICK QUESTION. SORRY TO FOR THE KEEP, UH, THE INTERRUPTION, BUT, UH, THIS IS CHAIRPERSON FRANKS, I REMEMBER Y'ALL SPEAKING LAST YEAR, THE NATIONAL FEDER OF THE BLIND CONVENTION. I, I WANNA THANK YOU. UM, IT WAS A REALLY AWESOME PRESENTATION. UM, SO I WANNA THANK YOU FOR, FIRST OF ALL FOR SPEAKING TO OUR GROUP. UM, AS A MEMBER OF THE BLIND COMMUNITY, I, ONE OF MY CONCERNS IS FAIL SAFE TECHNOLOGY IS NOT PERFECT. TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. 100% OF THE TIMES SOLEMA GAVE A HYPOTHETICAL [01:00:01] SITUATION. IF THERE'S A BLIND RIDER IN THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE'S TECHNOLOGY FAILS, WHAT KIND OF FAIL STUFF, FAIL SAFE OPTIONS, ARE THERE BEING IMPLEMENTED INTO THAT? LET'S SAY THE VEHICLE IS MID TRIP AND IT JUST AUTOMATICALLY STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, YOU KNOW, OR HOW, WHAT IS, WHAT ARE THE FAIL SAFE MEASURES PUT IN PLACE FOR THAT? THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. I WOULD SAY LIKE CUST, THE, THE CUSTOMER SUCCESS OR CUSTOM SUPPORT WOULD IMMEDIATELY, YOU KNOW, COME ON JUST LIKE ONSTAR WOULD AS WELL. SO, UM, WE'RE ALWAYS MONITORING, LIKE I SAID, ANY IN, LIKE ARIEL WAS TALKING TO YOU, LIKE INCIDENTS. IF THE CAR, ANYTHING STOPS OR ANYTHING HAPPENS, THE FAIL SAFE IS THAT PEOPLE ARE, ARE THERE, RIGHT? IT'S NOT JUST A ROBOT. AND, YOU KNOW, WE, WE ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT MORE ACCESSIBLE, MORE LIKE CONVENIENT AND ALSO MORE AFFORDABLE FOR FOLKS, RIGHT? IF YOU TAKE THE DRIVER OUT OF THE CONCLUSION, YOU DON'T HAVE TO TIP THEM. AND THAT'S NICE, RIGHT? YOU SAVE A LITTLE MONEY THERE MM-HMM. . UM, SO YES, WE'RE ALWAYS ALL WORRIED ABOUT, YOU KNOW, BACKUPS AND FAIL SAFES AS WELL. SO DEFINITELY A CONCERN, BUT WE, IT WOULD, IT WOULD BE THE SAME FOR AS A BLIND RIDER, AS AS ANYONE ELSE. IF SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN, I WOULD SAY MM-HMM. , ARI, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD. ALL RIGHT, I GOT THE VIDEO. I REALLY WANNA SHOW IT Y'ALL VIDEO. YOU WANNA WATCH IT AND YOU WANNA SEE IT AND HEAR IT, SO I PROMISE. OKAY, HERE WE GO. LEMME GO FOR IT. LEMME KNOW IF THE AUDIO COMES THROUGH. I'M NOT HEARING ANY AUDIO. EITHER WAY. IT'S NOT, YOU HAVE TO TURN OFF YOUR, LIKE GET OUT OF THE VIDEO AND THEN WHEN YOU GO TO SHARE IT, CLICK THE SHARE AUDIO. THERE, THERE SHOULD BE A LITTLE BUTTON THAT SAYS SHARE AUDIO. YEAH. CLICK THAT. IT SAYS STOP SHARING. OKAY. YEAH. AND THEN WHEN YOU RE-SHARE, LOOK FOR A LITTLE BUTTON THAT SAYS SHARE AUDIO. MM-HMM. . OKAY. UM, I'M IN THE SCREEN. DO I SHARE THE TAB OR THE ENTIRE SCREEN? THAT DOESN'T MATTER, RIGHT? NO, JUST WHENEVER YOU CLICK SHARE SCREEN, LOOK FOR THE LITTLE, THERE'S A LITTLE BOX THAT'LL SAY SHARE AUDIO. MM-HMM. . HMM. I DON'T SEE IT. ARIEL, CAN I SEND YOU THIS LINK? AND YOU TRY. SORRY Y'ALL. THIS IS NOT, IT'S ALL RIGHT. NO, IT'S OKAY. TECHNOLOGY IS HARD. YEAH, I DON'T LOVE IT. DON'T LOVE I WAS A TEACHER DURING THE PANDEMIC, SO I KNOW ALL THE THINGS. . LET ME, LET ME SEND IT TO YOU, ARIEL. I'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE. HERE, HERE WE GO. OKAY. SEE IF IT WORKS FOR YOU. 