UM, UH, IN EARLY JULY I WENT TO MANHATTAN, PARTLY OUTTA CURIOSITY TO SEE THE TWO TALLEST RESIDENTIAL TOWERS IN THE WORLD.

AND, UH, THEY'RE ON THE LEFT AND, AND THE RIGHT OF THE PICTURE.

YOU MIGHT ALSO NOTICE THAT THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT SIZE OF BUILDINGS BECAUSE ALL KINDS OF BUILDINGS CAN EXIST TOGETHER IN A DOWNTOWN AREA IN HARMONY.

UM, I'M MOSTLY HERE TO TALK ABOUT DATA-DRIVEN DECISION MAKING, BUT START, WANTED TO START OFF WITH THIS BECAUSE SOMETIMES A, A PICTURE REALLY IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS.

UM, SO AGAIN, WHEN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT UNO, I WAS HAPPY TO SUGGEST THAT IF WE WANTED TO GO FROM GUADALUPE TO, UH, TO LAMAR AT 600 FEET, THAT WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE TO ME BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN ACCESS TO PUBLIC TRANSIT AND SOME PEOPLE ARE MORE FOCUSED ON ACCESS TO PARK SPACE.

UM, I'M A NEIGHBOR OF THE PROPERTY CONSIDERED FOR REZONING FOR 16 YEARS.

I'VE LIVED AT THE CORNER OF SO WILSON AND BEDFORD STREETS, UH, DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE AUSTIN CAN ACADEMY.

THEY'VE BEEN A GOOD NEIGHBOR AS I HOPE I HAVE BEEN TO.

UH, CHANGE IS HARD, BUT I'M NOT RESISTANT TO APPROPRIATE CHANGES.

THERE'S MUCH THAT I LIKE ABOUT THE APPLICANT'S PROPOSAL FOR THE PROPERTY, ESPECIALLY THAT THEY'RE PURSUING A REHAB TAX CREDIT PROJECT.

AS A PRESERVATIONIST MYSELF AND AS SOMEONE WHO PREVIOUSLY REVIEWED FEDERAL TAX CREDIT PROJECTS FOR THE STATE, I UNDERSTAND THE WORK AND COMMITMENT THAT TAKES AND I APPRECIATE THE WILLINGNESS TO PRESERVE A PART OF EAST AUSTIN'S HISTORY.

UM, IN THE VIRTUAL MEETING THIS JUNE, WHICH I WASN'T ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN, BUT I, I WATCHED SUBSEQUENTLY, THE APPLICANT STATED THEIR INTENTION TO BUILD RESIDENTIAL UNITS ALONG SUL WILSON AND BEDFORD STREETS.

I ALSO SUPPORT THIS COMPONENT OF THE PROJECT AS IT DOES, AS DOES THE ROSEWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD CONTACT TEAM.

SINCE IT'S ALREADY ZONED FOR THIS, GIVEN THAT THIS SECTION OF THE PROPERTY IS ALREADY ZONED RESIDENTIAL AND THE APPLICANTS STATED THAT THEY WOULD BUILD TO MATCH THAT ZONING IN THIS AREA OF THE PROPERTY, I SEE NO REASON TO CHANGE THE ZONING ALONG BEDFORD AND WILSON STREETS, BEDFORD.

AND SO WILSON STREETS ARE WITHIN THE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED SEPARATELY FROM THE PARTS OF THE PROPERTY ALONG HARGRAVE AND ROSEWOOD, UM, WHICH ARE BUSINESS, MORE TRANSIT FRIENDLY, MORE BUSINESS FRIENDLY STREETS.

SO I HOPE THAT THE CITY WILL RECONSIDER THEIR RECOMMENDATION AND THAT WE'RE ABLE TO GET SOMEWHERE WITH THE APPLICANT IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS DURING THIS POSTPONEMENT.

I WOULD APPRECIATE IF THE APPLICANT CAN CONSIDER CURB CUTS AND WHAT IS APPROPRIATE ALONG BEDFORD.

AND SO WILSON STREETS, I I WOULD LIKE THERE TO BE A COMPROMISE SOLUTION WHERE PARTS OF THE PARCEL IS SEPARATE AND NOT CONSIDERED FOR THE REZONING.

SO WE ARE IN SUPPORT OF ONGOING DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE, WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

UM, WE HAVE TWO MAJOR, UH, CONCERNS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR, UH, ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION, NEITHER OF WHICH ARE RELATED TO THE, UH, TO THE ACTIONS OR THE, THE PLANS OF INTERVAL CARE AND THEIR PARTNERS.

UM, FIRST OF ALL, THE, THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE CORNER OF COLLIER AND SOUTH LAMAR HAS BEEN UNDER PLANNED FOR AT LEAST A DECADE.

UM, WE HAD, AS I SAID, THE APPROVAL OF 1700 SOUTH LAMAR, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE A TRAFFIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT.

WE HAVE A DEVELOPMENT NOW ACROSS THE STREET FROM THAT THAT ALSO DOES NOT REQUIRE A TRAFFIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT WE'RE TOLD.

UH, WHEN WE SENT THE LETTER OF SUPPORT, WE WERE TOLD THAT THAT LIGHT WOULD BE COMPLETED SOMETIME IN 2026.

UM, I WILL SAY AGAIN THAT, THAT MS. BOJO AND TEAM HAVE BEEN WORKING WELL WITH US IN TRYING TO COME UP WITH SOME MITIGATIONS.

BUT WE ASK AGAIN AS THE COMMITTEE OR AS THE COMMISSION MAKES A RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE THAT THEY CONSIDER THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE 1504 COLLIER A TRIGGERING PROPERTY FOR, UH, THE COMMUNITY COMPATIBILITY.

OTHER THAN THAT, AGAIN, I WANT TO THANK, UH, MS. BOJO AND HER TEAM FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO, TO WORKING WITH US AS NEIGHBORS.
