STOPS WITH ZERO TO 14 RIDERS ARE CLASSIFIED AS A LEVEL ONE STOP AND PULLS WITH SIGNAGE AND STAND SIGNAGE, UM, ARE STANDARD AT THESE STOPS AS THEY ARE AT ALL BUS STOPS. UM, FOR STOPS WITH MODERATE RIDERSHIP BETWEEN 15 AND 49 RIDERS, WE CLASSIFY THOSE AS LEVEL TWO WHERE BENCHES, [00:40:01] UM, AND WAIST RECEPTACLES ARE STANDARD. AND THEN AT LEVEL THREE, OUR HIGHEST RIDERSHIP TIER WITH MORE THAN 50 RIDERS, OUR STANDARDS DICTATE BENCHES, WASTE RECEPTACLES AND SHELTERS. UM, ONE THING TO NOTE IS THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE MORE WASTE RECEPTACLES THAN WE CAN FEASIBLY MAINTAIN. UM, AND SO THE STANDARDS FOR WASTE RECEPTACLES ARE SOMETHING THAT WE'D LIKE TO UPDATE AND WE'VE BEEN WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH OUR FACILITIES TEAM TO DEVELOP A MORE DYNAMIC STANDARD THAT BOTH MEETS THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY, UM, AS WELL AS OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM. AND ALL OF OUR STANDARDS ARE SOMETHING THAT WE WORK VERY HARD TO MEET, UM, BUT THEY'RE ALSO VERY CONTEXT SENSITIVE IN NATURE. FOR EXAMPLE, WE MAY NOT HAVE SPEC, UH, THE PHYSICAL SPACE TO INSTALL A SHELTER EVEN WHERE ONE IS WARRANTED OR, UM, WE MIGHT NEED REAL TIME INFO OR LIGHTING, BUT WE MAY NOT HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICAL GRID OR, UM, THE OPTION TO PUT IN SOLAR POWER AT THAT PARTICULAR STOP. UM, IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND FOR US TO PROVIDE OUR RIDERS WITH A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE TRANSIT EXPERIENCE. AND OUR TEAM STRIVES TO PUT AS MANY AMENITIES OUT ON THE STREET AS WE CAN FEASIBLY MAINTAIN. CAP METRO IS THIRD IN THE UNITED STATES IN TERMS OF HOW MANY OF OUR STOPS HAVE SHELTERS AT THEM. AND WE ARE FOURTH WHEN IT COMES TO SEATING. UM, AND WE ARE FIRST WHEN IT COMES TO REAL-TIME INFORMATION, THOSE ARE ALL STATS FROM OUR PREVIOUS PRESENTATION AT THE AMERICAN BUS BENCHMARKING GROUP. WHEN WE TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE DATA, UM, IT ALIGNED WITH THE DISTRIBUTION, WE CAN SEE IN THE, IN THE MAPS ON THE SCREEN, IN EVERY CATEGORY OF THESE AMENITIES, WHETHER IT'S A SHELTER, A BENCH, OR A TRASH, CAN WE HAVE MORE OF THEM DISTRIBUTED IN BLOCKERS WHERE THE MINORITY POPULATION IS ABOVE OUR SERVICE AREA AVERAGE. AND THIS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE, UM, BECAUSE WE PRIORITIZE IMPLEMENT IMPLEMENTATION OF OUR AMENITIES, LARGELY BASED ON DEMOGRAPHICS THAT INDICATE A HIGHER NEED FOR TRANSIT AND TRANSIT AMENITIES. SO THINGS LIKE MINORITY POPULATION AND FOLKS WITH LOW INCOME AS WELL AS PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, YOUTH AND SENIOR POPULATIONS, PEOPLE WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY AND UH, PEOPLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO A CAR. SO WE KNOW THAT THE PUBLIC IS REALLY INTERESTED IN AMENITY DATA AND ESPECIALLY THE ABILITY TO SEE WHERE ALL OF THESE AMENITIES ARE, UH, DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT OUR SERVICE AREA ON A MAP. AND OUR IT TEAM HAS BUILT OUT A TOOL THAT ENABLES ANYONE TO SEE WHAT AMENITIES ARE AT A STOP. THIS HELPS NOT JUST THE PUBLIC, UM, BUT IT HELPS EVERYONE IN OUR AGENCY AS WELL WHO NEEDS INFORMATION ABOUT AMENITIES. AND SOME OF OUR PEERS SUCH AS HOUSTON METRO AND VALLEY METRO, THEY ALSO HAVE A DASHBOARD THAT DISPLAY STOPS AND IT INCLUDES AMENITY DATA. UM, HOWEVER, WE HAVEN'T FOUND ONE THAT IS AS FOCUSED ON AMENITIES AND THAT REALLY SETS US APART AS AN AGENCY. EVERYTHING IN THIS DASHBOARD, UM, IS UPDATED ONLY THREE TIMES PER YEAR IN