'CAUSE I DON'T SEE A BUTTON THAT POPS UP THAT SAYS SHARE AUDIO. MAYBE I'M MISSING IT. THAT'S WHY THERE'S CAPTIONS. SEE THAT. THIS IS COMMISSIONER RAMIREZ. I HAD A QUESTION WHILE Y'ALL WERE WORKING OUT. SURE, YEAH. COMPUTERS, UM, AS FAR, YOU'VE BEEN TALKING A LOT ABOUT PASSENGERS, UM, OF CRUISE VEHICLES. JUST WANTED TO CHECK HOW THE VEHICLES ARE RESPONDING TO PEDESTRIANS WITH DIFFERENT DISABILITIES. ABSOLUTELY. THAT IS, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING. THAT IS A QUESTION WE GET A LOT. UM, IN ADDITION TO, YOU KNOW, SCANNING FOR JUST ABLE-BODIED, YOU KNOW, NON-DISABLED FOLKS, WE, WE ARE, WE'RE SCANNING THE ENTIRE, YOU KNOW, UH, RANGE OF, OF PEDESTRIANS AND WE HAVE MODELS WITH WHEELCHAIR USERS AND DIFFERENT MOBILITY AIDS AS WELL AS, YOU KNOW, WITH GUIDE DOGS AS WELL AS, YOU KNOW, WE'RE RUNNING ALL SORTS OF SIMULATIONS ON THE BACKEND. AND I'VE BROUGHT IT UP TO THE ENGINEERS TOO. I ASKED THE SAME QUESTION. I WAS LIKE, HEY, DAY ONE, WHEN I FIRST STARTED WORKING HERE, I WAS LIKE, WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH THE PEDESTRIANS WITH DISABILITIES? AND THEY'RE LIKE, HEY, WE ALREADY GOT YOU. YOU KNOW, WE ALREADY HAVE MODELS AND THINGS. I WAS LIKE, COOL YOU THEN. SO I MEAN, I FEEL REASSURED 'CAUSE I ALSO, I'VE ACTUALLY CROSSED THE STREET IN CHICAGO IN MY WHEELCHAIR AND BEEN HIT BY AN SS U V. SO THIS IS SOMETHING TOP OF MIND FOR ME, LIKE WHO HITS A PERSON IN A WHEELCHAIR WHILE CROSSING THE STREET. AND APPARENTLY PEOPLE DO. AND, UH, WE WILL NOT . SO THAT IS, THAT IS REASSURING TO ME, UH, IN MY, IN MY LIFE. BUT, UM, HOW ARE WE DOING ON THE, ON THE VIDEO? ANYONE, ANY UPDATES? , ARIELLE? OR MAYBE WE CAN SEND IT TO HANNAH IF IT DOESN'T WORK. YOU CAN SHARE THE VIDEO AND THEY CAN GET DISPERSED TO US AND WE CAN WATCH IT. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, BECAUSE WE HAVE OTHER, WE HAVE ABOUT 26 MINUTES LEFT OF THE MEETING. WELL, NO, MY BAD. OKAY. WE'RE TAKING UP THE . SORRY. NO WORRIES. NO WORRIES. UM, AND I BELIEVE I HEARD IT'S IN THE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION COMM, UM, JACQUELINE, IS THAT CORRECT? WELL, IF NOT, WE'LL GET IT TO YOU. THAT'S OKAY. SORRY. BUT LAST THING I WILL SAY, THIS IS MICHELLE SPEAKING AGAIN, IS WE'RE HAVING AN EVENT ON THE 14TH, SO NEXT WEEK, UM, IN PERSON, BUT ALSO A LIVESTREAM OPPORTUNITY WITH LIKE ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES SO EVERYONE CAN EXPERIENCE IT. BUT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A LIVESTREAM EVENT WHERE WE'RE UNVEILING THE FIRST PROTOTYPE OF THE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE. IT'S, IT'S REALLY EXCITING, REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT'S THE FIRST ONE THAT'S COME OFF THE LINE IN, AT GM FACTORY. WE'RE WORKING WITH BIL, YOU [01:05:01] KNOW, LEADER IN, IN WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLES AND, AND CREWS. SO IT'S KIND OF A GREAT BEAUTIFUL MOMENT THAT I'M, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR AND I'M EXCITED FOR TO SEE THE FIRST ONE THAT'S, YOU KNOW, AVAILABLE FOR USER TESTING AND CLOSED COURSE TESTING AND ALL OF THAT. SO, UM, WOULD LOVE FOR Y'ALL TO, TO JOIN. WE'LL SEND YOU MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO SIGN UP. UM, BUT YEAH, IT'S GONNA BE A MOMENTOUS OCCASION AND I'M, I'M JUST REALLY HAPPY TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD AND WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO, IF YOU WANT TO SHARE IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, OR YOUR NETWORKS, JUST TO GET PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO EXIST. AND SO COOL. , IS ONE OF THOSE GONNA BE AVAILABLE FOR THE AUSTIN AREA TO TEST OUT DETROIT? THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION. I WILL LEAVE THE R E L FOR THAT ONE. . UH, WE, WE DON'T HAVE THAT INFORMATION RIGHT NOW THAT WE CAN SHARE OUT. UH, WE ARE PUSHING FOR THAT TO BE THE CASE, BUT WE, UH, WE DON'T HAVE INFORMATION WE CAN SHARE ON THAT RIGHT NOW. THAT'S, THE VIDEO THAT YOU HAVE ON THE SCREEN RIGHT NOW IS NOT