[00:00:04] I'D LIKE [CALL TO ORDER] TO CALL THE, UM, JANUARY 10TH, 2024 MEETING OF THE AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMISSION. TO ORDER. PRESENT ARE COMMISSIONERS HENDRICKS YOUNG, FANG FONG, TODD VALDEZ, AND ENNIS IN PERSON. AND, HELLO, COMMISSIONER ELLER. NICE TO SEE YOU. UM, OUR FIRST ITEM OF BUSINESS IS PUBLIC COMMUNICATION. UH, NO ONE IS HERE TO SPEAK TO THAT TODAY. UH, ONE ADDITION WE HAVE COMMISSIONER KON. ALSO, I NEED TO SEE YOU ONLINE, JONATHAN, TO CALL YOU TO SAY THAT YOU'RE HERE. OLA. OKAY. HI. YOU CAN GO OFF SCREEN NOW. WE'RE NOT DOING ANY OFFICIAL BUSINESS, JUST TAKING THE ROLE. ALRIGHT. NO PUBLIC COMMUNICATION. THE NEXT ITEM OF [APPROVAL OF MINUTES] BUSINESS IS THE APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING OF DECEMBER 13TH, 2023. I'LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION TO APPROVE MOVE APPROVAL. UM, COMMISSIONER VALDEZ. SECOND. SECOND YOUNG. UM, I HAVE A QUE I HAVE A COMMENT. ARE THERE ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL CORRECTIONS OR COMMENTS I WOULD LIKE THE RECORD TO REFLECT, UM, IN THE ITEM REGARDING THE WORKING GROUP? UM, UPDATES THAT THERE WAS NO UPDATES THOSE MONTHS. OKAY. IS THAT, WOULD, UM, COMMISSIONER VALDEZ, DO YOU ACCEPT THAT? YES. OKAY. ALL IN FAVOR? AYE. A UM, DO STAFF, DO YOU HAVE THAT? IT'S EVERYBODY PRESENT? YES. OKAY. THANK YOU. OKAY, MOVING ON. UM, [2. November 2023 Financial Results presented by Rajeev Thomas, Deputy Chief, Finance] WE HAVE STAFF BRIEFINGS TODAY. OH, HELLO RAJIV. WELCOME. UM, I'D LIKE TO CONGRATULATE, UH, RAJIV THOMAS ON HIS PROMOTION TO DEPUTY CHIEF OF FINANCE. AND, UM, AND ALSO CONGRATULATIONS ON THE, THE, UH, NUMBERS. OH, THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. YEP. SO GOOD AFTERNOON COMMISSIONERS. UM, I'LL START WITH THE, THE, UH, THE REVENUE FOR NOVEMBER, UH, 2023. SO THE OPERATING REVENUES CAME IN AT 26 MILLION, UH, COMPARED TO 22.6 LAST YEAR. UH, SO THAT WAS A $3.4 MILLION INCREASE VERSUS LAST YEAR NOVEMBER, AND A 15.2% INCREASE YEAR OVER YEAR. UM, AND VERSUS BUDGET, UH, WE ARE ALSO, UM, TRACKING BETTER THAN BUDGET RIGHT NOW FOR THE, THE TWO MONTHS, OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER, UH, FISCAL YEAR TO DATE, UH, WE ARE ABOUT 5.8 MILLION HIGHER THAN WHAT WE BUDGETED. SO THE REVENUES ARE TRACKING VERY WELL, UH, VERSUS BUDGET. UH, ON THE OPERATING SIDE, UM, YOU'LL SEE THAT THE OPERATING EXPENSES FOR THE AIRPORT SEEM A LITTLE HIGH. UH, THERE'S A COUPLE OF REASONS FOR THAT. UM, IT'S 13.38 MILLION IN NOVEMBER VERSUS 8.8 MILLION LAST YEAR. SO THAT'S A $4.6 MILLION INCREASE. PART OF THAT WAS LAST YEAR. THE GAIN SHARING PORTION OF, UM, OF THE PAYOUT HAPPENED IN DECEMBER OF 2022 VERSUS NOVEMBER LAST YEAR. SO THIS YEAR WE PAID IT OUT IN NOVEMBER. SO THAT'S ABOUT $1.6 MILLION. THAT IS, UH, CREATING THAT VARIANCE OF THE, OF THE 5.4 $0.6 MILLION INCREASE. UH, OTHER ITEMS, YOU KNOW, THAT ALSO ARE, ARE, UH, LEADING TO THE INCREASES. WE HAVE A HIGHER HEAD COUNT THAN WE HAVE LAST YEAR. UH, WE HAVE ABOUT ALMOST 80 FTES MORE THAN WE HAD NOVEMBER IN OF 2022. UH, PLUS WE HAVE ON THE CONTRACTUAL SIDE, WE HAVE A NEW VANDERLANDE CONTRACT, UH, THAT HAD STARTED, UH, THIS FISCAL YEAR THAT IS ABOUT $400,000, UH, MONTHLY THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE LAST YEAR. AND ALSO THERE ARE OUR EXPENSES RELATED TO, UM, A F WHICH IS OUR, OUR OUR, UM, UM, A FD OR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. CAUSE UH, THERE WAS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT, UM, THAT WAS APPROVED BY COUNCIL NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR. A LUMP SUM PAYOUT RELATED TO THAT HIT IN THIS MONTH IN NOVEMBER. SO THAT'S ALSO, UH, LEADING TO THE INCREASE, UH, YEAR OVER YEAR. SO THOSE ARE LIKE THE MAIN ITEMS THAT ARE CAUSING THE OPERATIONAL EXPENSES INCREASE. UH, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, UH, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE SURPLUS OR THE NET REVENUES, UH, IT WAS $5.8 MILLION IN NOVEMBER OF 2023 VERSUS $7.9 MILLION LAST YEAR. BUT YEAR TO DATE, WE ARE ABOUT 1.3 OFF OF THE PACE OF LAST YEAR. MOST OF THAT IS RELATED TO THE DEBT INCREASE IN THE DEBT, WHICH WAS ABOUT $1.1 MILLION. SO, YEAR TO DATE, WE ARE TRACKING VERY WELL WITH LAST YEAR IN TERMS OF THE SURPLUS REVENUES. COMMISSIONERS, DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR MR. THOMAS? UM, I WOULD LIKE A DEFINITION OF WHAT GAIN SHARING IS. [00:05:01] OH, GAIN SHARING IS, UH, A, THE, THE, THE EMPLOYEE BONUS THAT WE HAVE ANNUALLY. UM, SO IT'S, IT'S A $4,000 MAXIMUM PAYOUT THAT WE HAVE. AND THAT HAPPENS USUALLY AT NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR. OKAY. OH, SORRY. OKAY. THANK YOU. AND THEN ALSO, I HEARD YOU SAY SOMETHING CALLED A F ALTHOUGH IT'S THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. YES. IT'S THE, YEAH, IT'S THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THAT'S WHAT WE CALL IT. WHAT IS IT A RF STAND FOR? UH, YES, THERE YOU GO. AIRPORT, RESCUE AND FIRE, FIREFIGHTER RESCUE, AIRPORT RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTER. OKAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND THAT ADDITIONAL FOR THE JEREMY I, COMMISSIONER HENDRICKS, I MAY RELY ON YOU FOR THIS, FOR THE, WHY WOULD THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RESULT IN, UH, ADDITIONAL PAYOUT? BECAUSE IT WASN'T ONE, IT WASN'T BUDGETED, BUT THERE WAS AN ALSO I THINK AN 8% INCREASE TO THE PAY THAT VERSUS LAST YEAR IT'S A INCREASE AND IT WAS A LUMP SUM AMOUNT THAT HIT IN NOVEMBER. OKAY. EXCELLENT. UH, COMMISSIONERS. OKAY, GREAT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS. YOU'RE WELCOME. THANK YOU. UM, OUR AIR SERVICE UPDATE. JAMIE [3. Air Service Update provided by Jamy Kazanoff, AUS Air Service Development] KOFF, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME? ALRIGHT, SO THERE'S THE REPORT. THE AIRLINES ARE CERTAINLY PAYING ATTENTION TO US. WE CAN TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AND THE WE'RE ALWAYS IN THE NEWS FOR SOMETHING ADDED OR FOR SOMETHING SUBTRACTED. WE ARE STARTING TO SEE THE EFFECTS OF, UM, AMERICAN AIRLINES RATCHETING BACK THESE NEXT FEW MONTHS. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT IN THE 24 TO 23 CAPACITY CHANGES WE'RE DOWN 10% WITH SEATS JANUARY 24 COMPARED TO JANUARY 23. BUT IF YOU COMPARE JANUARY 24 TO PRE COVID, WE'RE STILL UP 39%. I JUST ALWAYS WANNA HIGHLIGHT THAT. UM, LAST YEAR WE ENDED ON A REALLY GOOD NOTE. THE BUSINESS JOURNAL SAID THAT WE WERE NUMBER TWO IN THE COUNTRY IN TERMS OF CAPACITY ADS VERSUS PRE COVID. WE WERE JUST BEHIND ORLANDO WITH THE NUMBER OF ORIGINATING FLIGHTS INCREASING 42%. THE BIGGEST NEWS IN THIS REPORT IS DELTA AND DELTA RAMPING UP IN AUSTIN, TEXAS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY'LL BE CONNECTING AIRCRAFT PASSENGERS RATHER THROUGH AUSTIN. THEY'VE ADDED THREE NEW DAILY FLIGHTS. THEY ADDED A ROUTE TO NASHVILLE, THEY ADDED A ROUTE TO MIDLAND AND A NEW NONSTOP FOR AUSTIN MACALLAN. AND, UH, THIS OF COURSE JUST COMES OUT A MONTH AFTER AMERICAN AIRLINES PULLED SOME SERVICE BACK HERE. SO IT'S TERRIFIC TO SEE DELTA ADDING HERE. AND IT'S ALL THE BUZZ WITH THE INDUSTRY. UM, THEY HAVE A CALCULATED RISK IN ADDING TO AUSTIN, AND WE WISH THEM GREAT SUCCESS. SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UPCOMING NEW NONSTOPS AND NEW ROUTES FOR AUSTIN. IN FACT, I ADDED A CHART, A NEW CHART, SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO COMING IN MARCH THE NINTH, SOUTHWEST MONTEREY, MEXICO BY VIVA ABOS BACK IN AUSTIN, MARCH 22ND, YEAR ROUND MACALLAN ON DELTA THAT STARTS APRIL 22ND. MIDLAND, DELTA AND NASHVILLE, DELTA, MONTREAL ON AIR CANADA, MAY 3RD, EUGENE, OREGON ON ALLEGIANT, MAY 31ST, AND BOSTON ON SOUTHWEST SEASONALLY. WHEN WE COMPARE JANUARY 24 TO 23, OUR NONSTOP DESTINATIONS ARE DOWN BECAUSE OF THE PRIMARILY AMERICAN AIRLINES RATCHETING BACK. OUR NONSTOP DEPARTURES ARE DOWN AND OUR NONSTOP SEAT DEPARTURES ARE DOWN YEAR OVER YEAR, BUT SUCCESSFULLY UP SINCE PRE COVID. SO WE'RE SEEING THESE CROSS CONNECTIONS, THESE CROSS CORRECTIONS FOR AUSTIN. UH, RECENTLY ALASKA PULLED BACK ON BOISE, WHICH, UM, WAS PUT IN DURING THE SUMMER OF 21. THE AIRLINES KEEP IN MIND WE'RE LOOKING FOR, UH, ROUTES THAT WERE LEISURE FOCUSED AND OUTDOOR FOCUSED. AND BECAUSE THEIR HUBS HAD NOT QUITE COME BACK TO WHERE THEY WERE, THEY NOW NEED AIRCRAFT BACK INTO THEIR HUBS. AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES, WE DID LOSE THAT ROUTE ON ALASKA. AND SPEAKING OF ALASKA, YOU'VE ALL BEEN READING PROBABLY ABOUT THE MAX NINE ISSUE AND THE GROUNDING OF THAT ISSUE. WE ARE DEFINITELY AFFECTED IN AUSTIN. ALASKA, UH, HAS CANCELED A FEW FLIGHTS EVERY DAY. THREE FLIGHTS OUT OF THEIR APPROXIMATELY EIGHT PER DAY HAVE BEEN CANCELED THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. UNITED ALSO FLIES THIS AIRCRAFT AND THEY'VE HAD JUST A HANDFUL OF CANCELLATIONS. [00:10:02] WE'RE HOPING THAT THAT GETS REMEDIED WITH CHANGES IN AIRCRAFT AND OF COURSE, THE INSPECTIONS. WE HOPE THAT GOES WELL FOR THE INDUSTRY AND, AND MOVES ALONG. UH, ONE OTHER THING I WANNA MENTION IS THAT, UH, AUSTIN HOSTS AIRPORT AND AIRLINE CONFERENCES FROM TIME TO TIME. AND IN JANUARY WE'LL BE HOSTING AN AIR SERVICE DATA CONFERENCE. THIS IS HELD EVERY TWO YEARS BY ONE OF OUR PRIMARY TRADE ORGANIZATIONS CALLED AIRPORTS COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL. THIS ATTRACTS PRIMARILY SMALLER AIRPORTS THAT WANNA LEARN, UH, HOW TO DO AIR SERVICE DEVELOPMENT, AND PARTICULARLY THE DATA THAT THE AIRLINES LOOK AT WHEN THEY'RE MAKING DECISIONS ON WHERE TO FLY. SO THERE'S ALL KINDS OF DATA THAT, UM, AIRLINES USE. THEY USE MOBILE LYTICS AND WEB DATA. THEY USE HISTORICAL PATTERNS. THEY WANNA KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE COMMUNITY, AND THAT'S WHERE THIS TRAINING WILL OCCUR IN AUSTIN. SO WE'RE PROUD TO HOST THAT IN JANUARY. ALL THAT. THANK YOU. THAT WAS A VERY ROBUST, UH, PRESENTATION. I APPRECIATE ALL THE, UH, TOUCH POINTS COMMISSIONERS. DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR JAMIE KASSOFF AT THIS TIME? UM, JUST AS A MOMENT OF A POINT OF BUSINESS SINCE WE BROUGHT THE MEETING TO ORDER COM, UH, VICE CHAIR BROCK AND SECRETARY ROSE ARE IN ATTENDANCE NOW. UM, I HAVE A QUESTION. UH, THANK CONGRATULATIONS ON THE RECOGNITION BEING THE SECOND LARGEST, WHATEVER THAT WAS. WAS THAT LAST YEAR, CALENDAR YEAR OR LAST YEAR? FISCAL YEAR. IT WAS LAST YEAR. CALENDAR YEAR. OKAY. MM-HMM, . SO 23 MM-HMM. . AND, UM, SINCE THERE ARE, THIS IS A QUIET, QUIETER TIME HISTORICALLY YES. FOR AIR TRAVEL IN THE WINTER MONTHS. UM, ARE YOU EXPECTING ANY CHANGES TO SERVICE WHEN THE SUMMER TRAVEL SEASON ARRIVES? YES. AIRLINES ARE STILL MAKING DECISIONS ON SUMMER TRAVEL. SO WE WILL SEE TWEAKS TO WHAT'S ALREADY BEEN LOADED AND WHAT'S FOR SALE. AND WE MAY SEE NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS AS WELL. SO THERE'LL BE SOME CHANGES BEFORE THE SUMMER. SO THAT'S WHY OUR REPORT AND THE CAPACITY ADS WE SHOW JUST SHOWS THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, BECAUSE THAT'S A LITTLE BETTER DATA THAN WHEN WE LOOK OUT FURTHER. THANK YOU, COMMISSIONERS. THANK YOU. UM, WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE, UH, WEATHER EVENT YESTERDAY? DID THAT, HOW DID THAT AFFECT AUSTIN YESTERDAY OR THIS WEEK? UH, WE HAD SOME , BUT I KNOW IT AFFECTED MY DAUGHTER'S FLOOD . YEAH, I KNOW, RIGHT? SHE WAS COMING FROM NEW YORK. UM, I DON'T KNOW. I'M NOT SURE THERE WAS SOME TO THE BOSTON AIRPORT. YEAH. BUT DIVERSIONS USUALLY RESULT IN REVENUE FOR OUR AIRPORT, CORRECT? YES. OKAY. YES, WE'RE THE PRIMARY DIVERSION AIRPORT FOR DALLAS AND HOUSTON AND SAN ANTONIO. INTERESTING. OKAY. THANK YOU. THANKS. THANKS VERY MUCH. UM, OUR NEXT ITEM IS JOURNEY WITH [4. Journey with AUS (AUS AEDP/Capital Improvement Program) Active Projects Update provided by Lyn Estabrook, Deputy Chief Development Officer, Planning and Development] A US, THE ACTIVE PROJECTS UPDATE PROVIDED BY LYNN ESTHER BOOK, DEPUTY CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT. HELLO, LYNN. GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE. UM, IN YOUR BACKUP, YOU'LL SEE THE PRESENTATION AND I JUST WANNA HIGHLIGHT THREE PARTICULAR PAGES. UM, IF YOU TURN TO PAGE 27, IT'S THE AIRFIELD INFRASTRUCTURE AND UTILITY CAMPUS. THAT PROJECT IS NOW IN SOLICITATION STAGE. THE SOLICITATION WENT OUT ON THE EIGHTH, SO JUST A FEW DAYS AGO. UM, AND IT'S GOING TO BE, UM, CLOSING ROUGHLY AROUND, UM, FEBRUARY 8TH. SO THAT ONE'S OUT. UM, IF YOU TURN THE PAGE, YOU NOW SEE ALSO ANOTHER NEW AD, THE CENTRAL UTILITY PLANT, SINCE THAT PROJECT IS ALSO IN SOLICITATION PHASE. UM, THAT ONE IS CURRENTLY IN YOUR PACKET. THAT ONE HAS BEEN OPEN FOR A WHILE. IT WILL BE CLOSING ON THE 12TH OF THIS MONTH. SO ALSO IN JUST A FEW DAYS. UM, THE NEXT PROJECT ON PAGE 29 IS THE WEST GARAGE, WHICH I CAME AND TALKED ABOUT LAST MONTH. AND THAT ONE IS ALSO IN SOLICITATION PHASE. AND IT, UM, THAT SOLICITATION IS OUT AND IT WILL CLOSE ON THE 2ND OF FEBRUARY CURRENTLY. UM, SO THOSE ARE ALL THE NEW ADS TO THE MONTHLY, UM, UPDATE. AND NOW THAT THOSE PROJECTS ARE ALL IN SOLICITATION PHASE, AND WE'LL BE MOVING TO DESIGN SOON, THEY ARE NOW IN YOUR MONTHLY UPDATE. THANK, THANK YOU LYNN. UM, FOR PURPOSES OF THE COMMISSIONERS AND THE COMMISSION, CAN WE HAVE CLARIFICATION ABOUT WHAT IS APPROPRIATE WHEN A PROJECT IS IN SOLICITATION PHASE? YES. SO WE CAN GET YOU SOME SPECIFIC LANGUAGE, UM, IN THE FUTURE ABOUT THE, THERE'S A ORDINANCE OUT THERE [00:15:01] IN TERMS OF A NON LOBBYING, UM, ORDINANCE. SO WE CAN GET YOU THAT SPECIFIC. UM, JASON GETS YOU THAT SPECIFIC LANGUAGE, BUT BASICALLY IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU, UM, SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THESE SOLICITATIONS, YOU CAN REFER THEM BACK TO AUSTIN FINANCE ONLINE. AND THERE IS A POINT OF CONTACT BOTH FOR THE SOLICITATION AND PROJECT QUESTIONS, AND ALL QUESTIONS NEED TO GO TO THAT PERSON. UM, A LOT OF TIMES THEY'RE THROUGH THE PROCUREMENT OFFICE. THEY'RE NOT EVEN AN AVIATION STAFF MEMBER, UM, IN ORDER TO, UM, FOLLOW THAT ANTI LOBBYING ORDINANCE. THANK YOU FOR THAT CLARIFICATION. YES, IT WORKS BOTH WAYS. I MEAN, IF, IF WE KNOW PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY WHO ARE INTERESTED IN BIDDING ON THESE PROJECTS AND WE'RE TALKING TO THEM, THEY, IF IT'S FOUND OUT THAT WE'RE TALKING TO THEM, THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. SO YOU CAN TELL THEM THE SOLICITATION IS OUT, YOU CAN, UM, TELL THEM TO GO TO THAT SITE. UM, TELL THEM ALL THE INFORMATION THAT'S ON THAT SITE IS OPEN PUBLIC INFORMATION. SO IT DOES LIST THINGS LIKE SCOPE AND TIMEFRAMES AND WHO THE POINTS OF CONTACT ARE. SO ANYTHING ON THAT SOLICITATION PAGE IS OPEN FOR ANY PUBLIC, UM, INFORMATION AND DIALOGUE. GREAT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. CO COMMISSIONERS. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? OKAY, THANK YOU. UM, ARE YOU, ARE YOU READY TO MOVE ON TO [5. Update on the Concourse B and Connector Project presented by Lyn Estabrook, Deputy Chief Development Officer, Planning and Development, and Robert Mercado, AUS Project Manager] THE UPDATE ON CONCOURSE B AND THE CONNECTOR PROJECT? YES. THAT'S A PRESENTATION THAT I'M ACTUALLY GONNA GO AHEAD AND DELIVER, SO I'LL WAIT FOR THAT TO BE UP. NO, IT'S A SEPARATE PRESENTATION. UM, COMMISSIONER, UH, VICE CHAIR. BROCK, CAN I, CAN WE SEE YOUR FACE SO WE CAN COUNT YOU AS HERE BEFORE? OH, THERE YOU ARE. HELLO. WELCOME. HAPPY NEW YEAR. OKAY, YOU CAN SCREEN OFF. YOU CAN SCREEN OFF NOW. THANK YOU. THERE WE GO. OKAY, NEXT PAGE. SO YEAH, THIS IS PART OF OUR JOURNEY WITH A US NEXT. SO THIS IS AN OVERALL PROGRAM. THIS IS, UM, WHAT I JUST TALKED ABOUT LAST MONTH IS ON OUR, UM, WEBSITE WITHIN THE JOURNEY WITH A US. THIS IS THE 10 YEAR, 10 PLUS YEAR PROGRAM. SO A NUMBER OF THESE PROJECTS THAT I JUST SPOKE OF ARE IN, UM, SOLICITATION PHASE. THERE'S CURRENTLY A FEW IN DESIGN. SO I'LL JUST GO THROUGH THAT QUICKLY SO THAT GIVE YOU GUYS AN UPDATE ON THAT. SO ON THIS PAGE YOU'LL SEE AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IS IT SAYS PARKING GARAGE. THAT IS THE GARAGE I JUST SPOKE TO OF THAT. WE CALL IT THE WEST GARAGE. THAT GARAGE IS OUT FOR SOLICITATION. UM, THAT'S WHERE THAT LOCATION IS. IF YOU MOVE TOWARDS THE TOP OF THAT PICTURE, THE NEXT PART OF THE PROJECTS THAT ARE IN, UM, IN PROGRESS RIGHT NOW IS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONCOURSE. YOU'LL SEE AN, UH, A NOTE THAT SAYS BARBARA JORDAN TERMINAL OPTIMIZATION AREA TWO. THAT'S WHAT WE ALSO LIKE TO CALL THE WEST INFILL. THAT OR THE, THE ATRIUM INFILL. THAT PROJECT IS IN DESIGN RIGHT NOW. UM, AND THE CMR, UM, HAD WAS AWARDED TO, UM, WHITING TURNER. SO THEY'LL BE MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT PROJECT THAT IS FILLING IN. AND THAT'S IN THIS PACKET, FILLING IN THE FLOOR OF THE ATRIUM TO GET MORE QUEUING SPACE. IF YOU MOVE TO THE RIGHT OF THE IMAGE, THE WEST INFILL, UM, IS THAT NEXT BLUE BOX. AND AT THE VERY END OF THE EXISTING CONCOURSE IS THE WEST GATES. AND SO THAT PROJECT IS ALSO IN CONSTRUCTION. SO THOSE TWO ARE IN CONSTRUCTION. AS YOU MOVE TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE PAGE, YOU'LL SEE THE CONNECTOR AND THE CONCOURSE. AND WE'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT HERE IN JUST A MINUTE. AND THEN THE AIRFIELD ARE THOSE TWO REALLY LONG LINES. THOSE ARE THE MIDFIELD, UH, CROSS TAXIWAYS. THOSE ARE WHAT I LIKE TO DEEM THE HIGHWAYS FOR THE PLANE. AND SO THAT WHAT, THAT'S WHAT GETS YOU BETWEEN ONE HIGHWAY AND THE OTHER, WHICH ARE THE ACTUAL RUNWAYS, WHICH, UM, HAVE LET THE PLANES TAKE OFF AND FLY AWAY. SO ON THE VERY LEFT OF THE PROJECT, THE OTHER PROJECTS THAT ARE IN PROCUREMENT RIGHT NOW, THE CENTRAL UTILITY PLANT THAT'S AT THE VERY LEFT OF THE PAGE THERE, THAT LITTLE BLUE BOX. UH, SO JUST AN AREA BOX. UM, AND THEN THERE'S FUTURE PROJECTS THAT ARE, UM, LEFT. SO THE AD HALL WILL BE COMING, UM, MAYBE NEXT MONTH TO YOU GUYS TO ALSO DO A SIMILAR PRESENTATION, UM, OR SOMETIME IN, IN MARCH. SO WE'LL, WE'LL, YOU'LL SEE THAT COMING SOON, WHICH IS RIGHT IN THE CENTER AND THE ROADWAYS THAT ARE NEXT TO THAT. AND THEN THERE'S SOME, UM, ADDITIONAL PAVEMENT FOR PLANES, WHICH IS CALLED THE NORTHEAST APRON. AND THEN TO THE SOUTH OF THAT NORTHEAST APRON IS WAY IN THE FUTURE WE'RE LOOKING AT, UM, DO WE NEED TO EXPAND THE INTERNATIONAL AREA. AND SO THAT IS THE TOTAL 10 PLUS YEAR, UM, PROGRAM, UM, WITHIN [00:20:01] THE CAMPUS TO, FOR THE A EDP NEXT, UH, AGAIN, YOU, WE CAN ASK QUESTIONS AS YOU GO. THAT'S, I'M FINE WITH THAT. YES, , UM, GO BACK TO THE AREA MATH, JUST A, UH, A QUESTION ABOUT THIS DIAGRAM. IF, UM, I UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S ORIENTED THIS WAY AND NORTH ARROW WOULD BE VERY INSTRUCTIVE BECAUSE THE NORTHEAST THINGS ARE IN THE SOUTHWEST AND THE WEST INFILLS ON THE EAST SIDE, AND IT IS CONFUSING FOR, IT'S CONFUSING TO ME. OKAY. SO NOT A PROBLEM IF WE PUT A NORTH ARROW ON THERE, THAT'LL BE SOLVED, OR IF WE ORIENTED ANOTHER WAY, BUT FOR CONSISTENCY, IF THIS IS A WAY THAT WE'RE GONNA CONTINUE MOVING FORWARD, IT'S CONFUSING UNLESS YOU'RE AMBIDEXTROUS TO UNDERSTAND WHY IS THE SOUTHEAST THING ON THE LOWER LEFT. OKAY. DRAWING. THANK YOU. AND THE IMAGE IS SITUATED AS IF YOU WERE DRIVING INTO THE CAMPUS, AND THAT'S CORRECT. AND WE WHY LIKE THAT WE HAVE A COMMENT OR QUESTION FROM SECRETARY ROSE. THANK YOU. I APOLOGIZE TO EVERYBODY FOR BEING LATE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACE LYNN. UM, THIS IS SO HELPFUL TO SEE IT. YEAH. GOOD. UM, SO SUCCESS FOR US LOOKS LIKE EXECUTING ALL OF THIS WITHIN THAT TEN-ISH YEAR TIMEFRAME. YES. BUT THIS IS WHAT, THIS IS WHAT IS REPRESENTED BY JOURNEY WITH A US AND THIS IS THE JOURNEY WITH A US PROGRAM. MM-HMM. , THE A DP PROGRAM, IT'S A LOT . MM-HMM. . BUT A NUMBER OF THEM, AS I SAID, ARE ALREADY OUT IN PROCUREMENT, SO WE ARE ON TOP OF IT. IT'S COOL TO SEE. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT TOGETHER THIS WAY. YOU'RE WELCOME. AND IS THERE A DOCUMENT, AND I MIGHT HAVE, I MIGHT HAVE MISSED IT. SO JUST POINT ME TO IT. THAT SPEAKS TO THE ORDER OF THESE THINGS BY WAY OF DEGREE. THERE IS, WE'LL DOUBLE CHECK THAT IT'S POSTED ON THE WEBSITE. I, I, I BELIEVE THERE IS. OKAY. THERE'S ALSO A VIDEO THAT OF THIS MM-HMM. , UM, THAT KIND OF SHOWS YOU THAT, UM, THE VIDEO GOES FROM THE VERY INTI, IT'S A TIME VIDEO. IT DOESN'T SHOW YOU THE ACTUAL TIMEFRAME BECAUSE THAT'S ALWAYS AN EVOLVING, UM, THING AS JAMIE JUST TALKED ABOUT, THE FORECAST IS EVOLVING. UM, BUT IT DOES SHOW YOU THE SEQUENCING OF YEAH. WHEN THAT, THAT'S REALLY, THAT WHEN EVERYTHING COMES ON AND WHAT ORDER THEY COMES IN ON. MM-HMM. . MM-HMM. . AND ON THE, I'M TRYING TO DO THOSE GYMNASTICS, WENDY, THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ON THE EAST OR THE LEFT SIDE OF THIS? MM-HMM. , BARBARA JORDAN, TERMINAL OPTIMIZATION. OPTIMIZATION AREA THREE, THE INTERNATIONAL SIDE. MM-HMM. . DO YOU ENVISION THAT BEING SEQUENCED AFTER OR BEFORE CONCOURSE B? WE HAVE TO BUILD CONCOURSE B AND THE APRON MORE IMPORTANTLY AROUND IT. OKAY. BECAUSE RIGHT NOW, OH, SCOTT MEDO ISS NOT HERE, BUT HE WOULD PROBABLY EXPLAIN, UM, COMMISSIONER MEDO WOULD EXPLAIN THAT THERE'S A ROAD OR A PUSHBACK ROAD THAT THE PLANES ARE ON. AND RIGHT NOW, THAT CURRENT ROAD IN THE CURRENT IN THE BJT AND THE CURRENT TERMINAL MIMICS THE SHAPE OF THE BUILDING. SO IT'S STRAIGHT THEN CURVES AND STRAIGHT. YOU GOT IT. AND WE HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE WHOLE THING TO THE DEPTH OF THE CURVE LINE IN ORDER TO THEN BE ABLE TO DO THAT PART OF THE EXPANSION. 'CAUSE THE BUILDING IT'S FATTER. CAN'T DO THAT UNLESS THE APRON IS BUILT THE AREA AROUND WHAT WE CALL THE APRON, THE AREA AROUND THE CONCOURSE, WHICH THEN WILL ALLOW US TO STRAIGHTEN OUT ALL OF THOSE LINES AND THOSE ROADWAYS FOR THE PLANES SO THAT THEY CAN MANEUVER SAFELY. RIGHT. AND REMIND ME, LYNN, THE, THE NUMBER OF NET NEW GATES ON THE WEST SIDE OF BARBARA JORDAN ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECT THAT IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY. THE, UH, HOW MANY IS THAT? THE CURRENT PROJECT IS A THREE GATE. UM, WE DON'T REALLY CALL IT AN EXPANSION. IT'S A DISPLACEMENT . YEP. BECAUSE WHEN WE CONNECT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE BUILDING TO, TO GET PASSENGERS TO THE NEW CONCOURSE, WE'LL DISPLACE THOSE GATES. YEP. AND SO THEY WILL THEN BE AT THE VERY END. SO THERE'LL BE A RENUMBERING THAT WILL HAPPEN AND EVERYONE WILL KIND OF SHIFT DOWN AND AROUND. SO IT'S NOT NET THREE NET OF WHAT HAPPENS TO GET THE CONNECTOR DONE? NO. OKAY. UM, OPERATIONS IS, IT'S NET NEUTRAL. IT'S NET NEUTRAL INCLUSIVE OF THE CONNECTOR OPERATIONS. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THREE MORE, BUT THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT'S WORKING RIGHT NOW. AND SO THE TOTAL FOR THIS SECTION THAT, YOU KNOW, WE, IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF IT EXTENDED EAST, BUT I KNOW IT JUST EXTENDS WEST CONCOURSE B UM, THE TOTAL NUMBER OF NET NEW GATES ONCE CONCOURSE B AND THE BARBARA JORDAN [00:25:01] TERMINAL OPTIMIZATION AREA THREE ARE EXECUTED, WOULD BE HOW MANY? I'LL GIVE YOU THAT NUMBER. I THINK IT WILL BE BETTER AS WE MOVE THROUGH. THERE'S A BETTER DIAGRAM THAT SHOWS THE GATING THAT I THINK WE'LL EXPLAIN THAT A LITTLE BETTER. UM, SO I'LL GET BACK TO THAT ANSWER FOR YOU. PERFECT. PERFECT. I HAVE ANOTHER, UH, CLARIFYING QUESTION AS WELL. I, I KEEP FORGETTING TO ASK WHAT'S HAPPENING, WHAT IS THE STATUS OF, OF GATE 13? IT IS OPEN. NO. CONGRATULATIONS. YES. , OR, OR IS IT BEING USED? IT'S FOR REGULAR OPERATIONS. SO NEXT TIME WE HAVE A DIVERT THAT NEEDS THE GATE, THAT'S WHEN WE'LL USE IT. IS THE BUS, THE BUSES ARE PROCURED. MM-HMM. . BUT THEY'RE NOT OPERATING QUITE YET. WE'RE THE SP PLUS OUR PARKING MANAGEMENT HAS, THEY'RE THE ONES WHO DO ALL THE SHUTTLES FOR ALL THE PARKING LOTS. AND SO THEY HAVE, UM, IF YOU'VE EVER PARKED IN THE VERY FAR AWAY PARKING, YOU'LL SEE THEY'VE GOT A, A LITTLE GROUP OF BUSES THAT WAIT WHEN THEY NEED THEM AND USE THEM AS THE CAPACITY COMES AND GOES. AND SO THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE FOR. OH, FANTASTIC. OKAY. THANK YOU. MM-HMM. , ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS OVERALL IMAGE? AND I, I CANNOT SEE, UM, VICE CHAIR BROCK ON THE SCREEN FOR WHATEVER REASON. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE'S A WAY TO WORK AROUND THAT. I SEE. OH, I MEAN, NO, NO. I MEAN, I KNOW YOU'RE THERE, THERE, BUT NOW I SEE YOU. OKAY, THERE WE GO. THANK YOU. SO IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION NOW, I CAN CALL ON YOU. OTHERWISE I COULDN'T, I DIDN'T HAVE THAT SQUARE. THANKS A LOT. OKAY. WE'LL GET ON THE NEXT PAGE. I THINK JONATHAN HAD, OH, DID JONATHAN HAVE IT? OH, JONATHAN HAS A QUESTION. YES. SORRY. I RECOGNIZE, UH, COMMISSIONER CO. SORRY. YEAH, I MIGHT BE OFF THE, UH, OF THE BREAK ON THE SCREEN OR SOMETHING YOU'RE SAYING TOO. YEAH, I, AND I, I APOLOGIZE YOU'RE GOING THROUGH THE DECK. I DIDN'T, AND I APOLOGIZE IF I'M INTERRUPTING. THIS IS ABOUT TO GET COVERED ANYWAY, BUT DO WE HAVE AN ESTIMATE? AND I'M NOT ASKING FOR SOMETHING THAT LIKE WE'RE COMMITTED TO, BUT DO WE HAVE AN ESTIMATE FOR WHEN WE THINK WE'LL GET STARTED ON THE CONNECTOR AND CONCOURSE B AND YOU KNOW, WHEN, UH, WHEN THEY MIGHT BE COMPLETED? YEAH, I'LL, I'LL GET TO THAT AS WELL, UM, AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE DECK. OKAY, COOL. THANKS. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OVERALL PROGRAM? IF NOT, WE'LL GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE. NEXT, NEXT. SO THIS JUST, UH, AN IMAGE THAT HONES IN ON WHAT WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT A LITTLE BIT MORE IN DETAIL TODAY, WHICH IS THE CONCOURSE AND THE CONNECTOR NEXT. SO THIS IS A CONCEPTUAL LAYOUT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL CONSTRUCTION PHASING, AND WE'RE STILL WORKING WITH THAT. AND ONCE WE GET A CMR AND A DESIGNER ON BOARD, WE'LL NARROW DOWN WHAT THE PHASING ACTUALLY IS IN TERMS OF CONSTRUCTABILITY. BUT THE OVERALL TOTAL, UM, LOOK OF WHAT THE FINAL THING WOULD BE PRE POST 20 20 30, WAY BEYOND THE A-E-D-P-A 40 GATE CONCOURSE. THIS IS WHAT THE 40 GATE CONCOURSE WOULD LOOK LIKE, UM, WITH THE SORT OF CENTRAL AREA WHERE EVERYBODY CONNECTS TO AND FROM. AND THEN, UM, THE WINGS OFF TO THE SIDE, IT'S A LINEAR, UM, CONFIGURATION THAT IS AN OPTIMAL, UH, LEVEL OF, OF DESIGN NEXT. SO THIS REALLY JUST GIVES, AGAIN, IF COMMISSIONER MODAL IS HERE, I KNEW HE WOULD LOVE THIS IMAGE. SO I I DID THIS ONE FOR HIM, . UM, BUT IT ALSO REPRESENTS THE ROADS THAT ARE AROUND. THOSE ARE THE ROADS THAT, UM, THE TUG TUNNEL TAKES AND OTHER, UM, OTHER VEHICLES WOULD TAKE. THERE'S TWO ROADS AND SO IT ALLOWS A CLOSEUP ROAD AND A FAR UP ROAD. AND THEN THIS IMAGE ALSO REPRESENTS THE FACT THAT WE HAVE TWO DIFFERENT, UM, ROADS FOR THE PLANES. THEY'RE CALLED GROUP. UM, SO WE HAVE A GROUP THREE AND A AND A GROUP FIVE. SO THOSE ARE DIFFERENT SIZES OF PLANES. AND SO IT ALLOWS BOTH THOSE PLANES TO MANEUVER BACK AND FORTH AND STILL BE CLEAR. SO THIS KIND OF SHOWS YOU HOW MUCH SPACE YOU WOULD NEED AND WHY WE CAN'T, UM, GROW THE BJT AND WIDTH UNTIL THIS APRON AND THESE TWO NEW, UM, ROADS KIND OF ARE SET OUT SO THAT THERE'S ENOUGH MANEUVERABILITY FROM THE PLANES ON BJT TO PUSH BACK AND STILL CROSS AND, UM, BE WITHIN THE TWO TERMINALS. NEXT. SO THIS IS A, JUST A GRAPHIC TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND HOW WE'RE BREAKING UP THE BUILDING WITH KIND OF NODES. UM, THERE'S THAT CENTRAL NODE THAT WILL COME UP FROM THE CONNECTOR. THERE'LL BE EVERYTHING FROM RESTROOMS AND CONCESSIONS TO A MEZZANINE WITH A CLUB, UM, IN THAT AREA. THAT WILL BE A GREAT CLUB WITH AN AMAZING VIEW OF EVERYTHING. UM, AND THEN THERE'S NODES THAT [00:30:01] HAVE RESTROOMS AND CONCESSIONS, AND THEN THERE'S NODES FOR HOLD GROUPS. SO WE'RE BREAKING UP THE SORT OF RECTANGLE IN THESE AREA NODES. AND THAT'S, WE'VE MADE IT A VERY, UM, MODULE KIND OF SYSTEM SO THAT AS WE GROW, WE CAN JUST CONTINUE TO ADD ON DIFFERENT NODES. NEXT, STOP ME IF YOU HAVE A QUESTIONS IF I'M GOING TOO FAST SO I HAVE ANOTHER YEAH. UH, QUESTION OR REQUEST. BESIDES THE NORTH ARROW ON THE FIRST, UH, ACCIDENT METRIC, IT WOULD BE HELPFUL, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS IN THE PACKET FOR JANUARY 10TH PRESENTATION. MM-HMM. IF THESE, IF THESE SLIDES WERE DATED, SO WE KNOW, UH, THAT WE CAN TRACK THIS IS, THIS IS WHAT WE SAW ON JANUARY 10TH AND AS THEY EVOLVE OR CHANGE THAT, UM, WE CAN COMPARE THEM TO WHAT, SO YOU'RE ASKING LIKE FOR A FOOTNOTE ON EACH SLIDE WITH A DATE, IS THAT JUST A DATE SOMEWHERE? YEAH. OKAY. 