SO, IN EMPLOYMENTS, WE'RE UP 3% IN JANUARY, AND YEAR TO DATE, AS YOU CAN SEE, IS UP 5.1%. UM, SO THAT IS REALLY GOOD NEWS COMPARED TO WHERE, YOU KNOW, SOME OTHER AIRPORTS ARE LANDED. WEIGHTS ARE UP 5% AND YEAR TO DATE, THEY'RE UP 6.6%. BUT CARGO TONNAGE, UM, AS WE'VE SEEN IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, HAS BEEN DOWN, UM, ABOUT 6% FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. AND FISCAL YEAR TO DATE DOWN 5.8%. SO ON THE OPERATING REVENUE SIDE, YEAR OVER YEAR, UH, WE ARE DOING, UH, WELL, UH, YOU CAN SEE OPERATING REVENUES ARE UP 25% OR SIX AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE PRIOR YEAR. UH, 5.9 MILLION OF THAT IS REALLY DRIVEN BY THE AIRLINE, UM, REVENUES. AND MOST OF THAT IS COMING FROM THE NEW RATES THAT WE IMPLEMENTED IN FISCAL YEAR 26. UH, NOW AN AIRLINE REVENUE IS, IS DOING WELL TOO, AT 5%, UH, INCREASE OF 5%. BUT ONE THING I WANTED TO KINDA NOTE IN THIS IS, IF YOU LOOK AT FOOD AND BEVERAGE AND RETAIL, IT LOOKS LIKE YEAR OVER YEAR, THAT IS DOWN. UH, BUT AS I MENTIONED IN OUR MEMO, THERE WAS A CORRECTION THAT WE HAD TO GO BACK AND MAKE FROM A NOVEMBER, 2025 ON A REBUILDING THAT WE HAD TO DO. SO WITHOUT THAT CORRECTION, IT WOULD'VE BEEN UP 1%. SO IF YOU LOOK AT THE YEAR TO DATE NUMBERS, YOU'LL SEE THAT FOOD AND BEVERAGE IS ACTUALLY UP 7% AND RETAIL IS UP 0.8%. SO THEY'RE BOTH DOING WELL COMPARED TO, YOU KNOW, THE PASSENGER EMPLOYMENTS. AND YEAR TO DATE, UH, REVENUES ARE UP ALMOST, ALMOST 27% OR 30 MILLION. UM, AND VERSUS BUDGET, WE ARE TRACKING WELL WITH VERSUS BUDGET. UM, ON THE AIRLINE REVENUE SIDE, UH, WE ARE, THERE'S A VARIANCE OF JUST 0.6% VERSUS WHERE WE BUDGETED FOR THE FIRST FOUR MONTHS. AND ON THE NOW AIRLINE SIDE, WE ARE, UH, TRENDING HIGHER THAN WE, THAN WE BUDGETED. UH, AN INCREASE OF 5.8% VERSUS WHERE WE BUDGETED. SO OVERALL OPERATING REVENUE IS 3% OF $4.2 MILLION HIGHER THAN WHAT WE BUDGETED ON THE OPERATING EXPENSE SIDE. YEAR OVER YEAR, IT'S UP 9.5%, AND YEAR TO DATE, WE ARE UP 10% ON THE AIRPORT OPERATING EXPENSES. BUT OVERALL, UH, VERSUS BUDGET, WE ARE JUST OFF ABOUT 0.7% UNFAVORABLE. UH, IT'S ABOUT, YOU KNOW, IT, UH, TRANSLATES TO $425,000, UH, IN UNFAVORABILITY, BUT WE FEEL LIKE WE WILL MAKE THAT UP BY THE END OF THE YEAR. AND ON THE, ON THE EXCESS, UH, NET REVENUES, UH, YOU CAN SEE WHERE THIS BUDGET, WE ARE UP FOUR, $4 MILLION HIGHER THAN WHERE WE HAD BUDGETED, OR 9.3% HIGHER THAN WHERE, WHERE WE BUDGETED. AND YEAR OVER YEAR, UH, YOU CAN SEE, UH, JUST FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY, WE ARE UP 5 MILLION OR ALMOST $5.1 MILLION HIGHER THAN WHERE WE WERE IN JANUARY OF 2025. MOST OF THAT IS COMING FROM THE AIRLINE REVENUES. AS YOU CAN SEE, AIRLINE REVENUES ARE UP 5.9 MILLION, AND THAT IS TRANSLATING THAT TO THAT 5.1 MILLION FAVORABILITY IN NET REVENUES FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. SO YEAR TO DATE, UM, WE ARE UP $22 MILLION IN, IN, UH, NET REVENUES, UH, THAT IS HIGHER THAN, UH, THAN, UH, LAST YEAR. ANY, ANY, UH, QUESTIONS FOR MR. THOMAS ON [00:05:01] THE SCREEN OR IN THE ROOM? DOES THAT MAKE AUSTIN AIRPORT MORE EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO OUR PEERS? I WOULDN'T SAY COMPARED TO OUR PEERS. OUR PEERS, I MEAN, IT DEPENDS ON WHICH AIRPORT YOU'RE LOOKED AT. IT IS, UH, REALLY A DIRECT RESULT OF THE NEW AIRLINE USE AND LEASE