IT. THIS IS A VIDEO OF, UM, THE FULLY AUTONOMOUS DRIVING, AND THEN IT'S A GUIDE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE LINK THAT I SENT FOR THE PRESENTATION, UM, LATER ON, IF YOU DO THAT, UM, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT RIGHT NOW. YOU'LL HAVE THAT, UH, THAT VIDEO IN THE, UH, 'CAUSE WHAT I SENT WAS A LINK TO A GOOGLE DRIVE IN THAT GOOGLE DRIVE. THE UPDATED PRESENTATION HAS MICHELLE'S, UH, MICHELLE'S, UM, VIDEO IN IT. BUT I KNOW WE'VE TAKEN LITERALLY ALMOST AN HOUR OF YOUR TIME WHEN WE MET. NO, DON'T, DON'T, DON'T APOLOGIZE. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PROJECT AND WE DEFINITELY APPRECIATE YOUR TIME. UM, SO I HAVE TO ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. OTHERWISE, WE WILL JUST, UH, BOW OUT. UM, BECAUSE I DON'T WANNA TAKE UP THE WHOLE MEETING. WE HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS AND STUFF FOR YOU WHERE I COULD I EMAIL YOU SOME MORE QUESTIONS? YEAH, I WAS JUST GONNA SUGGEST THAT IF YOU CAN PROVIDE CONTACT INFORMATION SO THAT IF ANY OF OUR COMMISSIONERS HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, UM, SO THAT WE CAN, UH, DEFINITELY KEEP IN COMMUNICATION. 'CAUSE THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. STAFF DOES HAVE MY CONTACT INFO. I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR TIME, ESPECIALLY ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON. YEAH. FRIDAY AFTERNOON. HAPPY WEEKEND, EVERYONE. THIS IS SHOW HAPPY SHOW. THANK YOU. LIKE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION. AWESOME. THANK YOU. BYE. BYE-BYE. ALL RIGHT. SO THAT WAS A GREAT PRESENTATION. UH, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR QUESTIONS. UH, DEFINITELY. IT'S, UH, I'VE SURE FOR MEMBERS OF REPRESENTING DIFFERENT D DISABILITY COMMUN COMMUNITIES, THERE ARE CONCERNS, UM, DIRECTLY OF AFFECTING YOUR PARTICULAR POPULATION OR POPULATION YOU WORK WITH. SO NEXT WE'RE [4. Discussion and possible action to establish a working group to review music venues and entertainment venues in Austin for improvements for people with disabilities.] GONNA MOVE ON TO ESTABLISHING A WORK GROUP FOR, UM, REVIEWING MU MUSIC VENUES FOR ACCESSIBILITY. I KNOW, UH, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR HAD, UH, MENTIONED POSSIBLY WANTING TO WORK ON THAT, IF I AM CORRECT. THAT'S CORRECT. AND, UM, I WAS ONE, I ACTUALLY, UM, ATTENDED A CONCERT, UH, THIS PAST WEEK AND WANTED TO COMMEND, UM, THE ROMANIA AMPHITHEATER FOR THEIR ACCESSIBILITY, UM, ACCOMMODATION. SO DEFINITELY I WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THIS GROUP, UM, WITH YOU, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR. IS THERE ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL IN THIS COMMITTEE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SERVE ON THIS WORKING GROUP? SO I BELIEVE WE HAVE TO TAKE A VOTE ON THIS. I AM UNSURE OF THIS PROTOCOL. UH, JACQUELINE, I'M, I'M SORRY. COULD YOU, YOU GO FOR IT. OKAY. SO IF SOMEONE COULD MAKE A MOTION FOR COMMISSIONER SALAZAR AND MYSELF TO SERVE ON THIS COM, UH, WORKING GROUP, UH, PLEASE. I ENTER OPEN THE FLOOR FOR A MOTION. I'LL MAKE A MOTION, AND I'LL JUST SAY, IF YOU NEED MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE, I'LL HELP OUT. IT'S COMMISSIONER POWELL. OH, GREAT. OKAY. SO THEN WE'LL ADD COMMISSIONER POWELL, UH, WHEN YOU'RE ABLE . YEAH, I KNOW. I GET, I'VE GOT A COUPLE THINGS GOING ON, BUT, UM, YEAH. YEAH. BUT WE COULD, I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG MUSIC FAN AND I, I KNOW THAT WE'RE WORKING REALLY HARD TO GET EVERYTHING ACCESSIBLE MM-HMM. FOR PEOPLE. SO IT, IT'S AN INTERESTING, UH, IT'S AN INTERESTING PROJECT FOR ME. SO IF YOU GUYS NEED HELP, BUT I'D MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THAT. I SECOND ALL RIGHT. HAS MOVED AND SECONDED. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? HEARING NONE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. UH, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR SALAZAR, EXCUSE ME. AND COMMISSIONER POWELL, LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU ON THIS. 'CAUSE I'M AN AVID MUSIC FAN MYSELF, SO, UM, DEFINITELY WANNA PROVE THE MUSIC EXPERIENCE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN AUSTIN. [01:10:11] UH, LOOKS LIKE [5. Discussion and possible action to establish a working group to discuss safety and accessibility for people with Disabilities on Austin’s public transportation system.] THERE'S A DISCUSSION ACTION ITEM TO ESTABLISH ANOTHER WORKING GROUP REGARDING, UH, REGARDING AUSTIN'S PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. SO, YEAH, THAT, THAT WAS, UM, THAT WAS ME THAT PUT THAT ON THE AGENDA. UH, OKAY. A FEW MEETINGS AGO, I'VE NOTICED THAT AS A PUBLIC TRANSIT UNIT USER MYSELF, THAT, UM, PUBLIC SAFETY HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ME LATELY. AND, UM, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE USING THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM. AND BECAUSE WE ARE USING THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM, WE ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE OUT WALKING ON THE STREETS AND STANDING AND WAITING. AND SO WE'RE MORE IN THE OPEN AND MORE VULNERABLE. UM, AND I'VE JUST NOTICED THAT JUST IN GENERAL, MY WELLBEING AND MY FEELING OF SAFETY HAS GONE DOWN A LOT. AND OTHER PEOPLE THAT I'VE TALKED TO HAVE FELT THAT WAY TOO. AND I WANT, UM, I WANT AUSTIN TO BE A SAFE CITY FOR US TO RIDE IN. SO, AND, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT 'CAUSE IT HELPS EVERYONE, RIGHT? LIKE IT HELPS ANYBODY THAT IS RIDING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. I WOULD IS YOUR CONCERN GENERALLY FOR PUBLIC SAFETY JUST BEING OUT AND ABOUT IN AUSTIN, BECAUSE THAT HAS DETERIORATED A LOT THAT, THAT YES, I HAVE, I HAVE TWO CONCERNS. JUST BEING OUT AND ABOUT ON THE STREETS OF AUSTIN HAS DETERIORATED, AND ALSO SPECIFICALLY ON CAP METRO. UM, I'VE HAD TO RECENTLY GET OFF OF BUSES BEFORE IT WAS MY STOP BECAUSE I FELT THREATENED. I'VE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE. UM, I NOW CARRY PEPPER SPRAY WITH ME. UM, SO YEAH, AWFUL. IT'S BEEN, IT'S, IT'S BEEN A, IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM THE LAST SIX MONTHS TO A YEAR. DEFINITELY WANT TO, UM, OFFER THOUGHTS, UM, TOWARDS THAT. UM, IT'S CAN BE A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. ALSO, I WOULD LIKE TO COMMENT ON THAT AS WELL. AS SOMEONE WHO WAS BLIND MYSELF UTILIZING CAB METRO, IT IS DIFFICULT TO, WHEN YOU'RE DROPPED OFF AT THE WRONG STOP. UH, THIS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. I WAS DROPPED OFF AT A STOP PRIOR TO THE STOP I REQUESTED. UM, THE DRIVERS DON'T ALWAYS KNOW SPECIFIC SMALLER POPULATION ASPECTS, OR LET ME CLARIFY, IF IT'S NOT LIKE A MAIN STOP THAT IS ANNOUNCED ON THE BUS, LET'S SAY IT'S A CERTAIN BUS STOP. UM, I HAD TO WALK. I WAS, I HAD NO IDEA WHERE I WAS. I WAS IN THE RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY. UM, NO ONE WAS AROUND. I HAD, THANKFULLY, I HAD SOME APPS WITH ME THAT COULD HELP, BUT I HAD TO WALK ABOUT HALF A MILE UP THE STREET WITH NO SIDEWALKS IN ORDER TO FIND WHERE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DROPPED