I AM LESLIE POOLE, MAYOR PRO TEM, THE CITY OF AUSTIN, AND WE ARE HERE, UM, ON MONDAY DECEMBER 23RD, 2024.

IT IS 10:00 AM AND I WILL CALL THIS SPECIAL CALL MEETING TO ORDER HERE AT CITY HALL CHAMBERS.

I AM JOINED, UH, BY COUNCIL MEMBER CADRE AND CONVENING THIS SPECIAL CALLED MEETING UNDER STATE LAW.

ONLY TWO COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE NECESSARY FOR A QUORUM TO CANVAS AN ELECTION THERE BEING THE NECESSARY QUORUM OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL TO CANVAS THE ELECTION.

I CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER MONDAY, DECEMBER 23RD, 2024 AT 10:00 AM AND WE ARE MEETING IN CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 3 0 1 WEST SECOND STREET.

DO WE HAVE ANYBODY ATTENDING VIRTUALLY? I THINK IT IS JUST COUNCIL MEMBER CADRE AND ME.

AND, LET'S SEE.

OKAY, WE WILL NOW TAKE UP ITEM NUMBER ONE

[1. Approve a resolution canvassing the results of the December 14, 2024, runoff election. Funding: This item has no fiscal impact. ]

TO APPROVE A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RESULTS OF THE DECEMBER 14TH, 2024 RUNOFF ELECTION FOR COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT SEVEN, AND I WILL READ THE RESULTS INTO THE RECORD.

IN THE RUNOFF ELECTION, THE RETURNS OF THE ELECTION SHOW THERE WERE 4,211 VOTES FOR GARY L BLEDSOE AND 4,420 VOTES FOR MIKE SIEGEL WITH MIKE SIEGEL RECEIVING A MAJORITY OF ALL VOTES CAST FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT SEVEN.

BEFORE WE TAKE THE MOTION, I WILL ASK THE CLERK, IS ANYONE SIGNED UP TO SPEAK ON THIS ITEM? NO.

MAYOR, PRETEND WE DO NOT HAVE ANY SPEAKERS.

I'LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION ON ITEM ONE AND I RECOGNIZE COUNCIL MEMBER CADRE WHO MAKES THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE CANVAS OF THESE VOTES.

AND I WILL SECOND THAT MOTION.

I'M GOING TO READ THE MOTION TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE IT CORRECT.

COUNCIL MEMBER CADRE MOVES THAT WE APPROVE THE RESOLUTION, CANVASSING AND ACCEPTING THE RETURNS FOR THE DECEMBER 14TH, 2024 RUNOFF ELECTION DECLARING MIKE SIEGEL IS ELECTED TO DISTRICT SEVEN.

WE HAVE THAT MOTION BY COUNCIL MEMBER CADRE, SECONDED BY THE MAYOR PRO TEM, ME AND IS THERE ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? NO FURTHER DISCUSSION.

ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

AND ALL OPPOSED SAY NO.

THAT BEING UNANIMOUS, AS AN AYE, THE MOTION PASSES ON A VOTE OF TWO TO ZERO AND THE RESOLUTION IS APPROVED.

AND THAT CONCLUDES THE BUSINESS THAT WE HAD IN FRONT OF US TODAY.