AGREEMENT AND THE TERMS THAT WE HAVE IN THERE. SO WE WENT FROM A, A COMMERCIAL, UM, METHODOLOGY FOR TERMINAL RATES TO A COMMERCIAL, UH, COMPENSATORY RATE METHODOLOGY, WHICH ACTUALLY LOWERS THE BASE OF THE, UM, LEASEABLE SPACE THAT WE CALCULATE INTO THE, INTO THE, THE RATE BASE. SO THAT INCREASED THE RATE, UH, BECAUSE THE DENOMINATOR IS NOW LOWER THAN WHAT IT WAS BEFORE. BEFORE IT WAS ALL PRODUCTIVE SPACE, WHICH WAS LIKE 600,000 SQUARE FOOTAGE. WHEREAS IF YOU LOOK AT JUST THE LEASEABLE SPACE IS ABOUT 400,000 SQUARE FOOTAGE. SO THAT INCREASED THE RATE, AND IT WAS IN AGREEMENT WITH THE AIRLINES BECAUSE WHAT WE WANTED TO DO WAS CASH FUND AS MUCH OF THE A DP AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE HAVE TO ISSUE LESS DEBT. SO THAT WAS THE RATE METHODOLOGY CHANGE. AND THE COMMERCIAL COMPENSATORY RATE METHODOLOGY IS USED BY OTHER AIRPORTS, BUT NOT A LOT OF OTHER AIRPORTS. SO IT IS NOT UNCOMMON. AND IT'S A GREAT IMAGE TO SEE THAT THIS PROJECT IS FINALLY MOVING ALONG IN THE THINGS THAT YOU CAN SEE, NOT JUST THE MOVING OF THE DIRT AND THE UTILITIES. SO THAT'S A REALLY GREAT, AS WELL AS THE PICTURE ON THE SIDE. THEY'RE GETTING READY TO POUR CONCRETE FURTHER TO THE EAST WHERE IT'S CONNECTING TO OUR TAXIWAYS, OUR EXISTING TAXIWAYS. AND I THINK OUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS ARE GONNA LOOK BACK TO THE PERIOD OF 23, 4, 5, 6, AND SAY, BOY, THAT PROFESSIONAL TEAM AT THE AIRPORT WAS DOING A REMARKABLE JOB, DOING A LOT TO LAY THE GROUNDWORK FOR THE FUTURE. SO THAT'S VERY COMMENDABLE AND SOMETHING I WANNA STATE, I'VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THAT FIRSTHAND, AND I APPRECIATE IT, COMMENT TO THE COMMISSIONERS AND TO THE PUBLIC. ALSO, THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF KNOWS THIS, BUT I THINK THESE NEXT FEW YEARS WILL BE HARD WORK [00:50:01] AS WE ARE IN CONSTRUCTION AND GOING THROUGH THAT PROCESS, THAT'S GOING TO BE DIFFICULT. AND I THINK THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE IS, I KNOW VERY IMPORTANT TO THOSE ON THIS COMMISSION, BOTH IN THE ROOM AND ON THE SCREEN, THE INTENTIONALITY AROUND THAT, THE AWARD THAT COMMISSIONER VALDEZ JUST DAYLIGHTED AS EVIDENCE OF THE FACT THAT NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY WE'RE GETTING COMMENDATION IN THAT REGARD, WHICH IS GREAT. IT'S GONNA BE REALLY HARD TO KEEP THAT UP JUST OBJECTIVELY AS WE GO THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION. UH, COMMISSIONER TRIMBLE, I WANNA COMMEND YOU ON THE MENTION ON LIGHT RAIL. I WILL SAY MANY YEARS FROM NOW, I HOPE OUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS LOOK BACK AND SAY, BOY, A US WORKED HARD AND THE CITY OF AUSTIN WORKED HARD AND A TP WORKED HARD AND CAPITAL METRO WORKED HARD TO GET TO A PLACE WHERE A US AND THE AIRPORT IS CONNECTED SEAMLESSLY TO DOWNTOWN THROUGH LIGHT RAIL. THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL. AND I KNOW THAT THE AIRPORT TEAM, THE A US TEAM IS DOING WHAT YOU CAN. OBVIOUSLY YOUR DOLLARS ARE CONSTRAINED, BUT YOUR COLLABORATIVE TIME AND EFFORT THERE IS APPRECIATED. IT'S APPRECIATED BY ME. AND I THINK IF WE CAN GET THERE, IT'LL BE A TESTAMENT TO COLLABORATION, TREMENDOUS LEADERSHIP FROM MAYOR WATSON. I THINK THAT HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ONE OF HIS LEGACIES, ONE OF HIS MANY LEGACIES.