OFF, WHICH IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. AND A LOT OF IT DIDN'T HAVE SIDEWALKS. SO THAT IS A ANOTHER CONCERN OF MY PARTICULAR DISABILITY. UM, AND, AND ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES OR PHYSICAL DISABILITIES JUST BEING DROPPED OFF IN AN AREA WHERE THERE'S NO SIDEWALKS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT CONCERN FOR AUSTIN AS LONG AS I'VE LIVED HERE. AND THAT'S NEARLY 20 YEARS. SO, DO WE WANNA, UH, CREATE ANOTHER WORK GROUP OR DO WE WANNA ROLL, ROLL IT INTO THE ACCESSIBILITY WORK GROUP THAT WE JUST ESTABLISHED IN GENERAL? WELL, NO, WE WANNA CREATE ANOTHER WORK GROUP BECAUSE THIS ONE WOULD BE SPECIFICALLY FOR PUBLIC SAFETY, ESPECIALLY FOCUSED ON TRANSPORTATION. YES. THE OTHER ONE WOULD BE TO CREATE ACCESSIBILITY AT MUSIC VENUES. SO, OKAY. SO DO WE WANT IN THE TRANSPORTATION WORK GROUP, OR DO WE WANT IN THE SAFETY WORK GROUP? YEAH. SO WE'D WANNA MOVE TO, UH, CREATE A, A SECOND WORK GROUP. AND THESE CAN BE, ANYBODY CAN BE ON A WORK GROUP. IT JUST HAS TO BE, IT HAS TO BE LESS THAN QUORUM. MM-HMM. WHAT I'M SAYING. THEY CAN HAVE AS MANY PEOPLE AS THEY WANT. DO WE WANT IT AS A TRANSPORTATION OR PUBLIC SAFETY? PUBLIC SAFETY ON TRANSPORTATION? IS THAT CORRECT? VICE CHAIR? IS THAT HOW YOU WANT TO WORD IT? UM, YEAH, THAT, THAT WOULD BE FINE TOO. OKAY. THAT WOULD BE FINE. UH, BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, UM, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR, I DON'T SEE WHY SOME ASPECTS OF THE MUSIC VENUES AND TRANSPORTATION TO THOSE MUSIC VENUES AND SAFETY COULD NOT BE COLLABORATIVE. SO IF THAT ISSUE EVER COMES UP, WE COULD, UM, WORK TOGETHER. UM, IN RE REGARDS TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND TRANSPORTATION TO THOSE MUSIC VENUES. WELL, AND I COULD SEE WHERE TRANSPORTATION [01:15:01] WOULD IMPACT A LOT OF DIFFERENT AREAS. UM, BECAUSE MANY OF US ARE PUBLIC TRANSIT USERS BECAUSE OF OUR DISABILITIES, WE CANNOT DRIVE. RIGHT. UM, SO I COULD SEE WHERE IT WOULD IMPACT MANY DIFFERENT THINGS. IT'S, FOR EXAMPLE, UH, WHEN I WENT TO THE CONCERT THE OTHER DAY, I HAD TO WALK WITH, UH, A STAFF MEMBER. IT FELT LIKE HALF A MILE TO THE RIDESHARE TRANSPORTATION AREA, WHERE AS A PERSON WHO WAS BLIND, I CANNOT WALK THERE BY MYSELF. I WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE. SO THAT, UM, WOULD DEFINITELY BE SOME, AN AREA WHERE WE COULD COLLABORATE. SO IN REGARDS TO THIS, THE LANGUAGE IS, IT'S A WORKING GROUP FOR, UH, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN REGARDS TO WHAT VICE CHAIR, UM, IS REQUESTING. SO, UM, OPENING THE FLOOR FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORKING GROUP. ONE MORE QUICK THING. UM, IT MIGHT, IT MIGHT JUST BE EXPEDITIOUS. I DON'T KNOW HOW, IF IT, IF IT WORKS WELL WITH THE AGENDA. EVERYTHING JUST TO CREATE A WORK GROUP ON TRANSPORTATION AND HAVE OUR FIRST FOCUS BE ON PUBLIC, UH, PUBLIC SAFETY. UM, BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE CAN BE MANY DIFFERENT ISSUES REGARDING TRANSPORTATION. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? YES. SO IS THAT OKAY TO, IS THAT OKAY TO DO, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T SPECIFICALLY SAY LIKE, TRANSPORTATION ON THE AGENDA? IF WE CAN JUST CREATE A GENERAL TRANSPORTATION WORK GROUP? WELL, WE CAN, WE CAN JUST MAKE A MOTION AND GET IT DEVOTED ON CANTON. YES. AND IT DOES SAY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WITHIN THE LANGUAGE OKAY. OF THE AGENDA. SO IT, IT, IT DOES REVOLVE AROUND TRANSPORTATION. OKAY. THEN, UM, THEN I MAKE A MOTION THAT WE CREATE A, UM, WORK GROUP AROUND THE AREA OF TRANSPORTATION TO INCLUDE PUBLIC SAFETY AS WELL AS OTHER THINGS. I SECOND OKAY. HAS MOVED AND SECONDED. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OKAY. UM, CAN WE ADD, JUST FOR CLARIFICATION PURPOSES, CAN WE ADD MEMBERS AS WELL DURING THIS AGENDA TOPIC, JACQUELYN, BECAUSE IT SAYS TO ESTABLISH, BUT CAN WE ADD MEMBERS OR WOULD THAT BE, HAVE TO BE A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM? NO, YOU CAN ADD MEMBERS. OKAY. UM, WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO SERVE ON THIS COMMISSION? I'LL GO AHEAD AND SERVE ON THIS COMMISSION TOO. 'CAUSE WE CAN DO THE NEW WOULD. I WOULD. OKAY. SO VICE CHAIR MEYER, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR, ANYONE ELSE? THIS IS COMMISSIONER RAMIREZ. I'D BEEN INTERESTED IN SERVING AS WELL. RAMIREZ. OKAY. ANYBODY ELSE? AND I'D LIKE TO SERVE ON THIS, UM, COMMISSION AS WELL, UH, THIS WORKING GROUP AS WELL. SO THAT'LL MAKE FOUR. SO WE, IF ANY, IF WE CAN ADD A, A FIFTH MEMBER, UM, IN THE FUTURE, UM, IF NO ONE ELSE SPEAKS UP TONIGHT, CAN CAN WE PUT THAT, CREATE THE, WHOEVER PRESENTED TO US BEFORE, JUST SO WE CAN KEEP TABS ON THAT TO SEE IF THEY DO GO FORWARD WHEN THEY PRESENT THEIR NEW PROTOCOLS AND, AND TECHNOLOGIES? JUST SO WE HAVE YEAH, HE'S GOING TO, HE PROVIDED HIS, THE, HIS CONTACT INFORMATION AND UH, UM, JACQUELINE WILL CIRCULATE IT AMONGST THE COMMISSION. YEAH. BUT WE CAN PUT THAT AS A, LIKE, WITHIN THE WORK GROUP JUST TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT AS WELL. YEAH. YEAH. THAT'S SOMETHING THAT, UM, CAN BE DISCUSSED AT, UH, UM, DURING, UH, ONE OF THE WORKING GROUP MEETINGS. UM, JUST KIND OF ONCE YOU ESTABLISH IT, THEN ESTABLISH A MEETING LOCATION WHERE, WHERE WE COULD ALL MEET AND THEN, UH, WE COULD, YOU KNOW, SET OUT LIKE AN AGENDA AND UM, LIKE AN ACTION PLAN OF WHAT WE WANNA DO. BUT I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE THAT IF THERE'S ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO SPEAK UP, UM, TO JOIN ONE, WE COULD USE ONE MORE PERSON. IF SO, SPEAK UP NOW FOREVER. HOLD YOU PEACE . AND, UM, WHO WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE OF LIKE, MAKING THE GROUP EMAIL LIST OR HOW ARE WE GONNA COMMUNICATE, UM, SINCE THIS IS WAS YOUR AGENDA TOPIC? UH, VICE CHAIR. YEAH. UM, YOU, I'LL LET YOU, YOU'LL TAKE THE LEAD ON THIS IF YOU WANT TO. YEAH, I WILL. OKAY. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT. HEARING NO OTHER, UH, IS THERE ANYONE ELSE LAST CALL? I JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU GUYS THAT IN A WORKING GROUP, UH, YOU'RE NOT SUBJECT TO OPEN MEETINGS RULES IN A WORKING GROUP. SINCE YOU'RE NOT MAKING QUORUM, YOU GUYS CAN COMMUNICATE THROUGH TEXT MESSAGE. YOU GUYS CAN GO TO A COFFEE SHOP. YEAH. UM, WORK WORKING GROUPS CAN CONDUCT THEMSELVES COMPLETELY HOWEVER YOU WANT, BASICALLY. YES. AND I BELIEVE IF I READ THIS CORRECTLY, WE CAN ALSO ADD MEMBERS OUTSIDE OF THE COMMISSION, BUT I HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK THE LANGUAGE OF OUR BYLAWS, UM, IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE ELSE. BUT LET ME DOUBLE CHECK THE BYLAWS AND THEN WE CAN, UH, COMMUNICATE THAT. BUT FIRST, LET'S, UH, MAKE THIS ANOTHER, [01:20:01] UM, ANOTHER MOTION. SO I'M JUST GONNA REPEAT THE NAMES CHAIR. JONATHAN FRANKS, VICE ELIZABETH MEYER, COMMISSIONER PETER SALAZAR, AND COMMISSIONER LEADER RAMIREZ. THOSE ARE THE NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN PUT TO JOIN THIS WORKING GROUP. SO I WOULD NEED SOMEBODY TO MAKE A MOTION, PLEASE. A MOTION TO ESTABLISH THE GROUP. I