LINE WITH OUR SERVICE CHANGE PROCESS. AND THIS HELPS US MAINTAIN CONSISTENT REPORTING OVER TIME AND PROVIDES A SNAPSHOT IN TIME. AND OUR IT TEAM HAS DONE A GREAT JOB OF BRINGING TOGETHER SEVERAL DIFFERENT DATA SOURCES TO MAKE THIS DASHBOARD WORK. OUR GIS MAPPING SOFTWARE, WHICH CONTAINS THE LOCATIONS OF ALL OF OUR STOP IDS, UM, AND THEN HEXAGON, WHICH IS WHERE WE MANAGE OUR ASSETS AND HAVE A LIST OF WHAT AMENITIES ARE AT EACH STOP. SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE TOOL, UM, YOU'LL SEE THREE MAIN AREAS FRONT AND CENTER. THERE'S AN INTERACTIVE MAP OF ALL OF OUR STOPS AND A LITTLE CALL OUT SHOWING ONE STOP AT A TIME. UM, TECHNOLOGY'S A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF WHAT WE DO. UM, IN MANY, MANY WAYS OUR BUSES ARE NO LONGER, UM, DIESEL MACHINES. THEY ARE COMPUTERS ON SIX WHEELS BECAUSE THERE ARE JUST A TON OF SYSTEMS THAT IT TAKES, UM, ONBOARD THOSE VEHICLES, NOT ONLY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING, BUT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO OUR CUSTOMERS. UM, SO MANY KUDOS TO OUR IT TEAM, UM, LED BY TANYA ACEVEDO, WHO HAS REALLY HELPED US THINK ABOUT HOW TO BE THE BEST POSSIBLE 21ST CENTURY TRANSIT AGENCY. UM, SO ONTO CUSTOMER CARE STATS, WE ACTUALLY HAVE TWO SLIDES THIS MONTH SINCE WE DIDN'T MEET LAST MONTH. SO THE FIRST ONE, THESE ARE DECEMBER NUMBERS. UM, WE SAW, UM, HIGHER VOLUME DRIVEN BY THE UPDATE IN OUR YU O APP. UM, AS WE WERE LOOKING TO PUSH OUT THE TAP TO PAY, UM, ON OUR NEW, UM, ON OUR FAIR COLLECTION SYSTEM, ANYONE WHO HAD A SAVED CREDIT CARD HAD TO RESAVE THEIR CREDIT CARD SO THEY COULD ACCEPT ALL THE TERMS AND SERVICES THAT WERE REQUIRED TO GO ALONG WITH, UM, TAP TO PAY. SO THAT WAS AN UPDATE THAT WE GOT A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT, UM, AS WELL AS THE TYPICAL HOLIDAY EVENTS AND, AND, AND FLUCTUATIONS IN OUR [01:05:01] SERVICE SCHEDULES AROUND THE HOLIDAY. UM, AND THEN NEXT STEP IN JANUARY, UM, WE HAD A SIGNIFICANT SPIKE IN CALL VOLUME RELATED TO THE WINTER STORM. UM, NOT SURPRISINGLY, UM, ANYTIME WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THE KINDS OF IMPACTS WE SEE WHERE WE WERE UNABLE TO RUN SERVICE FOR A PERIOD, UM, WE ARE, UM, FORTUNATELY STILL ABLE TO TAKE CALLS AND WE'RE ABLE TO KEEP OUR CALL CENTER, UM, ACTIVATED. AND THEY TOOK A TON OF CALLS TO HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS RUNNING, WHAT WASN'T RUNNING, UM, AND WHAT THEIR OPTIONS MIGHT BE. UM, OB WE ALSO HAD, UM, A HANDFUL OF EVENTS INCLUDING, UM, MLK DAY EVENTS AND PROTESTS AND OUR JANUARY SERVICE CHANGE ALSO TOOK PLACE. AND SERVICE CHANGES ARE A NATURAL DRIVER OF CALL VOLUME. UM, AND THEN LASTLY, JUST A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO. I WANTED TO GIVE YOU A, JUST A, A TASTE OF SOME OF THE, THE STAKEHOLDERS WE'VE BEEN MEETING WITH. UM, WE MET A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO WITH THEN MAYOR PROTI, NOW NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR OF LEANDER, NICOLE THOMPSON. UM, SHE WAS RECENTLY ELECTED TO SERVE OUT THE UNEXPIRED PORTION OF MAYOR LYLE'S TERM, UM, BUT MET WITH HER JUST TO TALK ABOUT HOW THINGS ARE GOING IN LEANDER AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO CONTINUE TO PARTNER THERE. UM, I ALSO HAD AN INTRODUCTORY MEETING WITH, UM, RELATIVELY NEW, NEWLY APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER OF AUSTIN ENERGY. STUART RILEY. UM, HAD A GREAT CONVERSATION WITH HIM ABOUT ALL OF THE THINGS CAP METRO IS DOING, ESPECIALLY AS WE LOOK TO ELECTRIFY MORE AND MORE OF OUR BUS FLEET AND DO MORE AND