'CAUSE I THOUGHT THE COVER, OH, THE COVER SAID JANUARY. OKAY, GREAT. GREAT. THAT'S, IS THAT ENOUGH ON THE COVER PAGE? IT DID SAY JANUARY PROBABLY. OKAY. BUT I JUST, I, I'M THINKING OF HOW, UH, UH, I, I'M AFRAID THAT THESE MAY BE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT AND IT'S JUST HELPFUL OKAY. TO HAVE, IF THERE'S A, WE CAN WORK ON SOMETHING SUPER, JUST SUPER SMALL EVEN WITH THE PAGE NUMBERS OR SOMETHING. YEAH, WE CAN WORK ON SOMETHING. THANK YOU. OKAY, NEXT. SO WE'LL FOCUS ON THE CONNECTOR NOW. NEXT. SO AGAIN, THIS IS, UM, THE TOTAL CONNECTOR, UM, THAT SHOWS THE OPTIMAL PLAN IS TO GO STRAIGHT ACROSS, UM, FROM ONE SIDE TO THE NEXT. UM, NEXT. OKAY. THIS IS A CONCEPTUAL DRAWING THAT SHOWS YOU THAT IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT PEOPLE. SO THIS CONNECTOR HAS MANY DIFFERENT THINGS. THERE ARE WHAT WE CALL CELLS. SO THERE'S A BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM CELL, SORRY, WE DIDN'T GET THAT SPELLED OUT IN TIME. THERE'S THE PASSENGER CELL AND THERE'S A UTILITY CELL. SO THE UTILITY CELL HAS EVERYTHING FROM, UM, CHILLED WATER PIPES FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM TO TO ACTUAL, UH, WATER POWER, SANITARY LINES, ALL OF THOSE THINGS. IT'S A CELL THAT WE CAN OCCUPY AND MAINTAIN, UH, EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY, UH, AS WELL AS A BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM CELL. THERE'LL BE A NEW CELL THAT WE CAN OCCUPY AND MOVE BAGGAGES AROUND. THE REALLY, UM, GREAT THING ABOUT THIS IMAGE IS IT SHOWS YOU THAT WE'RE DESIGNING THE PASSENGER CELL TO HAVE MOVING WALKWAYS. SO THOSE WALKWAYS THAT YOU STAND ON, AND IT TAKES YOU ALONG ON BOTH SIDES AS WELL AS ROOM FOR CARTS TO ADDRESS THE MOBILITY ISSUES AS WELL AS ROOM FOR PEOPLE. UM, IF YOU, UM, LOVE HIKING AND BIKING DOWNTOWN, THAT WIDTH FOR PEOPLE ALONE IS A LOT WIDER. IT'S NEARLY DOUBLE, UH, MANY OF THOSE HIKE AND BIKE TRAILS. SO IT'S QUITE WIDE. UM, NEXT TO GIVE YOU A, A LITTLE BETTER IMAGE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT WIDTH LOOKS LIKE. WE HAVE A LITTLE RENDERING THAT SHOWS PEOPLE IN THE MOVING WALKWAYS. SO YOU CAN SEE HOW WIDE THIS, UM, CELL REALLY IS NEXT. AND SO TO TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE PHASING OF THIS, UM, YOU ASK ABOUT THE TIMING. SO THE PROCUREMENT NORMALLY, UM, HIS CITY RECORDS HISTORICALLY WE'RE ABOUT NINE MONTHS IN PROCUREMENT FROM THE MINUTE WE START WORKING ON THE PROCUREMENT TO WHEN THE NTP, THE NOTICE TO PROCEED IS ISSUED. SO IT'S A LONG TIME. EVERYTHING FROM DOING THE PROCUREMENT DOCUMENTS TO RECEIVING THE DOCUMENTS, TO SCORING THOSE DOCUMENTS, TO HAVING INTERVIEWS, TO HAVING AN RCA TO GOING TO COUNCIL, TO DOING ADDITIONAL WORK AND NEGOTIATING A A, AN ACTUAL RATE AND AN ACTUAL A PROPOSAL AND GIVING A NOTICE TO PROCEED TO THE DESIGNER. SO THAT'S HISTORICALLY ABOUT NINE MONTHS. WE'RE PUSHING FOR MUCH FASTER, BUT THAT'S WHAT THAT GREEN BOX IS. AND THEN THERE, THERE'S THE DESIGN PHASE. AND BECAUSE THIS PROJECT IS A CON CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK, YOU SEE AN OVERLAP WITH CONSTRUCTION. SO THERE'LL BE SOME EARLY PACKAGES THAT ARE COMING OUT, SITE WORK, UTILITY WORK, YOU KNOW, MOVING DIRT, THAT KIND OF THING THAT THEY'LL START DOING BEFORE THE DESIGN IS FINISHED. AND THAT HELPS EXPEDITE THE OVERALL PROJECT. AND SO YOU SEE THAT OVERLAP AND THEN YOU SEE THE CONSTRUCTION. SO THE, UM, DESIGN SHOULD START ABOUT THIS FALL AND THAT'S WHEN THAT BLUE LINE WOULD START. THE CONSTRUCTION WOULD END IN ABOUT 2030. SO THAT GIVES YOU A WHOLE TIMEFRAME OF HOW LONG THESE BARS ARE. DESIGN MAY TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 18 MONTHS TO TWO YEARS. UM, WE'RE HANDING THE DESIGNER, UM, SOME PRELIMINARY DESIGN DOCUMENTS THAT WILL HELP EXPEDITE THAT TWO YEAR TIME TO POTENTIALLY 18 MONTHS WHILE WE'RE WORKING THROUGH ALL OF THAT STILL. UM, AND THEN THE, THE CONSTRUCTION IS A REMAINING AMOUNT OF TIME. IT'S A VERY COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION [00:35:01] THAT HAS TO DO, UM, A LOT OF WORK AND MOVING PARTS AND COORDINATE WITH OPERATIONS, UM, WHILE WE'RE RUNNING AN AIRPORT. NEXT. I THINK THAT'S IT. THIS ONE DIDN'T PRINT VERY WELL, I THINK. YEP. I DON'T KNOW IF THE OTHER SLIDE PRINTED AT ALL. WELL, WE HAD A, WE HAD SOME FONT ISSUES 'CAUSE THE SLIDE DECK WAS SO MANY MEGABYTES, IT DIDN'T QUITE TRANSLATE WELL WHEN IT GOT CONVERTED TO A PDF. BUT, UM, ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONCOURSE AND THE CONNECTOR COMMISSIONERS? I DO NOT SEE ANY. OH, YES. COMMISSIONER KUHN. I SEE A HAND RAISE. GO AHEAD. YEAH, SO IT SOUNDS LIKE THE, I I HEARD THE AFTER 2030 FOR THE CONCOURSE TO BE OPEN. WHAT WAS THE DATE WHEN WE THINK CONSTRUCTION STARTS? IF I BACK UP FROM THAT, JUST KIND OF SO THE CONSTRUCT, THE DESIGN. YEAH. THE DESIGN WOULD START THIS FALL AND WE'LL RUN ANYWHERE FROM 18 MONTHS TO TWO YEARS AND THEN WE WOULD START, THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF OVERLAP WITH THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. THEY'RE NOT END TO END. SO THAT'S WHY I SAY 18 MONTHS, THAT HELPS START THAT CONSTRUCTION WHILE THE DESIGN IS BEING FINISHED WITHIN THE TWO YEARS. AND THEN, UM, IT'S GONNA TAKE THEM THREE OR MORE YEARS TO BUILD THE BUILDING. OKAY. COMMISSIONER, I SEE COMMISSIONER ER'S HAND IS RAISED. I'M GONNA CALL ON COMMISSIONER FG FONG AND THEN YOU COMMISSIONER ALLER. THANKS, LANE. UM, CAN YOU REMIND ME IF THE RIDE SHARE AREA, IS IT PART OF THE DEVELOPMENT? UH, OR IS IT TEMPORARY? WHAT'S THE STATUS OF THAT? SO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT UM, THE RIDE SHARES, LIKE THE UBERS AND LYFTS? MM-HMM. . SO THAT SPACE CURRENTLY IS IN THE LOWEST LEVEL OF OUR, UM, PARKING GARAGE THAT HAS ALL OF THE, UM, RENTAL CARS, WHAT WE CALL THE CONRAD. CURRENTLY WE'RE SHOWING THAT THAT'S STAYING, WHEN WE BUILD THE NEW ARRIVALS DEPARTURE HALL AND THE NEW ROADWAY, IT WOULD BE A LOT CLOSER. SO, UM, EITHER NEXT MONTH OR IN MARCH, WE'LL BE PLANNING TO BRING THEIR RIVALS DEPARTURE HALL AND YOU'LL SEE SOME OF THAT CONNECTIVITY AND HOW THE GARAGE IS CLOSER. UM, AND SO THAT DISTANCE WILL SHRINK BECAUSE THE, THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING WILL GET PUSHED OUT SIGNIFICANTLY. UM, AND THE EXISTING RED GARAGE WILL BE CON BE DEMOLISHED AND THE NEW ARRIVALS DEPARTURE HALL WHERE YOU GO TO TICKETING, UM, AND THINGS LIKE THAT WILL, AND WHERE BAGGAGE CLAIM IS, WILL BE PUSHED OUT TOWARDS THOSE GARAGES UNDERSTOOD OF SO, BUT THE LOCATION, SO AS PART THE IS NOT GONNA CHANGE. CURRENTLY WE'RE NOT CHANGING IT. MM-HMM. , UM, THEY'RE GROWING, SO WE'LL SEE. AND AS, AS THAT HAPPENS, WE MAY DO SOMETHING ELSE, BUT AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, IT'S NOT PART OF THIS PROJECT AND IT'S NOT PART OF THE ARRIVALS DEPARTURE HALL EITHER. UM, SO CURRENTLY THE PLAN IS IT TO STAY THERE NOW, BUT AS THEY, AS THEIR NEEDS GROW, WE WILL, UM, EVALUATE AND ADJUST. OKAY. IS THAT THE GARAGE WHERE IT WAS NEXT TO? IS THAT THE RED GARAGE THAT WE WERE TRYING TO, THE GARAGE THAT THEY ARE IN IS NEXT TO THE BLUE GARAGE. OKAY. UM, AND IN THE OVERALL IMAGE, IF YOU HAVE YOUR PACKET, UM, YOU CAN GO GO TO THE MAIN PAGE OF THE PROGRAM, WHICH IS 40, PAGE 40, YOU GO TO PAGE 40. IT IS, UM, THE NEW, THE BRAND NEW GARAGE IS THAT DARK BLUE RECTANGLE. THE ONE THAT'S SORT OF IN WHITEISH GRAY IS THE EXISTING BLUE GARAGE. THE ONE NEXT TO IT, TO THE LEFT ON THE IMAGE IS THE, WHERE ALL THE RENTAL CARS AND THAT'S WHERE THE TNCS ARE AND THE LOWEST LEVEL. SO AS YOU SEE, WHEN WE BUILD THE NEW ARRIVALS OF PATROL, THEY'LL BE REALLY CLOSE. ALRIGHT. THANK YOU. WELL, ONE FOLLOW UP QUESTION. HAVE YOU, HAVE WE EVER RECEIVED ANY FEEDBACK FROM THE CUSTOMER THAT IS THE RIGHT SHARE AREA AND THE FORMAT WAS INCONVENIENT, THE SIGNS, THE HOW TO GET THERE, THE ELEVATION THERE WAS, YOU KNOW, THE COMPLICATION TO GET TO THAT POINT? YEAH, AND WE GET ALL KINDS OF FEEDBACK, BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FOR, UM, THAT LOCATION. UM, MANY OTHER AIRPORTS HAVE THE TNCS MUCH FURTHER AWAY. UM, AND WE HAVE PROVIDED A LITTLE, UM, SHUTTLE, IT'S LIKE A, A, UM, A LARGE GOLF CART. I CALL IT A DISNEY CART, UM, THAT ALLOWS YOU TO GET TO THAT, UM, NEW THAT, THAT AREA FOR THE TNCS. WE'VE ALSO GOTTEN SOME POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE COLOR CODING AND THE NUMBERING. SO, YOU KNOW, IT'S A, IT'S A EVER [00:40:01] EVOLVING AREA, BUT IF YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT THAT MORE, THAT'S NOT TECHNICALLY MY GROUP, WE CAN BRING IN, UM, PARKING