THEY BOUGHT SOME NEW MV ONE TYPE CARS THAT ONCE I PUT MY WHEELCHAIR IN AND I'M VERY SKILLED, THEY COULDN'T SHUT THE DOOR AND, AND PUT ON, PUT THE RAMP INSIDE WITH THESE ONES THAT WERE LIKE THE MV ONES THERE.
ANOTHER THING IS THAT, UM, THEY NOW CHARGE THREE 50 FOR MASS, FOR PARA TRANSIT.
EVERY TIME YOU GET ON, YOU CAN PAY CASH OR YOU CAN PAY THROUGH THEIR APP, THROUGH THEIR UH, APP.
BUT ALSO, UM, WHILE THEY'RE DOING THAT LIKE SAN ANTONIO BY ENCOURAGING US TO USE A FIXED ROUTE, IT IS ALWAYS FREE FOR A PERSON WHO'S METRO ACCESS CLIENT.

UM, REALLY MAKING SURE THE VISION PLAN HAS AN A VERY AMBITIOUS GOAL, UM, OF IMPROVING OUR ENVIRONMENT AND TURNING CAP METRO INTO A CARBON NEUTRAL AGENCY BY 2040.
UM, AND WE'LL ACHIEVE THIS BY BOTH REDUCING OUR OWN CARBON EMISSIONS, UM, AS WELL AS DISPLACING AND AVOIDING CARBON EMISSIONS BY, UM, IMPROVING TRANSIT RIDERSHIP.
I OFTEN SAY THE BEST THING CAP METRO CAN DO FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IS GET PEOPLE OUTTA THEIR CARS AND ONTO THE BUSES AND TRAINS.
AND SO WE ARE ALSO LOOKING TO DO THAT, BUT THEN ALSO MITIGATING CARBON EMISSIONS BY PLANTING TREES, MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE, UM, I IMPLEMENTING SOLAR GENERATION WHERE IT MAKES SENSE AND, AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
UM, SO OUR SUSTAINABILITY VISION PLAN, UM, HAS A NUMBER OF, UM, ACTION AREAS THAT YOU SEE HERE.
WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING AT, UM, A LOT OF, OF KIND OF THE SMALL PIECES THAT, THAT GO TO THIS.
YOU KNOW, OFTEN WHEN PEOPLE THINK OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY VISION PLAN, THE NUMBER ONE THING WE THINK OF FIRST IS OUR FLEET, UM, AND OUR FACILITIES.
AND OBVIOUSLY THOSE ARE IMPORTANT.
UM, BUT YOU KNOW, AS WE'VE, UM, THIS FISCAL YEAR JUST LAUNCHED THIS FISCAL YEAR, TWO OF THE CONTRACTS YOU'VE ALREADY APPROVED AS A BOARD, UM, THE HYBRID BUS CONTRACT THAT WAS APPROVED TODAY AS WELL AS OUR WASTE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT THAT WAS ON THE CONSENT AGENDA ARE BOTH IMPORTANT PARTS OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY VISION PLAN AS WE LOOK TO LOWER THE EMISSIONS OF THE FLEET THAT WE OPERATE, BUT ALSO HAVE A MORE ZERO WASTE ENVIRONMENT.
UM, SO WE WILL BE CONTINUING OVER THE COURSE OF THIS FISCAL YEAR TO LOOK AT ALL OF THE AREAS, UM, WITH THE HOPE OF PROBABLY HAVING AN UPDATE TO OUR, OUR VISION PLAN LATE THIS FISCAL YEAR OR EARLY NEXT FISCAL YEAR.
UM, IT'S BEEN A NUMBER OF YEARS SINCE THIS BOARD ADOPTED THAT PLAN AND WE FEEL LIKE WE'VE LEARNED A LOT IN THE INTERVENING TIME AND WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT WE'VE GOT AN UP TO DATE PLAN.
UM, BUT WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING TO MAKE SURE THAT THE THINGS THAT WE DO AS AN ENTITY, UM, ARE SUPPORTIVE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT AND THAT WE RECOGNIZE THAT, UM, UH, THINGS LIKE ENERGY CONSERVATION ARE NOT JUST GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, THEY'RE ALSO GOOD FOR THE BOTTOM LINE.

UM, AND ALSO OUR POLICE CHIEF CHIEF BOWIE REPRESENTED CAP METRO TO AN ACCEPT AN AWARD ON BEHALF OF THE AGENCY

FROM THE AUSTIN NAACP DURING THEIR RECENT GALA EVENT.UM, AND THEN LASTLY, I'VE BEEN OUT AND ABOUT A BIT TOO.
IT WAS MY INCREDIBLE HONOR TO RETURN TO MY ALMA MATER.
I RECEIVED MY MASTER'S DEGREE FROM ST.
EDWARDS, UM, AND LAST FRIDAY IT WAS MY HONOR TO DELIVER TO THEM THEIR COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS, UM, ADDRESSING THE FALL 2025 GRADUATES.
AND AT THAT CEREMONY I WAS FURTHER HONORED TO BE TO RECEIVE AN HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM ST.
SO THAT WAS ACTUALLY QUITE AMAZING.
AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, IT IS THE HOLIDAY SEASON.
SO WE WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU SOME OF OUR CAT METRO ELF SIGHTINGS.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES OF YEAR BECAUSE IT GIVES US AN EXCUSE REALLY TO JUST GO OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN WITH OUR CUSTOMERS.
UM, AND SO THE CAT METRO ELVES, YOU'LL SEE THEM THERE IN THEIR REINDEER HEADBANDS, THEIR REINDEER EARS SHARING CAT METRO GOODIES WITH OUR CUSTOMERS THROUGHOUT, UM, THE SEASON, UM, THROUGHOUT OUR SERVICE AREA.
SO WE'VE BEEN OUT SINCE THE START OF THE MONTH AND WE STILL HAVE A FEW MORE, UM, ACTIVATIONS WHERE WE'LL BE OUT SHARING, UM, AND SPREADING THE CHEER.
WE ALSO HAVE, UM, OUR, UH, ONE OF OUR TRAINS AND BUSES DECORATED FOR THE SEASON AS WELL.
UM, SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THEM YET, I, UM, ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THEM THIS YEAR.
WE HAVE A GINGERBREAD THEME, UM, AND ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE WAY THE VEHICLES LOOK DRESSED UP AS GINGERBREAD HOUSES.
I FEEL LIKE THIS MIGHT BE MY FAVORITE ONE YET, WHICH IS TOUGH TO BEAT BECAUSE THOSE LITTLE BLUE CAP MATERIAL ELVES WERE, ARE STILL PRETTY AMAZING.
SO, UM, I WANT TO CONCLUDE THIS MEETING BY JUST THANKING THIS BOARD FOR A WONDERFUL YEAR IN WISH EACH OF YOU A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