MORE, UM, WITH CLEAN ENERGY ON OUR PROPERTIES. OUR, UM, COORDINATION WITH AUSTIN ENERGY BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER. UM, ALWAYS STAYING IN TOUCH WITH THE, UM, CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE AT THE CITY OF AUSTIN. BUT I MET WITH DEPUTY CITY MANAGER JOHN FORTUNE, UM, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE WELL ALIGNED AND ALL OF THE STUFF WE DO, UM, GIVING HIM AN UPDATE ON THE WORK WE'VE DONE WITH OUR TRANSIT POLICE DEPARTMENT, UM, AS WELL AS OUR ONGOING COORDINATION WITH THE TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS FOLKS, UM, TO, TO MANAGE THAT. UM, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I DO, UM, IN SUPPORT OF THE INDUSTRY IS I ACTUALLY SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BUS COALITION. THE BUS COALITION IS A COALITION OF TRANSIT AGENCIES, UM, WITH BUSES AS YOU MIGHT GUESS, UM, THAT IT WAS LARGELY FORMED TO HELP, UM, MAKE SURE THAT THE NEEDS OF BUS SYSTEMS ARE NOT, ARE NOT OVERLOOKED, UM, LARGELY IN OUR, UM, FEDERAL LOBBYING. UM, SO THE, THE, THE BIG MONEY DOLLARS OFTEN GO TO RAIL SYSTEMS BECAUSE RAIL IS AN EXPENSIVE PROPOSITION. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE, THE QUANTITY OF TRANSIT SYSTEMS THAT HAVE PRIMARILY OR EXCLUSIVELY BUS NETWORKS, UM, THERE WAS A REAL NEED FOR A VOICE. AND SO ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO, UM, A GROUP OF TRANSIT AUTHORITIES GOT TOGETHER AND FORMED THE BUS COALITION. UM, AND THAT THAT GROUP CONTINUES TO PROVIDE, UM, LOBBYING ACTUALLY HAS CREATED A CAUCUS IN DC SO THERE IS A BUS CAUCUS OF, UM, A BIPARTISAN CAUCUS OF LEGISLATORS. UM, AND SO I'M PLEASED TO SERVE ON THEIR BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND WE HAD OUR ANNUAL BOARD RETREAT. UM, WE ALSO ARE HAVING OUR REGULAR MEETINGS, UM, OF CAP METRO, A TP AND THE CITY OF AUSTIN TO WORK THROUGH PROJECT CONNECT IMPLEMENTATION. UM, WE'VE NOW HAVE THOSE MORE REGULARLY SCHEDULED THAN THEY HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY. UM, AS, UM, BOARD CHAIR ILION SHARED IN HIS A TP BOARD REPORT, UM, THINGS ARE GETTING REAL NOW WITH GETTING THE LIGHT RAIL SYSTEM BUILT WITH THE RECORD OF DECISION THAT CAME DOWN, UM, IN LATE DECEMBER, EARLY JANUARY. IT'S A BIT OF A BLUR NOW FOR ME. I THINK IT WAS IN EARLY JANUARY AND NOW THE AWARD OF THE, UM, PROGRESSIVE DESIGN BUILD CONTRACT OR THE NEED FOR THAT INTEGRATION WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO INCREASE. AND SO, UM, PROVIDING ASSURANCES THAT WE ARE NOT ONLY, NOT ONLY DO I PARTICIPATE AS AN EX OFFICIO MEMBER OF THAT BOARD, UM, BUT AT THE STAFF LEVEL WE HAVE BEEN REALLY WORKING HARD TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE EVEN, UM, BETTER INTEGRATED AND MORE, UM, COLLABORATIVE THAN BEFORE BECAUSE WE KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF AMAZING WORK YET TO BE DONE. UM, AND THEN LASTLY, JUST A COUPLE OF PLACES I'VE SHOWN UP OUT IN THE COMMUNITY. UM, FIRST OFF ON THE LEFT, UM, I DON'T KNOW IF IT COUNTS AS SHOWING UP IN THE COMMUNITY WHEN WE'RE ON THE SCREEN, UM, BUT I WAS THRILLED RECENTLY TO, UM, ACCEPT THE HONOR OF BEING VICE CHAIR OF THE COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT NETWORK OR CAN, UM, AN IMPORTANT ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS, UM, MAKE SURE THAT AS A COMMUNITY WE ARE COLLECTING GOOD DATA AND ADVOCATING FOR OUTCOMES THAT HELP, UM, THE KIND OF OVERALL OUTCOMES OF OUR COMMUNITY MORE BROADLY. UM, AND I'M THRILLED TO, UM, JOIN, UH, CEO RAUL ALVAREZ, UM, IN HELPING LEAD THAT ORGANIZATION IN THE COMING YEARS.