OPERATIONS AND LANDSIDE OPERATIONS TO GIVE YOU A PRESENTATION IF YOU WANT. UM, MORE ABOUT THAT, MORE ABOUT THAT WHOLE AREA. OKAY. GOOD TO KNOW. THANK YOU SO MUCH. MM-HMM, . THANK YOU. F FUN. COMMISSIONER ELLER. I'VE USED THE SHUTTLE ON RIDESHARE AND AS JUST A POINT OF INFORMATION, THEY MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THEY EXPECT TO BE TIPPED AND THEY'RE NOT SHY ABOUT IT. HMM. THE QUESTION IS WHAT CAN WE DO AS A BODY TO HELP YOU SHRINK THE PROCUREMENT AND THE, AND THE DESIGN TIMELINE? IT'S A GREAT QUESTION. UM, WE CAN THINK ABOUT THAT AND GIVE YOU BACK THAT INFORMATION. UM, WE HAVE BEEN WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE PROCUREMENT OFFICE AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE, UM, WORKED WITH THEM ON TO HELP REDUCE THE TIMEFRAME IS HAVE DEDICATED TEAM THAT WORK ON THESE PROCUREMENTS. SO THERE IS A DEDICATED TEAM OF FIVE PEOPLE, A MANAGER AND FOUR PEOPLE THAT ARE BE WORKING ON ALL OF THESE PROCUREMENTS TO HELP, UM, US REDUCE THAT TIMELINE FOR PROCUREMENT. LIKE I SAID, WE'VE BUDGETED AND WE'VE PLANNED FOR THE TRADITIONAL NINE MONTHS. UM, WE'LL SEE IF WE CAN BEAT THAT. WELL, HISTORICALLY THERE'S NEVER BEEN A PROCUREMENT TIMELINE THAT COULDN'T BE SHRUNK. AND IF THAT MEANS WE NEED TO USE OUR COLLECTIVE WEIGHT AT A POLITICAL LEVEL TO UM, UH, LEAN A BIT ON THE, UH, STAFF SIDE, YOU SHOULD FEEL WELCOME TO REACH OUT AND DO THAT. THANK YOU COMMISSIONERS. ARE THERE OTHER QUESTIONS? UH, COMMISSIONER YOUNG. HELLO LEE, I HAD A QUESTION ON PAGE 45 OF THE DOCUMENT. MM-HMM. , I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CALL THOSE, UH, SUBSECTIONS, BUT YOU SAID THAT WE HAD ROOM FOR GROWTH. HOW MUCH GROWTH CAN WE GET OUT OF THAT? SO THE OVERALL CONCOURSE, UM, LAYOUT ALLOWS US FOR 40 TOTAL GATES. THE CURRENT, UM, THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT HAS APPROVED US TO BUILD 20 GATES, UM, 20 MORE GATES, UM, OR A TOTAL OF 57 GATES ON CAMPUS. SO WE CAN BUILD CURRENTLY A TOTAL OF 57 GATES ON CAMPUS. UM, THE CONCOURSE CAN GO EVEN FURTHER. SO IF WE BUILD 20, WE CAN, WE CAN BUILD ANOTHER 20. UM, AND THAT'S WHAT CAN FIT IN THAT LINEAR SPACE FOR CONCOURSE BE. SO IT'S A, THE CONCEPT THAT WE'VE CAME UP IS A MODULE CONCEPT. SO IF WE BUILD, UM, 20 GATES AND NEED TO BUILD AN ADDITIONAL FIVE OR SIX AND THEN ANOTHER SIX, WE CAN DO THAT IN A VERY MODULE WAY WHERE WE CAN SAY, OKAY, THE NEXT MODULE IS NOW HOLD ROOMS. OKAY. THE NEXT MODULE IS NOW RESTROOMS. AND WE'VE WORKING ON, WE'VE WORKED ON A LAYOUT WHERE EVERY SO OFTEN IS, YOU KNOW, THERE'S A DISTANCE THAT EV IN, WITHIN THAT DISTANCE, THAT'S WHEN A BANK OF RESTROOMS HAS TO COME. ANOTHER DISTANCE IS WHEN THE BANK OF GATES HAS TO COME. AND IT'S ALL BASED ON THE FORECAST AND IT'S ALL BASED ON THE SIZES OF THE PLANES THAT ARE FORECAST AND BUILT IN THE MODEL. AND SO IT'S A, IT IT WILL, WE'RE HOPING IT WILL HELP EXPEDITE THE PROCUREMENT. WE'LL TALK TO THAT, UM, THAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR. CON CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK WILL HELP US EXPEDITE THE DELIVERY OF THIS, UM, CONCOURSE AND MODULARIZATION MAY BE ONE WAY TO DO THAT. THANK YOU. YOU'RE WELCOME. CAN I, UM, BACK TO THAT PROCUREMENT QUESTION, I JUST WANTED TO KIND OF ADD SOMETHING. UM, SO LYNN TALKED ABOUT THE EMBEDDED TEAM. WE HAVE HIRED CAPITAL CONTRACTING OFFICE. I'VE ALREADY HIRED THE MANAGER THAT IS GONNA BE IN CHARGE OF THAT, AND THEY ARE POSTING FOR THAT. I THINK THEY'VE ALREADY POSTED FOR FOUR OF THE POSITIONS. SO THEY'RE IN THE PROCESS OF HIRING FOR THOSE POSITIONS THAT WILL BE EMBEDDED WITH THE AIRPORT TEAM. THAT'S GREAT. THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION AND THANK YOU FOR THIS PRESENTATION. AND THANK YOU COMMISSIONERS FOR YOUR QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS. OF COURSE. I HAVE A FEW. THAT'S FINE. UM, IT LOOKS LIKE THE PASSENGER, WELL I GUESS I SHOULD BACK OFF BY SAYING BACK UP THE CONCOURSE, THE, THE CONNECTOR AND THE CONCOURSE ARE BEING BID AT AS ONE JOB, NOT TWO JOBS. IS THAT CORRECT? THAT IS CORRECT. ALTHOUGH I WOULD THINK THAT THE FIRM THAT DOES WHAT I, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU CALL IT, LIKE HORIZONTAL CONVEYANCE, LIKE THE PEOPLE THAT DO THE, THE RAMPS AND WHATEVER, THAT THEY'RE A DIFFERENT GROUP THAN WOULD DESIGN A TERMINAL PER SE. IS THAT, IS THAT FAIR? OR IS IT USUALLY, I WOULD SAY IT'S AN ADDITIONAL [00:45:01] SUB, JUST LIKE YOU WOULD HAVE AN ADDITIONAL SUB FOR A MECHANICAL SYSTEM OR ADDITIONAL SUB FOR, UM, LIGHTING CONTROLS. IT'S MUCH MORE TECHNICAL SUB, BUT IT'S AN ADDITIONAL SUB. WE, WE DID A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF ANALYSIS AND STUDYING AND DEBATING TO MAKE SURE WE DID IT RIGHT. MM-HMM AND REALLY THE RISK OF DISCONNECTING THE, THE CONNECTOR TO THE BUILDING WAS TOO HIGH. RIGHT. IT REALLY NEEDED TO BE UNDER ONE DESIGN TEAM AND UNDER ONE CONTRACTING TEAM ESPECIALLY, THERE IS A LOT OF, UM, MECHANICAL SYSTEMS THAT ARE GONNA HAVE TO TIE INTO EACH OTHER A LOT OF FIRE LIFE SAFETY SYSTEMS AND IT, THERE WAS JUST TOO MUCH RISK TO, TO DISCONNECT THOSE TWO PROJECTS. OKAY, THANK YOU. AND THEN FOR, UM, TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT, FOR SOME VISUALIZATION PURPOSES, IT LOOKS LIKE THE CONNECTOR WILL BE APPROXIMATELY LIKE 35 FEET, LET'S JUST SAY FOR THE PEDESTRIAN. UM, YOU KNOW, WHERE THE PASSENGERS WILL USE IT. UM, AT WHAT ELEVATION WILL THE CONCOURSE BE FOR THE NEW CONCOURSE BE? WILL IT MATCH THE ELEVATION OF THE EXISTING CONCOURSE OR WILL IT BE A DIFFERENT, WILL IT BE A GRADE? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE IT WILL BE. NO, SO IT'S A DIFFERENT, IT'S DIFFERENT THAN THE EXISTING CONCOURSE BECAUSE THE SITE SLOPES, UM, IF YOU WOULD DIS IF YOU WERE TO STAND WHERE THE NEW CONCOURSE IS GOING, IT'D BE WAY ABOVE YOUR HEAD. UM, SO BECAUSE OF THE SLIGHT SLOPES, IT'S A DIFFERENT ELEVATION. UM, AND SO ALMOST ABOVE YOUR HEAD, SO THE, THE CONNECTOR WILL HAVE VERTICAL CIRCULATION AND THAT'S WHY THERE'S THIS LITTLE BUMP OUT. UM, THE BLUE BUMP OUT INCLUDES THE VERTICAL CIRCULATION, A SET OF ESCALATORS AND ELEVATORS THAT WILL GET YOU FROM A LOW, A POTENTIAL LOWER LEVEL CONNECTOR ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CONCOURSE LEVEL. AND SO THE BJT AND THE CONCOURSE LEVEL MAY NOT BE THE EXACT SAME. UM, BUT ONE OF THE VERY FIRST THINGS THAT HNTB DID WAS SET ALL OF THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CONTROL LINES. THAT WAS A VERY BIG TASK AND A LOT OF SURVEYING WE DID IN ORDER TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW ALL OF THAT WOULD WORK BECAUSE WE ALSO HAVE TO, WHEN WE BUILD THE NEW APRON SPACE, IT HAS TO BE AT A CERTAIN FLAT LEVEL FOR THE PLANES AS WELL, UM, AS WELL AS WORK ON DRAINAGE. SO THERE'S A LOT OF COMPLEXITIES THERE. IT LOOKS REALLY SIMPLE ON A DIAGRAM, BUT IT'S, IT'S QUITE COMPLEX AND THERE'S A LOT OF CONCRETE THANK YOU FOR HIGHLIGHTING THAT. SO WE ARE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE DRAINAGE BASICALLY GOES TOWARDS THE COLORADO RIVER RATHER THAN IT GOES TO THE SHEDS TO THE, NOT DIRECTLY TO THE SOUTH, BUT TO THE SOUTHEAST. NOT EXACTLY, BUT IT SHEDS SOUTH. OKAY. FROM THE BJT SOUTH. OH, OKAY. MM-HMM. TOWARDS ONE EIGHT, UH, TOWARDS ONION CREEK, THEN NOT SORT OF, YEAH. OKAY. NOT DIRECTLY, BUT YEAH. BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF STORM DRAINAGE THAT WE'LL ALSO BE IN, IN ADDING TO AND IMPROVING. AND MY, MY LAST QUESTION IS