SECOND. I'LL SECOND. ALL RIGHT. HAS IT MOVED? AND SECONDED. ALL THOSE IN FAVORS PLEASE SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. THANK Y'ALL FOR, UM, YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE. WE APPRECIATE IT. OKAY. SO, UH, PREVIOUS COMMISSIONER [6. Discussion and possible action on appointing a new member to the Project Connect Community Advisory Committee (CAC).] SERVED AS OUR REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE PROJECT CONNECT 2020 CAPITAL, UH, METRO MEETING. SHE WAS OUR LIAISON. BROUGHT BACK INFORMATION ABOUT, UM, WHAT, UH, PROGRESS THEY'RE MAKING. I KNOW RECENTLY THEY HAVE PRESENTED DIFFERENT GROUPS WITHIN THE CITY OF AUSTIN. UM, OH MY GOSH. MARTIN CARI IS, UM, ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS IN CHARGE OF THIS PROJECT. UM, KEEPING THE DISABILITY POPULATION INVOLVED. WE CAN, HE'S ON ALSO ON THE COMMISSION FOR, UH, AGING. UM, BUT WE NEED ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE SINCE, UM, THE PREVIOUS COMMISSIONER'S NO LONGER ON THIS COMMISSION. UH, WE NEED ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE TO, UM, LIKE ATTEND THE PRODUCT 20 PRO TO CONNECT 2020 MEETINGS AND BRING BACK INFORMATION THAT COULD BE VITAL TO OUR COMMISSION'S GOALS. SO, UH, WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SERVE AS A LIAISON. DO YOU KNOW ANY OF THE DETAILS FOR THE MEETINGS? LIKE WHEN AND WHERE? DO THEY HAVE A VIRTUAL OPTION? UM, NO, BUT IF I COULD DEFINITELY FOLLOW, FOLLOW UP WITH MARK CARI. UM, HE AND I HAVE GOOD ESTABLISHED RAPPORT THAT, UM, I CAN GATHER THAT INFORMATION IF WE WANT TO. IF WE CAN'T FIND SOMEONE TONIGHT, I CAN GET, GATHER THAT INFORMATION AND WE CAN MAKE IT A DISCUSSION ACTION ITEM FOR NEXT MONTH. UNLESS SOMEONE FEELS COMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO JUST VOLUNTEER NOW. . OKAY. UH, DOES LIRA WITH, WITH YOUR, UH, CONCERN ABOUT TRANSPORTATION? I DON'T, I THINK YOU PROBABLY NEED TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT IT, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU. YEAH, I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED IN DOING IT, BUT I DON'T WANNA MAKE A COMMITMENT THAT I CAN'T KEEP. SO FOR SURE I DO NEED TO KNOW LIKE THE WHEN AND THE WHERE AND THAT SORT OF THING. OKAY. LET'S KEEP, LET'S KEEP COMMISSIONER RAMIREZ IN MIND FOR THIS THOUGH. OR VICE CHAIR MEYER. ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT VICE CHAIR MEYER OR LIDO? RAMIREZ. RAMIREZ. OH, OKAY. UH, I'M SORRY. RAMIREZ HAS A MASK ON WHO SAID THAT? I, I WAS SAYING RAMIREZ BECAUSE SHE'S INTERESTED IN TRANSPORTATION AND WE'RE DOING THE WORKING, OR SHE'S DOING THE WORKING GROUP FOR THAT. SO THAT'S, UH, THAT'S ACTUALLY VICE CHAIR MEYER. OH, OKAY. I'M SORRY. THE MASK. I, I DIDN'T KNOW WHO WAS SPEAKING . NO WORRIES, NO WORRIES. . ALRIGHT. UM, SO IF THERE'S NO ARGUMENT OR DISAGREEMENT, WE CAN TABLE THIS TO NEXT MONTH. I WILL FOLLOW WITH MARTIN HY WITH THE DETAILS OF THE MEETING SO THAT I COULD, UM, PROVIDE THAT TO YOU ALL SO THAT WE CAN MAKE A BETTER DECISION IF, UNLESS SOMEONE HAS A DISAGREEMENT. MOTION TO TABLE. SECOND. ALL MOVE. SECONDED. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. NOW, UM, [FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS] MOVING ON TO FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS BEFORE WE ADJOURN. I KNOW VICE CHAIR, UH, MEYER HAD SOMETHING TO SAY. YEAH, I, UM, UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO ATTEND ANY OF THE JOINT COMMISSION MEETINGS. I HAVE A, UM, NEW PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATION THAT I WAS NOT EXPECTING, AND I HAVE A NEW MEETING AT THREE 30 ON WEDNESDAYS, SO I'M NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO, UM, BE THE BACKUP PERSON, UM, FOR THAT COMMITTEE. SO WE NEED TO, AT THE NEXT MEETING, MAYBE ASSIGN SOMEONE ELSE OR ASK SOMEONE ELSE TO VOLUNTEER. UH, QUICK QUESTION BEFORE WE, UM, BEFORE WE COMMENT ON THAT, DO THEY RECORD THE MEETINGS? SO IF YOU, IF THEY DID RECORD, YOU COULD WATCH THE MEETINGS AT ANOTHER TIME AND THEN YEAH. AB ABSOLUTELY. BUT WHAT, UH, WHAT THE POSITION IS, IT'S JUST AN ALTERNATE. IF I HAVE, IF I'M NOT ABLE TO GO, YEAH. [01:25:01] UM, YEAH, BUT I'M, I WON'T, UM, I HAVE A MEETING EVERY TIME AT THAT TIME. SO EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO GO, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO IN YOUR STEAD. RIGHT. WE NEED TO, WE NEED TO MAKE A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM TO NOMINATE SOMEBODY ELSE. MM-HMM. TO, TO BE THE ALTERNATE. YEAH. THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW. MM-HMM. . YEAH, I'M SORRY. I APOLOGIZE. IT WAS JUST A, UM, NOT SOMETHING THAT I SAW COMING. LIFE HAPPENS. NO, THAT'S FINE. UM, SO I'D LIKE TO MAKE A MOTION TO PUT ON THE NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA TO FIND A NEW ALTERNATE FOR THE JOINT COMMISSION. SECOND. SECOND. ALL HAS MOVED AND SECONDED. ANY DISCUSSION? HEARING NONE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. ANY OTHER, UH, FEATURE AGENDA ITEMS? DO WE WANNA PUT, UM, MAYBE LIKE A FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS TO UPDATE, UM, THE WORK IN OUR WORK GROUPS? NO, I, I HAVE ENOUGH FUTURE AGENDA ITEM IF WE CAN DO AN EVALUATION ON HOUSING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AS FAR AS, YOU KNOW, WHAT'S BEEN OUT THERE WITH ALL THE NEW CONSTRUCTION? HAS IT EVEN BEEN ADDRESSED WITH ANY OF THE NEW CONSTRUCTION THAT THEY'RE DOING AROUND AUSTIN? WHAT IS THE CURRENT, YOU KNOW, ABILITY RIGHT NOW? IF WE CAN GET THE CITY OF AUSTIN FROM HOUSING OR ANY OTHER GROUP TO COME AND DO PRESENTATION? I MEAN, IT, UH, JACQUELINE, DO YOU HAVE SOMEONE IN MIND THAT WE, WE COULD CONTACT? I DO NOT, BUT I CAN REACH OUT TO THE HOUSING DEPARTMENT. OKAY. YEAH, WE COULD, UH, PUT THAT ON THE NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA. AND IF YOU DIDN'T HEAR JACQUELINE, SHE SAYS SHE'S GONNA REACH OUT TO THE HOUSING DEPARTMENT. UM, SO IF YOU WANNA MAKE A MOTION, COMMISSIONER SALAZAR A MOTION THAT WE, WE PUT ON THE NEXT AGENDA. THE, THE, HOW WOULD YOU SAY THE, THE HOUSING AVAILABILITY IN THE CITY OF BOSTON WITH ALL THE NEW CONSTRUCTION AND ANY OTHER FUTURE PLANS TO BE PRESENTED TO THIS COMMISSION. IS THERE A SECOND? I SECOND. UH, VICE CHAIR SECONDS. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, OR ACTUALLY ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? HEARING NONE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR PLEASE SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. I BELIEVE WE HAVE TIME FOR MAYBE ONE MORE IF THERE IS ANY FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. ANYBODY? NO. ALL RIGHT. SO NOW MOVE ON TO ADJOURNMENT. I'LL ACCEPT A MOTION TO ADJOURN. A I. MOTION TO ADJOURN? I SECOND. ALL RIGHT. MOVING SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. AYE. OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT. Y'ALL HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND. UM, PLEASE BE SAFE UNTIL OUR NEXT MEETING. UM, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS THAT COME UP FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME. * This transcript was created by voice-to-text technology.