APPROXIMATELY WHAT LENGTH WILL THE, THE CONNECTOR BE BETWEEN LET'S SAY THE ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURE HALL AND THE CONCOURSE? YEAH, GOOD QUESTION. SO THE LENGTH OF THE CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE FACE OF THE BJT AND THE FACE OF THE NEW CONCOURSE IS TWO AND A HALF FOOTBALL FIELDS OR ABOUT 900 FEET. UM, SO IT'S ROUGHLY TWO AND A HALF FOOTBALL FIELDS IN LENGTH END TO END. SO IT'S ROUGHLY ABOUT 900 FEET. UM, AND WE'VE DONE SOME STUDIES ON TIME, SO IF YOU JUST TO WALK THAT SECTION OF IT, IT'S ABOUT A TWO, TWO AND A HALF MINUTE WALK AT A 20 MINUTE MILE. SO IF YOU GO AND WALK YOUR DOG AND YOU'RE WALKING A 20 MINUTE MILE, TWO AND A HALF MINUTES, THAT'S THE LENGTH OF THE CONNECTOR THAT THE CONNECTOR FROM JUST THE CONNECTOR? JUST THE CONNECTOR. JUST THE CONNECTOR. SO I'M NOT, SINCE WE'RE NOT REALLY CLEAR ON THE PHASING RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD THE LENGTH BE? WILL THE BARBARA JORDAN TERMINAL THAT BUMP OUT WILL NOT HAPPEN BEFORE THE CONCOURSE IS OPEN? IS THAT WE DON'T KNOW THAT. OR DO YOU KNOW WHETHER THE, WE'RE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE PHASING. WILL THE BARBARA JORDAN TERMINAL BE BUMPED OUT? THE ARRIVALS IN DEPARTURE HALL BE EXTENDED TO THE NORTH PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF CONCOURSE BI SEE. OR AFTER CONCOURSE B THE, I SEE YOUR QUESTION, SORRY. YES. THE ARRIVALS DEPARTURE HALL WILL BE AFTER. RIGHT NOW IT'S, IT'S A, THEY'RE REALLY CLOSE IN TIME, BUT IT'S, IT'S AFTER. OKAY. UM, IT'S CRITICAL THAT THEY'RE NOT TOO FAR APART BECAUSE WE NEED MORE PROCESSING SPACE. WE NEED MORE, UM, QUEUING SPACE, MORE TICKET SPACE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE ADDITIONAL GATES. SO THEY'RE VERY CLOSE IN TIME. UM, BUT THERE'LL BE SOME EARLY GATES. UM, IT COULD BE SIX, IT COULD BE 10. [00:50:01] WE'RE STILL, WE'LL WORK THROUGH THAT WITH THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK THAT WE'LL OPEN FIRST. UM, AND THEN THEY'LL CONTINUE TO BUILD THE ADDITIONAL GATES. THE EIGHT, THE ARRIVALS DEPARTURE HALL WILL OPEN, AND THEN THE ADDITIONAL GATES, UM, WE'LL OPEN THE TOTAL 20. GREAT. NOW PLEASE REMIND US AGAIN WHEN THE SOLICITATION FOR THE CONCOURSE AND CONNECTOR WILL BE, SHOULD BE AT THE, UM, END OF THIS MONTH OR THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY. OKAY. CONGRATULATIONS, COMMISSIONERS. DO WE HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR LYNN? AND THANK YOU, UM, FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS, OTHER COMMISSIONERS. AND OUR LAST STAFF BRIEFING TODAY IS THE STATUS OF [6. Status of Department of Aviation Structure] THE DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION STRUCTURE. UM, COMMISSIONERS, WE RECEIVED TWO, UH, MEMOS OVER THE BREAK. ONE, OH, HERE THEY ARE ON THE SCREEN. THANK YOU. AND, UM, JASON ALEXANDER OR TRACY THOMPSON, WILL ONE OF YOU BE WILLING TO SPEAK TO THIS? ABSOLUTELY. GOOD AFTERNOON. THANK YOU COMMISSIONERS. JASON ALEXANDER, DEPUTY CHIEF OF AIRPORT AFFAIRS. UM, I WOULD DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE BACKUP STARTING ON PAGE 55. THAT KICKS OFF THE, THE FIRST OF TWO MEMOS THAT WE DID DISTRIBUTE TO THE COMMISSION OVER THE, UH, WINTER BREAK. UM, AND I'LL JUST READ OFF A COUPLE HIGHLIGHTS OF THAT. THESE MEMOS ANNOUNCE SOME PRETTY CRITICAL AND POSITIVE, UH, LEADERSHIP CHANGES AT THE DEPARTMENT, AS YOU ALL KNOW, AND PROBABLY SAW GLA BADI HAS BEEN, UM, APPOINTED OUR NEW INTERIM CEO. UH, SO SHE WILL BE TAKING THE PLACE OF JIM SMITH, WHO HAS BEEN HERE FOR, UH, JUST UNDER A YEAR. UM, FOLLOWING THAT, TAWANDA, UH, CORDONE IS NOW GONNA BE, SHE HAS BEEN APPOINTED OUR PERMANENT CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER. SHE WAS SERVING IN AN INTERIM CAPACITY FOR A WHILE. UH, FOLLOWING THAT PROMOTION, LAUREN LITNER, WHO WAS HERE BEFORE YOU LAST MONTH, HAS BEEN, UH, PROMOTED TO THE DEPUTY CHIEF, UH, WAN'S PRIOR ROLE. UM, YOU NOTED EARLIER, AND WE'D LIKE TO CONGRATULATE RAJEEV THOMAS FOR BEING APPOINTED TO THE CFO POSITION. THAT POSITION, UH, NOW REPORTS DIRECTLY TO THE CEO. AND SO TREJO IS NOW GONNA BE ACTING DEPUTY CHIEF OF FINANCE, UH, HOLDING RAJEEV'S PRIOR POSITION. TRACY, I WOULDN'T SAY SHE GOT A PROMOTION, SHE'S GOT AN EXPANDED PORTFOLIO, BUT, UM, SHE'S NOW GONNA BE THE CHIEF OVER OUR BUSINESS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS. SO SHE WILL BE, UH, OVERSEEING THE SAME PORTFOLIO THAT SHE DID BEFORE, ALONG WITH, UH, SOME OF OUR BUSINESS AND CONCESSIONS OPERATIONS. AND THEN I THINK LASTLY, RICK TI, WHO YOU ALL HAVE HEARD FROM BEFORE, UH, HE WAS OUR DEPUTY CHIEF OF IT AND HE'S NOW, UH, BEEN APPOINTED AS ACTING CHIEF FOR EXPERIENCE AND PERFORMANCE. AND THAT IS THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THOSE MEMOS. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THOSE FORWARD AND THANK YOU FOR TRYING TO SHARE THEM IN REAL TIME. WE APPRECIATE THAT. COMMISSIONERS, DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR JASON ALEXANDER AT THIS TIME? I'LL, I'LL JUST SAY CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYBODY, UH, WELL EARNED AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT TRACY, I DUNNO IF I CAN CONGRATULATE YOU , BUT, BUT, UH, GLAD TO HAVE YOU AND EVERYONE ON STAFF. OKAY. THANK YOU. UM, WE HAVE SOME DISCUSSION ITEMS COMING UP. UH, YES. OH, I'M SORRY. GO AHEAD. I, I KNOW IT'S BEEN THE AMBITION OF, UM, OF US AS, AS A COMMISSION TO BE VERY INTENTIONAL AROUND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF AT THE AIRPORT. AND SO I THINK IN THE, MAYBE THAT'S NOT ALWAYS HOW IT'S BEEN, BUT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT THAT IS HOW IT, HOW IT HAS EVOLVED AND CONTINUES TO BE. SO I'M EXCITED. WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THIS CONTINUATION OF THAT PARTNERSHIP AND WHAT LIES AHEAD. AND SO CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYBODY INVOLVED. UM, I WANT TO ECHO, UH, THOSE COMMENTS. THANK YOU. I'LL HAVE TO AGREE WITH COMMISSIONERS ELLIS AND RO AND, UH, SECRETARY ROSE AND, AND ALSO CONGRATULATE TRACY , UM, AND LYNN AND RAJEEV. AND, UM, I'LL BRING A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM FORWARD AT THE, AT THE END OF THE MEETING ABOUT THIS. OKAY. UM, TRACY THOMPSON, [Items 7 - 12 ] DO YOU WANNA BRIEF US ON SOME OF THESE ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION THAT WERE APPROVED ON CONSENT AT COUNSEL? YES, THEY'RE ALL NOTED, UM, IN YOUR AGENDA UNDER, UM, UH, DISCUSSION ITEMS STARTING WITH ITEM SEVEN THROUGH 12. AND, UH, IN THE INTEREST OF TIME, I WON'T READ ALL OF THEM, BUT YOU'LL, THESE ARE ALL THE, UM, COUNCIL ACTION ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY, RECENTLY BROUGHT TO THIS COMMISSION AND FOR RECOMMENDATION. AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SUPPORTING OUR INITIATIVES. UH, AS YOU CAN SEE ON, ON THE ITEMS HERE, THEY HAVE ALL BEEN APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL, UH, ON CONSENT AND REPEATING WHAT I JUST SAID. WE [00:55:01] REALLY SUPPORT AND APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT OF OUR ITEMS THAT GO TO COUNCIL, AND THAT IS ONE OF THE PRIMARY WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT US MOVING FORWARD IN EXPEDITING OUR PROGRAM IS TO ASK THE THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS FOR US TO ANSWERS THAT YOU CAN, UH, BE THOUGHTFUL WITH YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS IN DISCUSSING THEM IN CASE THERE'S EVER, YOU KNOW, A QUESTION OR AN ISSUE. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU COMMISSIONERS. ANY QUESTIONS? OKAY. UM, WE'RE MOVING ON TO WORKING GROUP UPDATES. [13. Update from the Acceleration Working Group] I KNOW THAT WE'VE HAD A BREAK AND UM, I'M KIND OF PUSHING YOU ALL ALONG WITH THAT, BUT, UM, WOULD SOMEONE FROM THE ACCELERATION WORKING GROUP LIKE TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE ABOUT WHAT YOUR FUTURE PLANS ARE? UM, YEAH, WE DON'T HAVE, UH, WE DON'T HAVE AN UPDATE OVER THE BREAK. UH, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY WE'D LIKE TO SEE IF THERE'S A WAY THAT WE COULD BE HELPFUL, UH, TO MAKE THINGS GO FASTER. UH, NOT SURE EXACTLY HOW TO DO THAT. ALSO CURIOUS TO UNDERSTAND IN ANOTHER MEETING, I'M CERTAINLY NOT ASKING TO PUT ANYBODY ON THE SPOT NOW, BUT SORT OF WHAT ARE THE, WHAT ARE ALL THE THINGS WE CAN DO IN BETWEEN NOW AND, YOU KNOW, AFTER 2030, BEFORE THE NEW CONCOURSE OPENS TO ADDRESS THE, THE CAPACITY ISSUES THAT WE HAVE? THANK YOU. AND, UM, I, I, UM, I, I GOT YOUR EMAIL COMMISSIONER KUHN AND UM, I AM INTERESTED IN BRINGING A RECOMMENDATION FORWARD EARLY THIS YEAR IN SUPPORT OF WHATEVER YOU COME UP WITH, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, IT WOULD BE SUPER HELPFUL IF THOSE OF YOU ON THE ACCELERATION WORKING GROUP WOULD LOOK REALLY CLOSELY AT ANY ACTION ITEMS THAT COME FROM STAFF. NOT, AND I MEAN, I KNOW WE DISCUSSED THAT WE SUPPORT THEM, BUT I THINK THEY NEED TO BE LOOKED AT CLOSELY. MAYBE THERE ARE WAYS OR IDEAS THAT YOU HAVE TO EXPEDITE THEM IN A MORE TIMELY FASHION. THANK YOU. UM, AND THEN FOR THE OPPORTUNITY WORKING GROUP [14. Update from the Opportunity Working Group] F FONG OR BAKARI OR JEREMY, WHO WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO THAT? OH, VICE CHAIR BROCK. UH, HAPPY TO TRY TO QUICKLY, UM, AS SOME OF THE PATIENT MIGHT BE AWARE, WE'VE AGREED TO DO A BIT OF CUSTOMER DISCOVERY TOWARDS THE END OF THIS MONTH. I BELIEVE IT'S THE 25TH OF JANUARY. UH, AND FROM THERE WE INTEND ON AT LEAST PROVIDING RECOMMENDATION IF NOT, UH, FEBRUARY BY, BY THE MARCH MEETING. THAT'S GREAT NEWS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND THANK YOU ALL MEMBERS OF THE WORKING GROUP. I KNOW IT'S A COMMITMENT TO BE HERE ON, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, UM, ONCE A MONTH AND THEN ALSO FOR THE EXTRA TIME THAT YOU'RE ALL FOCUSING ON THE AIRPORT. I APPRECIATE THAT. UM, WE ARE NOW UP TO FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS, [FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS] COMMISSIONERS. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO BRING FORWARD? I HAVE A NUMBER OF THEM TO INTERRUPT THAT, UM, THE, THE CONVERSATION, THE COMMISSIONER FROM THE PHONE BROUGHT UP IS CLOSE TO MY HEART TO SOME DEGREE. AND SO, YOU KNOW, WHEN NOT APPROPRIATE, IT WOULD BE GREAT TO, UH, RECEIVE A BRIEFING FROM THE APPROPRIATE TEAMS THAT ARE CONCERNED ABOUT, YOU KNOW, EVERYTHING, UH, FROM WAYFINDING TO KIND OF CONGESTION, UH, AS IN, IN RELATION TO THE, THE OVERALL PROJECT. IS THAT FOR, FOR TO, WELL, I'M, I'M GONNA, HOW ABOUT IF I MAKE A LIST OF FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS AND IF, IF YOU WOULDN'T MIND HELP HELPING ME CLARIFY THAT AND THIS WAY IS, WOULD, WOULD IT BE PERMISSIBLE FOR, FOR ME TO MAKE A LIST OF FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS AND WE CAN BATCH THEM AND APPROVE THEM, MAKE A MOTION? I'M GONNA MOVE THAT WE'LL HAVE THE FOLLOWING FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS. I THOUGHT I HAD WRITTEN DOWN RIDE SHARING, UH, WAY FINDING. BUT IF IT PERTAINS TO THE ENTIRE, UM, A EXPANSION PROGRAM, DO YOU PREFER THAT OR DO YOU WANT IT SPECIFIC TO PRIVATE RIDE SHARES? I, I THINK TO, TO BE ENCOMPASSING AND NOT JUST COVER THE TNCS BUT THE, YOU KNOW, SORT OF GROUND TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY TO BE, UM, VERY OBJECTIVE WOULD BE GREAT. AGAIN, IT SOUNDS LIKE FROM THE PREVIOUS BRIEFING, WE'RE NOT AT THAT DESIGN PHASE YET, BUT WHEN APPROPRIATE IT WOULD BE GREAT TO BETTER UNDERSTAND, YOU KNOW, THE THINKING BEHIND IT INTO THE ULTIMATE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. OKAY, GREAT. SO I'M GONNA MOVE THE FOLLOWING A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM ABOUT, UM, MOBILITY WAY FINDING, INCLUDING HIGHLIGHTING THE RIDESHARE. SO IF RIDESHARE COMES FIRST, THAT'S GREAT. OTHERWISE, JUST A GENERAL PRESENTATION ABOUT WAYFINDING FOR THE NEW, FOR THE EXPANSION. UM, SO THAT'S ITEM ONE. ITEM TWO IS ABOUT, UH, PEDESTRIAN AND, UH, VEHICULAR SAFETY, UH, EARLIER TODAY. [01:00:01] TO GIVE A LITTLE BACKGROUND, UH, JASON ALEXANDER AND I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH THE AUSTIN TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND VISION ZERO ABOUT WHAT KINDS OF PARTNERSHIPS THE AIRPORT CAN HAVE WITH, UH, THE CITY'S VISION ZERO PROGRAM, BUT MOSTLY WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THEIR SAFETY. UM, SO THERE'LL BE A, I WOULD LIKE TO WORK ON A, A, A RECOMMENDATION AND IF ANYONE'S INTERESTED IN HELPING ME, LET ME KNOW. UM, BUT ABOUT PUBLIC SAFETY, NOT POLICE FIRE EMS, BUT JUST INDIVIDUAL SAFETY, GETTING TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT WHEN THERE'S A TRAFFIC EVENT, CONGESTION OR, UM, JUST KIND OF WALKING FROM YOUR CAR OR YOUR RENTAL CAR TO THE TERMINAL, THAT KIND OF SAFETY. UM, THE, AND THE THIRD ONE IS ABOUT THE, UH, PERSONNEL AND STAFFING WOULD BE, UM, THE REQUEST FOR AN, AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHART, BUT ALSO THE RECOGNITION OF, UM, MR. SMITH'S CONTRIBUTIONS AND ALL THE STAFF PROMOTIONS AND NEW HIRES. WE HAVEN'T SEEN AN ORG CHART LATELY. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S BEING KIND OF FLESHED OUT NOW. AND, UM, IT WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR US MOVING FORWARD IF WE UNDERSTOOD THE STRUCTURE IN A, IN A COHESIVE WAY. SO WE HAVE SOMETHING ABOUT MOBILITY, SAFETY, STAFF RECOGNITION, AND AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHART. AND THEN MY FOURTH ITEM WOULD HAVE TO DO WOULD BE AN UPDATE ON THE RAMP CONTROL PROJECT. DO I HAVE A SECOND ON THOSE FOUR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS? UM, THANK YOU SECRETARY ROSE. UM, ALL, ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? AM I MISSING ANY FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS? COMMISSIONERS? OKAY, THANK YOU. ALL IN FAVOR OF THOSE FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS COMING FORWARD IN THE NEXT, IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH? UM, AYE. AYE. THANK YOU. I IT'S UNANIMOUS FOR THOSE PRESENT IN, IN PERSON AND ON SCREEN. OKAY. THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH, 2024. PINK OR RED, OPTIONAL FOR VALENTINE'S DAY. UM, I MIGHT BRING CANDY LIKE I DID FOR THE HOLIDAYS LAST MONTH. UM, AND I AM GONNA ASK IF ANYONE HAS ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS OR ANYTHING TO MAKE TO THE BOARD BEFORE WE ADJOURN. WELL, THANK YOU. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE AND THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. THANK YOU STAFF FOR THESE EXCELLENT PRESENTATIONS. WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT AND LOOK FORWARD TO, UH, GETTING SOME STUFF DONE IN 2024. WITH THAT, IF THERE IS NO OBJECTION, THIS MEETING IS ADJOURNED. * This transcript was created by voice-to-text technology.
